It's hit 40 here. Luckily I am now home and in the air conditioning. They expect power outages around 5.30 tonight when everyone gets home from work and turns on their AC.

So Alie just turned up unexpectedly. We've just spent an hour going through my jewellery and memory boxes. She has inherited a few things early.

Heidi, Gil's tampering with your mail is a Federal Offense. I do hope you have mentioned this to your lawyer. What a creep. Maybe you should have your bills sent to a post office box, where he does not have a key?

I had checked in looking for a post from Heidi. glad to find one, and the reason you had been unable to post. VERY glad the epidural was a top three success, hope it lsts the entire 3 months with greatly reduced pain levels. Hugs, friend.

Past my bedtime, I could not get pain levels down to be comfortable in bed. MUCH better now, and not the first idea what of all the things I tried was the one h=that at last helped. I am off to bed before whatever it was wears off.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU HEIDI

Greetings to All!

MizT, good advice about a few crackers being enough when medication is to be taken 'with or after a meal.' What a great idea to share a pizza with Scrabble friends after the game!

Hooray! Heidi is back after a tough epidural, but no thanks to IH. Hiding bills so they can't be paid seems to be the antics of an immature teen-ager.

Suzy, a busy day for both you and hubby! I hope everything was accomplished in a timely manner!

Happy Birthday, Heidi! Probably one of the happiest in many years! I hope you can celebrate!

Great TOPP, Suzy!

Suzy, did Alie say why she decided to visit unannounced? I hope you had fun looking through jewelry and meow boxes!

MizT, so glad SOMETHING worked to reduce pain levels. Now, if only you knew what it was!

It's time for me to get to bed. Sending , healing energy, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, prayers, and positive thoughts

I just called out to hubby and Alie, guess who was at the show today? Our local Show was on today. (For non Australians, wood chopping, cattle judging, fruit and flower judging, rides like the tilt a whirl, side shows like the clown heads you put the ball in to win prizes, miss showgirl competition, and lots more.)

Prime Minister Turnbull was there. Mom, you got it wrong, it's Prime Minister Trumbull. That's Sean Spicer, that was a good one.

Heidi, have a wonderful pain free birthday.
The heat knocked me about a bit today. We were out (shopping) till midday so the house warmed up and it was hard to cool it down. The thermometer said 41.5*C once when I looked. Forecast hotter tomorrow but I will put the AC on early and that will keep the house cooler. The AC is on in the bedroom and that is nice and cool so we should be able to sleep.

No it isn't MizT. Until the divorce is final, the phone and internet account is in both our names. So is the one from the power company. So he can legally help himself to any letter addressed to him, too. The mortgage is still in both our names, but the bank had no problem with me setting up the payments and letters in my name only. They got sick of Gil being late every month, and them having to send out reminder letters and phone calls. I just have the payments automatically deducted from my checking account so there are no late fees, and no additional paperwork. But he can help himself to any letters they send me since he's still legally half owner. I just want to get this over with!!!!!

The back feels just fine today. It's warm outside... 58F / 14.4C, and sunny. And the dogs left me a nice present.... a BIG dead Opossum . Biggest male I've ever seen. These aren't anything like your cute Aussie Possums. These things are mean as all get-out, and carry a disease that is fatal to horses. Getting rid of this guy will help keep the numbers down. He must have been the dominant breeding male.

DorA, I've heard of shin splints but didn't really know anything about them other than they are painful. I googled and I still don't know what they are other than painful. Maybe I should be more patient or determined when I google. I hope you feel better soon.

Heidi, although Gil can take the letters, I don't understand why he would. Other than it fits past behaviour. Frustrating!

June, the weather is much cooler here today, hope that is true up your way too!

The fire stories are terrible! I haven't heard of any deaths though, which is good news. The injured firefighter sounds like he's in a bad way. And the lost homes! 9 out of 12 in one small community, some of them belonged to volunteer firefighters. Thank goodness the weather is cooler and there are fewer fires today.

