Hi, Everyone!
MizT, I'm glad you discovered the link between cortisone and difficulty sleeping. Now, if only you could get the benefits of the cortisone without the unwanted side effect! I'm glad you were able to sleep better! Sending healing vibes for Joy! Hopefully the flowers will benefit from your care and perk up again!
Heidi, I hope some rest and relaxation (and no heavy farm chores) help to improve the condition of your back! Feel better soon! You're right that Gil has led a charmed life! I hope he heals quickly.
Suzy, it sounds like you're enjoying your iPad! How clever to install your e-readers on it so none of your e-books will be 'lost.' I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better!
It's so good to read that Christmas blessings showered down on so many of you this year! May they stay with you throughout the coming year

We had a lovely day in Wollongong today. Spent the time with a couple of Ken's cousins.
We have only seen Laura on Christmas day. Could not get any ideas about the holidays from her dad.
I downloaded 'Elianne' by Judy Nunn and I am enjoying it very much. About the sugar industry around Bundaberg (where Nola lives). Ken and I both worked in the sugar industry.
Must go and watch the 'Edinburgh Tattoo' on TV.

Back and leg are feeling better today. I'm gonna do the next project with breaks for me. It'll make IH mad, but who cares. I need to back fill the one impassible gate, then put filter fabric down, with #3 rock, then dense grade on top. This'll use up all of the #3 rock we have. I think we ordered 25 tons.

Happy Monday here...It seems that the end of this year is fast approaching for all. You all know that I will be really glad to say goodbye to 2013, and am joined by lots of folks...but I also had many good things that happened in 2013 and am grateful for those...Just shows that no matter had good or bad things are...we will always have both in our lives...we simply dwell on one or the other more...so for the new year I will attempt to dwell on the good things more and be grateful that I can find the needed help and strength to deal with the other stuff that comes.
The holidays have been fairly quiet. Christmas was wonderful and today I have felt up to doing some work around the house...it helps me to know that strength and endurance do come back.
I read where Heidi and others, Mz.T, June and Julie quickly come to mind, just seem to get so much done that I hold you all in a bit of awe. done...Heidi does so often at odds with her body...but continues none the less. I don't seem to do as much as the others, but do pace myself as they have shown its good to do...but then I remove Julie from that because she reminds me more of Suzy and the Goodyear bunny that just keeps going and going. Some others also fall into the bunny picture for me....You all inspire me and help set my thinking in a good way.So glad I have this site to visit and get those reminders.
Now its time for me to to start my next project and during breaks get a bite to eat...so I will end this post with a wish that the new year dawns brightly for all of us and may we raise a glass in memory of those who have gone beyond the pain and problems of this world and watch over us with love.Happy New Year Everyone. Peace!

It hasn't gotten above freezing today, and it won't. At least the mud is under control. I'm taking it easy again today, since the back feels very fragile.
In 2 hours, we're meeting Don and Barb for italian food at a local restaurant. Barb's heading home tomorrow morning, so this is as close as we can get to celebrating New Year's Eve together.

We are having some excitement in the neighborhood. The barn across the street, belonging to our local cattle dealer, is in flames. I heard the initial explosion, ran out, and got to see the start of the fire. It took 15 minutes for the fire engines to get there, and there were repeated explosions and fireballs while everybody waited for them to arrive. By the time they did arrive, the entire structure had collapsed already. They're still fighting the flames right now. Fortunately, the wind is blowing away from all other buildings.

The explosions I heard were a backhoe and a tractor blowing up. There was also a lot of hay in that barn and it's still burning, even though the barn structure itself is long gone.

How awful for your neighbour, Heidi - do they know what caused the fire??
Well, I just got my cheque for membership on this site returned in the mail. Australia Post is so efficient, it was posted on 28th November. So I went to pay by Paypal - but no, it tells me that the email address I put in is 'already in use' - yep, it's mine and I WAS a member. So we are again at a stalemate. Grrrr!

