Hi David, pleased to hear the foal is doing well and that the mare is a good mum.

Thanks for your message, David. I learned about David Balfour's long battle with pancreatic cancer while Jane & I were staying with June & Ken in Sydney last year. Ken mentioned that there was an Aussie on my home town baseball team, the Tampa Bay Rays. His name is Grant Balfour, & he is a pretty good relief pitcher for the Rays. Ken knew both David & son Grant from their days in baseball. Then in Feb. 2015, I read in our local newspaper that they were going to induct Grant into the Baseball Australia's Hall of Fame so that his dad would still be alive to see him receive the award. Since the ceremony was to take place during the spring training season of the Rays, Grant was not planning to go back (he & his family had just visited in Dec.) to Australia for that. His dad was going to accept the award for him. However, as it turned out, David was so ill he could not attend, so Grant's mother represented him at the ceremony. Both Ken & June were at that ceremony on Feb. 28. At least David did hang on to life long enough to see that happen. I'm sure it made him very proud & happy.

It's wonderful that you & Janet will have not just one, but TWO grandsons this year!! Bet those two cousins, being so close in age, will grow up to be very good buddies! We are expecting our 9th grandchild in July. Our youngest daughter, who gave birth to Chase in April,2013, will have a baby girl in July. Since we now have 6 grandsons, I am very happy that this baby will be a girl!! Grandchildren are definitely the best thing about growing old! I hope you will announce the births of your grandsons on Sudoku and/or Facebook. Please tell Janet I said hi.
