Suzy - was looking up a singer last noght and saw he will have a show near you in July. I had never liked Glen Shorrock (LRB) until I saw a show of his a couple of years ago - he is extremely good. Hope you can get to see him - I think Alie would like him too.

Venting here because I have no-one else I can tell - especially my family - so ignore if you feel like it. Yesterday went to vascular surgeon and was told the pain in lower legs and having to stop walking every 50 metres or so, is the result of a thrombosis from when an incompetent Dr accidentally cut the femoral artery in 2011. This jerk told me nothing could be done until it ulcerates or goes gangrenous - I walked out. Arrogant idiot .... Today I have renal clinic and I am still angry enough to speak my mind.I want this in writing for my court case.

The gift that keeps on giving Midge? If they can do something when it’s ulcerous or gangrenous, why can’t they do something now?

He was an arrogant pig - when he saw my legs he asked what I had done to bruise them so badly - he totally switched off when I told him it was his ultrasounds he requested. Dr said if he operates now, chances are they might be worse off. I can take the chance of wearing compression stockings but he also said that might hasten ulcers because my skin is so fragile from the steriods.
Do try and see Shorrock - he is excellent. The last show we saw he had 2 very good singers with him. I am thinking of travelling to Albury late July to see him at the SSA Club.
Watched a doco on the Rolling Stones last night - what a great band they are.l saw them in 1965 - wasn't allowed to see the Beatles as they were a bad influence - until my parents heard the song Under the Boardwalk haha

Just lost a post when my computer detected and error and restarted. I hate when Windows updates. It did a few days ago. However I still do prefer to use this laptop than my iPad or iPhone - I hate Apple technology.

I agree about Glenn Sharrock. He's well worth seeing in concert.
Midge, I too saw the Stones in 65 and again a year or 2 later. And I saw the Beatles in 64. My parents originally said no but relented. I was still at school.

I didn’t get to see the stones or the Beatles, but I was very very young in 64. I did get to see queen and John Farnham.

Glenn is performing at a club I haven’t been to since before I met Don in 88. Before that I dated a guy who lived out there. A sailor!

Hi, Everyone!

Belated Birthday Greetings to you, MizT. (I didn't have computer access for a few days.)

It was nice to see that Plum came for a visit. Hi, Plum (in case you get back here sometime soon.)

Suzy, I'm so glad your front door was fixed! A little less worry for you with the cold winds blowing!

Heidi, you are such a generous person. I hope everything works out perfectly for both you and Debbie's son!

DOrA, I'm so glad to hear that you're doing well with the increased activity level!

MizT, so glad to hear that you made more progress with your weeding.

I'm running on fumes, so off to bed for me. Sending healing energy, positive thoughts, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and

Suy John Farnham was one of our 'group' of friends who used to go to the Lyndale dances in the 60's. We were so sick of him hogging the stage we used to take up a collection to stop him singing the same songs over and over, little did we know he would become so popular.
Best wishes with the cello practice Julie.
heidi - hope the sale went through ok - you are truly a generous lady. Have you got your medical insurance sorted?
Off to Tasmania tomorrow - it is actually colder here today - was 2.5C this morning.

Hi, Everybody! I'm just getting to this page, so need to thank Suzy for a great TOPP.

Wow, Suzy, I tend to forget that things that seem so common to us (as a frost) might be so exciting for others first experiencing it. I hope it was pretty, not just white and cold.

I don't know Glen Shorrock or LRB. Guess maybe a Google search is due.

Midge, I'm so sorry for the way you were treated by the doc. Yes, it seems you need to arm yourself if you're considering a court case. People should not need to suffer the consequences of an incompetent or careless doctor - or an arrogant doc who thinks the only way to deal with something is to wait until it gets considerably worse.

Cyn, too bad about losing a post. It's so aggravating when that happens. It would be enough to turn any one of us into a grumpy old woman.

