I have had a lovely day. Christmas 'lunch' on a boat on Sydney Harbour. Ex employees of the company Hubby and I worked for. I smile when I spoke to one hap and someone else said to him "do you remember June". His answer was "yes I was keen on her but she lived too far away". (I used to travel 2 hours to work). The distance did not stop Ken though!!!!
Anyway it made me feel good, even if that happened about 50 years ago!

Nola I have been thinking about you today. I hope it has all gone well for your sister.
You will soon be back to normal Liz (Whatever normal is for you!!) Luv ya!!
None of us had a cold when you were here Gail.
Hope you get better soon Suzy. I have held one at bay for about a week!
Hope you sort out the problem with the horses Heidi. I love animals but would much rather see them put down than to have to suffer. I do not think I would be game to try and ride your Tikke. Looks a lot of hard work. Hi to everyone else. I did not sleep last night (I had three cups of coffee yesterday) and after being on the water in the lovely sunshine I can hardly keep awake.

The 'C' word Broni.
Should I tell Gail that I have 1/2 the cards done, about 16 gifts wrapped, a tree hanging from the curtain rail with thing that Laura has put on it. (The base is being fixed ) I have made some cakes and puddings and been to two 'C' lunches!
And Cyn and others have been putting 'C' lights up!

I too have made a cake and am about to start with cards (not making them this year because of my late holiday) I've just bought the stamps.
Though we are having a spate of illness here... son has gastroenteritis. The first diagnosis the Dr came up with was suspected appendicitis, he soon had to change that after son told him that he had already had that removed.
My head is throbbing and I feel so tired.

Came back to see if there was news of Nola's sister. It's probably been a long day - maybe we'll hear in the morning.
Heidi - you lost me at Steven Hawking, not to mention thermodynamics. I was famed at my exclusive private girl's school for getting 14% in a physics exam! (Mother was disgusted, to say the least)
Hi June - my 'C' decorations are going up on Saturday, 'C' shopping to be done on Friday (what I can get done) and the big turn on of the lights - ta daaaa - Sunday evening. I love the 'C' time of the year. First 'C' party on Saturday night with the Business Network people.

"Samx" is a good one, all right. But maybe a bit too Politically Correct. These days there is too much effort to make it as generic and commercial as possible. C*****mas was originally a Pagan holiday that the christians commandeered, and I prefer celebrating it as it originally was. Name is not important, but I dislike generic. If someone does not like the idea of "christmas", they don't have to celebrate it. I just use the name for a joyful holiday full of love and giving. And great decorations. And I like the music.

Well, I've got the 2 horses here. They are not in anywhere near the bad condition that I was lead to believe they were in. One is a grey purebred Arabian mare with a sore back leg. She's only a little underweight. The other is a black and white pinto pony mare. She's in good condition. Both are gentle and easy to handle. I was expecting to have to rope them both to catch them, but they trotted right up to me to be petted. The Vet won't be in the office until next Monday, so they can both stay in the barn until they've been checked out and vaccinated.

Good morning all.
Judy came through the surgery very well.I called in to see her after work at 10pm and she had had tea and was watching tv.She was back in the ward at 6pm and can hardly remember talking to me on the phone, still very groggy. The Dr had left by then so she doesn't know any details except that they took the lymph nodes from under her arm.
I was amazed that she can use her arm,no pain except for when she tries to sit up.
The next step is chemo.
Thank you all for kind words and wishes,it helped immensely, especially for me.
I'm so pleased that the horses are in pretty good nick Heidi.
Lizzy..I hope you feel better and better each day.
Bean...so sorry to hear that your brother has MND.
My Mum had it and we got lots of support from the MND association. They even lent her all the equipment like electric bed, shower chair etc,to keep her home longer. It's a dreadful desease and you are in my thoughts.

Morning all!
Bean, I've just been reading about MND and there was depressingly little information. The key comment repeated was that although the person with MND has is for 2-5 years on average, their family and carers live with it forever. Sending thoughts and wishes and hugs....

Heidi, there was a public service announcement on one of the MND sites from Stephen Hawking. Disappointingly there was no discussion of why he has lived 40 years since his diagnosis (albeit with a lot of technological help) while others don't.
Glad to hear the horses are healthier than you expected.

June, your celebrations sound wonderful. How flattering to have your workmate say that about you! I would have been puffed up for hours!
Cyn, laughing at your 14% in physics and remembering a discussion we had about ebob...
Liz, you sound like you're still on the mend rather than mended, but I do like the ditzy lizzy!
Gail, are you over there slaughtering everyone's score in mindjolt?
I've discovered this morning that as much as I like long nails, they just don't mix with typing so I guess they will go today. Speaking of which, how is our one armed lady today????

Yes, Stephen Hawking has had a LOT of help. Primarily a lot of surgeries. The machine he uses to talk is disconcerting, though. It has an american accent, and Hawking is from Scotland.

Speaking of which. Am off to Ikea this morning, picking up S#1 Girlfriend on the way.
Buying C Pressie for her.. I suggested Canisters for the Pantry, when I was helping pack up the Pantry, when they moved abode some months ago.
Her eyes lit up and said " Ikea !!!".

On Tuesday morning I read out our horoscopes from the paper to hubby. One of them said - 'you will have a shared win today'. Ozlotto was up to $20 million and I joked - hmmm, maybe. I finally checked the website this morning and got the message - 'you've had a win'. Whooppee, I thought. Sit down for this, everyone, it's exciting!
$26.75 - 7th division.
Oh well, enough to buy tickets in next week's jackpotted $30 million. Maybe next time.

Good maEn everyone!! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating...
Get well wishes to those ailing, having surgery, recovering from said surgery, etc.
FINALLY went to the doctor about my sinuses, chronic rhinitis (swelling of sinuses) and sinus infection, which I seem to be near the end of. Like Dr. a lot, even noticed I should be getting regular mammograms (family history). Scheduled for 6 months from now. My blood pressure was high today, probably because of being sick. Have to watch that too!! (also family history).

The rescue horses are settling in nicely. I'm heading back out to the barn in a little while to give them more hay, water and grain. Maybe a couple of apples, too. I already have someone interested in taking at least one of them. I told them no decisions would be made until after their Vet visit next week.

Theoretical question here: If you were in a group of young people near a river and another group of slightly older, intimidating, threatening people were physically blocking your exit from the river bank by circling and calling out nasty stuff, who would you call?

Suzy... a question about the young people. Do any have cell phones? If they do, they should call the cops. Loudly. The older group will most likely get intimidated by knowing the police are coming. If they don't back down, the right people are on the way.
