Judy, great to hear about your gardening exploits. Hope that rash doesn't develop.

Cyn, hooked! The first thing hubby asked Hannah when we got in tonight was "Who got eliminated?"!

Hate reality TV, LOVE cooking shows!
I feel compelled to watch this due to the cooking element, but then afterwards, I feel just a little dirty!

Suzy.... good for Ebob! That baptism by fire should give her a lot of self confidence. If she can handle being thrown in the deep end within minutes of starting her job, and handled it, she can handle anything that she sets her mind to. ( I know. Poor grammar.) That OLD man was probably just going through CRAFTs. Or he could have been using it as an excuse. If he keeps coming back, she might want to mention it to her supervisor. There are some slime-balls out there.

everybody. It's NOT supposed to rain today, and the radar shows nothing in the vicinity, but it's dark and gloomy outside. And everything is saturated from all the rain yesterday.

Sorry I didn't say "good night" last night. I got engrossed in a fantastic book... The Sea-Hawk by Rafael Sabatini. It bears NO resemblance to the Errol Flynn movie whatsoever. MUCH better.

Good Maen dear ones!
Just popping in without reading, but wanted to thank you all again for the BEST birthday EVER!
Need to catch up on the reading. I have to run out the door, though, so hope to be back later today and find out what the heck is going on with everyone.
Again, thank you dear, dear friends for the special treatment for my birthday.

Hi All,
Just popping in to say hello...I am experiencing computer prolems far beyound my know how...so am unsure when I will be able to read and comment...I can't even respond to emails...my programs keep changing..etc. It has been suggested that I may have a virus...so please be aware that you could be infected if you are in my address book. I don't know how that works...but am not convinced that that's my problem...I have others trying to help me and may have to call in some pros to clear things up, so until then, I'll just keep reading.
Heidi, since I can't access Jane, et al directly, nor can I access easy page...please let them know about what's going on...... Thanks.

Good Afternoon, Everyone! I hope you are all well.

I mentioned the other day that we are in western Massachusetts. Our daughter and SIL have a cabin kind of on the outskirts of a small town and have about 2 acres of property. While I was finishing breakfast this morning, I looked out the window and saw a black bear walking toward the house. I just had time to alert hubby and D and SIL to grab our grandies to get to a window so we could all see it. Unfortunately, no one was able to grab a camera quickly enough. The dogs started barking and frightened the bear back into the woods. D said last summer they saw a mother bear and her 2 cubs. Exciting time this morning!

Good morning lovely people - up early this morning because power company workmen decided to set up camp right outside our house at 5.30 am - then they sat around until 7am (when they are officially allowed to make noise) chatting, unloading tools, opening/closing car doors, stirring up neighbourhood dogs. As Rolanda would say - Grrrrrr!

Hi Jane, Heidi, Nola, Julie, Mama & Vici.
Gail - I had a feeling you'd be watching. So were you happy or disappointed with last night's 'shock' elimination. I was. I just wanted to punch his smug face most nights - (Ooh! Can I say that? - This is why I should not watch.)
Julie - yes, I miss our Viv, Susan, Lizzie and Becky too. Also missing is Mariana.
Nice new avatars Julie and Heidi.

Morning all!
Stella, poor Bryana! At least Ebob was shown how to use the registers before she was abandoned. Her second day was less fun. They were not as busy so she had someone watching her for the first two hours. That made her more nervous and less confident. She still enjoyed herself, though the parade of people she knew through her register saying hi etc was a bit of a problem as she isn't allowed to serve family or people she knows!

Heidi, good point about that guy coming back. I'll have to ask her about that.

Mamacita, sorry about your computer problems. Hope you get help soon. It does sound a bit like a virus, but it could just be corrupted drivers.

Julie, how exciting to see a black bear so close to the house - and a little scary. I'm glad he/she is scared of the dogs, though I wish they hadn't barked before you got the camera out!

Gail, I'm with you. I don't like reality shows either. This one is a little better in that the contestants are eliminated based on performance rather than a popularity contest, or strategic moves by co-contestants. I don't watch it much, but know who the contestants are and keep track of who has been eliminated.

Julie, love your new avatars!

Cyn, grr to the workmen. We had roadwork going on on a nearby street last week. The house across the road has a conveniently large frontage which was used to park the heavy equipment overnight while the roadwork was being completed. Do you know they 'warm' the machines up for a half an hour before they actually move them? Grrrr

Greetings, I am dropping in without reading, I have been busy this morning then Heidi sent me some of her t-storms and had to sign off. Thank you Heidi, the kind I like, little bits of rumble, gentle rain and no winds. Temps MUCH cooler outside today and in my house.

Al checked the AC, said noise was fan motor, today it is running without noise. Now, should I replace it fore it picks another horribly humid day to play up? Or wait and see how long it will last?

Heidi, our ancestors? Heck, I did not have AC growing up!! Lived in a house that was cooled under trees, had a shady front porch where we retreated for the hot part of the day, moved a fan so it brought in a breeze and we sweated a lot!

Cyn, I've got my fingers crossed for Julie, she represents all the Mum cooks out there but I have heard a rumour going the other way.
I was surprised but not to hear Chris had been eliminated. I see on the net that there are suspicions he knows more than he is meant to re food prep and cooking, but he really was quite technically brilliant, but a little one-tracked. I am glad it was his meat/beer obsession that got him booted in the end.

Good morning friends! Sun again today, looks lovely outside. Today I am going out to lunch at a friend's place - her husband has retired and I think she is finding it difficult having him home all the time... can't imagine why!
Well you all seem to be having a good influence on me - gardening yesterday (Rob says it looks nice!), then in the afternoon I went through my miniatures, looked at all the kits I'd bought (at vast expense) and actually started one of them! Finished it after dinner, and it looks really cute - an old-fashioned letter-box surrounded by vines and flowers. No doubt the mini postman will complain about it, or leave a tersely threatening note in the letterbox! - or maybe I'm just a liiittle bit over-imaginative... Who me??!! Oooh, I could make some mini junk-mail to shove in the letter-box, or would that be going a bit too far... ;)

I'm not big on reality shows. Heck... I'm not big on television. Back in the '50's it was described as a vast wasteland. It's far vaster now, with even less quality programming. I may watch it for 1 or 2 hours a month.

Judy... here there is actually a law against planting flowering plants around a mailbox. The postmen seriously object to being stung by bees.

How big IS your mini mailbox? And your imaginary mini postman? The bees would be full sized.

Heidi, my mini's are one twelfth scale, so one inch = 1 mini foot. The bees would be almost invisible. I did do a little beehive for another setting, with bees on clear wires so it looked like they were hovering around it - very cute! (A kit project, not something I thought up! - these are really a bit out of scale.) A real bee in that setting would be about a foot long - sci-fi/horror show scenario! :0
