I think it's time . . .
Begin each day with a grateful heart.
Never let a bad day make you feel like you have a bad life.
Don’t let someone else’s opinion of you become your reality.
It’s never too late to be what you might have been.
If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.

Heidi, I'm hoping Bear finds his way back to you soon! (You don't suppose Gil had anything to do with leaving the gate open? I apologize for thinking such thoughts, but his past actions have left some doubt about his intentions. I'm sorry for bringing additional doubt into the picture.)

I think the same Julie - Heidi, can you get someone to stay with you whilst you finalise everything? He is excelling himself with his greediness at the moment, I wouldn't put anything past him.
Julie - how is your hubby now?

Thanks for asking, Midge. Hubby has made a lot of improvement and is back to doing most of the things he could do before, though he seems to tire more quickly. (But then, neither of us is getting any younger.) I hope you will soon experience greatly improved health! It is definitely a pain to need to take medications to counter the effects of other medications that are required. Take care, my dear!
DOrA, so glad you liked to TOPP! It was a selection of quotes I gathered, but unfortunately, I don't know the source information. I will let it be known that they are NOT original to me. I hope you're well! Take care, and please let us know when you take up the hiking challenge again!
Thinking of everyone and hoping each day will be better than the preceding one! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

So sorry that Bear is still missing.
great top Julie.
Midge, sorry things are not going so well for you. Hope that they improve soon.
nice to see you back posting DoA.
I was doing some more painting today but soon got tired. It is also a cooler day and I got cold. My last blood test said I am anaemic so that explains a few things. I must try and get the blood count up or I will have to have a blood transfusion. Other than the wind and diarrhoea I am not feeling too bad.

Hi June, I specifically came here to see if you had posted. I'm glad to hear you aren't too bad, though wind and diarrhoea can be miserable. Hugs.
Midge, your post has left me almost hyperventilating. My doc has said if he were me he would go after hubby's doc for compensation. He said, when major arteries are cut there is a 50% chance of death. It doesn't make sense that they couldn't stop the bleeding from a renal artery. I realised that you were a lot closer to dying than I understood. And that I'm becoming angry that I lost hubby when I shouldn't have.

Suzy, I understand you becoming angry. Don's unnecessary death upset me terribly. I never wanted to express to you all my thoughts at the time.

Greetings, Friends!
Heidi, I can only imagine hour concern and worry about Bear. I hope he is found soon!
Midge, I'm sending positive vibes that the DVT and meds. reactions you're dealing with are soon improved! I'm so sorry you have had such a difficult time!
June, if only being tired and cold were the only thing you had to deal with! I certainly hope the other symptoms will lesson or even disappear completely! You amaze me with your stamina and determination to get things done in spite of health problems! Definitely a role model for many of us!
Suzy, keeping you in my thoughts! I agree with your doctor and with June. I have hesitated to express my thoughts until now, but since the subject has come up, I will share them. There should have been no medical reason for what happened to Don. You have every right to be angry! I don't know how medical malpractice lawsuits are dealt with there, but it may be worth pursuing. Do you know anyone who can make a recommendation of an excellent lawyer? Unfortunately, nothing you can do will change the outcome, but it would be nice to know that there might be some compensation that would ease your situation AND help others to know that it might be wise to look further for a recommendation for a different doctor.
I hope everyone is well and rested and looking forward to a happy weekend coming up. Sending positive vibes,
, healing energy, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and prayers for everyone!

Forgetter Be Forgotten?
My forgetter's getting better,
But my rememberer is broke
To you that may seem funny
But, to me, that is no joke
For when I'm 'here' I'm wondering
If I really should be 'there'
And, when I try to think it through,
I haven't got a prayer!
Oft times I walk into a room,
Say 'what am I here for?'
I wrack my brain, but all in vain!
A zero, is my score.
At times I put something away
Where it is safe, but, Gee!
The person it is safest from
Is, generally, just me!
When shopping I may see someone,
Say 'Hi' and have a chat,
Then, when the person walks away
I ask myself, 'who the **** was that?
Yes, my forgetter's getting better
While my rememberer is broke,
And it's driving me plumb crazy
And that isn't any joke.
CAN YOU RELATE???
Please send this to everyone you know
because
I DON'T REMEMBER
WHO I SENT THIS TO!
LIVE, LOVE & LAUGH A LOT

I could not have said it better, or even as well as, Julie did, Suzy. You need to nail the b@stards so that others don't go through what you are suffering. And you deserve major compensation for them destroying your life with Don. There must be a good, cut-throat lawyer somewhere in your area. Australia IS known for it's sharks.
Still no word on Bear. The longer this goes on, the less chance there is for him. He needs his epilepsy medication.

