Hello, Everyone! It's not yet midnight, but my alarm will be early tomorrow, so I need to be quick.

Suzy, you have done well with your teaching! I'm glad you are able to find some time for yourself! You said you have one week until the holidays. Does your assigned block continue past then? Are you subbing for just one teacher, but for all of the classes that teacher normally teaches? Planning can be a lot of work!

I'm not sure if it's easier to substitute on a day-to-day basis, or on a long-term basis. I once did an entire semester - in a half-day kindergarten. The other half-day I was the aide to a kindergarten child with cerebral palsy, so I was working full-time, only had to do plans for the half-day.

Tami, does your school usually host Open House twice in the first 4-5 weeks of school? Is it just an opportunity for parents to come to school, meet the teachers and follow their child's schedule, or do you give a formal presentation? Either way, it certainly makes for a long day! Congratulations to your hubby on his new job. Will he work during the school day - or second shift? I hope he enjoys the work and the people he'll be working with!

MizT, as I scrolled down in the nomorerack site, I noticed at least a half dozen or more sheet sets at different prices. I had never looked at that site before, and was surprised at the variety (and number) of items offered.

Hi, Lizzy! What a clever idea to post a smilie to help you find where you read the last time you were here! I hope you and your family members are well! How nice to look forward to a meeting with Rolanda!

Suzy, what a good point - to go into training prior to going on an extended holiday with a lot of walking! June, you and Ken impress me with all you do and the way you keep up your energy! I hope you thoroughly enjoy London!

Brenda, I'm also anxious to see a photo of your patio - and the cabin that was built. Will it be painted or covered with siding? We're not trying to rush you; we're just interested in the project!

Heidi, I hope you are able to enjoy the trip next week! At least you will have a respite from farm chores for a few days. Will your friend be filling in for you again with the dogs and birds? Sometimes the preparation for being away, like shopping for food for the animals and the person who will be staying, planning that everything that can be done ahead of time is done, packing, preparing the RV, etc., seems like more work than if you just stayed home. I hope the trip and the wedding will be relaxing and enjoyable!

Pumpkin time has arrived. Please feel free to take and share the positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}} and . Have a great afternoon/evening/night!

I'm sorry I wasn't watching the numbers. Here's a next-to-TOPP for everyone:

Eye-opener today. 'Miss can we watch Jai?', (me: the one from X factor?), 'yes, he's so sexy'...

um sexy?... he's a little boy. Then I worked out he's the same age as the girls who said it. Oh, okay, maybe to them he is.

Gekko my friends.
Sorry I have been missing. Got a text from Cyn today checking if I was OK which I am.
Had my cousin from South Australia turn up last Friday when I wasn't expecting him until Sunday night which threw me into a tizz and just haven't got back on the computer. He is fixing up the wiring in my house and between work, my birthday and helping him have not had time to scratch myself.
Anyway have not had a chance to catch up on what is happening so sending love and healing vibes to you all.

Morning all. Just a quicky before school.

Broni, glad you had a good birthday. Hope you had fun with your cousin.

Julie, we usually only have one open house. I am teaching in a special program, similar to drop-out prevention. We had an open house just for the special program two weeks ago. I also teach one regular math class so I had to be there last night also.

IH is gone for the day, and has my truck and stock trailer. He had to transport a load of calves to Tennessee for a parasite research study, and his truck has so many miles on it now that he doesn't trust it out of state. He's got well over 400,000 miles on it! He's decided to relegate it to a farm truck, since it looks so beat up, but runs fairly well still. So my only transportation right now is my RV, if I have to go anywhere. Which, fortunately, I don't have to. My tractor is also gone... the window is being replaced... so I can't do a whole lot of farm work today, either. I like days like today.

June...what a nice fellow helping to carry your bags. Enjoy Brendas English weather of milder conditions from what you have had. It has been quite warm here, for this time of year. Hope it doesn't mean a very hot summer to follow. Bush fires
in Oz and the US have been awful.
Julie...lovely posts as usual. I rely on your updates.

Nola - Vicki (Victoria), Kerrie (you probably met her last time)and Martha have already replied that they are coming. Haven't heard from Broni but last time I spoke to her about it she said she may be away that weekend. Still waiting to hear from Grasshopper and Katitude.
Suzy - Em just told me she loves Jai! I asked if he was 'sexy' - 'sure is' was the reply! Ah, tweenies.

I'm out of the loop when it comes to those tweenies and their crushes. I don't know if it's a good thing or not.

IH is back home with my truck and trailer. I haven't had a chance to inspect them in daylight for damage, but he ''says'' they ran perfectly and he had no accidents. Past history tells me that he could have driven them off a cliff and he'd say the same thing. I'm a bit suspicious since he thanked me twice for letting him use them. He never thanks me unless reminded to do so..... And I didn't remind him.

