HI, did I miss everyone by trying to read first?
Up having coffee and pain pill, waiting for that to kick in, a bit uncomfy since I went almost 8 hours without. I slept for 7 hours last night, must not have been hurting tooo badly over night, it did not wake me.
boy, keeping up with all the post op requirements can keep one busy. have done my first sitz bath. Note to self: put kitties out tomorrow morning before doing the sitz! I had company and they could not understand why mommy would not come open the magic wall to let them out. Had my fiber and my softener pill for morning, any more and I shall shosh and rattle when I walk!
second cup of cofee , Kona this morning, as I was advised to have some caffien to keep the spinal headache at bay. works too, and it does act as a bit of a boost for the pain meds. That is my sticky story!

GAIL, thank you for passing on the message to rolanda, mighty nice of you dear! Good to hear from her, sorry she is having such a dreadful time
. Lunch out, maybe next week I might try such, if hubby is driving.
I am hoping to get him too take me to library today, or might phone them and let librairian pick me a book. Cannot think of one I might want to read at the moment.
any suggestions? I read all over the spectrum, from tom clancy to historical novels from interesting periods, to a good mystery, not into Si Fi too much, most any of the best sellers, LOVE a long trilogy or such, get excitedat the thought of multiple books of 1000 plus pages each, nice, I want to escape into the era and be shocked when I put down the book and find myself back in the present hehehe
OK, today's topic of discussion: What book would you pick for tricia if you were going to the library for me??

Hello Tricia! I'm afraid I'm too simple minded for the long trilogies. I'm reading a delightful story of friendship titled "Truth & Beauty" by Ann Pachett right now - not too far into it, but enjoying her style. One of am favorite reads this past couple of years was "Eat, Pray, Love" - it's quite popular, so you hav probably alreday read that one. Some others I loved: "Water for Elephants", "The Center of Everything" and "The Piano Tuner"

i say go for a classic. my favorite, "a tree grows in brooklyn." or revisit being a kid and go for "where the red fern grows." if you want a great story with some smut (pages turn easily if you don't appreciate the smut) "outlander" is a fantastic read. hmmm. maybe i should go read a good book instead of the last few pages!

Tricia...Just finished 'The Atonment'...Soooo much better than the movie because it covered the wole, not as movies must, part of the story line.....I enjoyed it a lot. As you know...I too enjoy trilogies...and am ready forsomethingnew...just started Michael Crichton's 'Next'....at this point I'm not too sure I like it,but its got something compelling enough to have me continue on for a bit...its about genetics...I did like his Jurassic Park so I will keep reading. VVici, I will have to check out some of those books too...thanks for the list.
Good Morning to all...please forgive my delay in addressing you, but had to respond to Miz T before I forgot what I wanted to say...must start walking!

i also need to defend my poor math challenged son. he is an honors english student and has A's in all his other classes. he tries in calc. but just has a hard time with math. he is a great kid. he works hard at his sports, has a 10 hr. a week job and helps out tons at home. he and my 14yr old do tend the kids whenever i run errands or am taking someone to piano, soccer, dr. appts., etc. the ONLY reason i am not completely batty by now is because the worst thing that i have to put up with from my kids is them being slobs at times and being a wee bit sassy. that i can handle. mostly i get down because i hate being the disciplinarian all the time and because i just miss my hubby. tomorrow he comes home, and i will know if he will start to be home every thurs.-sun. well, that is my life story! sorry a bit long here. who needs a book mizt. just read my epistle!

Mariana, I woulld be down also if I had 5 kids and an absent hubby, not fair! I do hope he gets to start the 4 days work and 3 days home schedule and soon! It is a total commitment to raise 5 children. My Mom had 4, and I do not know how she handles it, dad was home every afternoon, for whatever help that was. well, he was disiplinarian, Mom just said, "wait till your father gets home" hehehe I only had 2, and those seperated by 10 years, so more like having 2 only children in many ways, and that was all I could handle.
Daughter #1 has 4 and not sure how she does/did it either, all but the baby have been in soccer (current soccer son is on multiple teams plus training, whatever that is) and other sports.

Thanks for the book suggestions, hubby said he would go to library when he goes to town later today. Maybe this list will give the librarian some idea of something to choose for me. We have a new library, but selection of books seems small to me. I keep running into books I have read, some more than once.

MizT, if you want real escapism (and not heavy reading), I enjoy the Dr. Syn books by Russell Thorndike. (the Disney movie "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh" was based on them, but the books are infinitely better) As I said, not heavy reading, but LOTS of fun. They're based in the period between the Revolutionary War and the French Revolution.

MizT, I'm reading the 'Tomorrow When the War Began' series. The first book was required reading for Ebob and she liked it so much she just kept reading. I'm on the 5th book so far. Quick reading as they are written for teenagers, but I'm really enjoying them. Bit brutal at times as they are about a war, but also a lot of stuff about how the characters think and feel. Set in rural Oz, Oz Author, so don't know if you'd be able to find them in the US. John Marsden....

I remember the first weeks after my ds came home - no time for anything but the basics! I even remember showering with d1 sitting in car seat outside the open shower door - the only way I could fit a shower in without her screaming for me the whole time (colic!)

I loved all of your book suggestions - cool idea, MzT - it's given me some to look into for future book clubs. The book I ordered for my book club (I'm hosting in October) is "The Book of Bright Ideas"...don't know anything about it except that it sounded fun and light when I was cruising Amazon for a book.

Boy, I gotta confess here to you gals (this is just between us, right????) hehehe
While I was painting all day my mind kept wandering off to Rayray and that picture.
Hey - I have a handsome, funny and wonderful husband...who was out there painting in the other rooms! Oh well, guess I was just entertaining myself!
OK - off to fling food, as you all say...left-overs tonight.

Well I've read the news, done the puzzles, posted a bit.... now it's time to vote, finish putting together pressies for the two parties today (Ally is going to a bowling party for a class friend at 1, finishing off at her home at 5; then she is going to a, wait for it... bowling party for a netball friend at 6!! This after bowling in the league last night - there just aren't many places for parties here I guess) and decide whether I'm going to walk today or tomorrow..

Hello, lovely SA5 people - I'm missing you already because I haven't had a chance to get near here for 2 days and I won't today. Just had to come on to say Bye to all, look after yourselves while I've gome and I've left greetings for every occasion on todays Easy (p4).
Miz T and Viv - keep looking after yourselves, I want to both to be better and in top form when I get back.
Bye all - I'll be back after 28/9. BTW - spoke to Albany Anne last night - she's lovely!

This is going to be a quieter 3 weeks without you, CynB Lady of Leasure!

NOTICE: A carolelove from Florence has joined, has a page, and no one has welcomed her. There's a Florence 45 miles below me -- among the many Florences in the world -- and I would really like it if another member lived near by. Nonetheless, she needs welcoming. Would y'all mind trotting out your smilies and paying her a visit? Thanks.
