Went to the pain management doctor yesterday. Not much new. She does not think I have carpel tunnel as it is not sore, just numb fingers. However I will still wear the brace at night (my decision). I am not really in pain, there are just things I cannot do or it hurts. Sometimes my shoulders ache during the night or first thing in the morning. It is more that I cannot lift anything or dress myself.

Gekko my friends.
Have read a bit so hope you are all well and happy.
Sorry I have not been chatty of late.
Cousin left Monday morning by Monday afternoon my cousin Maz who passed away late last year, her children started harassing me. To cut a long story short the police are aware but cannot do anything, the children are now aware of this and since they both have police records think things should settle down. Has been a frightening time for Bella and me.
On a brighter note my third appliance (front loader) should be repaired next week, Bella's hair is growing back nicely from the op, I now have a painted middle bedroom, bathroom and laundry, my gutters are clear, fence is repaired and the sun is shining.
Theresa, did see the kittens on TOS so cute, you mentioned one may have six toes?

Hi all... Been doing lots of sleeping recently and reading too, but thought I had posted more recently than I have...This past week I have been running back and forth to the doctors regarding the ongoing leg pain. There were no clots found which was a good thing but the pain and swelling increased to a point where I could not walk. This lead me to once again visit my doctor for another look...this time, after double consultation with others, a diagnosis of erythema nodosum was a real possibility so I was sent to a Dermatologist so that a biopsy could be done. this was done and a scrip for prednisone was recommended...but never got called into the pharmacy...my family docs had given me a narcotic which proved so very strong and disagreeable that I was out of it. My daughter came over after work, saw what was going on and had been working the phone to try and get help. While she was on her cell trying to get neds from the new doctors at the Dermatology folk...my family doctors called me to see how I had made out...after hearing my plight...pain,overly strong meds playing havoc with my system and sleep, poor service, etc..they called in the prednisone scrip and daughter was able to pick it up w/o a problem...she was very impressed with the car and consideration from my family doctors...I was too, but I wasn't surprised. Still some good care givers who take time to do right by their patients even when others fail to hold up under todays rush rush practices to really take the needed time with new patients especially. Long story to say meds are keeping me sleepy at times and awake at others so I never know when my regular pattern, such as it was will return, but I am happy that at this time my pain is being controlled and I return in two weeks to have the stitches removed from the biopsy and to get the lab results I guess. More news when I know.
Sorry to hear so many are having a heap of challenges from ungrateful family members really being ugly and scary to old folks afraid to face the ultimate end of life in a manner they don't understand or accept,to all of the pain so many of us are dealing with...as someone said recently...pain sucks...and it does, makes it hard to keep moving but yet there are so many things that we get to enjoy that help us forget the pain after a while and allows the sun to shine for us...that we just can enjoy the lemonaid. Broni, Midge, June, Nola, Theresa, Heidi and Tricia..sending the sunshine your way and hoping it shines for a real long time. Julie...sending you a little cooler sun and a few clouds to allow you lots of refreshing sleep from all of your busy days, and Rola...you have that bundle of sunshine to cuddle and enjoy in Felix...think I remembered his name, didn't want to lose the post by checking...and I do know you have a ton of love in your heart..have fun. Take care all, and if I missed naming someone, it's all the meds fault...but I love ya all.Peace...I'm off to bed.

I feel a fraud when I read all that Mamacita, Heidi, Midge, Suzy, Tricia and some others of you have in the way of pin and illness. With limitations about lifting anything life is pretty normal for me. I had a nice day with Belinda. We went shopping and also lunch while we were out. She brought Mini (the 6 month old pup) with her. Mini stayed here when we went shopping. She is a funny little thing, barks for attention and loves to play. She is very deaf and still has her baby teeth which are very sharp. She has grown quite a bit but still very small compared to her parents and siblings.
Saw your kittens Theresa. Hope that you are able to find homes for them all.

