HEIDI, If it rained as much here, I was unaware of it. I think we did get 1 to 2 inches of rain in the first hour. One of the residents said today that the wind was blowing so strong she thought it might blow our building away! She lives in the building that is perpendicular to mine, so guess the wind slipped by our building instead of straight into it. I did see lightning once and hear thunder, but only because I was up to the bathroom when it happened.

The temp dropped 20 degrees in 45 minuets as the storm passed. About that same time, I began to feel like I was beaten and left on the side of the road. Pain levels were horrible and I hurt everywhere. Never before have I seen this close a correlation of arrival of the cold front and start of my pain. This after yesterday being one of the best low pain days I had had in forever. Go figure. today I just feel bruised all over, and very drowsy. I think that is because I took pain medication as frequently as possible since midnight. Meds did get pain under control after about first 3 hours, though, I am happy to say.

Joy Report: she said thumb is very sore, but not painful, she is doing OK. the bulky dressing came off this morning, so she should be able to type at work tomorrow. she put off her shopping Saturday till this afternoon, said it was easier without the bulky bandages. Do I need a new keyboard? Is my space bar sticking? I keep finding words run together with no space between and I did hit space bar. That and the shift for caps is not always catching the capitals. Either that or my thumb is not hitting hard enough. So if I miss correcting any of those typos, that is what is happening.

I went downstairs for a scheduled entertainment, a church choir was scheduled to sing at 2 pm. I got there 10 till 2, they had come at 1 pm, sang 2 songs and left, some scheduling conflict. I think they were booked for two places same time, perhaps by two different people associated with the choir. Our activities director came in about 20 till 2, on her day off, to find they had come and gone. she was not very happy about that. I really do not blame her, I would have been unhappy about it too. Her daughter had come into town for Christmas, She brought her with her. I am sure they could have planned something more exciting than an unnecessary trip to EP for their Sunday afternoon.

I read last posts a page back, but could not tell you much about what I read other than Heidi's and Teresa's storm reports. Heidi, what a lucky 1/2 inch that was, that kept Gil's office above the water.

I am headed to bed early tonight. Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Holiday Greetings! Seems I better get to work on preparations. I may not get here for the next few days. So much to do and so little time.

Heidi, that must have been an extremely heavy rain for the water level to rise so much! I'm glad it didn't enter the building.

MizT, unfortunately scheduling snafus happen, especially at holiday time. What a shame you didn't get to hear a concert! It hardly seems worth it for the group to come and sing 2 songs. I guess they felt they were at least partially filling their commitment to perform. I think you have suspected the correlation between weather and pain before, but I guess the extremely quick temperature drop last night confirmed it. I'm glad you are feeling better today. I'm also glad to hear that Joy isn't feeling a lot of pain in her thumb.

Theresa, I hope the newer storm didn't leave a lot of snow for you. Seems you have enough for a white Christmas already. Hopefully it won't be too cold.

Heidi, you're smart to get so prepared for the next few days. It's never great to need to shop for food, medication, and necessaries between the holidays.

I think I'm missing comments I meant to make, but can't seem to find them rattling around in my brain. Apologies to those I've missed!

Time for bed here. Sleep well, Everyone! Positive thoughts, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing vibes and , Everyone!

I'm SO glad the cows aren't calving right now. There's deep mud everywhere and it's just barely above freezing. It really doesn't get much worse for livestock. Cold mud just saps the life out of them.

Christmas cards delivered, that Impossible Cocoanut pie made and sampled. You know, it is GOOD! That recipe is a keeper. Stupid oven managed to get bottom crust a bit brown, but other than that, the pie turned out delish. It makes a huge amount, more than I could put into my big 9 inch Pyrex pie dish. almost more than the small bowl of my mixer would hold. I will cut down on ingredients a bit before making it again, or see if it will make 2 pies in a smaller size. Guess what I had for breakfast today? Impossible cocoanut Pie hehehe. Well, the holidays only come once a year. My story anyway.

It is COLD today, high of 41 and wind chill is even lower. It will be below freezing for the lows the next 4 nights. I am glad I do not have to get out for anything.

Hugs to each of you, and wishing each and every one of you a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

It's now below freezing, so the mud should start to freeze. It won't get above freezing tomorrow, so that will help.

Supper is cooking: stuffed pork chops, baby peas, and cranberry relish. With zucchini bread on the side.

To all those down under....

So much I want to say but it's going to have to wait. Bob is the hardest house guest ever. He sits and does nothing while we try to get stuff done around him. I wonder when he is going home. He hasn't said.

The zucchini bread was a Christmas present from my friend Debbie, an old family recipe of her grandmother's.
I'm having problems sleeping, yet I feel exhausted. I think I know the problem. I tend to sleep better during daylight hours.
I'm gonna try to head back to bed, and let visions of sugarplums dance through my head.

Heidi, your sleeplessness is contagious. No known reason here, except I slept to much yesterday. I was falling asleep watching TV last night, went to bed and eyes opened. Oh well, I was comfy in the bed. Hope you get to sleep and can sleep in today.

Broni, the recipe is easy.
1 cup plain flour
◾1 cup caster sugar (works well with granulated sugar here in US)
◾1 cup shredded coconut
◾4 eggs
◾3 cups milk
◾2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Place all the ingredients in a bowl and mix with electric beaters until well combined. Pour into a greased pie dish and bake for 1 hour at 180 C degrees. Serve warm with cream. I think that is about 350 F for the topsiders. It is also very good from the fridge, minus the cream.

I think I will have pie again for breakfast hehehe.

Glad you asked Suzy who is Bob, I was wondering also.

I think I remember Suzy talking about Bob a few years ago. He is some kind of relative who has some ''problems''. I was talking about the mental and behavioral problems that (my former employee) Robert had, and she told us about Bob, who had similar problems.

Merry Christmas to the DUGs.

I hope you are having a wonderful time with family and friends.

Christmas Eve is a nice sunny cold day here in Alabama. I did go to sleep about dawn, so I am having a late start to my day. Only a couple of chores to do today, so I had time to sleep in today.

Nola, I do hope you get rid of that cold soonest. I know what you mean about having to go to work sick or well, especially if you are scheduled to work a weekend. We joked that if you died on your weekend to work, it was required they bring your dead body in to prove you are really dead.

I had a very good friend who worked same weekend as I did. On Friday night, she was in an automobile wreck, and had someone from ER phone me asking if I could come be with her, as she had no family near. She had emergency surgery on her shattered wrist that night. I stayed all night, but even though I called to staffing as soon as I heard of the accident, to report that M would not be working for some extended time, and that I would be staying overnight with her during her surgery, I was informed that I WOULD be working next morning, my regular shift, as we would be working short staffed without M . Now that was one hard shift to work!

Heidi, did you ever get any sleep?

Okay let's see how I go posting from my tablet.

Theresa, that is such a hard diagnosis. I've dealt with some aspergers kids in the classroom. No wonder you have felt abused by her! They can be incredibly rude. But at least you know now that it isn't about you or your relationship. Maybe that will help it not hurt so badly when she is horrible to you.

I survived Christmas, but my back hurts and I have a headache. We leave in one hour for Gil's appointment. They're removing the tissue around the area where they cut out the carcinoma to make sure they got it all. He's trying to act brave, but I can tell he's nervous. This experience is the first time in his life that he's had any surgical procedure done on him! Can you imagine? Nearly 65 years old (in 3 weeks) and he's never had ANY surgery? Never been in a hospital, except to visit others? Talk about a charmed life!!!!
