i agree that color should never be an issue in deciding who one should vote for, but it is such a showing of progress for all american people! my son said very jokingly, "well, i guess i can't use that as an excuse anymore." but in a way it's true! nothing is holding him back now! he had a very terrible experiance when he was 9. he was on a school field trip and was discriminated against by a racist vendor at the state fair. the aclu got involved, members of the nba jazz basketball team came and talked to his classroom, a member of the senate called to express his concern, and people from all over sent him gifts to let him know that the vendor was an exception and he was loved. it was so hard on him. he was an extremely shy boy, who liked to read and play games with his family. he had no idea really that his skin color was an issue with some ignorate people. even though we told him not to be, he was so embarrassed! it made me cry to think that my sweet innocent child had to learn such an ugly lesson at such a tender age. to have a nation now vote a black man to be their leader is a concrete reasurance and confirmation that all options are available to him. i imagine these emotions are shared by millions of african americans, and i say it is about time!!!!

Better go fling food I suppose. Chinese Pork tonight. A bit convoluted, but well worth the trouble. (Hubby does the last stage).

mariana, I would have liked to be there to kick that vendor myself. It would be bad enough to do that to an adult, but to a child? That's nothing short of disgraceful.
I must tell you about my own 'racist' experience in the US. I was on Amtrak, and ordered a white coffee (which is what Aussies call coffee with milk, otherwise called black coffee if no milk is added). The very tall, muscular African American waiter accused me of being racist. He was very threatening. I can laugh now, but it wasn't funny then. I was quite scared.

Finished tutoring and have to go fling pans about but.....
Susan, I think it would be easier now than it used to be because of unmarried parents, single parents and grandparents raising parents - which are much more common now. I hope so anyway, for the kids' sake.

Hi Sophia. I have no idea.
Susan, around here that's called reverse racism.
Mariana, to single out a child like that says a lot about his character in general. What a small "man."

Liz, yes it was Fleet, very salty but just skulled it with water, the quicker the better I reckon. Did not want to be going anywhere for a few hours after that.

Multi-tasking here tonight.
It is warm in Port but have a nice breeze coming in the sunroom windows and have a small fan going.
I can swing around to my roll top desk which is my sewing table at the moment.
So far have repaired two of Ethan's polo tops for school.