Greetings friends, Reporting in to let you know all is well. My only problem is I am sleeping too much, but pain levels are way down, so I can handle sleepy. If something is interesting enough I can manage to stay awake, most of the time at least. I think it is pain meds doing it. Before this month when the sleepy began, I was either sleepy or wide awake and energized, much like Mamacieta said happened with her. this month's pain med was from a different manufacturer and somehow it is only making me sleepy. some small variation of the med somehow, at least that is my thoughts on it.
Still no rain. I tried watering the row of lantana yesterday, they have stopped blooming. that requires 2 hoses and running one across the drive way. I was watching for cars, the only one that came by was nice enough to stop till I could move hose so car did not run over it. Somehow, though, that X hose that shrinks and is light weight, the outer covering began to unravel, the inner part began to balloon out, and before I could reach the hose bib to turn it off, the dern thing Burst with a loud noise! that is the second one this year, they just do not last! I only used it once a week, and was very careful of it to not get it snagged. I do think our very high water pressure from the outside spigots is part of the cause. Not gonna try another, bummer. I loved it because it was so light weight. I kept it in a bag, and could loft it with one finger, a 75 foot hose!
I need to go and trim some azeleas, they are keeping part of our ferns from getting water and they are dying off. Loraine just came to tell me, I have the clippers and the ability to get in there and cut them, she is totally wheel chair bound. So something interesting to keep me awake a while today
.
June, the puppy sounds so cute, glad it managed the trip to visit you. I hope you enjoyed your shopping trip. did you buy anything beautiful?
Julie, thanks for letting us know all is well with you. I hope your busy days slack up just a tiny bit soon. we miss hearing a regular post from you.
Heidi, so sorry your pain is still so high. I could give you some of my sleepy pills, but you seem to be doing OK with the sleep by yourself, and out respective pain management docs wold not like the medication sharing hehehe. Hope you feel better soon friend.
Mama, I am glad your daughter was able to get your medication for you, and I hope it gives the needed relief. sleep when the medication makes you sleepy and find something to occupy your time when it keeps you awake. Reading works well for me, seems it does for you also. Hope the results of your biopsy are good. Take care, sending lots of gentle hugs your way.
Broni, how terrible that Maz's children have started harassing you. I hope things settle on that score soon. It is so sad what relatives can do sometimes. Hugs to you too sweetie.
Teresa, thanks for putting up photo of the kittens. I love that palest yellow one, and the black o

Hi all. My sincerest apologies for being gone from site for so long. I have been using my tablet mostly and going to tos and forgot that some are not on there. I also realized that we can say things on here that we won't say on other site. I have not read the posts, just this page. I do miss all of you. Here is a quick summary of my life. It has been a busy year. Dylan had his Bar Mitzvah in February. I posted a few pictures on tos but still have not gone through the proofs. The photographer took almost 800 pictures, almost double what he took of Mitchell's. It will take forever to sort out. The boys are doing good. Dylan is starting 8th grade in the fall and Mitchell will be a senior. We have started looking at colleges. When did I get old enough to have a kid in college??? I swear, I am only 29. This fall I will be starting at a new school. I was at my previous school for 10 years and did not feel appreciated. It is time for a change. I am going to be slightly closer to my house, but not much. It is a 6-12 school so that is a big change. I will be teaching math, but not sure what grade yet. This has been a rough week. I cracked a tooth on Monday. Luckily it is not painful but the tooth needs a crown. Work will start on that next Friday. Car battery died today. When I got battery replaced, my mechanic advised me to get two new tires. We are driving to Tampa in a few weeks and he suggests getting them before we make the drive. I trust my mechanic so I have to start getting prices. He carries tires but agrees I can get them cheaper elsewhere. He mostly works on engines. So much for my update. I promise I will try to get here more often. I really miss the people here, especially those not on the other site.

