It seems that SA7 is getting old and slow. It is time for a new page. Welcome to SA8.

I'm DAYS behind on reading comments. I'll try to get caught up in the next week. Then, once I have surgery, have 3-4 days in the hospital and I don't know how many in rehab, I'll have even more pages to read again! Can you say "Frustration?"

Knee replacements are scheduled for Nov. 4. I didn't quite make it 61 years on the originals.

Gail, I noticed on FB that Jed doesn't choose Pavlova for his birthday celebration! I was shocked, but maybe his choice is equally yummy?

Hope to pop back later. It's past 7:30, and no dinner yet, and we need to call D#1 in another time zone. Take care, all!

He is a strange one, that one! The last two cakes we have had for Chloe's and Beth's birthdays was a Deluxe Choc Mousse cake from a patisserie/coffee franchise, very nice but a little on the expensive side. Tonight I think it will be a Choc Mud cake from our local bakery.

Gail, that chocolate mousse cake sounds like something I would like. You can't have enough chocolate.
Heidi, hope you had a good time at the Lion's club meeting.
Julie, if I forget to say it, good luck with the surgery. Try to get someone to post and let us know how you are doing.
Don't remember anything else, I am falling asleep at the computer. Night all, I will be back tomorrow.

I hope MizT has her new underlayment, floor and bathtub by now!

V Viv, how awful to have flu again! It just doesn't seem fair! Get plenty of rest and as much good nutrition as you can accept into your system. (I'm not sure how much tummy upset accompanies it.) Hope you feel better SOON!

Nola, are you back at work now? I hope it's not too hard to get back into your work routine!

Brenda, are you packed? I think you're due to leave for Florida - maybe tomorrow? Have a wonderful flight and an excellent visit!

I'm moving about 60 rolls today and tomorrow. First I had to get them off the fields, then tomorrow I need to bring them back near the house. That may actually take an extra day or 2. Uggh.

I love the way Mamacita has with words. She always has a way of saying what the rest of us are thinking - but in a much more eloquent way! Ditto to everything she said on page 431! Thanks, Mamacita!

Heidi - nice to see you posting more often - we missed you.
Julie - knee replacements - oh dear - hope all goes well and that you can manouvre yourself to the computer to talk to us asap afterwards. xx
OK - off to sort out a few things for Mum's little party. I'm just buying her some fresh flowers - anything else just gets lost or taken by other residents - they don't know what they're doing - she'll get to enjoy them for as long as they last. She's always loved flowers.

Doing a happy dance! I'm not going to have to walk to Sydney to meet Vici and Bean! I've just received an email that says all may be settled by the end of the week, which probably means the middle of next week, but that's still plenty of time!

Cyn, I hope you have a wonderful celebration with your Mum! Flowers are a good idea! Would she be able to maintain a small flowering plant, or is that too much work/difficulty? (I doubt that my MIL would be able to keep a flowering plant alive for very long, though she had an aloe plant that survived neglect and dropping for a while.)

Hi everyone.
Have received a nice bit of rain here, the gardens certainly need it.
Some of you may remember me mentioning John, who is 73 and a guy who I sometimes meet at Cafe 66 to do crosswords with and have coffee.
Unfortunatley I must have given him my germs with this flu I have.
He now has it.
I am trying to get him to go to the doctors.
He is a stubborn independant man.
He has never married and lives alone.
I am hoping he does what he says and goes tomorrow.
It takes 3 weeks approx. to get into doctors here so I told him, just front up, they will
see how sick you are and will have to take you in.

Julie, are you having both knees replaced?
You must have more understanding doctors and specialists where you live compared to who I have been to see.
They keep telling me I am too young.
I wish you all the best.
Have you had any rain June where you are?

Hi, Viv! I hope you're feeling better, and I hope your friend John will get to a doctor and begin the healing process as well!

Here's the abbreviated story on my knees. I went to an orthopedist for the first time about 9 years ago. He said I was a candidate for knee replacement, but to hold off for as long as I could. (The lasted 10-15 years then.) A different orthopedist last spring first thought some physical therapy would help, then prescribed more PT and customized braces, then said we really needed to replace. Unfortunately, more PT made my sciatica so bad that he said he wouldn't do anything until my back was taken care of. My acupuncturist sent me to a physiatrist (doctor specializing in muscle & joint interaction) in July. She again told me I needed both knees replaced and sent me to my current orthopedic surgeon. Apparently, since each knee is structurally different, but both are bone-on-bone and full of arthritis, they felt it would be best to replace both at the same time. A lot of surgeons won't do both, but they felt there could be too many complications doing only one.

Viv - tell John I said to go to the Doctor - he must at his age. How are you feeling?
Mum enjoyed her little party and loved the flowers - the ones I got her (and don't ask me what they were) will last well. She and the other residents got into the spirit of things and ate all afternoon. Bet there'll be a lot of residents not wanting their dinner tonight.

Evenin' all,
Viv, I hope John goes to the doc. At 73 colds can turn nasty very fast.

Cyn, I'm glad your Mum enjoyed her party and ate lots. It sounds like a good day.

Broni, I don't have a brain anymore, if I don't have a schedule I don't know where I'm supposed to be!

Cyn, how do you get the camel, rattlesnake, tiger etc. for the zoo? Do you have to wait until they finally come up, or do you get them by gift? Just wondering since so many new zoos have them already.
