Fire department are first responders to trees blocking roadways, they have the saws and the manpower to get roads passable in short time.

SUZY, I did a search for 'dose packaging for medications', and found a LOT of US pharmacies offering that service. Better words to search with:
multi dose packaging
unit dose packaging
Besides many of the big chain pharmacies that are offering this, I saw online pharmacies, sending out your prescriptions, dose packed, by mail. I do hope you can find a pharmacy that would do this for you.

Heidi, I will be thinking about you tomorrow, hope you get long lasting relief from this. Just perhaps the drugs in the injection could help the pulled groin muscle also, will keep my fingers crossed.
I got a phone call just before 1 pm. Ws I available to play cards? One of the ladies was invited to have lunch with a non resident friend. Don't blame her, I would have gone if it were me. I thought I might get to play until Betty, one of our payers who is a bit frail, only able to play the last couple of hours we pay, but when she came down, Brenda was needing to get back to her apartment and back on her oxygen, so I played from 1 till 5. I must remember to get up and stretch every hour, 4 hours in my power chair is long, I was very stiff by time I got home. Enjoyed it a lot, learning more about strategy the more I play.
Hugs again, to each of you, with extras.

Suzy, the pharmacy-sorted pill packs are called Webster packs here. Your pharmacy should be able to do it for you. Cheers.

Salti, thanks for the information. I never did add IN AUSTRALIA to my search for this information for Suzi. Brain fog I guess.

Thank you saltie and MizT, the next time I have to go in to fill my prescriptions I’ll ask about it. It would stop me doing what I sometimes do now when I can’t be bothered filling it, which is just pull out the ones that will help me sleep and ignoring the others. Those are the ones stopping me from having another stroke so I don’t let that go past a couple of days.

Loooooong day. They were super busy at pain management since the doctor is leaving tomorrow on a 3 week vacation. So I was there a long time. Then we had to drive home in a massive downpour and thunder boomer. The drive home took 1 1/2 hours.
At least the epidural was a bad one. I think it was worth it. Off to bed now.

Why are the police asking about Don?
I don't think you were in any condition to attend those funerals, Suzy. You're too stressed already.

Suzy - do you know why the police need to speak to you? All you can do is tell them what you know - you certainly deserve a lot of answers about the way Don was treated. I hope you can have your brother or a friend with you. You will find they are easy to talk to and really not scary at all. If you are not sure of an answer, tell them you need to think about it and will get back to them. I am actually glad you missed the funerals - you do not need any more pressure at the moment. I am sure the rellies will understand. Just look after yourself.

Heidi - hope you are feeling better after your lousy epidural but sorry you had such a horrible drive home.
Back from Tasmania and thrown into a pile of work things that should have been done earlier - this is what happens when you have your own small family business ..yecch. But Tassie was lovely, very cold (about 12-14C) but didn't rain which was a bonus. Caught up with friends on Bruny Island and had a lovely time on the Wilderness Train in Queenstown. We stayed in Hobart a lot of the time and went to a couple of DarkMofo events and MONA. Can't wait to go again. Next time not so much rushing around trying to do too much in a week.

Apparently this officer has been waiting and asking for information since it happened and finally got an answer. He has to put in his final report to the coroner in three weeks. The hospital didn’t follow a couple of protocols they were supposed to, which may not have changed the outcome, but have to be addressed. I’m not sure what I can do to help, but he must think there is something.

Interesting, Suzy. Do you think someone will be charged in his death?
My back feels fabulous today! But that doesn't mean I'm going to be foolish and overdo it. I want it to stay pain free.

Suzy - I remember you were thinking of seeing a soklicitor - after your visit today it might help you to make a decision. It is not easy - my case is finally going to court in March and it has taken its toll on me but I am doing this for my family for what my mistreatment put them through, and to make the hospital I was in to take responsibility so it won't happen to anyone else. The fact your hospital did not take the protocols they should have makes them responsible - who knows what the outcome could have been.

I’m kind of peeved. The hospital told him that the cancer was advanced and terminal. Unless they found something during surgery, that is not true.

Suzy the cause of Don's death was the accidental cutting of an artery during surgery wasn't it? Not the cancer? Will someone be with you when they come? Please ask them for a copy of their report when they finalise it - it may help you later on. Stay peeved, it is good for the soul sometimes.

Forgot to mention - I used to have my mother's local pharmacy do the Webster packs for her (about $8/wk - in 2011). Ok but if medicine changed during the week, it was difficult for her to know which ones to take. I have 4 weeks plastic compartment pack bought from the chemist - very easy to use. I also have my phone alarm set for 8am and 8pm - irritating but at least I don't forget my meds.