Hi, Everyone!
What a great poem, DOrA. Unfortunately, it's too true, at least in my case. But if we can't laugh, the other alternative is tears.
Heidi, I keep hoping that someone found Bear and has taken him in. But that should mean that they would take him to the vet if they realized he has epilepsy. I'm still thinking positive thoughts that he will get back to you somehow - and soon!

Checking in to say HI and I have been reading tonight. Just no time to reply to all, it is past my bedtime. Only reason I am still awake is a bit of a tummy upset. since it seems to be calmed down now, I should get to bed.
Hugs to each of you, and hope to be back tomorrow, when Alabama has another almost winter day! Temps will be 25 degrees colder than first of the week, bummer. Not enough to hurt the flowers, but will be hunting a jacket or cardigan (jumper?) tomorrow.

I picked up Don today so I'm a little sad. It wasn't all bad today though. I met my bro and nieces for lunch with all of my gang. In the car later I changed to a country music station because it seems to soothe Tahli. She immediately said, this is comfortable music. I love that she expressed her feelings that way!

MizT, I'm sorry to hear about the tummy upset, but that seems to be an improvement over how you were feeling last week. I hope you have been able to stay warm enough today and hope you'll be warm enough during the weekend!
Suzy, I'm glad you were able to find some enjoyment for at least part of the day! Good for Tahli being able to identify music that is soothing and comfortable for her! That can be HUGE as she gets older.I hope you have some music that is soothing and comfortable for you, too!

Boy, it is the wee hours of the morning and I cannot get to sleep. Aches and pains, nothing life threatening, but so damned inconvenient. Just was time to repeat sleep and pain medication, I hope it works this time.
Julie, my apartment is nice and warm, no heat on even and apartment has stayed a comfy 75*F. I did not realize how much noise the AC unit plus 2 fans made till I got them all off today. Enjoying the quite.
It is so sad to see friends who are ageing more quickly as they get older. My friend Caudelle has come by the last 2 days for me to take her blood pressure. In the short visit, repeating things she said just minuets before. Her daughter is trying to get her to move to Michigan, she is worried about her Mom, but C can be strong willed and it is just not gonna happen. she would need to move in with daughter, as she has found nothing to compare with our 'affordable housing with services' up there, even at much higher prices. Daughter works, so C would be alone all day. No activities in the community even. I do not know what the outcome will be if her memory continues to get worse, which it usually does once it starts.
Connie had her port put in today, getting her ready for chemo. she is still in great spirits, and is sure this treatment will be successful. If one's frame of mind and outlook makes a difference, then she has a great chance.
Almost 2 am, and I need to get to sleep. Can someone send the sand man, or sing a lullaby for me?
Hugs to each of you. Heidi, I hope Bear is found soon. June, hope the wind and diarrhea improve. Suzy, agree that you should contact a medical malpractice lawyer, a good one.
Catch you all tomorrow, well, later today, more hugs.

Risky but not Risqué, (I hope I'm not repeating myself...
WHAT CAUSES ARTHRITIS?
A drunk man who smelled like beer
sat down on a subway next to a priest.
The man's tie was stained, his face
was plastered with red
lipstick, and
a half-empty bottle of gin was sticking
out of his torn coat pocket. He opened his newspaper
and began reading.
After a few minutes the man turned to the priest and asked, 'Say
Father, what causes arthritis?'
The priest replies, 'My
Son, it's caused
by loose living, being with cheap, wicked women, too much alcohol, contempt for your fellow
man, sleeping around with
prostitutes and lack of a bath!'
The drunk muttered in response, 'Well,
I'll be damned', then returned to his paper.
The priest, thinking about what he had said, nudged the
man and apologized .
'I'm very sorry. I didn't mean to come on so strong. How long have you had arthritis?'
The drunk answered, 'I
don't have it, Father.
I was just reading here that the Pope does.'
MORAL: Make sure you understand the question before offering the answer.

When Love Fades
Last night I was sitting on the sofa watching TV.
When I heard my wife's voice from the kitchen ask...
'What would you like for dinner, my love? Chicken, Beef or Lamb?'
I said, 'Thank you, dear, I think I'll have chicken.'
She replied , 'You're having soup, [expletive]. I was talking to the cat.'