Tami, I hope you find a really good price on some great tires for your car. I feel really good, my new last year tires are holding up very well. A friend noticed one of my tires was low, we could not find a service station that had air, so stopped at a tire store. she went in to get them to check and air tires. cost us $5, but they told us my tires looked brand new! Well, not a lot of mileage on them so that is the reason I imagine.
HI Julie and Brenda, good to see you drop in for a short comment.
Congrats to Mitchell on being a senior this year, and hope you enjoy looking for colleges forhim. I remember the first family photo you posted, so no, I cannot imagine you having a son going off to college either :).
Today was the tea for friend Lynn, aka Belinda. Four of her five daughters and families were here, and put on the tea. I did not see the scones, guess they never found someone to make them as advertised. Wonderful cupcakes and we had English 'Crackers', they were too pretty to pull hehehe. So many hats available for those who did not come in a hap! Even the young grandchildren or great grands were in facinators! Her grandson even wore a hat, a straw Aussie kind of hat, so cute him getting into the spirit of the party. Hot tea, iced tea and lemonaide were served and to die for cup cakes, chocolate with chocolate chips. total sugar overload for me, but I enjoyed every bite of it! One of the daughters is a photographer, and set up a photo booth where groups or singles could have photos taken. Lots of residents had group photos made with Lynn, until she got tired. In all, a lot of fun. so nice of the family to do this for Lynn and include all of us in the party.
I am off to do my dinner dishes and begin getting ready for bed. It is after 9 pm, and even though I had a nap after the party I am sleepy again.
Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

OH, I forgot to say, we had live music for the tea! A lovely pianist, accompanied by a guitarist, played everything from oldies to classical music. Enjoyed that very much.
there were china tea cups, each different with it's matching saucer, I have NO idea where they got those, but most anything is available if you know where to look. Only one of the daughters lives here, so a lot of phoning and internet checking to find everything they wanted! One of the girls works at a really upscale Hotel here, and I am sure she has contacts of where to find most anything.
And of course, hap! was supposed to be hat!
Now I am really gone, hugs!

Good Morning All. A happy Sunday wish for you from here as you move about today.
Things seem to be healing and my pain is under control with the meds, but I'm still not sleeping in a regular pattern yet. No telling when that may happen and I'm just extra lazy now, so I'm just doing what I feel up to when I feel up to it, but look forward to a returning of real life soon.... As soon as I typed those last few words, I had to smile because so often I've complained about 'having' to do something when I didn't want to ...and now I'm complaining because that's all I can do...nothing. Life is funny. We get stuck thinking in the negative rather than on what we can do...boy. my butt got kicked into that lesson quickly for the day...unexpected too. I wanted to say more, but after that epiphany I think I need to regroup and get myself back on the good side of this thing we call life. Take care all and be grateful for all that we already have rather than what we think we want...hmmmm...gotta think...I'll be back. Peace.

Heidi, I hope getting that tooth taken care of will reduce your pain load some. I know your back is screaming and you say tooth is not that bad, but the greater pain and the meds could be masking the tooth pain. Getting rid of any pain can help you over all, so anyway, that is my wish for you!
We have rain! I am almost afraid to write it, afraid I will scare it away. It is not a large shower, but it is centered right over us, and not moving except to build. SHUCKS, it stopped before I could type this, but I am glad for what we did have. Even a bit of rain is better for plants than watering from the hose. Radar shows it is still raining all around us, even shows we are getting rain, which we are not at the moment. Perhaps we will got more.
Bought groceries today and have them put away, all in same day, yeah! I must have bought more, or more expensive items, cause I sent more than usual. I bought enough to make another pan of vegetable lasagne. Was going to start chopping veg for it, but remembered I have doc appointment tomorrow, so would not be able to finish it in AM. I plan now to start it tomorrow. There are so many veggies to prepare, it takes quite a while to get it ready for oven, and I often have to take breaks before getting it all done. Egg plant, Zuchinni, yellow squash, fresh spinach, mushrooms, bell peppers, onion, and turkey sweet Italian sausage. I think I am forgetting something. All that to be sliced or chopped, then sauteed, before making up the cheese component, but I do love it and it is a complete meal in one dish, and it freezes well. I bought a disposable aluminum pan for it, my oven proof
largest pan is not big enough. I am sure the reason I spent more on groceries than usual is buying all of that! It takes 3 kinds of cheeses, and 2 containers of prepared marinara sauce (less sugar and carbs than spaghetti sauce so fits my eating plan better.)
Mama, we all at times begin to see only what we cannot do and not what we can. You are no exception to that. I always just try to find something good when I get to thinking that way. Like today, I am happy I not only went to two groceries, bought more groceries than usual, that I have the funds to pay for them and the energy to get them all put up today. Even though it is not raining as hard as it was, I am happy that it is raining, and hope it continues for a while. I have not slept all day today, pain levels are in the good range, life is good. I do a lot of venting and complaining here, nowhere else to take my complaints, and all of you are kind enough to listen and give an encouraging word, you do not know how much that means to me. As I in the past told Al, I have to complain sometimes, to let off steam, or I would explode hehehe. That is why it is called venting!
Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

