We now have over an inch of snow on the ground, but the bad news is that there's a layer of ice under it. The roads are supposed to be death traps for the next 12+ hours. I don't plan on going anywhere.

Oh, yeah... they're now saying we could get 3 to 4 inches of snow overnight.
At least MizT is being spared. This front will hit her in a few hours, but she'll just be getting rain. No snow. No ice.

Some grumbling above. Hope it waters the garden as they are predicting 38*c tomorrow.
Julie, I often puff up with heat and humidity. Slowly goes down when I get in the cool. It was not enough to cause any problems.
I was going to cook a nice piece of corned beef that I had in the freezer but when I went to get it out it was a rolled roast of pork. We had T bone steaks as I did not want to use the oven.
I can hear the rain. Hope it lasts for a while.

June, you can have my cold rain. this front coming through gave me a bit of achies yesterday, but today is MUCH better.

Heidi, I am glad you can stay inside till the roads are better. Ice is treacherous, only good place for ice is in a glass of iced tea hehehe

June, hope you had a nice gentle long lasting rain, the kind that sinks in and makes the garden happy.

I forgot to eat breakfast, had coffee only, not I am hungry! Wonder what I can find for today?

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Good Morning All...The front has hit us too...snow over ice...dry tomorrow and more snow on Monday...only a few inches thus far and is cleaning up well, so folks can get out before whatever comes Monday. Waiting for them to get my driveway cleared so that I can help Reina and Angelique get ready for Angel's big party...Pizza, cake and Ice cream then a movie with about 20 people...sure glad I'm not doing this anymore...too much planning, too many choices to confuse little ones and far too much money... plus winter birthdays are hard to plan due to the winter holidays and possibility of bad weather is far too much stress.Oh well...the kids all seem to enjoy it, so some good comes from it.It helps them to socialize since they no longer are able to go in and out of each others homes any time as we were..play dates now need to be scheduled...Sooo glad I was born when I was and had kids when I did...these new ways boggles my mind to say the least. I think the kids are given too much leeway in many areas that need tighter parameters, in my opinion, and they are too tightly held in other areas where I feel more freedom should be given...yet many fear today's dangers which differ from yesterday...so I don't know who's right...guess it's best to err on the side of caution. Off of my soap box for now..Take care all..Peace.

Most of our snow (~3') has melted, since today's high was 44˚F / 7˚C. It's gonna be warmer tomorrow.
When I was out feeding hay to the cows, I spotted a cow way off by herself, walking up to eat the fresh hay. She looked like she had recently calved, so I figured that she had hidden a calf down near the creek. So I drove the tractor down there and searched. It was well hidden. Once Mama saw me fiddling around in the area her calf was hidden, she trotted down towards the creek to make sure it was OK. She showed me where the calf was hiding. I'd walked right past it 3 times! But I was able to get hold of the new little heifer calf and tag her. Then I helped Mama get the calf out of the area where it was and up among the rest of the herd for safety. A lot of predators drink from the creek and could have given the calf a rough time.

Hello, Friends!

Long day today, including a drive to my sister who cuts our hair. We're looking a bit more human now. Other sister's hubby taken to ER and admitted. Now happening at least monthly. He has been in a nursing home since summer, is on dialysis, has deteriorating spine, sleeping much of the day. Prayers for Russ would be appreciated. Thank you! While you're at it, please include a prayer or two for my dousing Jim who is going down-hill. We had planned to meet with several siblings and his mom (my aunt) for lunch, but she was with him.

Heading to bed now, and sending positive thoughts, healing energy, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and for each of you! Please take care of yourselves and those you love.

I'm sending my best wishes for BiL Russ and cousin Jim, Julie.

I'm heading into town for a brunch buffet. I've heard it's phenomenal, and have been wanting to try it. Then back here to relax for an hour and a half, then off to run errands and attend the board meeting. I missed the last one. That was the day my head exploded. (severe headache and earache started, leading up to the bleeding from the ear.)

Well, the ''brunch'' may have been phenomenal by Kentucky standards, but not by mine. It was a luncheon buffet, with nothing spectacular except for the desserts.

Julie,Prayers for Russ and Jim. It is hard when we see those around us declining in health.
It was hot yesterday so we went to the pictures and saw 'The Imitation Game'. It was very good.
They have mufti bowls this afternoon for Australia day. Ken will play but as I cannot play I will be at home.(Ken is the organiser)

In a few minuets, I will be off to the January birthday party. It is my 'cheat' iof the week. OH, I have already lost the weight I gained over holiday, back down to my lowest weight, yeah!

Yesterday I had drive daughter to the grocery. Medication changes have left her unable to drive. One of those medications you must be weaned off, as the new one is introduced, and it has hit her hard. Hopefully the change on meds will be worth the trouble. I guess you can say, we take turns, she helping me, then me helping her. Will work as long as one if us is functional at a time

sunshine is back, and it is warm in the sun, but oh so cold when the wind hits. I was overly warm in the car, waling from car to building fixed that fast.

