IH cannot recognize anything of the sort because ''I do not go to church''. That is his sole qualification for being good person. Yet, in his warped, hypocritical little brain, if you break several of the 10 commandments yet show up regularly in church, you are still a good person. He has repeatedly said that he is a better person than I am because he goes to church and I don't. I'm sure glad that my brain cannot understand that twisted rationale.

Just a quick Hello. I read, but don't have time to respond to everyone. Apologies to all of you!

Great TOPP plus one, Midge. Also, discussing 5 dozen cookies, a rain dance, and lovely weather also works for a TOPP.

It's 10:50 p.m. here, and I need to empty bags at 2:00. My fitbit says I didn't sleep last night, and I need to drive hubby to an appt. tomorrow (at least 45 minutes each way). Hopefully he'll stay awake & help me stay awake. I'm not sure where he'll get the energy to go from the car into the building. Once inside, there might be a wheelchair we can use.

Sending warm wishes, , prayers, positive thoughts, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and healing energy to all, and hopes for some rain to MizT!

Julie, huge hugs! I wish I could have an early night and share the resulting energy with you. There is one major drawback to having cyber friends - it eliminates the ability to be physically helpful.

Heidi, I was a little worried someone might pepper your food. I guess that's the sign of a quality establishment.

Midge, I tried to believe in a higher power when I was a youngun. I couldn't. Hell was the first thing that gave me a problem. Then it was everything happens for a reason. Maybe it was because I was living in hell. I digress. I ended up deciding to believe in Good. The Dalai Lama and I might get along. Heidi, the good you do is worth everything. Julie, the good you are doing for your hubby is also worth everything.

I am doing OK but almost did not get the treatment on Thursday as my BP was too low. (97/53). I had to drink some water and it was then taken manually so the top made it to 100. Otherwise they would have had to call a Doctor. Did not take any pain meds that night but I have been sleeping a lot with not much energy.
last night we had a Mediterranean night at the Bowling Club and I ate too much hummus and bits and it gave me a lot of wind. I came home early!

Lots of hugs needed today... (((HUGS))) June and Julie and anyone else who wants some..

It's very windy here today. Not dangerous level windy, but no fun to be outside windy. I wouldn't care but there is a large bush fire near here. It's moved from emergency warning to advice, but at 9.30 this morning it had burnt out 490 hectares. We are not at risk.

Greetings and {{HUGS}} right back to my cyber friends! I think a cyber hug can in some ways be better than a physical one. It's sometimes easier to share some of what is going on in your life in a post than in a conversation.

Sorry, feel free to skim past the next bit about how hubby is doing. We have tried to be mostly transparent with our D's, but it's honesty with a little holding back. I'm certainly not going to tell them that hubby sometimes just wants to give up. I told him he has to be the one to tell them that. I know it's mostly impatience, and feeling like everything that could happen wasn't completely laid out prior to the surgery. But in honesty, in spite of knowing his medical history, the surgeons were surprised and perhaps not totally prepared for what they would find. For instance, it took them 1 1/2 hours just to get to his colon due to adhesions and scar tissue. Of course, the longer the surgery took, the longer he had anesthesia and pain medications, all of which impact his recovery rate. His blood pressure has been very low. June, I know you're aware how that impacts strength and stamina. Plus, his hemoglobin has dropped rather significantly in the 3 weeks since his surgery. Today the home care nurse convinced surgeon's office to order blood tests while we were at the outpatient center for the hospital. It made for a VERY long day, but hopefully it will lead to something that will help. I know he's just very exhausted and doesn't have the energy to counteract his discouragement. Unfortunately, in my exhaustion, I am sometimes less than patient with the patient.

Midge, thinking of you! Am I reading correctly that there was not a transplant-threatening episode? Our prayers are with you for much health in the future!

Heidi, IH has the same mentality as so many who think that going to church once a week makes them a good Christian. The way you live and treat humans, animals, and the earth is a far better indication of your goodness! Maybe he deserves another 'Christian' like himself. I'm so glad the seminar and banquet were very enjoyable! Did you win a door prize?

Suzy, thank you for your good thoughts for all of us. But I must ask, how are you doing? Keeping you and your health in my thoughts and prayers! I hope your hubby, the girls and Dana's little ones are all doing well!

June, I'm glad you were able to have your treatment on Thursday! Good advice to drink enough water. We're also learning that sometimes one arm reads a little higher than the other, as well as taking blood pressure manually versus a machine. It's good to know the 'trick.' I hope you are feeling better and have a good weekend.

MizT, I hope the bake sale went well! FIVE dozen cookies AND fudge is a great contribution. Now, I'm wishing for some rain for you and your garden!