Midge, hope you enjoy Tasmania. How long will you be there?

Heidi, I hope the closing went smoothly.

MizT, hope you're feeling and sleeping better.

Thinking of those who haven't posted for a while.

Sending warm and positive thoughts, healing energy, , prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for Everyone!

The closing is in 11 hours. It should go very smoothly. I talked to the lawyer handling it yesterday and he said everything is ready and the closing should only take a few minutes. I've already gotten the necessary cashiers check ready, and the paperwork is clear and ready.

But I'm still using a cane. Stupid groin muscle.

Fun fact from Alie. John Farnham was the one who made her want to sing, only she couldn’t remember the song and didn’t know until much later who sang it.

Right now Alie is excited. A friend gave us 4 days of hello fresh food. For those who don’t know what it is, Pretty much everything you need to prepare a meal with no leftovers comes in colour coded bags. Along with a recipe. Spices etc are included in the right quantity, you just need pans and a couple of pantry items. Alie is calling the little packages ‘so cute’, and I wish we could buy these all the time!

Greetings friends. Thank You All for the birthday wishes, here and on TOS both. My sister took me to lunch, really nice oriental restaurant. I had shrimp with melon and walnuts and it was delicious, too. Enough in the to go box for another equally good meal Tuesday. They brought out a small birthday desert, chocolate of course, with 2 spoons so I could share. Just enough after out meal.

Went to Aldis on the bus yesterday. I think I bought more than the other 5 residents combined! Being unsure if I would get back anytime soon, I stocked up on items I could keep with no problem. bought 24 servings of baked beans, Maple flavored, to take to our July 4th lunch. just need a throw away pan now and I will be set.

My BIL came today, and went shopping for me. Bought a new battery for my auto, and installed it. He was saying he was just sorry it cost me so much. LOTS cheaper than if I had to have car towed to mechanic, and the up-charge for them to go purchase the battery. Then a diagnostic check for an idiot light that was on, we found how to turn it off by asking Mr Google . I am very happy, but have not taken it out for a drive yet. Still tired from all I have done this week.

Flipped over my recliner and put new slip proof pads under it, secured the tie down straps to keep the slipcover from slipping. Put away most of the 6 bags of groceries. Did some hand washing of underwear, so humid, hot I have to change to the skin after being outside.

Watered all the flowers out in parking lot. Cut back some weeds that were too large, deep rooted to pull. Stopped at the desk downstairs to pick up my BD gift I missed by not making the party. A cute little bouquet of snack sized treats glued to sticks and in an ice cream cone shaped vase, very cute.

Suzy, I am so glad the front door is repaired. Hope the back is soon.

Midge, how terrible you were treated so rudely by such an arrogant doctor. Hope you can find something/someone who can help.

cloudy outside, and I hear some notification on my cell, t storms again? yep, my weather app says 'storms entering area'. Need to look at next-rad radar map to see. I watered plants, so I am not surprised hehehe

Last evening a huge strange noise scarred all of us residents. At first I thought it was maintenance man moving the big dumpsters, but too loud and lasted too long. It was a VERY low flying airplane, jet, off the regular flight path, I live near airport ,pouring on the power, seemingly to gain elevation to miss the hills surrounding Birmingham. One of our residents, ex pilot, said he was afraid to turn around to look out window, afraid he would see the plane come at him through the window. Of course nothing on news or any explanation of the noise. More than enough excitement.Heidi, hope the pulled groin muscle becomes less painful soon.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till next time.

Good Evening, Sudoku Friends!

Heidi, I hope the closing went as smoothly and quickly as the attorney expected. I'm sorry the groin muscle is still causing so much pain and inconvenience. Hopefully it will heal soon.

Suzy, the Hello Fresh program sounds like a good idea. Let us know how it works out. Sounds perfect for you and Alie.

I'm so sorry for your neighbors, Suzy. Their son must have felt hopeless, as I'm sure they feel now. Mental illness seems to be so pervasive now. if only there were some way to help people in a meaningful way.

