I love your thinking Tami! If it was every day it would be a problem, but why not on a special outing with their aunt and uncle??? That's the way memories are made!

I agree 1000% Suzy, that is why I don't care. They will remember today. I am mom and make the decision. Aunts and uncles are supposed to spoil nephews and do things that mom won't.

Sometimes being mom doesn't help when the grandmother is around though. I had told my kids they could have a new phone when they got a job - mostly because I hate seeing kids stuck to the blasted things. Guess what my kids got for christmas from their grandmother? And now she has seen her nephews Wii and has her eye on one of those for my girls. We don't have playstation, nintendo, xbox, wii etc for a reason - and it has nothing to do with money!!!!

Bean.... it sounds like an allergic reaction to something. Any red spots?

The men have been and left. They tracked down where the water was coming from, and caulked it thoroughly. It even looks fixed to me!

Tami.... where is it written into law that you have to have dessert last. Think of it as a great tasting appetizer!

Hi Heidi, good news about the leak. How is the tooth, back, leg and anything else I have missed?

Tooth seems to be doing great. Except for some barely visible cracks where I glued it back together, you can't tell anything happened. Otherwise, I'm trying to tale it easy. The leg is being seen on Jan. 2nd (I don't know why the Achilles tendon is inflamed so badly.... maybe from all the hardware in the area, which is why I scheduled the appt. with the surgeon who operated on that leg.)and the back is getting another Epidural pain block on the 6th. I just have to hold together until then.

Good morning everyone, Yeah its over with....
read all the comments from yesterday, mostly about food and leftovers, and all the yummy things you were all eating, I couldnt face food yesterday, I had a bowl of wheetbix at 7 pm and thats it for the day, felt I had a major sugar overload, so had heaps of water, and a few cuppa's, had a very relaxing day of dvd's and a book that I have started, and lots of nanna naps

Is it worth the waiting for?
If we live 'til eighty four
All we ever get is gru...el!
Ev'ry day we say our prayer --
Will they change the bill of fare?
Still we get the same old gru...el!
There is not a cust, not a crumb can we find,
Can we beg, can we borrow, or cadge,
But there's nothing to stop us from getting a thrill
When we all close our eyes and imag...ine

Food, glorious food!
Hot sausage and mustard!
While we're in the mood --
Cold jelly and custard!
Pease pudding and saveloys!
What next is the question?
Rich gentlemen have it, boys --
In-di-gestion!

Food, glorious food!
We're anxious to try it.
Three banquets a day --
Our favourite diet!

Just picture a great big steak --
Fried, roasted or stewed.
Oh, food,
Wonderful food,
Marvellous food,
Glorous food.

Food, glorious food!
What is ther emore handsome?
Gulped, swallowed or chewed --
Still worth a kin's ransom.
What is it we dream about?
Wat brings on a sigh?
Piled pieahes and cream , about
Six feet high!

Food, glorious food!
Eat right through the menu.
Just loosen your belt
Two inches and then you
Work up a new appetite.
In this interlude --
The food,
Once again, food
Fabulous food,
Glorious food.

Food, glorious food!
Don't care what it looks like --
Burned!
Underdone!
Crude!
Don't care what the cook's like.
Just thinking of growing fat --
Our senses go reeling
One moment of knowing that
Full-up feeling!

Food, glorious food!
What wouldn't we give for
That extra bit more --
That's all that we live for
Why should we be fated to
Do nothing but brood
On food,
Magical food,
Wonderful food,
Marvellous food,
Fabulous food,

Suzy, I know what you mean about grandmas. I gave my parents their only grandkids. They try to spoil them, but they do listen to hubby and me, most of the time. They did buy them both tv/dvd combos for their bedrooms a few years ago against my wishes. The boys have been pretty good. They ask before they turn on the tv, except if they get up before us.

I should be saying the same brekky time and then in to the garden,
just went out the back and the neighbor over the back fence is watering the garden, may have just made an enemy, she or he (never seen them) is obviously cleaning the fence or something as I got a spray, well I yelled out, I have rung about this before but as whoever is a senior they are allowed to water till 10 am.

They have asked us here in Melbourne to try and keep our water usage below 155 litres per day per person, on my last two water bills I was below that, and thats with a leaking toilet, that I have been nagging my landlord to fix.
He is having a few things done in the New Year,
Giving me an aircon, verandah, new back door, and fixing the loo..

verandah is the one I am very excited about.
But of course it will be small.
My girlfriend for christmas gave me, flower ball its a bag that you fill with potting mix and you put seeds into holes in it and it makes a ball of flowers, so when I get my verandah I will hang it out there.....

Be back later, the bell just went on the oven, have to turn it off but the pav stays in there for another hour to 'dry out' and become yummy and crisp on the outside, and gooey marshmellowy on the inside.

Bean, it's a come-as-you-are day! Don't tell me I have to go looking for the spack filler!
Can't wait for that bread. How did you know? I went down Main St this morning for some supplies and the bakery was shut so we are breadless!

Dropped back in and got Caz's wonderful news. Sounds like Bean and Gail are eating pav and fresh bread, Liz is eating nothing, Tami has parents a little bit like mine (TV in the bedroom is a dangerous thing - I'm glad your boys listen to you about that!).

Liz, when I was delivering the belly busters there was an older man who hosed down his driveway every day and lots of people with sprinklers. We are not on formal restrictions but are asked to be thoughtful and take common sense action - like watering gardens at night or early morning, don't wash hard surfaces, wash your car on the lawn not the driveway etc etc. It seems to only apply to people who care about other people.....

Whenever I buy bread, I but a whole lot of loaves, put them on freezer bags, and freeze them. I try to restock when there's one left in the freezer.

Good morning lovely SA7 people - as usual, I've not been here for a few days and I'm jumping in without reading because I'm not going to have time. Hope Christmas went well for all of you.
Ours was as good as I hoped it would be and it was wonderful to be together again and watch all 5 kids opening the sacks that santa leaves at Nanny and Poppy's. Ate too much, imbibed too much and mixed my drinks too much, and I could sleep for a week or two.
I hope I haven't missed anything earth shattering.

I don't have enough freezer space! I try to always have one loaf there for emergencies (I forgot to buy bread emergencies).

I should be pushing the hot slidy thing around, or running that thing that makes pants shorter. Don't wanna! Think I might read instead...

I had leftovers for supper. I cut it into little pieces so I could use back teeth only.

Heidi, been there, done that. When I was ten, I got hit in the mouth and couldn't bite with my front teeth for a week or so. My mom had to cut my food really tiny. Picture a sandwich cut into 16 pieces so I could put it in the back of my mouth.

OH TAMI and HEIDI, I had to have food "cut" into much smaller pieces when I was getting teeth pulled for dentures. I used the blender and had blended meals. Casseroles or things that could be put into soup together worked well, so I did not have to cook for hubby and then for me. Beef stew and spaghetti mush were both might tasty. Hot dog mush was also OK. the color was terrible, but I could get past that hehehe. I guess when you get tired of ice cream, jello (jelly) and creamed soups, you will try most anything.
