A touch of fall yesterday and last night. High temp for the day yesterday was only 79, with low humidity, cool and crisp with a breeze. Some of these old folks here were sporting their light weight jackets hehehe Last night's low was in the 50's. I slept with windows open, so nice, until 6 am when trash pickup. We have large dumpsters down the parking area. Not directly under my window, but close, 3 of them, that are picked up by mechanical arms on the truck, raised up then shook. Makes for a loud noise when windows are open.
I think I shall go back to bed for a while, with windows closed cause residents are beginning to move about, the early risers, that is. More later.

Gekko my friends.
Seems a bit quiet around here, but glad to hear most of you are coping. Big hugs for those who need them and more hugs for anyone wanting a hug.
Love your TOPP June, yes we survived those years and are still here to remember in a different way.
Well this getting old business has whiskers on it!
No biggie, just have high blood pressure that is now being treated by medication, still on the antibiotics(going away for 2 weeks next month so want this thing well and truly gone!) Looks like I have Hemochromatosis which is my body retaining iron in my blood and it is hereditary, will know for sure this Friday. The most common treatment is taking blood but sadly I cannot donate they just throw it away.
June, doing an overnighter in Sydney on the 9th of October but staying near the airport because I am flying out early morning to Bathurst so may be hard to catch up.
Luv and Jugs to you all.

Hi Broni, sorry to hear about the possible diagnosis. My friend Celia's son has Hemochromatosis, along with the blood tak8ng,he just has to watch what he is eating...no iron rich foods.
Nothing much happening here at the moment. The weather is still quite pleasant, nights are drawing in and soon it will be dark when I pick Richard up from work.

Another lovely night's sleep with the windows open! At 9 am here, temp is low 60's, lovely cool weather at the moment, but will be warm by 3 pm.
Tanya and I made 5 rice socks yesterday, to sell o the crafts table at Fall Festival. Cannot yet decide what to ask for them. They cost $2 in fabric and rice, but the fabric was bought loooong ago, and the rice a bit at a time knowing I wold be making these. Used 8 pounds of rice. Might make a few more, still have rice left over. I also did the measuring to make pattern for cushion covers. Tanya only has about 8 cushions, pillows, on her bed, decorative ones, but wants covers for big 24 inch square pillows, in black. Her spread is in black and cream. She brought me an old cover in style she wanted, so easy enough to take measure from that.
Not a lot going on other than that. Reading a book, one I get upset with how it goes and put down on occasion in disgust. anyone else do what with a book? Have to remind myself it is just a book and then get back to it hehehe.
Heidi, I hope your back is getting better, but not hearing from you in 24 or more hours makes me think you are in bed with it. Get better soon friend.
Broni, sorry to hear about the new malady you are dealing with. I guess there could be worse things. I do hope it is manageable, and hope the BP responds to treatment, with no side effects from the medications. I got a laugh at the 'has whiskers on it' comment, not heard that one before.
Julie, good to see you drop in for a hello.
June, thanks for the lovely TOPP, and hope you have the best new beginnings.
Today is scrabble, must remember. I am off to shower and start my day now. Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Hello all...My day has not started...Since Jazz still gets night mixed up with day occasionally, I have remained in my PJ's all day and a good part of the day sleeping...I'm still sleepy, but wonder if I'll be awake all night...gee...I feel like I did when I had a new baby just home from the hospital with this sleep pattern...oh well...this too shall change.
Good to know most are doing fairly well, and Heidi, hoping the back is benefiting from rest and as little as possible movement. Broni, I too hope your flu symptoms are well gone so that you will be able to travel w/o that mess, and I know you will be able to deal with the other things as they come a long...whiskers and all. You are so right...growing old is for the strong...and we must be a heck of a crew...lol..As the oldest one here, I love my younger crew members coming to full knowledge of just how strong we are...we will continue to overcome! Take care all..be good to others and better to yourselves. Peace.

Resting the back??? I'm trying, but not succeeding as much as I'd like. I had to help wrestle with a sick calf 2 days ago that had pneumonia... he died this afternoon... and that HURT. This guy weighed over 300 lbs. Tomorrow I'm gonna have to get that cow up that had the injured foot and remove her bandage. That calf already lost her bandage, but is still limping badly.

How does the Hemochromatosis affect your life, Broni? I've never heard of it before. I can't imagine eating a diet low in iron. I'm a carnivore, and meats are very rich in iron.