What a great long post, MizT. It seems that you have been extremely busy. Seems like a good idea to stock up at Aldi's when you can't predict when you can shop there again soon. Are the baked beans for an Independence Day lunch there or with family? Sounds like you have a great BIL to shop for and install a new battery for your car. The birthday gift sounds cute - and useful/ pracical.

Of course, watering the plants invited a thunderstorm to visit the area. I hope it helpful for the plants and makes pulling weeds easier. And now, I wonder if you'll find out for sure what the loud noise was last night. Don't you wonder why nothing shows up on the news after something like that? A couple of weeks ago we were driving home on a divided 4-lane highway. There was a huge back-up of traffic going the other direction. We counted 10 or 12 emergency vehicles already on the scene and about 4 more on their way. There was NOTHING on the TV or radio, and we couldn't find anything in the newspaper.

I should try to head to bed soon, so I'll close with some warm {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing energy, powerful and positive thoughts, and prayers for all!

Oops. The kitten was named ''All Ball''. Koko cried when she passed away. She had a couple of other pet cats afer that.
Koko knew more than 1000 words in sign language and was believed to have an IQ between 75 and 95. Normal for humans is 90 - 110, so Koko was about as smart as an average human (and probably a lot smarter than Trump).

I remember Koko meeting robin Williams. That was amazing!

Heidi, it’s been a while, but I think I had to present evidence of insurance at the closing on this house.

Midge, how are you not ranting and raving all the time. My vocabulary would be mostly swearing if I were you.

Mental health treatment is only meaningfully available if you have the money to pay for it. Here we can get 10 visits a year mostly covered by national health, which is only useful if you’re a little upset, not really ill. I’ve managed to get more approved through victims of crime, but.... the psychiatrist I saw for the med review said I need weekly appointments, twice weekly at first, and then I might be human in 5 years. I’m getting appts every 3 weeks. Oh well, it’s better than nothing, and the new meds work better than the old ones.

The mentioned t storm came close, but we got on rain here. Was forecast rain for today, nope, none then either.

We never saw anything about out huge noise. Many conversations 'where were you then you heard the noise>' type questions.

We had a summer solstice party today, celebrating the longest day of the year. tomorrow will be one second shorter, and days will get shorter in increasing amounts over the next 6 months till shortest day of the year.

Saw headlines today that Antarctica is getting 'taller',and that is a good thing what with rising seas. link to the story did not work for me, bummer.

Fell asleep in recliner for an hour nap at bedtime, now cannot get back to sleep. Oh well, perhaps I can sleep late. I do have a 10 am appointment with our social worker, hospital is double billing me, for 2 different bills I paid May 12. Now I must obtain 'proof of payment' that THEY will accept, from my paper bank statement, which I co not have. I use paperless, electronic banking. I can print a copy of checks, but the invoice number I added is so small I cannot read it, doubt they could either. Shannon said she could fix it easily if I have print out of the checks. I remember the problem I had, my banking app would not let me write 2 checks to same entity on same day for the identical amount. think like a computer. If they recognize $ xx.00 change one to
$ xx.01, then it took the second payment, it was not the same hehehe.

I won second game at scrabble today. Our newest player is such a poor loser, always complaining that she never wins. sort of takes the fun out of it for me. I am not as competitive, I enjoy a win, but have just as much fun when I come in 4th of 4.

OK, I will not go back to sleep sitting here reading and typing. Hugs to each of you, I did read, but was not able to comment on every post.

Suzy... the insurance requirement at closing is because most purchases close with a mortgage/lien. The bank requires the insurance. I didn't take out a mortgage for this. I paid cash in full, left over from selling that hay field.

