I need to fire up the tractor now and feed hay to the cows. Then I need to go do the last of my Thanksgiving grocery shopping. I also have a Lion's Club meeting tonight.

Tomorrow I am doing some rescue work. The best friend of one of my fellow Lions owns some land about 15 minutes away. No house, just a falling apart barn. They recently discovered that someone was living in their barn with an assortment of starving and sick animals. The guy fled with most of the animals, but left 2 crippled horses. Since there are no fences, the horses wander loose on the property, and on the road. The Sheriff's department has told the land owner that he is liable for the care of the horses, and any injuries or accidents that may arise from the horses getting on the road. The land owner knows nothing about horses. And no animal welfare groups will help. So I'm going over there tomorrow with my horse trailer and bringing them over here, with the permission and blessing of the land owner.

Morning all!
Almost back amongst the world of the coherent and sensical. I'll give it a shot anyway...

Bean, I was so sorry to hear about your brother. I must have missed an earlier post and got quite a shock when I read the one I saw. All I can say is that doctors often get it wrong, but live every day as if they haven't and you will have no regrets. Sending hugs, thoughts and wishes.

Julie, I hope your recovery continues to move along, and speeds up to match your expectations rather than the doctors!

Rolanda, I thought of a way to reduce your mountain of washing... Get S#2 to do his own. We country folk who had to leave home to go to Uni managed to do that. It might also encourage him not to wait for the $1 million before leaving home.. I wish it was next Tuesday so all of the waiting and worrying and butterflies could go away and it would be all done with the recovery beginning. Hugs!!!!

Judy, I love that you commented on your lovely long nails! Way to go finding the positive! Hate to give you something to wonder about, but what I remember most about Ally's arm when she finally got her cast off were the hairs. They had grown really long and sprouted underneath her forearm where there are usually none. She eventually shaved them all and they grew back the right length and only where they should be. She was quite stressed by those hairs!!

Nola, sending thoughts, wishes and vibes out to your sister today.... I think you are doing the right thing waiting until tomorrow to see her. That's the way I wanted it when I had my surgery. Hugs to you!!!! Congratulations on your accreditation too. That's a big job getting through one of those. My foot is much better, and hopefully that experience will adjust my instincts in the future.... (she blushes)

Cyn, I've been to a couple of those ballet things - and they were the reason I was glad Ally decided to quit ballet. (How dare they expect her to wear a leotard!) Do you have Maddie on video so you can relive the moment?

Heidi, I couldn't believe it when I saw the video of the Trikke. Not for a minute would I consider taking up something like that at my age! Where do you practice? Good luck with the horses. The poor things will probably be glad to get some real food.

Tami, good luck on your finals...

MizT, I love the sound of your lights. I don't think we'll have any again this year. Al is a gem. I hope his cataracts are slow to get worse. At least now he would know what precautions to take to look after them.

Broni, your weekend on the boat sounds wonderful! Well, except for the oysters bit. Oh, and the sore muscles. hehe

Liz, your posts are becoming longer so you must be feeling a little better, in bursts anyway. I love your story about Georgia teaching Bluey things. We are seeing that here, but funnily mostly in reverse. The Baby is giving Tip Tap flying lessons! I think it is because Tip Tap is a variety that was bred and baby is closer to the way budgies were meant to be. We still don't know if baby is a he or a she by the way. She must have been super young when we got her. She still chases Tip Tap trying to get him to feed her, even though she is perfectly capable of feeding herself.

Suzy... I practice with the Trikke on my driveway (1/8 mile paved) which is not totally level, and in various store parking lots which are level. It folds up so I carry it in my truck all the time. It's actually low impact on the back and exercises all the muscles.

What the horses are really going to need is Vet care. Rumor has it that one may have to be euthanized. They're in horrendous shape. I think that is why their owner abandoned them.

I think I have finally caught up. If I missed you I am sorry!!!!!

According to my memory (that document I made on the computer) we are about to get very busy thanks to Ally. She will be a, how do I say this, PIA by the time she gets through all of the stuff they have going on this holiday season. Sheer exhaustion will send her off the deep end... The other girls in Pride are older and I think even they will find it taxing.

Heidi, the muscles thing is what would put me off. Most of mine haven't been used in so long they'd probably go on strike if I tried to use them now! The poor horses. It's hard to imagine someone treating animals so badly.

Good morning lovely people.
Nola - my thoughts will also be with your sister today. {{{hugs}}} As they will with Rolanda's Mum next week.
Heidi - pleased you won the birds. One day, somehow, I'm coming to visit Surreal Farm!
Suzy - glad you're back in the land of the living. Staying away from that other place today - too many animals on the loose.
Lizzy - are you still ditzy today? Finding yourself flicking towels at strangers? Rest up, and no doing a Rolanda - leave the ironing, if there's any there.
Ok, there goes my mind - can't remember anything else. MizT has lights up, Broni's talking combovers, hello to Gail. That's it, I'm done. Ciao

Hi all. Just stopping in for a moment.
Heidi, the real animals are better to look at but unfortunately I don't have the space. I guess I will just have to keep up with my zoo and try to come visit your farm one day.
Hugs going out to all who need them. I read the posts and lost track. My brain is already on vacation. One more day of school and then a 4 day weekend.

Quick fly bye...
Suzy my brother was diagnosed with MND this year and was last in hospital around the time Vici was here... The last 4 weeks have been such a nightmare I'm not exactly sure when without dragging out the diary. They eventually got him up and walking again and discharged home. He has since been reassessed and has probably been undiagnosed for quite a while. Prognosis after diagnosis [depending on form] is 1-2yrs in 80% of cases. His form seems to be progressing rapidly... we are ALL in a state of shock.

I'm back from the Lion's Club meeting. I picked up a bed frame afterwards and hauled it to a charity place for some friends. I was the only one with a truck. Tomorrow we go pick up those horses at noon. The timing is good for them, we're now supposed to have a sleet storm the following day (Thanksgiving). I'll have the 2 of them in the barn, warm and dry.

I don't believe that Stephen Hawking was correctly diagnosed. He's had it for nearly 40 years. ALS/MND doesn't last that long.
I LOVED A Brief History Of Time. His description of the Second Law Of Thermodynamics is fabulous. It explains so much about life.