As if I don't have enough irritants in my life, I now have a toothache. Bottom premolar. I'm gonna have to call the dentist tomorrow to schedule ANOTHER root canal. It feels like the root of the tooth might be fractured, though, which would mean losing the tooth altogether. It also means I'll be sticking to very soft foods tonight.

DORA, cute joke and not risky at all hehehe
Julie, good of you to check in, even if you could not respond to posts here. It is good to know you are still up and about, have paid your electric and cable bill, and have mind enough to think of all of us
I think today was the last of the unseasonably cool days today, more normal temps tomorrow. I watered my containers this afternoon. I had some Salvia in 2 pots. bought 2 six packs, put six plants into each container. Today I found one with 4 plants and two holes in the soil. someone helped themselves to two of the young plants. I am getting more and more discouraged with trying here, when we have residents who do not understand they cannot just take whatever they want. Also had a big wind that turned over several pots, did I tell you already? The gerenanium, one from last season I overwintered in my apartment, had two large branches broken off. the unknown 'vietnamise' plant also had one branch broken. I put that one back into the soil, and took the branches of geranium out back, got 7 cuttings from the branches. the geraniums are looking good, have not even wilted, the other plant not so lucky, leaves very wilted, do not think that one will root. One of the residents who once worked at a large plant nursery locally is going to buy flowers for her church. she is taking photographs of the unusual plant, to see if they can identify it. I was told it bloomed, and saw the first bloom on it today, a purple deep throated flower, straight from the main stem. I hope she can find it's name and we can look up care for it.
Enjoying my daily visits from Caudelle, so I can take her blood pressure for her. doc wanted a daily reading, for one week. We sit and chat for a bit while she is here, great company.
Back to the book I am reading, it is book two of a 3 part series by Nora Roberts. Great light reading when you just want to escape for a bit. I have book 3 ordered, but will be maybe another week till it arrives. I keep finding books on the free table that are part of a series, and buying the other books runs up my Amazon tab for the month. cost of the book is not much, it is the $4 postage each that adds up, for a used paperback. Could be worse, and I do enjoy any long book about the same family. I have a 3 part collection by Ken Follett that I was given. Over 900 pages each, will not finish that in a week like the Roberts 3 part-er.
Heidi, still no word on Bear? I know you would like to know something, even if he is gone. You always wonder what happened if you never hear.
Wishing the topsiders a good night's sleep and a great Monday to the Dugs. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Just dropping by before bed to say Hello and Good Night!
Our wood turning club had a president's challenge to collaborate with 1 or 2 other members to make an object or project. Our meeting is tomorrow night. My turning partner just left our house (a few minutes after 1 a.m. We made 3 similar wooden 'bottles' and 3 tops for them. One top looks like the metal cap that was kind of 'crimped' on the top of a soda/soft drink/'pop' bottle years ago. One is sort of fashioned after a wine bottle cork. The last one looks like two small 'balls' with a captive ring turned in the valley between them, all turned from one piece of wood. She also did a collaborative projects with two other turners, so that each of them started an object, passed it to the next for further turning or embellishment, then passed it to the third. There will be a small cash prize for the top 3 winners (by popular vote). We don't expect to win, but it was fun to accept the challenge! And now, with aching feet and back, I'm off to bed. I'll try to stop by tomorrow night after we get home from the meeting.

My lawn mower broke another belt today. I've had enough. I'm going to buy another one tomorrow. That mower spent most of last summer and fall in the repair shop from breaking 3 straight belts. Between the cost of the belts ($80+ each) and labor costs, I decided it's time to cut my losses and start fresh.

Heidi, it might be time to look at a ride-on mower. Do you find it strange that Bear who was devoted to you, has gone missing by a gate that was mysteriously open? Suzy - did a note to you but it wouldn't load. Will pm you later about medical negligence. My experience so far is very difficult, court in September and no lawyer. Isn't it wonderful what comes out of the mouths of babes!! June - best wishes for your treatment, take it very easy and hope it is not too difficult. Julie - hope you can put some photos on site - would love to see your creations. MizT - love the way you spread the geraniums - I love them - remind me of Paris many years ago. I too have a weird plant that no-one knows what it is. It has red berries hanging like a huge bunch of grapes on it. Pretty ugly, but then I like things that are different. Cheers to all.

This mower is a zero turn ride on mower. A very good one. And it's only 3 years old. But this is the one that Robert set on fire shortly after I got it, and I suspect the heat warped the deck just enough to cause belts to jamb and break.
Yes, I have my suspicions over that gate being opened. But I have no evidence and can prove nothing. If I could, the guilty party would be in jail. And I cannot understand where Bear went. I feel like I lost a child.