Risqué & Risky, but I’ll take a chance…
A guy goes to the post office to apply for a job. The interviewer asks him, “Are you allergic to anything?”
He replies, “Yes, caffeine. I can’t drink coffee.”
“Have you ever served in the military?”
“Yes.” he says. “I was in Iraq for two years.”
The interviewer says, “That will give you five extra points towards employment.” Then he asks, “Are you disabled in any way?”
The guy says, “Yes. A bomb exploded near me and I lost both of my testicles.”
The interviewer grimaces and then says, “Okay. You are a disabled veteran; you’ve got enough points for me to hire you right now.”
“Our normal hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You can start tomorrow at 10:00 AM, plan on starting at 10:00 AM every day.”
The guy is puzzled and asks, “If the work hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, why don’t you want me here until 10:00 AM?”
“This is a government job,” the interviewer says. “For the first two hours we just stand around drinking coffee and scratching our balls. No point in you coming in for that.”

That is funny DorA. I’ve worked in local government so it might be different, but it was full on from wo to go. Hubby worked there longer and never seemed to have enough time to do everything he was supposed to do. He also didn’t drink coffee. 😁

Suzy, Midge is right. Whether Don's cancer was terminal or not, the cause of his death was their mistake - nothing else. They need to compensate you! That's all there is to it.
I wish we lived closer, I'd help you lawyer up and protect you where and when you feel angst.
Big hugs, my friend!

Col's birthday today. We had the family celebration last Friday night but Chloe couldn't come so she and her sisters are coming to lunch. Hayley and Emily are both surprisingly coming without the boyfriends that they each are usually attached at the hip to. It will be like old times. Col loves cheesecake so I'll go to the Cheesecake Shop and buy one for his birthday cake. Yum!

Greetings friends, checking in without reading everything now, glanced at a few posts.
Suzy, I am glad that Allysa was with you when the police came. Who was treating Don for cancer? Was that treating doctor different from the doctors doing surgery? If so, perhaps the police need to talk to that doctor, check his records about the severity of the cancer? I agree with others, his cause of death was the cutting of an artery, the cancer was not. I am so sorry you had to be interviewed by police, I know that brought back memories and feelings you have been struggling to cope with. Huge hugs to you dear.
Heidi, happy to hear that your back is so much better after this epidural. It must have been a big storm to slow your return trip so much. Yes, take it easy, do not over tire that back. How is the groin muscle pain? I hope it too has improved.
Talked to daughter in Mississippi today. She told me about a recent storm they had. Lightning hit a tree close to their house, and the tree splintered, from top to the ground. No piece larger than your forearm after the strike. Lightning ran across the ground till it made contact with their poured concrete patio, where it dug a big hole. she said she had never been as frightened as when that struck. I am so glad it did not get into their house. they intend to rake up several piles of it, let it dry till cooler weather, then have bonfires at night.
We had our July 4th lunch today. BBQ sandwiches, and 'sides' furnished by the residents. I made and carried a 6 qt crock pot full of baked beans. There were other smaller dishes of beans. We either ran out or had just enough, all bean dishes were scraped clean
I ate some of the best potato salad made by my friend Brenda, there were many dishes of potato salad, each slightly different recipe from the others. Cole slaw, chips, mac and cheese, were some of the other dishes brought by residents. Plenty of food, lots of fun. Residents who did not prepare food made cash donations. They announced they have enough funds to cover a Labor Day lunch later this summer, yeah!
No cleaning lady tomorrow, she is on the beach, took this week for vacation. That means I will have to do at least one load of laundry before she comes next week. she would not mind if I had 3 loads needing washed, but house rules, a resident cannot use more than 2 washers or dryers at the same time.
Hugs to each of you, with extras.

The man who owns the bathroom company who renovated both of our bathrooms is coming today to sign off on the project. The shower screen went in yesterday so it's all done. Not counting that there's still painting to do. The walls are done but not the window and door trims.
As Col says to me, 'you don't have to remind me every 6 months, I haven't forgotten.' Sigh!

Love it Cyn. My eccentric cousin was a builder - he lived on a farm 2 hours drive from his wife and for over 15 years she didn't have any cupboard or bedroom doors in her house - she was such a lovely patient lady - better than I could ever be. He only finished the house when she decided to sell it.
Belated birthday wishes to Col - hope he is improving - albeit slowly.

Don wasn’t being treated for cancer. He was having a tumour of unknown composition removed. The specialist didn’t even say the word cancer.
We had a lovely day for a while. Our temp was over 20, feels like temp nearly 17. Warm for winter. It was very windy, but even the wind was warm. The feels like temp, 3 hours later, has dropped below 5!

Wonderful day (sarcasm font). My A/C is out and a water pipe inside the kitchen wall ruptured last night and flooded the upstairs. I was abed and heard a loud pop and the sound of rushing water. I had to shut off all the water to the house and empty the pipes into sinks as fast as I could to minimize damage. But it's really a mess. The plumber will be here in about an hour. He's going to have to cut a hole in the wall to get to the damage. I didn't even know that there was a water pipe behind that wall! I'm still cleaning up the water.
