While I am here this morning, I was wondering if I could ask another favour of you all. I know I have been getting more than my fair share of late, but this is for one of my sisters.
I get a message a few days ago from another sis telling me that sis Narelle, the nurse, was in hospital. IT was the second time she had sought help for an incredible pain she had been experiencing. They suspected gall stones or a ruptured ulcer, which put the fear into me, because that is what Mum's emergency surgery was for.
Anyway, she was scheduled for surgery yesterday morning for gall stones but they ended up removing her gall bladder.
Please send her healing thoughts.

You guys are the best. I hope to go over to see her later today. The hospital is the other side of town and hubby would rather I not leave the house today as it is an extreme fire danger day in our area....No, he doesn't want me to burn! Just have to be here in case I have to make the decision to evacuate and grab as much as I can, kids, photos, spare clothes, important papers and the like. If I have time, I will get the cats too, but unfortunately, they are not high on the priorities totem pole. People first, everything else last.

Good morning everyone! Cooler today, but very windy. The flyscreen has blown off my upstairs window. Tried to reach it but couldn't. Tried to knock it off the roof, so I could retrieve it -now it is stuck in the gutter, standing on one end, ready to fall and impale the next passer-by. Ahh, one of THOSE days hey!

Gail - sending good karma for your sister. Hope she makes a speedy, complication free recovery.
Had another try with the flyscreen - got the broom and managed, after several attempts, to knock it down. Will put it back later - had to shut the window, as flies were getting in. Who'd have thought? ;)

Catch you later, and thanks for the positive vibes.

Gail Hope your sister has a speedy recovery. As if your family hasn't had enough to deal with.
That happened to me 20 years ago and in those days it was major surgery and I ended up back in hosp with a nasal gastric tube. That's another story!
Hope those bushfires stay away!

I'm here Judy but also have things to do.
Gail - I didn't mean to worry you about the ending up back in hospital. When I said it was another story, I meant an amusing one!! Apparently I had a blockage of some sort and in ER they inserted the tube which promptly slipped out by the time I got to the ward hours later. They thought they were going to put it back in and I told them, under NO circumstances was I going to have that forced back into my body. The more they tried, the more I screamed and woke up the entire ward. Eventually a big burly doctor came in, told me off and forced it into to me, while I was still kicking and screaming. The other ladies in the ward never let me forget what a sooky baby I had been and I think I recovered quickly due to the laughter and ribbing from those lovely people.

Brenda - please don't be shy about Skype. We're all a bit that way but, whether I am shy or not and whether I said something stupid or not, it was the most amazing thing to talk to Heidi, Tami, Lizzie and see Mariana (we didn't get to talk as she was having trouble with her mike). It was so cool.

Gail, that's three! Let's hope it stops there... How is she now? How is your son? A friend had her gall bladder out just before christmas. She is fanatical about her diet now and has never felt better. Sending thoughts and wishes for your sister hoping she has a similar outcome.

BTW - you had better not take too long to get back here or I will think the fires got you... off to check the news...

Judy, I know how you feel, sometimes if there's an interesting conversation going on I try not to post because everyone will leave!

Brenda, you should get a webcam. It is amazing to be able to talk to people all over the world. I can be a little shy when I am around new people. I have forced myself to overcome it, but I am still shy in certain situations. I feel like everyone here is my friend and that made it easy to talk to Vici, CynB and Heidi.

I have to grade a few papers now. It is actually getting cold here. It is supposed to be about 38 degrees overnight. That is cold for south Florida. I am going to bundle up and grade my papers. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Agreed, Suzy. Low rise with a short shirt is not a good look for a school uniform. Kind of defeats the purpose of it being a winter uniform doesn't it. I assumed you wanted high waist pants, but yeah, mid rise with a longer blouse is the way to go I would think. Wait till the staff start seeing all the knickers poking out the back! And maybe even g-strings (thongs)!!

Gail, I meant you didn't act too shy chatting up the hotties on St Kilda Beach!!! (Just kidding, but no, I wouldn't have thought of you as shy)
I consider myself fairly shy, but I can easily speak in front of a large audience - goes with the job I guess. I can make small talk with strangers, but in a big group I'm never one of the main speakers. Probably comes from always being told that you learn when your mouth is closed, not open.

Cyn, glad to hear you are on the mend...

Susan, not high waist - as you said the girls won't wear them these days - just mid rise would do. When I was doing my prac at the school my supervising teacher had an oopsy going with her g-string one day. I said nuffing!

I've found a page with fire activity in the last 5 hours in Victoria - only problem is that I have no idea where they are talking about!! Maybe fellow Victorians would know....

There are lots of them!

Now I must get back to this crazy, but much needed thingo I bought yesterday - scanner, printer, photocopier, fax combo. With our business we were always being asked if we had a fax, so when my printer died (scanner died years ago) I decided to get the all in one. We need a separate phone line for it, and rather than going through Telstra and paying the extra, am thinking of using VoIP through mynetfone. Has anyone got any experience with that?
