Friendship, on the other hand, serves a great host of different purposes all at the same time.
In whatever direction you turn, it still remains yours. No barrier can shut it out.
It can never be untimely; it can never be in the way.
We need friendship all the time, just as much as we need the proverbial prime necessities of life, fire and water.
Cicero (106-43 b.c.)
Thank you all for being my friends.

Greetings to All!
One of these days, I'm going to get here earlier and have time to get caught up on my reading. I certainly hope everyone is well and not quite as busy as we seem to be. On the other hand, I guess being busy is good. Take care, Everyone

Once again I have trouble getting to SA. I got to an old page, so am checking in without reading. Hope all is going well with everyone.
It is still summer hot here, and dry, we could use some rain. Humidity is lower, so not as bad to be outside. My back is behaving, mostly. If it starts acting up again, I can call to schedule the radio frequency ablation (burning of some nerve endings) which hopefully will give longer relief. sounds a bit scary to me. My sis had it done on only one side of back/spine, the outcome was not good for her, did not relieve her pain, bummer. They never did the other side. We will wait and see.
Other sister, Edna, is having bad hip problems. she has had two injections into different parts of hip, has not controlled the pain. Next for her is an MRI of hip. She and hubby missed a trip they had planned cause of the problem it has been. Hope they find help for her soon.
Tanya has an ear infection, they saw blood on or behind her ear drum. she is sleeping 20 hours a day while on antibiotics, ear drops and steroids. I wish she would go back and see doc again, but she said she still has one more day of antibiotics to take. I have not seen her in 5 or 6 days now, miss her dropping buy several times a week.
OK, will post now, and HOPE this goes through and takes me to the current page, so I can read what is happening to each of you. Huge hugs, with extras, till later.

June, I saw that on FB, so I did not accept friend request. Thanks for the warnings.
HI Julie. good to see you still drop in daily even if you cannot read.
Suzy, who is keeping you informed about American football? I once was an avid fan of one of our state University teams. I have not watched a game since Al died. We had watched a LOT of football, the last months of his life. It would not be the Same watching alone.
OK< off to try navigating back a page, wish me luck. More hugs!

HELLO ALL!!!!
I finally got my new keyboard and mouse after the week from H3LL. Back has gone out, I blew out my knee burying one of my Gypsy Vanners (Serenade), the A/C is out again (under full warranty) and numerous other problems. My epidural is in 5 1/2 days and I desperately need it. I'll read all of your posts later, but I'm still feeling sorry for myself.

Oh Heidi - you really have had a week of disasters - to add to the rest. Sorry to hear of Serenade's passing. You really have had a horrible time of it and should have some time feeling sorry for yourself. {{Hugs}}

MizT, I agree about Tanya going back to the doc. With only a day left on the antibiotics she should be feeling a lot better. I hope Edna finds out what is wrong and gets relief from the pain soon.
June, hope you are able to control your pain. I did get a friend request and deleted it.
Heidi, how is your ear? Hope nothing else goes wrong before or after you get your shot!
MizT, hubby talks to me about American football. Some of the games are televised here. With the time difference there is a game just finishing Monday lunchtime. Alie will be here tonight so I'll get to hear all about hair, or nails, and/or whatever alternative medicine thing she is researching this week.

DORA, just saw your risky story on page 231. too too funny.
June, only another day till chemo starts? I do hope the tumor responds favorably, shrinks quickly and your pain is less. Huge hugs to you as you go through the 3 months of chemo. I also hope the radiation is started soon. I might be tempted to contact them again, if you have not heard from them. things do fall through the cracks sometime, they MEANT to notify you, but something in the system failed.
I find that so often these days we have to advocate for ourselves, do part of their jobs, be it doctors, banks, phone service, everything really, if we want things to go smoothly and in a timely manor. Huge gentle hugs to you.
Perhaps the trouble sleeping, the pain after a good day is because you did a bit too much that day? Hubby often fussed at me for just that, but gee, when are you gonna get things done if not on good days? It is hard to balance it just right.
It is late, time for bed for me. Hugs to everyone till next time. hope this one goes through.

Post did go through quickly, and I found a few more new posts. Hugs, Heidi. Your week did not go well, hope this one is much better. I cannot figure when your epidural is due, but hope the 5 1/2 days from whenever, go by quickly. Is it scheduled for Saturday?
Suzy, at least your family has very diversified subject matter for discussions, it is not the same thing from everyone. What teams were broadcast there, your Monday, our Sunday games? Sunday is for professional teams, never have watched those much, only if a favorite from our college (uni) team had graduated to professional and was playing
OH, the name of the next procedure for back is radio frequency ablation. Mine will be in lumbar region. Fancy name for burning nerve endings. I did not see doc or nurse practitioner when I went back Monday. Was told it was a computer glitch, they did NOT need to see me. This after I waited almost 2 hours in a very noisy, busy, disorganized waiting room. the good part was I did not have to sit in their chairs, was in my more comfy power chair. had a good book, a water bottle of Iced tea, other than noise I was good.

Suzy, after sister Edna had a good day today, and went out birding with hubby, long ride in car, a limited bit of walking, her hip is in great pain again. she is calling doc tomorrow, to schedule MRI. We hope that will show something they can treat and 'give me my life back.'