My, how I wish everyone could be pain free. I am okay except for headaches every day and not seeing well. I am getting used to getting so-called clean dishes out of the cupboard and finding they are not so clean after all!
My grandie who turned 11 not that long ago has a new boyfriend. His family came to Canada from Jamaica about 8 months ago. He is 10. On the weekend he showed up with flowers for her because it was their two-month anniversary. What 10 year old boy remembers anniversaries and gets flowers? They are so cute together ... he calls her his little tatta chip! I think my daughter is going to have her hands full in the very near future!!!
In 2000 I had a fall and tore the rotator cuff in the right shoulder. I went for physio for 8 months and finally broke down and had acupuncture done. I was skeptical, but in the end I think it was the acupuncture that helped. It still acts up from time to time and I now have arthritis in it, but I remember the pain I had at the beginning. I couldn't even hardly life a coffee cup.

My daughter tells me that one of the orange kittens has 7 toes on one foot and 6 on the other. I can't see well enough to tell. Heidi, I do have a polydactyl cat already and he is rambunctious and full of spit and vinegar. He goes on rampages throughout the house. He is quite often bullied by two of my other cats, but he waits until they are sleeping and then jumps on them and smacks them and runs like heck. His name is Mitts because his paws are so big it looks like he's wearing mittens.

This evening was interesting. We had another cow get pink-eye, and had to get her up and treated ASAP. Which meant I had to be out there sorting cows and helping treat her. The pain is starting to really hit now. Tonight and tomorrow are going to be a real experience. I don't know if I'll be able to check in after the tooth pulling. I expect to get from the truck to the house SOMEHOW and go straight to bed.

Well I have just got back from the opticians. My regular check up and I need new specs for distance. So I pick a frame I like.... £260....I know I have expensive taste. Go and get measured for them, choose transitions colour. He then offers me a choice of coating to stop scratches and dirt build up oh and UV protection. The transitions protect from uv so why would I need that, it's only another £50. No thank you. Final price for specs £380 plus £25 for test. Ah I have a voucher for a free test, then I remember I had just been to the chemists and got a voucher for £20 off new glasses. So for the 'bargain' price of £360 I will be able to see properly in a week to 10 days. Thank goodness I didn't need my computer ones changing too. Would have had to take out a mortgage. I haven't told this to Richard yet so no blabbing to him :-)

