Life is to be measured not so much by the position you reach, as by the obstacles that you overcome while trying to succeed. (Brooker Washington)

June, good TOP. Here in Alabama, he is always refereed to as Brooker T. Washington.
All the posts are back one page, shucks. I remember seeing Mamacita, and June, not sure who else, the mind is not working. Perhaps I need a bit of a nap while Tanya is downstairs helping the office staff, passing out info that needs to be hung on doors. When she finished we plan to go to pick up some items I ordered from a 'order online, pick up at store front counter' and a script, because I have a rash, skin breakdown under my arm. Doc called in something for me.
Hugs till my brain is working again

FIL is in hospital and very ill. His doctor says he might not make it through the night. Hubby is going there now, and daughter is going there shortly. He will not be alone. I think I've said before that he was always more of a father to me than my own father was. Sad time. Please keep him in your thoughts.
D is very attached to her grandpa and she is really upset. I have offered to look after the girls while she spends some final moments with her grandpa.

Mamacita.... I now think of Kentucky as the State of Ignorance for putting (ugg) Mitch McConnell back in the Senate. The man is as crooked and corrupt as a rusty spring.

Theresa, Sending prayers for all to have the strength it takes to get past these difficult days where we see the fading away of our loved ones and are unable to help in any way....May the transition be painless and swift. May you retain the loving memories to sustain you and yours for many years. Be comforted in the knowledge that the earthly pain and worries will be gone and peace will reign within his soul.

Heidi...Kentucky has been saddled with Mitch McDonnell for so long, there were afraid of change, as were far too many other areas...but I certainly agree with your assessment of Mitch...he is definitely corrupt...but he has sooo much company on both sides of the aisle that he fits right in place...unfortunately.

All of the better educated areas of Kentucky voted for Mitch's opponent, who is an excellent choice for the Senate. But she couldn't compete with Mitch's almost bottomless pockets and massive lying smear campaign. You know how that goes... you repeat a lie often enough and loud enough, and people will believe it.

FIL is still hanging on. MIL was taken from her nursing home today to see him. I'm kind of glad I wasn't there at that time because I would have bawled my eyes out. Just feeling kind of helpless I guess.

Thinking of you Theresa. Not an easy time saying that final goodbye.
I have been out all day at various meetings and a bit of shopping.
hair cut tomorrow.
tonight I cut up a bit of prime steak for the dog. She would not look at it. I then marinated it in a small amount of sherry and soya sauce, cooked it lightly in the pan and she loved it!
She is asleep in the kitchen and as she is deaf she did not hear us come home.

I had a peaceful night with IH out of town. I made one mistake, though. I watched an old silent movie called '7th Heaven'. I started crying halfway through, and kept it up more and more through the movie. A fabulous movie, but it really pulls at the heart-strings. I had to watch a comedy afterwards to be able to sleep.

Ladies, can't help myself - snide remark follows...
Maybe the good folks in Kentucky were afraid to vote for change after being promised the moon six years ago......
It's a shame that in states with one major population center, that voter block can control the outcome of an election, hence the future of the state.

That's OK Heidi, we have all done that at times. Anyway a good middle quote.
I have two Galahs that are being fed. They seem rather tame but are incredibly dirty. I thing they have been in the mud somewhere. They have come into the yard twice today looking for seed. The kookaburras have been in a couple of times as well. Every time I take the dog out some bird appears. They take no notice of the dog as she does not chase them.

