Welcome to my place. I hope you can stop and enjoy some refreshments. I've set out some artichoke and onion dips and chips, fresh fruit and fresh veggies trays and, of course, some of Mike's wines (bluberry, peach, strawberry and some wild blackberry wine). Thank you Mamacita for your Jambalya (mmmmm delicious), some of your birthday cake and the spring flowers are beautiful. Hope everyone enjoys and will return again soon as I will be decorating this weekend when SaraLyn can help me figure out how.

We have good friends in Templeton, so have visited the Paso Robles area several times. Nice, though it gets a bit hot in the summer. I live on 101 about an hour and a half drive north of Santa Rosa. Where are you in Washington?

Hello LynnDee - thanks for returning my visit.
No, I'm not a professional photographer, I just take photos for my pleasure and for anyone else who likes to see them. I've always had a camera since a child and love taking photos, but these days with a digital camera you don't have to keep paying out to get them processed, so I take more than ever.
When I go overseas on holiday I usually take 2 or 3 cameras with me. I'm still trying to learn about my digital camera because it's too advanced for me.
Cheers

Hi Lyndee! I've been wracking my brain trying to remember if it's you who has a son or daughter who was NROTC & who just got married a few months ago? And the SIL (I think?) is or was stationed in SC, Charleston maybe? Could you refresh my memory? And who is SaraLyn? Hope she can help you post some Flickr pictures on your page soon. Please stop by my page for a chat sometime. I'd like to get to know you.

Hi Lynndee. Thanks for the peach wine and banana nut bread... very yummy. I am pleased that you like my photos. The one with the tree framing the lighthouse was just something I noticed while driving around. I was a bit disappointed in the photo. I am still going through photos to find the ones I would like to put up.

Lyndee, it is my instinct as a former Navy wife of 23 years to perk up at the mention of anyone connected to the Navy. There are quite a few on the site! It will be an extra challenge for your daughter & SIL to BOTH maintain careers in the Navy. I wish the best for them. Will SaraLyn be going off to college somewhere? Will that make you an empty-nester? Ebony is a lab mix (we don't what the mix is with!) we adopted at a big Pet Adoption Expo in Tampa. Do you have any pets?

Kathy, Tasha and Jeff have had almost 1 yr. testing the waters of dual Navy careers, kind of anyway. He is a wonderful young gentleman and His dad was a career Navy man so he is aware of what he is getting into. He is an officer training to be in charge of all the nuclear warfare on a fast attack nuclear submarine so he can only be out to sea for 3 months at a time before they haveto come in for manditory dockside maintenance which will help a little.
Also, he has been on the East coast while Tasha is in Seattle, WA. and only had 4 short visits together and 1 1/2 weeks for their wedding this last year. She has already requested and received a change of assignment to Charleston so they will be together until Oct. when the next flight school starts. Also, Jeff already knows that he will go to Georgia (instead of Virginia) to keep them closer together. They will have to drive about 1 hour to meet in the middle. After she is done with her training, they will put in requests to be transfered to San Diego, Calif. The Navy works to keep married couples together when possible so they should get that.....Anyway, that's what they hope. I will pray that all does work out for them both as newly weds and as a Navy couple.

LynnDee. I had my gall bladder removed quite a few years back and had the keyhole surgery. I was unlucky in that my gall bladder was really badly infected. It was on the verge of turning gangreen (not sure of the spelling) and I nearly died. I had been going back and forth to my doctor for 10 years complaining about the pain in my back but he just never believed that it was due to my gall bladder. I know Dad will be fine and he will be happy to have it fixed.

LynnDee, I was diagnosed by another doctor. I was very sick one weekend and ended up going to a clinic. The doctor there took on look at me and told me I had a bad gall bladder. I had to go back to my doctor and see him. I had been having very high temperatures and when I saw him my temp was normal. He said if it rose again to ring the hospital and go straight in. Which happened about an hour after I left his surgery. I was in for a week before the op. They were trying to clear the infection but in the end they couldn't wait any longer. I was also in for just over a week after the op. I was very very lucky. I have been lucky several times. I also found I had cancer about 6 1/2 years ago and so far so good. You sure learn to appreciate what you have. I am glad your hubby is fine.