I did read and thought of you, but time has slipped away, time to get downstairs. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

I am mad. Ken rang at lunch time and asked if I could please play bowls one handed. I did play 1/2 the game but it was fine on and off rain. my hand was getting damp and cold and being a bit off balance my back was objecting. Several others gave up the same time. I did win a bottle of white wine as the winning lead in the first game.
I did enjoy the company and we finished with BBQ snags(sausages). Good Aussie day tucker.
I will not be bowling with the ladies tomorrow. A game lasts about three hours.

Hi, Everyone! Thanks for the prayers for my BIL and cousin. No changes so far today.

So sorry the brunch was such a disappointment, Heidi. At least you didn't have to cook. I hope the meeting went well.

June, too bad about having to play bowls, but at least you won a bottle of wine! I hope your healing is progressing!

MizT, thankfully you were able to help your D today. I hope tomorrow will be a better day for her.

Heading to bed. We were able to go to a chamber music (quartet) with one D playing. But that's 2 days with no time to practice, as yesterday we went for haircuts. I need to get to work tomorrow!

Sending , {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, prayers, and healing energy to all!

Good lucj at the surgeon's, MizT. Why are you talking to him/her?

After 3 days of no drainage, and feeling pretty good, the ear has started draining again. This time, the stuff coming out is the color of milk chocolate. At least it's keeping me entertained.

Oh Heidi, I'm so sorry that your ear has started draining again...hope this clears soon and doesn't bring the same intensity as before. Tricia...waiting to find out more about the surgeon's visit. We do have our problems don't we. Feel better soon...and hoping D will soon adjust to the new meds... withdrawal and introduction of new meds can really work on a person.
Julies, sorry that your family is now undergoing severe illnesses to your B-I-L and cousin. I hope they both have the best possible outcomes shortly and w/o lots of drama. Since there is no change in their conditions, I'll keep talking to the 'Man upstairs', HE works His wonders in all. June, hope the one handed bowl playing hasn't affected your shoulder and wrist too much, but glad you were game to find out how much you could take and won the wine to help you forget the discomfort. The first part of the snow storm has passed w/o leaving much of an impression, but the second and worst part is still due to come , so for now its a wait and see. All is well here and since I didn't say in when I started, Hell and see you later folks...Peace.

Greetings, Everyone!

I guess we'll all be waiting until tomorrow for MizT to see our questions about her visit to a surgeon. We're keeping you in our thoughts, Tricia!

Heidi, that ear is certainly providing a variety of symptoms! Hopefully you and your doctor can get it all straightened out soon! Remember to take care of yourself!

Mama, I'm glad the initial storm wasn't too bad! i hope the second storm doesn't dump a lot of snow and cold on your area! Also hoping that you don't lose power! Take care and be safe!

June, I hope all is well and you're not suffering any ill effects from your bowls the a day or so ago!

Seems like I should think about getting some sleep soon. Sending a basket full of {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, prayers, healing vibes, and !

Thinking of you all who are suffering cold and storms.
It rained here most of the day. I did get some ironing done and cooked 2 kg of peaches. I blanched them to get the skins off. I was too hard doing it one handed.
Heidi, you need to see an ear specialist.
Get well to all those suffering. Winter is not a time to be sick.
I might go watch the tennis for awhile.

I think the present discharge is just the last of the old muck leaving the sinuses. That's why it's brown. The flow is slowing down steadily. It doesn't hurt, and I'm feeling better every day.

OK.. talked to Tricia. She's been sleeping (sorry I woke you up, my friend). The visit to the surgeon was about the mammogram. She's going to have a biopsy in a couple of weeks. It doesn't sound much more than routine, I'm glad to hear.

OOOPS. I did not realize I had not said 'surgeon' and 'breast biopsy' both. that is what that was about. Because the doc cannot feel anything in the area that the mammogram saw 'an area with a low suspicion', to know for sure what is going on, I will have to have a surgical biopsy with wire guidance. That means I get yet another mamo, they insert a wire to mark the suspicious area and leave it to guide the surgeon to the correct area, and then take me to surgery to take it out to be X rayed and then to pathology.
An abundance of caution I think, but best to know for certain.
I appologize for the concern I have caused. A couple of things going on with family have kept me from the computer last couple of days.

The biopsy will be done 4 weeks from today, Tuesday Feb 24. As doc said, it is not something that needs doing tomorrow, and that works out so sister can go with me for this procedure. Lucky sis, she and hubby are going to Key West for 2 weeks, actually a drive down one coast and back the other, stopping at any interesting birding areas. Doc did not have an opening for next week, before sis and BIL leave, so 24th is the best day to do this.

Take care....and that goes for each of you...we worry and miss you when we don't know what's going on so do try to touch base and say hello once in a while so we don't get more gray hair than we already have...lol.

Hi, Everyone!

June, I think if I were you, I would have been tempted to let the ironing go another week and see how you were feeling. On the other hand, peaches sound wonderful, but again, something you could do more easily with another hand. You seem to get so much done in every day!

Heidi, if the discharge continues for very long, please consider a visit to your doctor or a specialist. We don't want you to be suffering through something that should be taken care of. Thanks for checking in on MizT. So sorry your meeting and meal were postponed!

