mariana... I am in that category. I don't speak to any of my siblings. One decided to tell me how much she's always hated me all her life, and the other is totally self absorbed and only calls me when she wants money... "loans" which don't get repaid. Since I won't "lend" her any more, she wants nothing to do with me. My brother and I were never close.

Hi ladies! I don't know if you will read my post on 'easy', so I've brought it here.....
I just received a note from Rayray! He says he is still recovering at his friend's "pad". On Christmas Eve he was discharged from the hospital, not because he was well, but because there was an outbreak of flu and he would be safer out of the hospital than in. Since his discharge he has More...
had a relapse from a blockage, and a MRSA infection that slowed the healing of his surgical wound. He says it is difficult to predict when he will be home and have access to his computer, but he hopes it will be soon.
Send up some Sudokuland prayers for him! As you can see, he has been through a horrible ordeal.

Morning All!
Kathy - thank you! When I toddle over to easy I'll leave you a message there too.
Stella - I'm glad Bryana's best friends remembered. I love the way you texted her all day long! What a great idea!! I hope Ian's foot is okay. He sounds like the type to keep going until he just can't anymore...
Heidi - good on you for not giving your sis any more money. A crisis is a crisis and I'd be there if I could - but a lifetime pattern is something different altogether...

We are back home early, actually got here before lunch. Had a change of plans.
I know most of you remember, venison makes up a big part in our heart healthy meals, and I have to find it during deer season. Had not found any, deer season soon over, and I had for 2 weeks been phoning the deer processing place every morning to be told none available today. Unclaimed deer can be obtained for the processing fee, but it is illegal to sell deer meat in Alabama.
OK, this morning, I phoned just before leaving to get squished. they had deer! I pleaded, can you hold 2 of them for me, I am on way to doc and will pick up on after. Yes, they could hold 2 deer for me till 1 pm. We got finished at the hospital early, went to wal mart for things we had to have, and picked up the deer by 11 am. Had to come home and put in freezer. YEAH, we have meat for the coming year! We can now have venison 3 nights a week for a year! Lot more hamburger than usual, but I can be creative. I am so very relieved now.

Lee – I love your family tree work! My grandparents apparently did some work on that, but I never got to see it and I don’t know where it went now they are gone. Apparently I have at least one convict, one bushranger and the first man knighted in Tasmania. I think it was Tasmania… something to do with sandstone anyway. Oh, and French royalty! That’s supposed to explain my big nose!!!
Tricia – I hope you don’t come home too tired from your big day – and I hope you get the ‘good’ technician! I have been getting white pages of doom on other pages as well, though SA seems worse, that’s probably only because it is so big compared to the others.

My news story for the day…. An Aboriginal community in the Northern Territory is going to symbolically welcome white people to the community on Australia Day. Apparently the elders went to the Shire Council with a proposal. Some white residents dress in British Uniforms and land on the beach – only this time they will carry bibles symbolising peace. There is more about it here http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=732034.
These people know how to do reconciliation!

Tricia, pleased you got your meat. We have deer farms here so I quess you can buy it year round. A lot of people invested in deer farms and made a lot of money but it but the meat here is not that popular and when there became too many farms people went broke.
Pleased the squishy is over for another six months.

Suzy I carry a pair of those glasses in a small coloured tube that you buy in the 'cheap' shops for about $5. They are small in my bag, and good for reading labels on tins, menus, etc.
Then just use my reading glasses for computer and reading at home.

June, those glasses don't seem to work for me - big and blurry! Funny story - I broke my glasses and had to put them in to be repaired. I was working at the time and really needed something. My old glasses weren't strong enough so I bought a pair of the cheap glasses. I ended up wearing the old pair AND the cheap pair at the same time.... it's the old astigmatism thing. Needless to say I kept my head down!!

June, is having Air con on over night such a rare thing for you? Here, ours are not ever turned off for 2 or 3 months! It does not cool down at night and humidity is always so very high. It would have to get very very cool to make up for the high humidity. I hate being inside with AC on! If were rich and famous, I would have a summer home where temps and humidity are more moderate, even if I had to go to Australia! That is why I am soo happy on a day like today. Light jacket and can be outside and comfortable if sitting in the sun.
I get more comments, positive comments, on my winter hat. usually just a "I like your hat", but today lady added, you wear it so well. Made me smile! Yes, still wearing my hats, cause between 9 and 3, we do get UV ratings higher than 3. Once I put it on, I just wear it till I get home again. HEIDI, I think I am beginning to be like you, I like my hats now!

A feel good story....
A baby shark created much excitement when it made a surprise appearance yesterday in a rock pool near Wollongong's City Beach.
The 1m baby shark, believed to be a dusky whaler, became trapped in the pool known as the Ladies Baths after a high tide and, with no means of escape, a lifeguard was recruited for the rescue mission about 11am.
Armed with a large white plastic sack and a flotation device, the lifeguard waded into the pool and attempted to catch the ankle-biter as a crowd gathered.
"He's there, he's there! Here he comes," onlookers cried as the shark eluded capture.
Father of three, Sam Michael, decided to help out. Armed with a red toy butterfly net he joined the lifeguard in the pool and together they sought to corner the marine creature. To no avail. The shark darted about the pool as the men faltered.
But just as the lifeguard was about to enlist a better catching device, the shark was cornered, struck and flipped through the air, landing in a neighbouring shallow pool.
Here it was quickly scooped up by Mr Michael and handed to the lifeguard who made a mercy dash to the ocean carrying the net aloft.
As the shark was released into the sea, a little boy burst into tears. "I wanted to cuddle it," screamed Daniel Michael, 4.

WONDERFUL story, Suzy. Finally a story where men don't just kill everything. People kill a LOT more sharks than sharks kill people, yet people call sharks dangerous beasts.

IH should be back soon. He keeps most of his goats on other people's farms, and one of those farms had a water line, to the barn, burst. He's off repairing it.
This is a guy who doesn't know one kind of screwdriver from another.

We baby sat last night as Laura's parents both had Scout Meetings. Ken was not feeling well so I drove home. Ahead of us was a long combined transport truck. I went beside him when we stopped at lights and continued up the road doing about 60-62k/h in a 60k zone. He then pulled out and got behind me and started flashing his lights. I had a car beside me so could not pull over and had no intention of speeding up to pass the other car. This huge monster sat hard on my tail so that if I had stopped suddenly he would have wiped me out.
I wanted to do a right hand turn a little further on and intended staying in the same lane any way. He then started blowing his twin horns (made me jump they were so loud). He was really trying to intimidate all drivers, especially me. As I pulled into the right lane for my turn off I asked Ken to get his number as I was concerntrating on driving and could only read the first couple of numbers. Ken just said "he has a Qld. number". And the truck roared on his way to Qld. I think he had possibly already come from Victoria and was dodging the tolls around the city and trying to make up time. If I had got his number I would have rang the police when I got home and they could have kept an eye out for him to see he behave on the rest of his trip north.
Some little old ladies are not easily intimidated!!! This was about 10.45pm
Started typing this 1 1/2 hours ago and have been on the phone with my sister!!

Mariana, I did not take your message like that at all! I was in full agreement with you, I do love my sisters. We are a normal family, we have had our ups and downs, in fact, I tend to keep my distance from most of them either through living far away or by choice! There is one sister in particular I have always been wary of because she was the one that would always cause a ruckus at any family do. But I have 'grown up' and got over it, I know realise how precious family is.