I was just reading back and remembered something I was going to say. Have you heard of Elle, the model? She went to school with some of my friends from Uni, only then she was Eleanor. We went to a pub one night and she arrived in short shorts and high heels. She was already modeling, but wasn’t as famous yet. She would have been 19 I think.

our t storm came today, between 1 and 2 PM. I noticed it was raining as I finished my lunch, fried catfish that was yummy. I took the used take away box to trash room, and went to bed for a rest, slept soundly till my medication reminder alarm woke me. Windy enough it had blown over a couple of plants in pots. Totally unaware we had such a blowing rain, was no rain on my windows.

Had a second nap today in recliner, just before bedtime. I fell asleep watching TV. Guess I needed it.

I plan on going to a farmers market tomorrow on the bus. I think I told all of you about the produce coupons we received. Going to spend some of mine, probably on peaches, perhaps a new jar of pepper sauce for my greens. Only thing, I must be ready to leave at 8 am. Had my shower tonight, now to decide what I plan to wear, so I can sleep as late as possible. grab a cup of coffee, on with clothes and out the door. I can wake up on the bus hehehe.

nothing else going on here, catch you again soon. Huge hugs to each of you with extras.

Hi, Everyone!

Suzy, I remember seeing a video of Robin Williams and Koko interacting. It was very touching, as I recall.

Suzy, I'm so glad the new meds are working better. How could anyone afford 2 appointments a week. Even 1 a week would be beyond most people's ability to pay, and then to think of 5 years! I can't imagine facing those kind of bills. It's no wonder that people don't get treatment.

MizT, I hope your appointment with the social worker helps to straighten out the double billing problem. Hoping you were able to get to sleep tonight and that the late nap didn't interfere! Congratulations on winning the second Scrabble game. Too bad the new player is so competitive; that can ruin the fun!

Suzy, the only model that comes to mind is Elle Macpherson. I wonder if she is still modeling. That would be quite a career.

MizT, I'm glad you finally got a thunderstorm today. I hope you have fun and get lots of good food at the Farmer's Market!

Hi, Suzy! I'm not really into models or reality shows - or even very many regular TV shows. I don't think I would recognize Elle Macpherson if I saw her, but her name is familiar.

Thank goodness you aren't required to pay for this current round of counseling. Based on what the doctor said about 5 years, your 22 visits won't be the end of your visits. But, as you said, she must be good (and expensive). The important thing is that you are benefiting and improving!

I just learned something interesting.... my half brother, who I haven't heard from in many years, recently went through the same bariatric surgery I'm planning on going through. Small world. Plus, there may be some genetic component to my weight problem.

Julie, yes, I found my peaches, some blackberries and some shelled green lima beans. Also found a severe t storm and flash flooding. I had seen t storm north of us on radar before we left. I carried a plastic grocery bag to cover my electronic joy stick, my rain jacket and an umbrella big enough to keep me dry. I stayed drier than any of the other residents, only had wet slacks around my ankles. It was really fun, out in the rain .

Just waiting a few minuets for time for meds again, before going to bed. I slept in recliner for a nap after my lunch today, and again after my warm milk tonight. It is time for the bed now. Just found and ordered a couple of books, Mary Kay Andrews, finished reading one of hers last night. Light, funny, good escape from reality.

Heidi, do you have a date for your bariatric surgery yet?

Falling asleep here, more later. Huge Hugs to each of you.

Hi, Everyone!

Heidi, what a small world! Did your half brother contact you, or did you just hear the news from someone? It would be interesting to find out how the surgery and post-surgery was for him. It certainly seems likely that there is a genetic component to your weight problem.

MizT, I'm so glad you had checked weather before heading to the Farmers' Market. It seems like you were the most prepared resident! It's great that you could enjoy the rain and have a bit of fun. My guess is that the residents who weren't so well prepared may not have enjoyed it as much. Your purchases sound wonderful. I bet the things you buy there are much fresher and flavorful than what we buy in the store.

Thinking of everyone and sending healing energy, positive thoughts, , {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and prayers to all!