Bugger bugger bugger! I hope insurance will cover the costs. Not a great way for your neighbours to start the new year. I hope there were no animals in the barn.
I love the topp by the way. I think I'm going to make a sign for my classrooms...
Why would making the next project be 'for you' make Gil mad? And if it does, tough bickies!
Mamacita, there have been many tough moments this year for all of us, but as you say, also many good things. Some qualify as both - my grandson for example!!
Julie, my new year wish for you is 'more time for Julie'. I know you enjoy everything/most of what you do, but there seems to be a tad too much of it. How about - shorter meetings, faster drives... does that do it?
Tonight we are going to the race course for new years. It's only 2.5km from our house so we can walk and have a drink, they will have great music, and fireworks at 9. We can technically see the fireworks from our house, but only the high ones. Then we'll come home, throw confetti everywhere and watch the fireworks on the harbour at midnight. Have I told you that we had the kids convinced for many years that they were staying up until midnight (they have even argued with us about it since), by pretending it was midnight in CA when the ball fell in New York.

I haven't heard yet what started the fire. Insurance should help rebuild the barn, but I don't think the backhoe and tractor can be replaced easily for the amount they were insured for. The tough part is all the lost feed. There's just so much available to buy since this year so many farmers leased out their hay fields to people growing corn and soybeans.
It's still burning nicely, by the way.

Greetings of the almost New Year down under! Greetings tomorrow night for many of the rest of us.
Got about 1/2 of my Christmas cards written and addressed today. Maybe I'll be able to finish tomorrow. Hubby and I also finally MADE the time to go to the pool and walk for 45 minutes. My sciatica didn't enjoy it. We'll see how it goes tomorrow. At least the water was warmer than it usually is in the winter, which was nice since the outside temperature was barely above 0* F.
I like your TOPP, Heidi!
Heidi, how unfortunate for your neighbors! That is NOT a good way to end the year - or begin a new one.
Suzy, we can't shorten the distance to the various places we go on a regular basis, but can hope for shorter meetings!
I read comments, but have mostly forgotten and am too tired to reread. My apologies to all!
Positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and
for each of you and your families! May you all be blessed with enough of whatever you need in the coming year! Good health and happiness in abundance for everyone! Happy New Year!

OK.... My leg is back to hurting, and I didn't do anything. I hope it feels better once I take my pain meds. They've worn off. But I have to take them with food, and have to wait 2 hours after taking my other meds before eating. Stupid rules. -grumble-

My first post in the new year comes with hugs, jugs ,healing wishes and good cheer for all who read these words.
May the beauty that surrounds us warm our hearts, may we open our minds to new beginnings as we close the doors on old problems that we can't control...May we live and enjoy the blessings the gift of life holds for us to the fullest. Happy 2014 everyone. Peace.

I wish your words and wishes could come true for me, Mamacita, but I've realized that the work I did on the tractor undid the epidural. I'm gonna have to schedule another one fairly soon, and REALLY put my foot down HARD on IH if he throws another tantrum about work needing to be done immediately. The only problem with insisting that he do it, is that he tends to break my equipment... I believe intentionally.... if I make him do something that he thinks is my responsibility. He thinks all farm and yard maintenance is my job. He believes that his only responsibility is his business, and anything else he does is doing me a favor. I've told him that I'll agree to that if he puts it clearly in writing, but he won't fall for it.

Ooooo... my last post was #2626. I like that, somehow.
The cows have now been fed (by me), and are happy. I'm gonna put my feet up and watch another ''Road to...'' movie. Yesterday I watched ''The Road To Morocco'', and had some good laughs.

I don't know if everyone here reads Easy, but Ian's wife Anne had a stroke (albeit a small one). Suzy, you might want to send a message to Ian with some encouragement. There IS life after a stroke. You're proof of that.

I'm getting worried about MizT. I tried calling both her home number and her cell phone, and I got recordings that neither number was in service. I'll try again later in case the problem was with my phone company.

I'm not going to get my work done today. I'm burning up with a fever. Maybe that's why the leg and back have been hurting more than they should? Body aches associated with a virus? Maybe?

I was going to say that too Theresa, I saw that MizT had posted on FB.
I believe that Scott is coming home today, should be there already.
I hope you start feeling better sooner rather than later, Heidi!
Heatwave conditions here today and for the next few days, some parts of Qld are expected to get 47-49C. We're close to the coast so are only at 33C - that's hot enough although last Sunday we were 1 1/2 hours SW of here in temps of 46C. Phew, I thought I'd never get cool again. Air-con here has been on since 9.30am.
