It seems that SA7 is getting old and slow. It is time for a new page. Welcome to SA8.

Suzy I read it as that our resident expert on having a 'gail' went over for lunch...
Hope they weren't talking about

It helped to put in writing my concerns about my brother... there has been some good feedback, thank you. I have had major trouble accepting this and I have been in denial hoping it was all a big mistake up until the last few weeks. Being over excited and distracted about Vici's visit helped stop me facing up to it... not good, I know. I am a pacifist thru and thru and avoid confrontation like the plague. Sometimes that spills over into other areas and makes it hard for me to accept the truth at times... about many things....

Bean.... there are some truths that nobody wants to face. And there is a small chance that it's not a truth. He could be one of the fortunate few who are misdiagnosed. Never give up on the tiniest shred of hope.

It was me you sillies!

I agree with Heidi, I would have called the police, or at least told the bullies that was who I was calling.

Suzy haven't checked but did you post that link on Easy?
Your hypothetical is rather scary... most adults would think that calling the police would be the obvious thing to do... the fact that they didn't think to call the police makes you wonder about the size of the gap between the way both groups problem solve and see things...

Ok it was Gail
with some lovely roses from her very own garden, and her cheery self - for some great company and lots of chatting,
She also helped with getting Gizzy to the vet for his cartrphen jab and some more tablets for his kennel cough.

Good afternoon all.
Very interesting article about the trolls, Suzy. And I agree with Bean about posting it on Easy.
Suzy - your hypothetical - yes, adults would call the police. It is a scary situation. I wondered if someone had called their Mum?

Is anyone else finding that SA8 is slowing down? Although I haven't been getting the blank screen, my posts are taking longer to go through.
It would be nice to get to 500 pages - 20,000 posts, though.

Evening all!
I'm being paid back for being a cow! I posted something really cheeky on fb after lmao, the computer promptly decided it wasn't going to let me post anything else! I played around with it and eventually got it working again and wrote a long post in here - only to have my internet connection fall out losing the post! I really shouldn't be cheeky!!!!

(That wasn't cheeky at all was it?)

Laughing again... a person butted in on a teasing post I made on a young friends page - she was complaining about being fat. After a few posts back and forth where I got progressively worse at pushing this persons buttons (was it really me who posted the starve the trolls link?) she posted this....

uh, young? honey, i'm 23. I've matured enough to realise that what you're suggesting is unhealthy, both in practice and in mindset.

Does anyone else here find it absolutely hilarious that she thinks 23 is old and wise??

I'm in a chatty mood and there is no one to talk to me....

Bean, I didn't post it on easy, didn't want to start another war

I'm glad some of you responded to my theoretical. I told my husband it was proof I was right when I thought it was too soon to give Ebob those kinds of freedoms. He said he's rocking on the line and could be convinced either way...

I've decided I do have an unhealthy mindset. I think about you guys and the stuff that you share about your lives way too much. I'm so glad Gail was able to visit Liz and look after her for a while, I can't wait until I hear that Julie's recovery has progressed to the stage where she can come home, Bean's brother, Nola's sister (how are the pathology results etc etc), Rolanda's mum's upcoming op and... and... and... just because I didn't mention it doesn't mean I'm not thinking about it. I think it's time I got a job!

Hi darling Suzy...seems like you and me need a bit of TLC.
I just got a letter from the council saying our Rental place water consuption (every spell thing I do is still wrong) has gone from 60kl to 200kl.

More problems to deal with. All I want to do is have a nice easy day off to recoup for the next 5 days of work,as well as see Judy, get my uniforms ready, shop, pay bills, etc.

Son has just arrived,better go.

Bye

Gail and Liz, pleased you had a nice time together. Gail is certainly one special lady.
Pleased all went well for you sister Nola. Seeing her through the next six months with Chemo etc will be the hard part.
Suzy, sorry I was not about to 'chat'. I was busy figuring out how to transfer a couple of tracks from a CD onto another CD. Took a while but I finally did it.(I generally get Sharon to do things like that for me!)
Sorry if I sounded like boasting about my 'C' preparations. It might have sounded a lot but it is only a small portion of what I still have to do. I was really only trying to push Gail's buttons. (Sorry Gail)

Happy Thanksgiving all!
I am so grateful for you all and your warm friendships.
Just popping in because I'm busy in the kitchen... just got the pumpkin pie in the oven. Need to have it done before Mike needs ths oven for Mr. Turkey.
I did see that Nola reported in. So happy to hear your sister came through with flying colors. Hope the visit with the doc brings good news, too.
Hope to pop back in later today. BIG BIG HUGS!

I should put the pumpkin pie in the oven now. The turkey goes in to cook in just over an hour. I'm looking forward to my tryptophan coma later today.

June, I didn't think you were boasting, but your post did remind me of how little I have actually done this year to get ready for Xmas. I am usually a lot more organised than this. I doubt anyone will see a card from me this year....

Today is the start of a 4 day slaughter here. The muslim holidays are starting, and large groups are descending on our farm to butcher sheep, goats and cattle every day. They have their families along and really party. I just helped catch a bunch of sheep (put into a good holding pen near the house yesterday) and gave some children a tour of the animals. They particularly enjoyed petting horses and rabbits, and feeding the peacocks. One of the parents tried to buy both of my buggies. He got a very firm NO.

Heidi, I was wondering what happens to the animals' bodies afterwards. How do you dispose of them?

I read on the internet that it isn't the tryptophan that makes us sleepy, it's the carbohydrates (not from the turkey obviously). I'll take a little convincing on that one..

Suzy... all the animals are for their daily feasts during Ramadan. They do all the blessing, butchering and dressing out, then take the meat with them. It's just that VERY few farms are equipped to handle butchering, or would let large groups of muslims on their farms to do it. We are given the numbers of animals they'll need, and the sizes. We contact various other farmers and gather the needed animals here in our quarantine pens.

Okay, so now I'm wondering what all the animal rights activists are complaining about. We all eat meat, animals are slaughtered for that meat, what's the problem? That was a rhetorical question by the way.

I've watched these muslims do their butchering. They're really fast, and the animals do NOT suffer. I have no problem with that at all. I wouldn't mind going fast and painless myself.