MizT, I'm glad to hear that your visit to a surgeon was to discuss timing for a biopsy. Apparently it won't just be done via a needle, if a surgeon is to be involved. I used to have 'suspicious' mammograms every other year and have had a needle biopsy. Luckily, with digital mammograms, they have me wait and take additional views if they question anything.

Mama, I'm so glad you didn't get as much snow as the Boston area! As of this afternoon, it was still snowing there.

Time for me to head to bed, so I'm sending the usual healing energy, positive thoughts, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and !

I got a couple more bits of ironing done today while it is still cool. It is not the ironing as much as the folding. I also made a non cook slice as I have the neighbours coming for 'afternoon tea' tomorrow. All the neighbours have spotless houses. Luckily my vacuuming lady is back tomorrow and will come in the morning while I am getting my hair cut.

Hi, Everyone!

June, I'm glad your vacuuming lady will be able to come before your neighbours come for 'afternoon tea.' (My computer disagreed with the Aussie spelling, so I had to sneak the u in after I finished the sentence.) Luckily the ironing isn't too difficult; sorry the folding is.

I did too much walking yesterday, thought I got away with it, but it came back to bite me tonight, It is 3 am here, bummer.

Played 2 games of scrabble today, only 3 of us were there. Friend Lynn felt terrible, went to doc, he was stumped, could find no reason. Just crushing fatigue, she was second person complaining of that, sister had same yesterday. First game I just did not have anything to work with, came in dead last, but better letters second game and won by a good margin.

I got glasses adjusted, at least they now sit level on my face. went to check on daughter, fund her much improved, yeah. time to try the bed again, hugs to each of you, with extras.

Broni, hope you enjoy your holiday. You work hard, you deserve some ME time.

June, I am glad you have the lady who cleans floors, one less thing to figure how to do with one hand. Folding would be much more difficult, I did a bit of folding today, and cannot imagine how I would go about doing it one handed. How much longer with this cast?

Julie, what are you doing now that is keeping you so busy? Have you found time to practice cello?

Heidi, whatever did you do to entertain yourself until you were able to fall asleep at 8 am? Computer? Movies? What do your collies think of you being in bed daylight hours?

June, thanks for the good thoughts for me. I am mostly keeping busy and not thinking about or worrying about the biopsy. I am doing what I can do, which is get all the information I can, making arrangements with pain doc as to who prescribes for post op pain, getting someone to go with me, and waiting for the packet of information that should be in the mail today. When I have done all I can do, including seeing that my freezer will have easy to prepare foods for the post op period, then just find something to occupy my mind till it is time to get this done. Worrying is not going to change anything, except to take away the joy of living and cloud my mind, so I have given that up. I do need to talk to my insurance co about what I will be responsible for, and make arrangements to take care of that amount, but that would best be done once I get the information packet. If it went into mail Tuesday, I should get it today.

someone asked me what would happen if on this third mammogram scheduled for right before surgery, to insert the wire ( Oh that sounds soooo fun, NOT) they did not see the 'something'. I would take myself home, then arrange for more frequent Mammograms to see if it shows up again. No way are they going poking around with sharp sticks if they cannot identify the suspicious area.

OK, dishes will not wash themselves, and I would like to make zucchini muffins today also. Will be back later. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

I did get back to sleep without much problem, slept till 7 am. Woke with a smart spell going on. I washed out hand laundry, refolded and straightened all the sweaters (jumpers), jogging suits that go on shelves in my chest, sorted out jackets to hang in my closet, collected all the empty hangers, and restored clothing to hang with like colours. that sort of thing. Set my dishes to soak, and made myself some breakfast. Now it is time to get those dishes washed and put away.

Tanya is coming for lunch. Her first driving since medication change, the new one decided to start working, yeah! It has been very boring for her, stuck at home for two weeks with only 2 visits from me to break the monotony.

Greetings, Fellow Sudokuaholics!

Hi, Broni! Have a wonderful and restful holiday! You deserve it!

MizT, congrats on a well-played Scrabble game! I'm glad you were able to get your new glasses adjusted and visit your daughter. Good news that she is doing better on the new meds! Hopefully your sister and your friend Lynn will feel better soon! You are certainly getting a lot done prior to your biopsy! You have the right attitude. If nothing is found in the mammogram prior to biopsy, there is no biopsy. (That happened once with my sister. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you!)

Heidi, I'm glad you're getting some sleep, even if it's during the day! Congratulations on the new calves. I hope you're right and the coughing and chest tightness can be attributed to being out of shape. Do you read actual books or use a Kindle or other reader? You must have quite a library!

Hi, June! I'm glad the tea went well. Seems you had some interesting conversation about dementia, drug problems and prosecutions. The neighbor's son could contribute a lot to that conversation, I'd guess. Enjoy your cross-town trains to have lunch with friends from work!

Not surprisingly, we have been busy here. I have LOTS of music to practice (2 new pieces for my lesson, 2 new pieces for string orchestra, and our quartet will become a viola quintet for the spring semester. Tomorrow we'll meet with some of my high school classmates for breakfast. With everyone so busy, it has been months since we met - maybe since summer, I think.

Thinking of everyone and sending positive thoughts, , prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and healing energy for everyone!