Sending healing energy, positive thoughts, , {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and prayers for everyone!

As an 'aside', I know I'm not the only one who remembers when, if you walked in in the middle of a movie, you could sit and watch until you had seen the whole thing.

I also remember going, one time, to a theater in an 'underdeveloped country', where 'general admission' seating was on hard wooden benches. The premium seating was comfortable and in a separate, enclosed, air-conditioned, area. The temperature in the non-A.C. area was in the 90's F.

Julie.... I won a hanging digital feed scale, a curry brush and a really good quality hoof pick.I came out well ahead of my investment in gas. I also met a Vet there who was investigating the possibility of using mare mules as embryo recipients (surigate mothers) for valuable horse foals. I told him that a friend of mine in Ocala, Florida has been doing that for many years. I gave him my friends info, and he'll be looking him up im a couple of weeks when he's due to visit farms in the Ocala area. He was VERY excited to learn about it.

Heidi, I am sure the vet you met was very happy to have talked with you. I hope he gets lots of good information from your friend in Ocala. Congrats on your winnings. those were nice door prizes.

DORA, could not get link to work for me, but I have seen this before and there were candy treats on the list I did not recognize too.

Julie, I can understand your hubby being discouraged and ready to give up. Sometimes it gets very hard when you are so tired and not making progress.I also understand your impatience with the patient. Happened to me, unfortunately at same time hubby was impatient with me. The few words that were exchanged did clear the air.

Julie, is there someone who can come help out a bit, family or friends that have said 'Let me know if I can help.' Sometimes you just have to ask. It is hard to admit you need help, or it was for me, but once I did, life was so much better for all of us. Special Huge Hugs to you, dear. I do hope you can find time for some much needed sleep. Wish I were closer, would come do one of the emptyings and checking a day, so you could sleep.

Time for bed here. I am too achy and sleepy to turn clocks back tonight, can do that tomorrow. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Hubby has given up coke. Coke Zero actually. After 2 days I filled a couple of water jugs and put them in the fridge for him. Thank you, he says. I didn't think of that... (?) today he says, dang where'd the water jug go? Do you think D took it? Why would she take it? I don't know, because she wanted a water jug. I walked into the kitchen and pointed at the jug, sitting on the bench in plain sight. Hmmm... cleaned that up by the way, he doesn't say dang.

Just got back from the sale barn. I need to seriously thin out the cow herd, so today I took the first 2 pregnant cows down there to sell. I plan on cutting down to a total of 8 or 9 cows and one bull for this winter and see how that goes. If that is manageable, I'll keep them. If not, I'll sell them all. I go back down tomorrow evening and pick up the check. My fingers are crossed that I get a good price. I expect I'll sell a couple of cows every week until the number is down. IH is furious. He wants the money from the cows, but my lawyer says according to Kentucky law, he has no claim on them or the income from them..

Heidi stuff IH. He can walk out and still expect rewards!!!! You are so better off now. glad you had an enjoyable night out - and had the wins. Good idea to cut the herd down to a level you can handle. So glad IH is missing out.
Julie - rejection was the main contender for the creatinine spike and fluid retention but almost ok now. Hope the blood tests reveal something and they can help hubby to get some more energy and boost him up a bit. So hard to go on if you feel down all of the time. MizsT is right - you need help - even just some time out to veggie for a while. Until hubby can look after the bags himself (or at least part of the time) it is up to you and running a household as well is just too much. Is it a colostomy or ileostomy bag? Is it permanent or Hartmann's?
Suzy - sometimes they can be so frustrating. How are you keeping now? when you were having the treatment on your face, how long did it take? I am starting on Efudix on my nose and I look like Rudolph.
June - great your treatment is continuing and you are listening to your body and getting plenty of rest. How many more treatments are planned now?
Hubby and son 3 in Bangkok at the moment - had a wonderful time last night - watched what I felt like on tv (including a movie with swear words - banned in our house - unfortunately not many movies around without them these days). Also watched The Mad World of Donald Trump - very interesting. Waiting on the result of Wednesday. I don't know how a country with so many millions of people could end up with these two as the best candidates. But I suppose Australia isn't doing much better with our lot. Will sign off before I offend too many, cheers.

Greetings, Everyone!

Heidi, I hope you get a really good price for the pregnant cows! I'm delighted that IH has no claim on them or the income from them!

Midge, great news that the creatinine level is improving and fluid is not being retained as much! Prayers for continued improvement.

