Gail and Bean - I hear the roar and I'm joining in!
Suzanne, it is cool to share your birthday - I share mine with my niece. I keep telling her she's going to have to pick another one because I had it first.
Nola, I've worked out why people drink so much at the races - they need it to keep warm!

Ebob has tenosynovitis of the deltoid - a repetitive strain thingy. The doc has her taking ibuprofen to reduce the inflammation and pain, but also fish oil caps. He said they also reduce the inflammation and she can take them for longer as they have no side effects. He said pain free in a week. I googled when we got home (as you do) and the treatments on the net always include some kind of physical therapy. I figure I'll take her to the sport physio next week and get her some exercises. She doesn't want to give up baseball, so she will have to do something to prevent this.

I'm still waiting for a whole day where we don't have to go anywhere or do anything. Tonight Ebob has to work. She also wants to catch up with a friend who is going away next week. Sigh.

Hi Suzy, If I remember correctly you also share a birthday with Mitchell. You asked about my class. I am taking a required class in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). It is for an endorsement on my license and I should have done it 6 years ago when I started teaching. There are 5 of us at my school taking it together so we can help each other. All of us should have done it years ago so we NEED to finish and pass it. It is not hard, just time consuming. I can see the importance of it though. I have a lot of Haitian students whose native language is Creole.

Greetings, All!
Thanks to Mr. Google, here is more information about Ebob's Tenosynovitis:
Tenosynovitis is inflammation of the lining of the sheath that surrounds a tendon (the cord that joins muscle to bone).
Symptoms
Difficulty moving a joint
Joint swelling in the affected area
Pain and tenderness around a joint, especially the hand, wrist, foot, or ankle
Pain when moving a joint
Fever, swelling, and redness may indicate an infection, especially if a puncture or cut caused these symptoms.
Treatment
The goal of treatment is to relieve pain and reduce inflammation. Rest or keeping the affected tendons still is essential for recovery.
You may want to use a splint or a removable brace to help immobilize the tendons. Applying heat or cold to the affected area should help reduce the pain and inflammation.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen can relieve pain and reduce inflammation. Local injections of corticosteroids may be useful as well. Some patients need surgery to remove the inflammation surrounding the tendon, but this is not common.
After recovery, do strengthening exercises using the muscles around the affected tendon to help prevent the injury from coming back.
Causes
The synovium is a lining of the protective sheath that covers tendons. Tenosynovitis is inflammation of this sheath. The cause of the inflammation may be unknown, or it may result from:
Infection
Injury
Overuse
Strain
The wrists, hands, and feet are commonly affected. However, the condition may occur with any tendon sheath.
Tests & diagnosis
A physical examination shows swelling over the involved tendon. The health care provider may touch or stretch the tendon, or have you move the muscle where it is attached to see whether you experience pain.
Prognosis
Most people fully recover with treatment. However, if the condition is caused by overuse and the activity is not stopped, tenosynovitis is likely to come back. In chronic conditions, the tendon may be damaged and recovery may be slow or incomplete.
Prevention
Avoiding repetitive movements and overuse of tendons may help prevent tenosynovitis.

Thank you for those concerned about last night's wind. If garbage was blown into our yard, the wind blew hard enough to then blow it out of our yard and into someone else's. Very little to pick up today!

Gail and Beanie - you go, Girls! Imagine, shopping for hardware and making the needed adjustment/repairs! Good for you! (BTW, before SIL began helping hubby on D and SIL's deck, he owned NO power tools. The only power equipment in the house was D's electric drill.

Vici, I hear the disappointment in your voice (so to speak) as you tell us the move-in to the new addition will be delayed! 'Tis better to get things done correctly than rushed and later be disappointed. All in good time. BTW, I liked your turn of phrase about "tools"!

MizT, we're glad to know that the weight loss has been controlled - and all for the good! Ugh! sewing on black garments! Even plenty of daylight is not enough any more. All black garments should magically correct their size to fit the owner, should any measurements change after purchase!
I don't know about you, but my eyes aren't getting worse; there just isn't enough light available any more.

OK, I'm pretty much caught up - and about to head to the (indoor) pool for water aerobics. Last Friday they had someone in to fix the heater. The water was finally bearable yesterday afternoon. We'll see what it's like tonight.
See you all later.

Some people are just brats.
Julie, that sounds like giving up baseball! I think at the moment she'd rather cut off her arm... hmmm. And she is working as a check out chick tonight so will be moving her arm rather a lot. ALL the wrong things.
So far Sunday looks free. I say so far as hubby is hoping to take Monday off work as a flexi which could mean plans are added...
I'm glad the garbage didn't end up all over your yard, especially if it is still windy. Imagine having to run after things in the wind to capture them! My family ignores my 'nothing straight into the outside bin' rule so there are often loose things that can fly away in the wind.