He has one week from the day the divorce is final to get his stuff. But he has some big pieces of furnature and a LOT of books and papers and clothes here, and seems in no hurry to get them. But his usual pattern with everything is to wait until the last minute, panic, and then blame everybody but himself. Then he begs for more time with the reason that he was busy the previous day and couldn't do it. ... even if he has months when it could have been done. I've told him that whatever he hasn't gotten by the deadline will be thrown out in trash bags or left in the ditch for anyone to take. Or donated to charity. I made one mistake, though. I hadn't realized that he had completely forgotten about his black powder muzzle loader from the Civil War, and I reminded him to take it, along with all his other firearms (except his rifle: he'd already taken that). I could have sold the one from the Civil War for MANY thousands of $$$ if he left it here. Or donate it to a museum. It's easily the most valuable thing he owns. The other 5 he'd forgotten about range from $500 to $1000 each in value, I think. I won't be reminding him of anything else, though. There is one item I want to burn. Or have buried. He has a piece of American flag, also from the Civil War, saturated in dried blood, and framed (along with a story that goes with it) hanging on a wall in his office downstairs. I am horrified every time I see it. To me, a piece of a flag and the blood of a dead soldier should be shown respect and properly treated. They do NOT belong hanging on a wall in my house. If he leaves it, which he has so far, I will turn it over to some Veterans organization for proper respectful treatment.

Another delightfully quiet day today.
Several cows are getting close to calving..... within a couple of days. I'm gonna have to start checking them more frequently as of tomorrow. At least the weather is perfect for calving. Above freezing at night, 50's during the day, and mostly dry. Strangest winter weather we've had in Kentucky since I've been here: 25 years.

I don't know what is happening in Louisville. In the past 4 days, there have been 151 heroin overdoses!!! The hospitals have never seen anything like this. They say they usually have 1 or 2 a day. To me, even that is excessive. I'm so glad that I'm an hour's drive away.

Heidi, I've been to Louisville, 1988. Sounds like a bad batch of heroin. Not good. Are many of them fatal overdoses?

Do you have a divorce date we can count down to with you?

Hi, Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day!

When we got home from our Woodturners meeting tonight, we found a message on our answering machine that said she hoped we were enjoying a romantic and elegant dinner. We laughed; can't remember any romantic & elegant dinner on Valentine's Day. (We're too practical.)

Sending cheerful and positive thoughts, healing energy, , prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for all!

We don't really do the Valentine's Day thing either Julie. We leave the celebration for our anniversary on st paddys day. Not sure we'll be able to this year though. It will depend on hubby's surgery day. It will be our 27th.

Suzy, so pleased that you have a date for hubby's surgery. I am sure everything will go well. They only operate if they think there will be good results.
We exchange cards on Valentines Day and Hubby did buy me a bunch of flowers.(Pink Asian lilies). I cooked a nice piece of steak with mushroom sauce for dinner.
Last day of treatment today and then nothing for 4 weeks when I will have a CT scan to see how the treatment has worked.

FIRST CALF OF THE SEASON BORN!!!
It's a nice, healthy male. And thanks to the last epidural, I was able to tag him comfortably.

There are now 3 calves on the ground... 2 males, 1 female. The female is tiny, which is a blessing bedause the mama (#801) is a first calf heifer herself. She was bred to the young bull, Duke, and although his pedigree says that he should produce small calves in first time heifers, they don't always read the rule books themselves. I'm so relieved that he worked out in real life what I interpreted on paper. Also, this was the first-time heifer with the smallest pelvic measurements so if any one of the first timers were to have problems, it would be her.

Anecdote. Isobel wouldn't stay sitting to eat her lunch. Dana said, if you don't stay in your seat, I'll tie you to your chair. Isobel grinned big and cheekily and stood up. Dana tied her to her chair, with a ribbon, in a bow. I don't think Dana expected to have to follow through with her threat, but if you don't you pay for it for months when they decide to test everything! I thought it was a creative way to follow through without being cruel. She's up now.