This morning I had the lady who does my floors. Just after she left we had a storm with small hail. It blocked the gutters and I had lots of water coming in my sunroom. I still have towels everywhere. I came into the kitchen to find water all over the kitchen bench. The bench had lots of things on it, including the packet of flour I am using to make paste for the paper mache. lots of cleaning up to do.
While I have been cleaning the sun room I have had a king parrot, lorikeets and kookaburras all coming in to be fed.
I have had my 10 minute sit down so better get back to work.

June you made me laugh, why didn't you just make the paste on the bench?? My warped sense of humour.
MizT, the whiskers comment I heard often when I was a pup. Think it is more like the whiskers of a man, they prickle.
Hi Julie, sweet dreams.
Heidi, could say don't overdo it but know it would fall on deaf ears.
From what I have read about the excess iron, think it was more about not eating excessive silverbeet and such, the taking of the blood seems to be the main control. Heidi I'm a carnivore also!

Of course dogs or children are going to take advantage of Mum when visitors are about, Heidi. I am sure the workmen were amazed at the dogs who DID behave, way outweighs the 2 who were a bit stubborn. How many dogs do you have now? I can never keep up with the count.
I hope the roofing goes quickly and easily. Do plan ahead and purchase a flat tire repair kit. I have never been even close to a roofing job and not got a flat. Need my big strong magnet to pick up all the stray nails? It is strong, but not very large. A friend had a huge bar magnet we would borrow to scan the area when we did a roofing job, when Al was doing contracting. Saved a lot of flats. The crew showing up on time is good.
Broni, a very good suggestion for June hehehe, your ingredients were both on the bench (counter) just mix up the past and proceed hehehe. How is the huge peach of paper machete coming? I do want to see photos when Laura is wearing this peach. It has been a lot of work, and planning, then re-planning going into it.
I think I shall go down to the meeting room on our floor and borrow one of the big tables for a bit. I have the measure of the cushion covers, I want to cut a pattern, then see if we have enough fabric to make them. Tanya just guessed at an amount, it is going to be close I think.
Was not cool enough early enough last night to open windows, but still a very comfortable day outside. Heidi, some of the residents here were saying tuesday and Wednesday was too cold. Some people cannot be satisfied. I thought the last 3 days wonderful. I watered all the containers again today and did not break a sweat, that makes wonderful weather in my book. A nice breeze, and yes a bit of cool in the breeze but I am loving it. Back to warmer weather rest of the week, bummer. Just hope the humidity stays low, will still be nice.
I skipped the September birthday party today. Usually they serve food that is tempting but not on my eating plan, and I decided a nap was better than being tempted.
Well, that was not fun! fire alarm went off, had to walk down and out of building. I think only 8 or 10 people really went down, from the 40+ in my building. false alarm I guess, since first responders did not arrive. IF we have a real emergency after so many false ones, I fear no one will pay attention. Back is now hurting, I do not do stairs.
Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

The workmen only saw 2 out of the 15 dogs, so weren't impressed. The other 13 were already locked inside when they pulled in the driveway. These men are fast! They're already halfway done with the job! So far, they haven't left much of a mess, and they've promised to clean it all up. They probably have a big bar magnet. if they don't, I do..

Julie, hope you can find a day to sleep in soon, no early alarms. You are retired, means some me time is in order.
Tanya and I started a sewing project for for her, new pillow shams. I wanted to go down to the meeting room on our floor, there are nice big tables there for laying out fabric. Unfortunately, it was in use today. Tanya measured and made the patterns using the floor in my apartment. Then I remembered up on 6th floor, in the elevator lobby is a nice big dining table. We went up there and laid pattern on fabric and got the pieces cut out today. Does not take long to get my back complaining, so tomorrow we will start the sewing. I have to mentally sit on my hands when Tanya is trying to do some of this hehehe, I know I could do it so much faster. But she needs to learn, and does get it done accurately once I explain it to her.
We have rain in the forecast for the weekend. Sunday could be an all day rain, I hope so. We do need a good soaking rain.
Not much else going on here. Sending hugs to each of you, with extras if you need. Till later.

Good for you, MizT. I know it's faster and easier to do it yourself, but Tanya will get an education, experience and satisfaction of doing it herself.
We need rain here, too. It's supposedly due on Sunday, but I think we need more than ond afternoon's worth. A week of slow, soaking rain would be nice.