Tami, that course does sound interesting. I haven't encountered any ESL students in the classes I have taught during my pracs, but Ebob had a hard time with one in kindergarten. This little girl didn't know the words to ask Ebob to play with her so she would physically drag her around. Boy did Ebob get some bruises. Unfortunately for this little girl she had a teacher who really didn't care whether she learnt anything or not.

Julie, just read your post with Ebob. Nope, still playing. Not giving it up. I'll manage. Not happening. If it happens again, I'll just do the treatment again.
And I thought she was a smart cookie.

Julie, the class is basically done online. We had a meeting a few weeks ago. There are 8 units we have to read and do the work for. We also have to write and present a lesson plan aimed at ESL learners. My ESL kids are about ready to exit the program so I am going to teach the self contained ESL class. I will be better able to analyze my effect (and get bonus points from instructor. We will meet again in about 6 weeks and take a post test. The post test is almost exactly like the pretest which I copied and recorded the aswers on.

I am living in a crazy country. Idaho just had it's earliest every "snow day" (no school) and my area had temperatures of 93 degrees with a "feels like" 100 degrees. From one extreme to the other.

Good maEn everyone! Had a nice day today. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Darrell took me to lunch @ Sostanza (the "fancy" restaurant here in this HICK town) and bought me a small sewing machine...Haven't sewn anything since high school...will practice with it, bought some cheap remnant fabric to practice with. I am going to use it for finishing my needlepoint pillows (Cheaper than taking it to the sewing shop in town--even tho she probably will do a MUCH better job than I will be able to).
TTT: Colorado had snow yesterday...they were talking about opening the ski lifts ALREADY!!! Yikes!!

Good Night, Suzanne! Too bad for your hubby! I understand, as we also have a gobbler.
I'm the one who cleans litter boxes at our house - probably best, as hubby has compromised immune system. Unfortunately, he will be on his own while I am in the hospital & rehab facility after my knee surgery. He will need to wear gloves and a mask. I hope our gobbler will eat more slowly while I'm gone.

Hi all....Apologies for the lack of communication from me...I have been missing in action not due to illness or any problems, but due to many wonderful challenging, fun filled things, including reading many good books, cleaning after losing a wedding gift in the house and searching all over to no avail......until I bought a replacement gift, then, house preparation for the upcoming wedding guest, my grands and great-grand,who will be staying in my home for the up-coming wedding of my niece this Saturday, and welcoming other family members as they come in town.
I have not read any comments for days, but will catch up in a week or too...I am not back yet, just jumping in to alay any questions or concerns my absence may has caused and to publically thank Julie for the email expressing greetings and concern that I have not yet been able to respond to properly...but willl.
Thanks Julie...know how much I appreciated your thoughts.
I will have much to share at a later date, but for now, please know that my thoughts, wishes and prayers for good health or restored health, safe travel and wishes for fun abound, I shall return and hopefully the good Lord will continue to watch over each and every one of you and yours with the same tender care that has been shown thus far...MAy PEACE WALK WITH YOU AS NEEDED!

I am hiding. And I've learned a lesson - ffuts is BAD. I was using the sucky thing to suck tsud off the window sills. The ant colony that had established a nice little home for itself inside the tubing for the window screens decided that was kinda scary and all ran away - all over everywhere!!!!! I sprayed surface spray inside the tubing, which only made them mad. I had the sucky thing sucking its heart out and couldn't keep up so ended up violating my personal rule even further and using even more surface spray to stop the invasion. So you see ffuts is BAD because it made me use poison!

Good evening all.MIL has had a very upset tummy bug for the last 24 hours.I hope she is better tomorrow.
Suzy I wish Ken could see Ebob pitching as she may have to change her action to prevent a repeat of her sore shoulder.
Those ants Suzy may be a sign of more rain.
Sorry folk, I have been reading through your posts but I am tired and do mot remember all the posts I would have liked to have made. Just remember I have thought of you all as I have read what you are doing with your lives.

Broni I think our DS finishes in a couple of weeks. Pleased to hear something you are doing health wise is helping, fingers crossed that it continues.
Susy, as June said about Ebob's pitching action it may be a good idea to ahve a word with the team coach as they may beable to suggest something which might help.
Tami, I'm pleaased I am coming to Florida not Idaho, but try to get the temps down just a little. You ahve 21 days to try

June, I hope your MIL feels better tomorrow - and that you and Ken don't catch it!
I took a little movie of Ebob pitching (as did WIN TV though of course we weren't home in time to see if they showed it). The file is huge though so not much of a help...
