Hi Wombat. Yes, nal are my initials. My name is Nora Arias Loftis When I first started playing here, some fifteen years ago, I was leery of who I might encounter. I was afraid not everyone was going to be as crazy as I am. Well, as the song goes, I Am 'Still Crazy After All These Years' and I have met such an amazing group of individuals. I was particularly interested to here of your interest in nature photography, not that I have any skills in that area, but my wife and I are keen bird watchers. Hugs from Canberra.

Oh birdwatchers! Wonderful!! You and your wife will know how happy I was to find an unusual visitor in my yard. Yesterday, as I filled the bird feeders, I spotted a Spot-breasted Oriole. This morning I was able to take a photo. It's only the second time I see one and I am thrilled! Are you on FB? Instagram? I post a lot of my photos there, most are of birds. Hugs to both from Miami

Hi Nora, How wonderful that you have been visited by a bird that you have rarely seen. We have orioles in Australia, but it may be that they are probably unrelated to your oriloles, Orioles are fairly rare in our area which is quite urbanised, but we had 200 acres of bush and we often saw them out there, particularly the green one. We did the grey nomads tour of Australia some years ago and got to see a wide variety of birds new to us. I'm not a great user of FB or Instagram, but I'll certainly have a look for your photos. My wife, Rhonda was just observing that we have seldom seen any of the small birds (Superb blue wren, white browed scrub wren, and silver eyes that normally visit us once or twice a day and keep our aphids under control, so all the roses are suffering. All the best and hope you have many more surprise visitors of the feathered kind. Jim.

Thanks for the kind words Wombat. My current area of interest is the night sky and I've been busy putting together a set-up to do long exposures by tracking the subject.