Heidi, a good quote wherever it lands on the page.
Very busy day today, not sure where the day went. I did clean my K cabinets with Old English Polish, they look better and at least clean. I got asmany plants inside as I have room for, to overwinter. I could not bring as many as I hoped to, cause we have an inspection tomorrow, and 'windows cannot be blocked'. I think this is in case firemen need to gain access via ladder truck. I am sure plants would not keep a fireman from gaining access to the apartment, but will wait till tomorrow to bring more inside, IF they survive tonight. there is one geranium I would like to bring in. At the moment it is snuggled in the middle of the other plants, near the concrete column that hopefully will retain some heat overnight. Low is forecast for 'the low 30's' depends how low it goes and how long it stays there. tomorrow and Friday night, I do not think anything will survive, as temp will be into the 20's and below freezing 8 and 12 hours . Time to let them go.
The huge ferns are inside, maintenance men brought them in today. I still have not found saucers for them, I bought some that did not have dimensions listed, they are 12 inch , need at least 15, 16 or 18 would be better.
While downstairs, I saw Dave again, we had another nice chat. He did not get everything he needed when at the store yesterday when he went via the EP bus. I picked up some cold packs for him, so glad he let me do something to help.
Still need groceries, not sure I will get there tomorrow. Must be here till Linda does inspection between 11 and 12, then some kind of meeting called for everyone who used the cleaning services, at 2 pm. Not much of a window to get groceries.
Played scrabble, only the second game, I did not make it back from trip to pharmacy for Dave to make the first. they had already started without me, so I just watched the rest of first game.
OK, that is my report in for today.
Theresa, will keep your family in my thoughts overnight. I know this is hard. Huge hugs for you dear. Yes, seeing your MIL saying goodbye would have been difficult for you, but I am glad she was able to get there.
Time to check on the sweet potatoes I am baking, they are smelling so good now. this cold weather a baked sweet potato is so good, and one of the cheapest servings of carb that I am allowed. I could eat 2 a day hehehe.
Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

IH isn't home yet. I hope this means that he stopped for the night instead of driving the 4 hours to get here. He doesn't like night driving. I, on the other hand, love it. And stopping drives me nuts. I can't sleep because I keep thinking how much closer I'd be to home if I kept driving, or that I'd already be home if I'd kept driving. Of course, with IH's histopry of falling asleep behind the wheel, it's not a smart idea for him to push it. If he did stop, I can watch another movie tonight!

Looks like we have dogged the icy bullet for one more night. It is 6:30 am and the temp is 36*F, just above freezing. That means I can bring in that geranium later today, it should have survived. The begonias I can see from my window made it through just fine.
I have decided to just go ahead and order the more expensive plant caddy on wheels with the saucer built in, for the ferns, since I cannot find an inexpensive saucer big enough now. It seems no one except me needs flower pot saucers in the fall of the year, and there are only bits and pieces, leftovers from spring, left in any store. Is it possible that somewhere in the Birmingham area some store has the two saucers in the size I need? Yes, possible. Will I spend the time and energy hunting through all of the stores to find it? Not a chance hehehe. I had rather pay the premium for a nice set that will let me rotate the plants, move them about and pay the shipping fees for the convenience of having it sent to my door.
Now, do I go back to bed at almost 7 am, or stay up for the day. It feels a bit cool and drafty inside, those huge 6 foot wide windows do let cold in, my bed is warm and cozy, yep, back to bed even if I do not sleep.
Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Funny story. Hubby and I have been walking. The other day we noticed some road graffiti had been covered with tar overnight. It was obviously considered particularly offensive because it hadn't been there at all the previous night and it was already covered with tar. Only they basically traced the graffiti which meant it could be read just as clearly as it would have been originally. I thought of it because today I was in the coffee van with my 25 year old coworker and had her laughing telling her about it. Then she saw it and just about peed herself laughing. Apparently Bunyip hearts male body parts, which isn't really the funny part. The funny part was the ineptitude of the people assigned to cover it!, though maybe they did it on purpose so people like me got to laugh at it.

Not much to say about FIL, still the same. Except when Maggie went to see him yesterday evening he was sitting in a chair!!!!!! I persuaded hubby to stay home after work instead of going to see his dad because he is exhausted. I fixed him a nice supper, he relaxed in front of the TV for a while and then went to bed. He is much more rested today.

MIL and FIL held hands the whole time they were together. My nephew snuck a picture of them on his cell phone. So poignant and so touching.
My eye sight is really bad the last few days. I have to zoom up to 150 percent to see anything on the computer. Kind of ironic that FIL had cataract surgery just a few weeks ago and his eyesight is very good. Seems kind of funny to call him FIL because I have always called him Dad.

Just refer to him as Dad, Theresa. We will know who you're talking about.
It sounds like he still has a little will to live. He has seen how much he is loved in the last few days. Consider every minute a gift.
I'm SO sorry about your eyes! You don't need that problem right now. ((((( HUGS )))))

Treasure the moments Theresa. So many people rally before the end. These times are so special.
(not sure what the procedure is in Canada but I have always prepared all the vital information before hand , such as dates and places of birth, Wedding, Parents names, etc. It is not easy to think when you have just lost a loved one)