Back from the doc. I had an 11:15 appointment, bus needed to take me at 10:30, so I got there early. They took me right in anyway, and I was finished with the doc before time for appointment even. He wanted some labs and a bone density scan, so they checked and could do the bone density that day, at 11:30. I was finished and home by a bit after 12. So very much better than waiting for hours for my old doctor!
Broni, I will write down recipe as I make it this time, cause I had changed it from the recipe in the book. I need to start chopping the veggies in a bit, but first a nap is in order.
OH, told doc about the sleepies I have had, he too thinks from my pain meds, and decided perhaps a vitamin B shot might energize me a bit. After we had chatted a bit, him typing all the stuff straight into computer, he asked what else. I told him that was about it, and he says 'boy you are letting me off light today' hehehe. We had covered about 5 things that had been going on, I thought that was quite a bit myself.
June, I know what you mean about being up for a bit during the night. I do that also, and call it intermission hehehe. It starts with needing the bathroom, and usually it is time for meds or my middle of the night snack, but I am less stiff in morning if I am up for a while. I read an article about 'the second sleep'. It seems in the early 1800's, I think it was, that there is reference to people going to bed at dark in winter, which is early, then up in the middle of the night. they might read, have sex, or even go visit neighbors, in their bed clothes! then after a while, back to bed, and this was called the second sleep. See, it is nothing new at all, they way you and I are sleeping hehehe.
Weather site said we got an inch of rain with our little shower yesterday. I do need to go down and check out the garden, but will wait till more of it is in the shade this afternoon. the sun is baking hot, but it is nice in the shade we have a nice breeze. I know the urns that are under cover will need watering.
Heidi, hope the tooth is out, it was today you had it done, right? Sorry you had to get out into pasture and sort cows with your back screaming at you. I do hope it is a bit better now.
Brenda, eye docs can keep adding this and that and next thing you know the price has doubled! It is good you had a couple of vouchers, that saved a lot. I do hope you like the glasses when you get them and they help you see just fine for a nice long time.
Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Hi All...I'm feeling fairly well today...I've had a good sleep and have been able to do a few things w/o undue stress AND the meds are working well to relieve the swellings and the pain...that's why I am sleeping better too. Now tomorrow I finally get to visit the dentist and start over again . I had teeth knocked out from my accident and what with all of the other things that needed to be taken care of, this part has been left hanging...now to see if I can get my teeth back in shape. I will have to have some new ones added...I just don't know how much I can now afford w/o dental insurance, but anything that will at least allow proper chewing of my food will be helpful for now. I'm reminded that Heidi is due to have dental work done today...hope she's able to deal with it with all the pain her back is giving her....yes, pain really takes its toll! brenda...the cost of those glasses sounds like another pain that hurts...I've been there too...no fun, but good to be able to see again...hope your vision doesn't require a new change any time soon so you can get the value from them. That being said tho, I was faced with skimping a bit the last time I got new glasses and chose a cheaper frame to my regret...I hate the glasses...they don't fit right and I don't use them...so I really wasted money. Had I gone with the more expensive ones that were to my liking, I would have gotten the value from them...so enjoy and forget the cost. June, you are no fraud simply because you don't think your pain is like others...pain is pain....and when your body won't let you do what needs to be done without screaming or even just a short scold, it hurts...so never feel like you shouldn't...not here anyway...as Tricia said...vent or explode...and we don't want any explosions...lol.Broni, You are so welcomed...its okay to have a pity party, but it also a time to move on and it sounds as if you are doing it day by day...cool. Hang in there ...we care.Theresa, I forgot to tell you how cute the kittens were too...but glad to see a few more post from ya. Your grand daughter's boyfriend sounds cute and thoughtful, but they are a little young...what do the parents think? I know the kids are moving faster today, but would enjoy seeing them be kids longer...we know how hard it can be being grown...but we also know that we couldn't wait to grow up either...sigh...things will work out for everyone...stay as well as you can and don't worry about things that you can't control is about all that you can do.Tricia, hope you got enough rain to give your flowers the rainwater you'd like them to have and to cut into your need to use the hose for a day or two.Enjoy the lasagne but do rest those hands as you cut all of the veggies...that's hard, but great sounding results as well as the many meals it offers for later. Okay folks...It's time to move about and see whats going on on some of the other sites...take care...I care. Peace!

Very wise words, again, from Mamacita!
I feel a lot better than I expected to at this time. The tooth with the cracked root has been pulled, the cyst in the gum adjoining it has been removed (THAT came as a surprise!. I thought it was just swelling from the broken root). And the back didn't object that much. The hole from the extraction was filled with a matrix used to stimulate bone growth, packed with antibiotics, then stitched shut. There's very little swelling or pain. But I am tired, so am heading back to bed.