NOTICE: Feel free to bypass this paragraph, as it may be more information than you care to know. I'm just answering Midge's questions. Hubby has an ileostomy bag, which they THINK may be able to be reversed in 3 months or so. It's to allow time for healing at the other end, as section removed was in sigmoid colon and near rectum. The other bag is for the Foley catheter, which they had to reinsert on Friday afternoon. We were told that another option was to have an intermittent catheter. I asked who would be removing and reinserting if it was intermittent. Of course, it would need to be one of us. Neither of us could envision that being a possibility. Therefore, we go another 2 weeks with the catheter in place and taking a medication.

I actually practiced the cello today for about an hour. In almost a month of having no time to practice, I had lost my calluses. I had hoped to try to get another 30 minutes or so, but I couldn't find the time, and I didn't want to over-do the practicing and have fingers and muscles too sore to be able to practice tomorrow. Amazingly, my headache disappeared while I was practicing!

Midge, how do you know if a movie has some swearing? It seems like censors tend to let some things 'slip by' when judging a movie. It's a good thing your hubby isn't anywhere near our house when a bag has a leak! Before surgery, I told hubby he really needed to clean up his language. Unfortunately, I have picked up some of his phrases, and find myself using them when frustrated by a leaking ileostomy bag.

It will be good to have the election behind us in a few days. I am so sick of the gross lack of intelligence perpetrated on the American public. I agree that it is shocking that the two major contenders are the 'best' choices that could be found among SO many citizens. Of course, there are so many people who want no part of running the country, and there is so much money being spent to back a candidate that certain billionaires and/or Political Action Committees think can be 'bought.' Very frightening times!

Midge, enjoy the quieter moments and opportunities to watch whatever you want on television while your hubby and son #3 are away!

Hoping everyone is enjoying these early November days! Sending lots of {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy, , prayers, and positive thoughts for all!

What a lovely day today. I have windows open and a nice breeze blowing in. Humidity low, temps perfect, the bluest skies imaginable, love it.

I am looking for a receipt for my eyeglasses. I put it away 'in a safe place' until I could get paperwork from insurance, so I can be reimbursed. It must really be a safe place, I cannot find it, and I had 2 copies of it, too. Bummer.

Suzy, you were not a mean mom, I would have laughed too. Had a nice chuckle when I read it.

Heidi, I will join the wishes sent, that you get a very good price on the cows. I hope the 8 to 9 you plan on keeping are manageable for you.

Julie, I do hope you find a solution for the leaking ileostomy bag. and if a few words slip out, no big deal. I know how frustrated I would be.

Time to check my laundry, hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Back from the stockyard. I would have liked a better price, but considering how old those 2 cows were, I probably got a very fair price. They were both around 14 to 15 years old, and I've had MANY calves out of each. Most cows produce calves until they're about 12 only.

While I was driving down to the stockyard, I got a text from Gil. He needed my help. He needed a specific type of jar he called a Copeland jar for a shipment of worm larvae he had to send off this evening. He wanted to know where I bought them in the past for him. That sure takes a lot of nerve!! I let him figure it out for himself. (Those are the plastic jars they sell Kool-ade and lemonade mix in.)

I was talking to my friend Debbie, and she told me a funny. Her husband is a moron (she's waiting for him to move out) and has a ridiculous idea of his abilities. He's never been able to hold down any job for more than 6 months and is usually fired for incompetence. Now he wants to become a medical transcriptionist. He can barely spell 3 letter words. Debbie explained to him that he'll need to learn some basic latin to write out medical terminology. He said '' No problem. That's just Spanish!'' Debbie and I have been laughing our heads off over that.

Take heart Julie - the hard times will be over soon. I was told when my colostomy was changed to ileostomy that this was the easier bag to have reversed (which I had done in January this year), but unfortunately it is the one which is prone to leaks. As hubby starts to feel better it is easier to cope with. My hubby swears occasionally but will not have it on tv. Hence I watch what I want to when he is away or go to my no. 1 son's place each Monday night for a get-together with the other 3 to watch shows like Game of Thrones etc. Hubby stays home to watch his business and political shows which I am thoroughly sick of. You must be too with your election on tomorrow. Had a horrible time last night. No. 2 son and I were having dinner when a swarm of flying termites engulfed the lounge room - they had bored their way through a wooden ledge between the kitchen area and lounge (open plan and 2 levels). Of course I did the wrong thing and sprayed them so they will probably find a new way out tonight. Pest control people can't come for a week. Was so angry hubby had refused to have them in earlier I hung up on him when he called from Bangkok. He reminds me of an emu with it's head stuck in the sand sometimes. No. 2 son told him all calls between our mobiles are free and he called me 12 times yesterday - just wait til my son is home!! MizT how is Tania? Glad the weather is smiling at you. Hope you find your safe place soon - very frustrating - it is probably in a very obvious place. Bet you remember when you are about to go to sleep. Suzy you must keep a diary of your grandies sayings - they are classic and will be great to look back on.