MizT, Monday was greenbay vs someone. Professional football. I don't think we get the college games. I would have gone nuts in that waiting room! I can handle crowds in relatively open spaces, like malls, but not in small spaces like offices. I hope Edna's MRI shows what is going on.
I've increased the incline on my treadmill and I'm feeling it in my muscles. I think that's a good thing!

The ear is doing better since the doc put me on dexamethazone and Cipro. My back and knee are worse by the day, and the methadone is barely helping. The epidural is scheduled for Monday at 1:20 pm. I'm spending most of my time in bed right now.

Tahli is home alone with mum right now as the others are with their father. She is finding it weird that they aren't there, how do you explain to any 4 year old about shared custody? Let alone a child on the spectrum. It's really great that she is getting one on one, but hard too. Tomorrow night she will be with hubby and me, and we'll have to put Dana's instructions in place to help her. I already miss the other 2, so I can't imagine how she feels.
I picked Tahli up from school today because it was raining. On the way home she commented on my new blue shoes, though I hadn't pointed them out, and we'd been talking about other things with her teacher when I picked her up. That level of observation is apparently not unusual for kids on the spectrum.
I love it whatever the reason.

It sounds like Tahli isn't short on brains, Suzy. Just because someone has a disability doesn't mean they're stupid. Quite the contrary. People with autism frequently are above normal in intelligence. It's almost as if the brain can't hold all of their smarts and short circuits a bit.

I'm off to Debbie's place to meet with a contractor. We've got to replace the roof along with some of the support structure. It's a big job, but necessary. We're also waiting for the electrician to show up to re-wire the entire house. I'm surprised there hasn't been an electrical fire yet.
Once I get back from there, the a/c repairman will be arriving here to work on our a/c once again.
I've realized that my life is completely controlled by Murphy's Law.

Greetings friends, Getting to SA was not a big hassle for me today, YEAH!
We have a birthday party in 2 hours, cannot decide if I want to go or not. Feeling achey today, meds just not doing their job for some reason, so I guess I will forgo the party today. there will be another one next month.
I have a clean house today, and clean clothes. Only thing needs doing is wash the sheets from yesterday's bed change. Housekeeper had 2 loads of just my wearing clothes yesterday, since she did not come last week. House rules are only 2 washers in use by a resident (or her housekeeper)at a time. If I feel energetic this week I can take them to laundry, or can just wait till next week. I will not have so many dirty clothes next week. Not energetic today.
Heidi, congrats to Gil and the little piglets. I bet they are cute. Is 13 a usual litter size, or more than normal? Sounds like a LOT of work on Debbie's house. I hope the repairs go smoothly.
Did I say I won one game at scrabble yesterday? I had good letters and lucky enough to be able to play them well. I do not know how, but we finished 2 games in under hour and a half. Usually it is at or over 2 hours. Lots of fun yesterday though, as all 4 of us were there.
SUZY, how long will the two youngest be with their father? I imagine they miss T as much as she misses them.
DORA, enjoyed the WHY questions. Nope, never wondered why 'they' let you on here. Your light comments bring a smile to my face many days, so keep them up, please.
Heidi, glad your ear is better. I hope this really gets rid of all the bacteria, and no more re-occurrence. this has been a very tough one to treat successfully.
Hugs to each of you, with extras. till next time.

Suzy, it sounds like Tahli is doing very well, noticing changes and commenting on them. Hopefully the time apart will pass quickly for T, Daniel, and Izzy - quite an adjustment for them all!
Heidi, I am so sorry you have been dealing with so much. Condolences on the passing of Serenade. Hopefully your AC will be fixed and repairs to Debbie's house will go well. I'm hoping your epidural will be one of the worst ever. I'm glad your ear is better!
June, hopefully all of the treatments will go well and produce the desired results!

Treatment went well. Came home and had a sleep/ Then at about 5pm when the daytime pain meds were starting to wear off, the usual pains started but the chemo was attacking so they were 10 times worse. Took maximum pain meds but they did take quite a while work and I could not eat anything. I was only sick once. I then slept all night on the recliner and no pain today but very tired and slept a lot. I did go to friends 80th. birthday party this afternoon and then slept again when we got home. I will just have to manage pain meds better next week.
Thanks for all the hugs and well wishes.
I do hope that your treatments will be as successful Heidi.

Greetings, Everyone!
Heidi, I hope the epidural is one of the worst ever! And then I hope you can pamper yourself for a week so it doesn't get 'undone.'
Not to worry about our lack of sleep. We both got up at 6 a.m. and decided there was NO way we were going to drive 2 1/2 hours to spend an hour or 2 with the people. It was a gathering of people honoring our junior high/middle school band teacher. He was amazing! I haven't seen him for 54 years, and he lives in California. Many of the people were within 3 or 4 years of me in school, so hadn't seen them in around 50 years. I have only seen one of my cousins once (last year) since he graduated from high school in 1965. Many of those people may never come back to our small home town. In spite of all that, it just didn't make sense to go. I'm hoping some people took photos and will post them somewhere to be share with others who were not able to attend.
So after we decided it didn't make sense to go, we went back to bed for about 3 more hours. (Well, hubby got up & had breakfast, then went back to sleep until around noon.
Suzy, I have neither seen 'The Notebook' nor read the book, so I couldn't warn you. Sorry about that.