Hi again LynnDee. Thanks for taking the time to tell me about your family. It sounds like Tasha & Jeff have done some careful planning, & I hope the Navy will cooperate by giving them the duty stations they want. The Navy was very good to Rob & paid for him to complete both his Bachelor's & Master's degrees. He entered the Navy as an enlisted man & came out 23 years later as full commander. He served on both surface ships & FBM submarines as a weapons officer at first & later as a supply officer & fuels officer. We moved 17 times in 23 years, & our three daughters were born in three different states in 1968, 1971, & 1980. There were many separations, but also lots of wonderful experiences & friends along the way. Often he did not get the duty stations he requested. For example, we owned a house in VA & wanted to go back to it to retire there. He put in for ANY of the bases in the Norfolk/Va. Beach area (there are 5 or more) as his last duty station, but the Navy sent him to CENTCOM at MacDill AFB in Tampa instead!! We bought our house in Valrico & at the end of his tour here in 1990, we just decided to stay put & sell the house in VA. I couldn't wait to be able to STAY somewhere & not have to move anymore, but I discovered that there was still some 'gypsy' left in me, so we enjoy traveling to other countries & hope to see lots more of the world now that he's completely retired from his post-Navy jobs, too. I think your plan for SaraLyn & her Dad to work together is a very good idea. Sounds like a perfect arrangement for both of them. It's also nice that you'll continue to enjoy your daughter's company & not have to deal with the 'empty nest' syndrome! In another blurb someday I'll tell you more about our girls. I don't want to make this too long & too boring!

Lyndee - if you click Update Details`after you are logged in, you should see a button for Manage Avatars. If you have a message saying you have no avatars pending, that means the one you submitted was accaepted. When you press Manage Avatars, you should see your avatars, with columns for Select or Delete. You click the one you want to select, then press Submit.

For Flickr. You need to open a Flickr accaount which you do by going to Flickr.com and following their prompts. You upload your photos from where they are stored in your computer. Then, once you've done that - on your Update Details page you put in the URL of your Flickr photo as the one you want to put on your page.

I think I have got that all right, remembering from the help I got when setting up my page, but I will go back and check on my page and cut and paste any help I find that others sent me.

Cheers!!

LynDee, I have avatars and smilies still pending since early our Friday, I guess Gath is just off for the weekend. I expect to see mine sometime Monday site time, which is overnight here.

To add to what good directions CP gave you, one thing you really need to know is where your photos are stored on your computer. You get a browse box on flickr, and you have to navigate your files to find the photo you want. My husband made me a nice file folder and I keep all my photos and graphics for avatars in one place. Helps me find things.

We all had to learn this stuff and usually someone who learned from someone else came to my rescue. So you are not technically challenged, you just have not taken that class yet! If all else fails, bribe a teenager to come help. I am sure they have uploaded photos before :>)

LynnDee, I had a squamous cell carcinoma which is often on the skin but mine started on the inside of my nose. I had surgery and followed up with radiation. I am very lucky to still be here. I was given approx six months if I didn't have the surgery. Hard decision but I am here and that is the main thing.
The wedding sounds wonderful and the little man must have looked so cool in his little tux. I would love to see a photo. Don't worry it took me a while to figure out how to do the photo thing.

LynnDee, I just went to the flickr site on my other computer to see what it looks like to somebody that hasn't signed up. At http://www.flickr.com/ (the title page), there is a red button called 'Sign up!' Click on it and you will be asked to sign into your Yahoo account or start a new one. I had to start a new one and was given a Yahoo email address which I have never used. After the sign in procedure, I immediately went to Upload. You can upload 6 pictures at a time. There are 6 blanks for picture addresses with a Browse button by each. When you click the browse button it should take you to your picture folder on your computer. You find a picture you want to upload, double click on it, and it's address appears in the blank. After you've chosen the pictures you want, you click upload ... and wait. If this isn't helpful, let me know and I'll try again.

About your Avatar pictures, I use http://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/ When you go there, there's a box labled Create Avatar. Step 1 is to choose a photo. There's an address box and a Browse button just like flickr. Choose your photo the same way. Step 2, set your Avatar size to 50, and Step 3, click the Resize button ... and wait. You should get 3 choices, centered top/left, center, or bottom/right. Pick the one you want and click on Download this picture now and choose Save. You can rename it if you want or switch which folder you save it to. Then in Update Details on the Sudoku site, when you go to Add Avatar, you will have to browse to your saved avatar to submit it. Again, let me know if this isn't helpful.

Hi Lyndee! Again I was thinking of you today as I believe you said Friday was the day for the commissioning of Tasha followed by the graduation of SaraLyn. Congratulations to both of them & to you & their Dad. Sounds like you've done a great job of parenting your girls. When is your husband's gall bladder surgery? Hope that goes well. I'll be away next week so probably will miss out on a lot of the goings on.

Hello Lyndee - no, she lives about 1,200kms away. I've just been up there for a few days when it was her sister Jaimee's sixth birthday. They are only 11months apart. I went to one of Hayley's birthday parties about 3 years ago but had been overseas for the past two years when it was Jaimee's, so managed it this year.
