Okay, there will be two prizes.
One for the first DUG to post on the 500th page and one for the first TOPSIDER to post on the 500th page.
This is a bit fairer I think.

Humid here. We had a big storm last night but it has not really cooled things down.
Have a load of washing going through and then I think I will hit the air-conditioned bedroom and do some reading.
Nite all.

It may just be my opinion, Viv, but the offer for a prize to not only the first DUG to hit 500, but the first Topsider as well, is too much.
Just offering a prize to the one who TOPPs page 500 is more than generous. I, personally, will decline the second offer. Thanks for making it, anyway.

I've had a little practice with the bull whip, eaa. Before the Red Angus, I had some Limousins. They're NUTS! They'd just as soon attack as jump a fence. I always had a serious problem during calving season. When they calved, they went on the prod, and wouldn't let me near their calves. They got so bad after a while that they wouldn't even let me in the calving pasture. I had other cows as well, and I needed to check on them. I started carrying a bull whip to fend off the Limousins. I finally sold them all when 1) I couldn't get near another cow in labor to help her, and lost the calf, and 2) One went completely nuts, jumped the fence into the yard and chased us into the house. We had to shoot her.

Those 2 incidents happened a few days apart.
I did once have one of those Limousin cows actually catch me. The only reason I survived the attack was because I rolled under an electric fence while she was beating on me. I was bruised all over, but nothing was broken.

The Limousin are gorgeous animals, the most beautiful of all cattle. And they are wonderful if allowed to remain untouched. And we had a buyer for all of their calves we could produce.

But I decided that I could no longer deal with them or outrun them. After the first Limousin bull, I started using Red Angus bulls. Cows with only 1/4 Limousin in them were STILL dangerous as h*ll. I had major fights with IH over getting rid of the Limousin. He wanted to keep them all because all the University cattle specialists kept saying that Limousin/ Red Angus crosses were the ultimate beef animal. IH always listens to University beef specialists. I don't. To me, if they had all the answers, they'd be rich from raising perfect cattle instead of having low paying University jobs.

Once I finally put my foot down and got rid of all the Limousin, switching exclusively to Red Angus, the University types changed their tune. NOW they say Red Angus are the best breed, with the most uniformity and consistent high quality meat. IH now takes credit for the switch, saying that it was his idea.

We still have a FEW animals with a tiny bit of Limousin in them. They haven't given us any trouble..... at least until #9 decided to act up. I now have a zero tolerance policy for bad behavior. They get nasty, they leave. I SO look forward to #9 leaving.

Thanks for the info on old-time radio, Heidi! Very informative. I think I need to find a radio station around here that still offers the opportunity to hear the classics.

Heidi, I agree! Viv is much too generous to offer two prizes. Gath doesn't even do that! I was just "stirring" a little to create more interest so we can hit page 500 a little more quickly!

I know that, Viv. I was also thinking that the postage to the US or UK for all those goodies would be excessive.