Very wet day yesterday and my unbrella kept getting stuck in an up position! Wicked was just OK. They had lovely voices but we could not understand the words they were singing so lost the plot of the story. Top Hat however was fantastic. Set in 1930's it had lots of dancing (tap and other) songs we knew, diction was completely heard and lovely costumes.
We have been to the V&A, science and Tate Gallery. Yesterday was State rooms at Buckingham Palace. Lunch in the cafeteria there. Walked down Pall Mall to Trafalgar Square. There is a tri athalon this weekend so there were tents, portaloos and it was almost impossible to see any of the statues. Will pick up a car this morning and start travelling around.
had a chat with Brenda, looking forward to meeting her tomorrow week.
Tami, so pleased for you that hubby has found a job.
Tricia, I love nice sheets. Especially when newly washed and have been hanging in the sunshine!

Those suitcases sound more desirable than one of ours which is a black and white cow print. That is very easily recognised on the carousel at the airport.
We are looking forward to seeing Ken and June a week on Sunday.

My suitcases are the standard dark blue, looks like all others, except I tied a piece of very bright fabric to handle of each. They are very easy to spot on the carousel, and an inexpensive fix.

Much cooler temps out this morning, with lower humidity. Perhaps we have a start towards fall weather.

Heidi, I do hope you find your truck and stock trailer in good condition.

Brenda, hope you enjoy your meeting with June, and June, visa versa.

Rolanda, I hope Stephen enjoys his holiday and remembers that Mum worries about him. May he communicate daily to let you know all is well.

I had the best night's sleep and pain relief that I have had in weeks. I went back to my old pain meds last night. No spots today, I do hope I have gotten away with it. I badly needed a good night's sleep.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

My new suitcases are tan leather with brown leather corners and decorations, with hair-on cowhide stars on the front panel. They're easy to spot, too. The one I took to MizT's over a year ago committed suicide in Florida last Thanksgiving. I got the new ones down there on half price sale on Black Friday. The store also had some zebra patterned ones with pink trim. They'd stand out like a sore thumb, but they were way too over the top for me. Plus, I hate pink. Since then, though, I've seen several people with identical zebra and pink bags. To each his own.

I checked out my truck and trailer, and saw no new damage to either. What a shock!

I'm SO glad you had a good night's sleep, MizT. You definitely needed it. I hope you get another one tonight,

We had a nice, cool night last night as well. I think Fall may be coming.

Just taking a short break from grading papers... I can tell who studied and who didn't!! The biggest surprise was the paper of the kid who does absolutely nothing in class. Every class he sits with his earphones in and refuses to do anything at all. He didn't pass, but he beat some of the other students!

I asked Alie about Jai and she said 'he's like 2 years old!'...(he's 14)

When I was in school, wearing earphones in class would lead to : 1) confiscation of the earphones, and 2) a trip to the principal's office.

Heidi, try getting a kid nowadays to 1)hand over anything (you're not allowed to take them, they have to hand them over) or 2)go anywhere they don't want to go (I have to have someone go and get the person I want them to go to, which only works if they aren't on class - order is the head teacher of your subject, who can refer to the deputy, only they can refer to the principal)

Always been Sir and Miss here - Ma'am is for the Queen!
Suzy - I admire anybody who can deal with some of the kids these days, they know what they can get away with, don't they? We only had to be warned of the consequences - being sent to the headmaster/mistress, detention, telling parents and we towed the line.
You all deserve medals - and better pay!

Hello all. I am having my own problems with the grandies, aged 8 and 10, but going on 16. Their attitudes definitely need adjusting. I looked after them for about 8 hours yesterday, and they tested everything I said, didn't listen to me. I was only enforcing their house rules about computer usage, and I get yelled at for being mean!!!! I am waiting for an apology from both of them, but I won't stand on one leg waiting. I was so furious last night when I got home. To make a long story short, we were supposed to take them to a fair near Ottawa this coming Saturday, but we have cancelled. They have to learn there are consequences for their actions. I love my grandies, but I don't always like them. I think that sums it up. Mean grandma signing off for now .....

Four (4) days from now we'll be somewhere in central-to-northern Illinois. My clothes are already packed in the RV. I just need to do last minute stocking of the refrigerator with milk, veggies and meats, and get a fresh loaf of bread. Of course, IH hasn't started packing anything.

Here, but only sorta. I've read, kinda. Love you all, really.

I may have gotten a kid expelled today. It upset me so much I had to go to a bathroom and take deep breaths to stop hyperventilating. Don't get me wrong, he deserved it. I just didn't like being a part of it. That deputy is a real softy so he may be given his umpteenth chance. Don't know how I feel about that.