Hi, Everyone! Hoping for a somewhat earlier night tonight. Early to rise in the morning, as we volunteer to help with a 5K race & fundraiser. Had no time to practice today, so will do extra tomorrow. Broni, I did some research on hemochromotosis because hubby had to be tested for it. Frequent blood donation was the only treatment I could find. I hope you don't have it!
MizT, you sure are spending a lot of time with your daughter. I hope that is a good thing. The projects sound like fun, but... My mother never did get the sit on your hands thing down.
I didn't go to the physio this week and I think that was a mistake. Mind you, there is a weird time delay thing going on. Move, pause, OW!

OK.... we moved the cow herd today, sorted out 3 big calves to sell and treated one cow and two calves with pinkeye. The 3 calves and a cull cow (who's in a pen in the horse barn) are going to the sale barn tomorrow afternoon. Yes, I'm taking them. My back rarely hurts when I'm driving, for some reason.

My house is beginning to smell good. I am baking zucchini muffins. I use soy flour, so these are very low carb and fit into my eating plannicely. I have been missing them, as I was unable to find soy flour at local groceries. A two pound bag is $2, I looked online to see if I could order it, they were selling a bag for $10 plus $8 shipping! No thanks. We found 2 bags at wal mart, I bought both of them. That will last a while. Keeping in freezer to make sure it stays fresh. I know what tomorrow's breakfast will be, muffins and fruit.
today ia an ache all over day. Weather is just loudy again, not sure of the cause of the achey day. Maybe cutting out the pillow covers yesterday? I did let Tanya do the most of it.
Suzy, yes, spending a lot of time with Tanya. I am not sure it's all good, but I do set limits. she wanted to come back again today, would be here every day if I did not say no, and today I said no, too achey to deal with her today. I am finding my grocery bill is going up too, and I am sure it is having to make lunch here for her 2 or 3 days a week. Well, she will make lunch most days, but with my groceries
I think we need to take turns, and have her bring lunch fixings at least once a week. My budget is more limited than hers is, so I think that is fair enough, especially as she is a picky eater, only wants the expensive stuff.
Suzy, the sit on yourhands is a bit difficult, but I know my Mom did it teaching me to sew. Only way a child is going to learn is let them do it. I remember when I was 12 years old, I wanted to make a dress for myself. Mom said NO, she wold make it forme, but my Dad siad 'let her do it, I will pay for the material. If she messes it up, I am sure you can make something from the fabric', so I got to make my first dress. Fitted shirtwaist, top on the bias, with lace sewn on the top in a V that the two sides had to match. Long back zipper, and pleated full skirt. I got the lace sewn on correctly the first time! Dress fit nicely and I wore it till it got to tight as I began to develop girlly parts hehehe. Mom was surprised that I could do it, but my Dad figured I could.
Time for a nap, as soon as the muffins are done, And they are smelling close to it now. I think that will help the achies.
Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Gekko my friends.
Sounds like everyone has their achies at least partly under control. Been a beautiful weekend for the best part. Showers overnight that is greening up everything. Dag now has two grandchildren withing two days, one of each and is over the moon. Less than two weeks before I go into holiday mode.
Zusie, yes even though the gene tests are not back I am a classic case. Blood letting is not the worst thing in the world, just a shame I cannot donate it. BP is now under control and just about to finish my second course of antibiotics so should be all good for a relaxing holiday.
MizT, know you will get a kick out of this one that has whiskers on it! Vent coming! Supposed to have 300ml of blood drained weekly, first pathology could not get me until I am away because the doctor is on holidays, second pathology can get me in the day before I go away. What is it with these people, for the last two weeks they have happily taken my blood and the next day I have felt better. OK off my soap box now. It is good to know what I am dealing with and why I have been so lethargic.
Brenda, you mentioned diet, have not found anything about that, even my friend who has this monthly now is on no special diet.
OK, trying to get my files transfered over to the new computer, both of them should be in the naught corner.

We are off to Melbourne tomorrow. It is to celebrate our son's 50 birthday. That is not until we are back home but by being there this week we can have Belinda and Laura as well as it is school holidays. we will be back home on Thursday.
Of Friday we also booked a trip to Europe next April. We are getting to old to fly for 24 hours in cattle class so have booked business class with Malaysian Airways. We feel that their disasters are over now.
