BTW Suzy - you must be in stealth mode. There was no-one in my friends box. I thought I was all alone in the world of Sudoku.

I've got Brenda and Viv in mine. I turned it off when I was going through the morning rush because I knew I was then heading off to do the whole day rush and must have forgotten to turn it back on.

It's 8.15pm here and we haven't eaten dinner. We stupidly had a snack at 5pm and neither of us are hungry yet. I can see us barbecuing at 10pm and the neighbours reaction will be

Hi CynB and Suzy, I've just been catching up on the pages added while I was asleep.
Weather here is sunny but very very cold. We had lots of rain on Monday which melted some of the snow but we still have it lying in shaded places like my back garden.

Hi Brenda, weather here was very warm and humid today but we really have nothing to complain about compared to other parts of Australia and the world.
I'm just trying to send everybody a hilarious email I just received. I hope you get it - I can't stop laughing at it!

The roads have been very icy this morning and there have been loads of accidents, fortunately I didn't have a problem when I took hubby to the station earlier.

Email hasn't arrived yet.
I'm not worried by our weather at present, first thing I check on the BBC news is how things are going in Victoria.

Well I have got to go and do ffuts. Then I have to make an 18th birthday card. Last week I had to quickly make a baby card for a teacher who works with my daughter. They were in school last Wednesday and got a message to say that Dad was going to bring his week old baby in to see them the next day. They didn't get the message until late in the day and the roads being a little dangerous Elaine offered to get me to make a special card for them all to sign. I did this, but the next day school was closed again and visit was put off. When the other teachers saw the card they were impressed and one has asked if I could make an 18th birthday card for her daughter so that is what I am going to do this afternoon.

Hi MizT and anyone else around.
Thank you for the lovely comments about Kira.
Yes she looks twice as heavy as she really is in her clothing. She is cute though and I was glad I had a visit with her.
Have been busy Avoning here again. Next lot of orders go in tomorrow evening.
I must check if my doctor will be in on Friday morning or not yet. She hurt her back and I was supposed to see her last Monday after my having to visit the ER.
Must hit the sack now, another busy day tomorrow.

Over cast today, and temps very warm for overnight in Feb. Overnight low was 60, that would be a warm feb daytime high, usually, but what is usual about our weather now?

Someone want my share of the midday rain expected here? Now that is normal, it gets this warm and humid in Feb, a storm front will come through and wring all the moisture out as rain. Thunderstorms today, heavy and possibly severe (as in tornado producing thunderstorms, there has been some history of tornadoes with this system) but scheduled for mid day, and not tonight as first forecast. Mid day suits me better thank you. We will monitor weather and go to shelter if needed.

Wish I could send these rains to Victoria!

Hugs to all those in harms way.

Hi VIV, BYE Viv

HI Cyn, Bye Cyn

Good Morning Heidi

Heidi, been looking at weather maps, it looks like you have a longer period of rain headed to you today than I have, and you said you already had 24 hours of rain. I imagine that is slowing down the clean up efforts with the downed trees?

Yes MizT, I got your email. Don't think anyone would come close to Brenda, but since you could name the states, you get lots of points for your effort. You lost some but for using the word capitol instead of capital. hehe. Brenda might cry if you get the same prize, so I'm thinking that I could grant you a 6 week all expenses paid trip to Australia. Suzy's paying.

I'm back! The weather cooperated for the drive. Now I need to hose out the trailer.
There are high winds moving in later today.... big storm front. "They" are saying that there's a high probability that we're gonna lose power again. I hope "they" are wrong.

Susan, thank you for the prize! I am most happy to accept and will send Suzy my mailing address so she can get my tickets to me, and we can discuss my itinerary. I would really like to visit each of the states whose names I got correctly. Sorry about the misspelling of capital, blame it on my spell check! I do rely on that a bit too much.

Now, we can have the same contest again next year. I can brush up on all the states capitals, and more of the small territories too.

I was most surprised to learn that Australia had a territory in Antarctica. I learn so very much on this site!

Oh Heidi, having just been through two floods in one week, surely you couldn't be so unlucky to suffer twice as well. I have a generator big enough to power your whole house - would send it if I could.
I'm off to bed now, but tomorrow would love discuss something you brought up - fire breaks.

HEIDI, so happy you are back home and keeping everything crossed in hopes you do NOT loose power again.

We have some breezes already here, the rains along the "front" approching our area is very thin , rain will not last 15 minutes at rate it is traveling. I have not heard about how strong the winds with it might be as it comes through. guess I should do a look up of that soon.

Susan, I just read a most interesting news article about fire breaks! I did not know the government dictated what trees could be cut down on one's own property! Seems one man ignored their rules, cut trees from 100 meters around his home back in 2002, and successfully stayed and defended his home from the worse of the firestorms! I must find that article again and send a link.

BTW, he was fined heavily for cutting the trees. His fine plus about 2 years worth of legal fees were over $100,000.