Heidi, how glad I am that pain is a bit less today! Not nearly as glad as you are, I am sure. Seems your mouth was in worse shape than you thought eh?
Mama, I love reading your posts. The veggie chopping is not that hard, I have a sharp chiefs knife and chop on a cutting board, not much strain on the hands that way. It is the standing I have to take a rest from, have not been able to adapt my use of the chefs knife from a seated position. YES, lots of Tricia's frozen dinners from the making of that lasagna. I did NOT get started today, my nap turned into a marathon sleep, so much for vitamin B12 energizing me hehe. Maybe I need to buy something with caffeine, I do not have a thing that is not decaffeinated in the house. I do hope you can get your teeth into better shape without too great expense.
I am off to take evening meds and have my bedtime snack, then off to bed for me. I did not get outside today to check the garden, it was one of our hotter days today. tomorrow is forecast to be MUCH cooler, in the 70's till late afternoon at least, and an excellent day to be outside.
Hugs to each of you, with extras, once again.

Hi everyone
Heidi, I hope you are feeling ok. You are really doing it tough with your pain from both a tooth and your back. Just when you needed to rest, you have the cows to worry about.
Mama, that's great that you are feeling better and you, reminding us how lucky we are, is really true.
Broni...gosh, I hope you are safe. Why some people cannot be civil is awful especially family members.
Tami...gee, it was nice to see a post from you after so long. The boys are really growing up, and yes, time flies alright. I hope your new teaching position is more enjoyable and that you get appreciated more. It is Renaes 38th birthday today, which is hard to believe for both of us. Hehe
June...a long time ago, I had acupuncture for what I was told was carpel tunnel, which they changed to tennis elbow, and the acupuncture worked. About 3 weeks later, it was gone. The chinese Dr said it was caused from my neck. Just a thought, because I also had numb fingers. All the best!
Theresa...Thanks for getting the picture up of the kittens. I have never heard of them having more than the normal set of toes.
MizT...its always enjoyable to hear about your garden, cooking and life. Even better, was how your pain had lessened.
Suzy...I hope you are just busy and everything is alright. You are probably on TOS. Wishing you well with your problem pains too.
Julie...how is the cello prac going? Great to see you post when you can, to let us know how you are.
Brenda...how are you enjoying the end of winter over there and are you interested in gardening too?
I have had the ECG and stress test and thought I did quite well until I saw the Dr. Now I have to see a heart specialist. I am looking at the positive that all will come out fine once again. It gave me a scare though.
Greg and I went to the Nambour Garden Festival and I got some novel ideas on potting up different things around the place that normally you would throw away. Of course, I bought little plants, the bigger ones were so expensive. Flowers in a mass display are just beautiful.
Take care everyone.

How difficullt is it to organise a meal out for a group of 10 people....well we have found it is impossible. On a Monday night we go to a quiz, there are 5 of us and 5 from our friends family.
There is a cash prize for each of the 4 rounds in the quiz. We were quite successful last year and won £340. We spent this on a meal in January. So far this year we have won £370. One of the team is going back to his home at the end of August, so we thought we would go for another meal. So far we are up to October and still cannot find a time when everyone is available. The guy who is leaving is willing to come back just for the meal. The way it is going we will be looking at next year before everyone is available....Christmas is coming so Nov and Dec get hectic for the other family.

We have a quiz at the bowling club this Friday night. Very small prizes such as bottles of wine and chocolates.
our son is in Sydney again this week so we will have dinner with him tomorrow night. I will get my hair cut in the morning.

Nola, the problem with my fingers is from my neck. I see that specialist at the end of this month. Because I also have some issues with my shoulders I am not sure what problem is shoulders and what is from the pinched nerves in my neck. If it means an operation at some time on my neck I would like to have it this year. Not wait till I am older and also if I wait it means some discomfort until it is done. Also we have reached the safety net with Medicare so it would cost us much less.

How am I to get to sleep when Hubby is watching the TV in the bedroom.
Tricia I loved your story about the second sleep. Not sure about doing all those activities though. The computer and a hot milk drink is about all I can manage.
