Sacky. Glad to have you with us. The site needs some new life. Please make a post on Easy so we can get to know you. It's a little scary the first time, but then it gets easier. Just leap on in any time!

G'day Sacky - thanks for visiting my page. I found it hard years ago when the site first started and there were a group of regulars so I didn't like to comment, but you get used to the different people so just join in anytime.
You'll notice that the different time zones brings different people on and the northern countries are naturally on while we're mostly asleep. The Aussies are usually on during our evenings.
Just join in with anyone.
Cheers,
Anne

Hello Sacky, and a belated welcome to your own page.
I'll leave you my traditional page warming gift, a double chocolate fudge beavertail pastry from Ottawa. Enjoy, and have fun on the site!

It certainly was! There's no way you could do otherwise in Tassie at this time of the year.

I realised that, that's why I asked. We have early morning Icebergers here in Albany but it wouldn't be quite as cold as down your way.

I could never be an iceberger! Warm and comfortable undercover for me! Don't know the sea temps at the moment but our air temps are at about 13 max over the last few weeks.
Do you swim?

Hi Sacky,
This is the first time I have come across your site,
thanks to your photo on easy today, on which I have posted my comment. Like you, i am a fairly new sudokuholic, but I enjoy a couple of games each day.
My sister and I spent a couple of weeks touring Tassie some years ago.
We both loved it. See you around the posts.
Cheers Youkidme

Great to back from you. Please let me know when you
plan to come over. We must meet up.
My travelling days are a bit limited now, although I spent 2 years on a working holiday way back in the sixties. I doubt that one could visit some of the places I managed to get to such as Afghanistan.
In those days, our cameras were mainly fairly heavy SLRs, and I tended to take slides. I have a big job ahead to transfer them all across to the computer - one day !!!

Hello Sacky - I guess people must have eased up posting photos to 'easy' due to the previous long waits for their photos to show up.
When were you in Paris? I was there in 2001.
Cheers,
Anne

Beautiful daffodils, Sacky!!
Spent a bit of time in Launceston back in the early 90s. 2 sessions of 3 or 4 days in May'93 showing a Doctor how to use his new ultrasound machine. The first time after I'd finished I caught the bus to Bagdad & had a couple of days with a friend before I flew back to Sydney from Hobart. The second time my husband came with me for a long weekend - Friday to Sunday! We hired a car & had a quick tour which started at Cataract Gorge (which I had walked to when I was there the first time) then down to Bagdad again for a night, Next day we went over to Strahan and back to Launceston! He dropped me at work Monday morning then flew back to Sydney to go to work himself!!

Hey Sacky, when you get to come to up this way & you get to Sydney let me know - we could show you the Hawkesbury River!!! Although, I hope it won't be when we're away - which will happen after my hubby retires! (Although we do have a pre-retirement trip next year for a wedding in Scotland!)

Hi Sacky. I loved your duckling photos. My husband & I visited Tasmania in April of 2005. I remember seeing my first black swan on a little pond near our B&B in Swansea. We flew into Hobart, rented a car, & for 5 days drove to many different places on our way up to Launceston. We loved Tasmania!

Sacky, I appreciate all you have told me about shelducks & quolls. Learning new things is one of my favorite parts of Sudoku. When I googled quolls I also found out that they are marsupials, & it was Captain Cook who first recorded the name quoll as the Aboriginal name for 'tiger cat'.

Sacky, was it YOUR dog who almost got to the ducklings? Glad they are still surviving. Are mom & dad still protecting them or are they more on their own now?

Great photos, Sacky!
When we first moved to this house in suburban Sydney (1996) we had lots of magpies, currawongs, noisy miners.... but no non native birds. In the morning the all the birds would sing & then again in the evening - I used to call them the 'Dawn Chorus' & 'Even Song' - it was so beautiful, all these songsters singing in my yard!! After a year or so, I kept finding feathers on the ground & there wasn't the same amount of singing. One day I discovered why - a neighbour's cat was hiding under a very large camellia & killing the birds!! I can still here the birds singing bur it's a long way away!!

Magpies singly have a lovely call, a group & it's like going to the opera!! Add in the currawongs & butcherbirds & you're almost in heaven!!

I have a longgggg time with cat aversion! When I was 5 (1950s) Dad bought some fish for us. We (the 4 kids) held them in a plastic bag all the way from Victor Harbour to the RAAF base at Mallala (SA). Dad built a pond for them..... A neighbour's cat... That was the end of the fish pond!
Next serious cat problem was in Toowoomba, Qld (1960s) - my brother (maybe 8 at the time) had homing pigeons. Dad built a special bird house for them with a way in for the pigeons, but no way out... a cat got in when no one was at home & it (the cat) couldn't get out......
My brother has never run over a cat but he has thought seriously about it!!!!
There were a few other episodes!!