Midge, tell hubby the free thing doesn't apply internationally. He might buy it and give you a break. Good luck with the termites!

June, that was a bit risky hehehe, and I got a great big out loud chuckle! I do hope the three more treatments finish successfully and then radiation is not needed. Enjoy your holiday and hope you get to the water. Tell hubby to find you a comfy place to sit and watch the water, and let you stay while he drives around his old haunts. I would come sit with you if I could, love the calming, peaceful feeling of sitting watching any body of water larger than a mud puddle. And I have sat and watched a rather large mud puddle once, when three ducks came for a swim in it hehehe.

Julie, I do wish there was something to reduce the number of leaks from hubby's bag. Two in an hour and a half is so hard on you. You never recovered from the fatigue of doing the first when there is the second. Huge Hugs to you dear. Is the visiting nurse still coming? Beg her (and anyone involved in his care) to find something else that will work for him.

Heidi, I too am sick of it. I have watched only cable with NO adds, stay away from both local and national news, and scroll on by political posts on FB. It is just too much. Sad to hear you did not get as much as you wished for with the cows. Hope for a better price for next 2 you sell. good for you letting Gil figure out his problem himself. He depended on you for so much. Could you save that text to show your lawyer, as example of how much you contributed to his business?? Just a thought.

I need to get something done today, if I can stand long enough. I do think I should get a rolling stool for my kitchen. I have a rolling secretary chair, for when I have to suddenly sit, but it is not high enough to really work for sitting to do taske, such as wash dishes. I have yesterday's and this mornings dishes to wash, I need to cook something to have for meals, maybe I can get soup made to have till after procedure, and while recovering. Easiest thing to make, plus easiest to warm up, and has enough veg and protein to count as a good meal. Maybe chicken this time. BTW my sister says I do not make soup, it is stew, because it is so thick with veg and meat.

Suzy, there is a chance of rain for later this week, so perhaps the rain dance will do some good this time. Just checked, they have moved rain till Sunday, and not as great of chance or over as long a period of time. bummer.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Hello, Dear Friends!

June, what wonderful news that you have three more treatments and will be finished on Dec. 1. Thinking positive thoughts that radiation treatment may not be necessary! You deserve some quiet time watching the water when you and Ken are in Wollongong. Tell him it's what the doctor ordered.

June, your chicken or egg story brought a chuckle! I think we need more of these stories - no competition between those who share - but certainly more enjoyable than politics and elections!

The home care nurse visits again in the morning. I know she is trying to find things to make things easier for us. One of the bags that leaked was a one-piece with the bag already attached to the 'appliance' that surrounds the stoma with adhesive. I was skeptical about it, but she said she had other clients that really liked it and wanted us to try. It was flat, while some of the 'systems' we have tried were concave, which I'm thinking works better for hubby. (He had a follow-up appointment with surgeon today, and we discovered he lost more than 25 pounds since the surgery.) He seems to do better with the appliance that 'pushes in' to the area, rather than being flat. (Of course, it doesn't really push in, but follows the contours of his body better.) Another possible problem is that on one side of the appliance, the adhesive ends up crossing over his belly button, so doesn't really make a good seal there, especially with all the sitting he's doing. The good news is that the surgeon said it MIGHT be possible to reverse the stoma by Christmas, if he can regain some weight, strength, and stamina. That would be a huge Christmas present for us! We have a goal to get him healthier!

Midge, I wish I knew of a rolling stool that would be the right height for you to use in the kitchen! Have you looked on Amazon? Maybe a chef's catalog? Possibly draftsmen or architects have a similar need. I'm sure there must be others who would benefit from such a device.

Both of our D's work full-time. One has 3 children (5th grade, 3rd grade, and Kindergarten) and lives near the east coast of the U.S. The other has a 9-month old baby, but lives nearer to us. (She could benefit from some help, as the baby rarely naps and doesn't sleep through the night.) Both girls are about as busy as possible, but have offered to come and help - or find someone who could be hired to help. We're hoping that things will get better as we learn which appliance/bag system works best for hubby - AND figure out how long we can go between empties. So we haven't acted on their offer.

Heidi, I'm guessing anything you have that can be used as evidence to document the idiocy could be helpful for your case. Hoping the next couple of cows bring a better price.

MizT, hoping you and Tanya are both feeling well. Still wishing for some rain for you.
