Ian had a school project for Health class where he had to pick an issue concerning teens. He picked obesity. On his poster he showed a 16oz bottle of soda and 11 5 pound bags of sugar. The fact he posted to go with the pictures was that if you drink one bottle of soda a day, you will consume 57lbs of sugar in one year! Yikes!!

Broni - have a lovely trip.
Keeping Ally and her arm in my daily prayers and have sore knees from how much I've been down on them with Susan and her family in mind.
Also - hoping things improve for Heidi -
my goodness there is so much to be grateful for...especially you dear friends.

TAMI, I hope that temp holds true. the national weather service had the wind chill warning painted on the map down to Miami. I saw it first on the Melbourne FL site. although the predicted actual temp was in the 30's, the wind with this cold front is brutal, and it is dropping the 'feels like" temp by 10-15 degrees!
We have 2 more nights of it here, bbbrrrrr. If my furnace is having trouble keeping my house warm, I worry how cold it is inside Heidi's house.
Today with the wind blowing cold air through the holes in my Crocs, for the first time ever, it is too cold for Crocs without socks! I think I shall look for my wool socks now.

Maybe Heidi will go into the place with the public PCs to post again today - apart from keeping in touch with us she will be in a warm room for a while!

Morning all.
Poor Ally, she is a brave girl, hope she hasn't any pain any more. And poor Mum,hope you are now getting some worry free sleep.
Still have Heidi and Susan on my wish list that everything improves quickly, but the forecast for their areas doesn't suggest this.
Another cyclone could develop, and more cold on the way.
Have missed you Broni but have a great time.

Suzy, How is Ally's arm today. I had something the same when Sharon started high school. About the second week she fell off the parallel bars at school but I was out (buying bricks to build a BBQ) and no mobile phones in those days. Her break was just above the wrist.

Hi June, I woke Ally around 6 to give her some pain meds (empty stomach? bit worried about that) because she was in a fair bit of pain last night and I wanted to head it off a the pass today. She has gone back to sleep and will hopefully wake up pain free... or reduced anyway

I had a busy day yesterday. Took Laura to the Aquarium in the city. We went in by train. But typical when we got to the aquarium all she wanted were the sharks which were near the end of a one way stream of people. Hard to explain to 3 year pld that you will get there eventually. Was quite warm and the train coming home was not airconditioned.(Random trains arrive, some old , some newer, some with AC and others not)
I do not know how young people with families can afford to take their children to places like aquariums and zoos with the prices they charge. Cost me $15 for Laura as she has turned three.

Glanced through the posts last night but cannot remember now what comments I should have made.
Thinking of Susan and Heidi.
Must go and do some stuff so the floors can be Vacced while I go and do some shopping. A little girl has had some great fun with scissors and old Christmas cards. Was OK until she decided to cut them into very TINY pieces!

June, just went back to re-read some posts and realised the implication of your post about no phones and Sharon. How did they get around that? Did they call an ambulance? We didn't even have an answering machine back then!

Morning wonderful people.
Vici thank you for such a wonderful ripsnorter of a laugh so early in the morning.
Suzy I'm glad Ally appreciated her 'gentle' hug...I hope she will be up to singing on Sat [if that is what she wants to do]
Tricia it is mandatory for sewing rooms to look like that...or that is my story and I'm sticking to it!!

Hello lovely SA7 people.
Have I missed Broni? I wanted to say goodbye and I hope the weather isn't too hot down there.
Stella - what a coincidence - we saw 'Taken' the other day and I had the same reaction. I usually hate violence but if anyone hurt my kids or grandkids, I could happily kill them with my bare hands. And it is a warning to beware of strangers.
Nothing from Susan or Heidi yet today?
