Hi Debby! Thanks for stopping by & bringing me that delicious rhubarb pie! Pies are one thing I never developed a talent for. I just couldn't master making a good crust. I have a feeling you are a very good cook. Is rhubarb in season now? My mother used to cook it up with lots of sugar & tell us it was 'spring tonic'. (this smilie sent to me by Nancy!)went to her first puppy class today. There were 9 in the class everything from a teeny tiny mini-pincher to a big golden retriever. Today was mostly get acquainted & getting used to using a clicker to reward good behavior. Think the owners will have as much to learn as the pups! Rob & I will alternate working with her, but we can both go to the classes. I've also been trying to get Ebony used to our swimming pool. She can doggie paddle pretty well, but doesn't really like getting in. We're taking it slow. What's new in Mich.? Hope all your family is doing well.

Hi Deb...well not a tropical paradise...lol
I'm not far from the ocean as Brisbane is on the coast but there are places that are best to go swimming etc. Have you heard of the Gold Coast? Surfers Paradise? maybe not....North of Brisbane is the Sunshine Coast and south of Brisbane is the Gold Coast. I am closer to the Gold Coast and Nicole lives on the Gold Coast right near the surf.
I'm like you...I am hopeless at geography and being one who lives 'down under' everybody else lives 'up there somewhere'....lol

Hi, Debby! Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to your note. We're getting ready for a little trip to Neptune Beach, FL (compliments of the members of my tennis league - I don't get paid for running the league, but every once in awhile, everybody chips in to give me a little mini-vacation)! Anyway, I have not read 'The True Believer', but I have heard of it. As soon as I get a chance, I will get hold of a copy and read it. Thanks for the recommendation!

Hi, again! I just read Deb's note regarding rhubarb pie. I LOVE rhubarb! When we lived in PA, we had a rhubarb patch that produced from May through November, so we lived on rhubarb pie, crisps, preserves, etc. I will be posting a yummy recipe on the recipe page later today for a rhubarb pie that has an interesting 'press-in' crust.

Debby, sounds like your family is in the habit of planning well for everything you do. Glad Jenny has her driver's license, new job, & plans for comm. college. She can get lower tuition & better grades there & then transfer to a four year school later. Also, you & your husband are smart to be very sure you like VA well enough to move there permanently. Too many people retire somewhere only to find out later they don't like it as much as they thought they would!

Hi, Debby! I had never heard that about rhubarb! But the first frost basically killed the plants anyway, so I guess we were safe. Our first frosts usually occurred in early November. I remember harvesting what was left of the rhubarb as soon as we got a freeze warning so that I could cut it up and freeze it.

Hey Debby, The Recipe has been posted. I hope you enjoy it! The last time I made it, I used half rhubarb and half strawberries, and I'm thinking of making it with blueberries to take to a 'Moonlight Madness' party we're going to next Saturday.

Hi Deb....Well, you wont believe this but I dont think I have an atlas anywhere here so will have to google it.

I'm still off work. Can't stop the coughing and so back to the Dr today. Just about finished my second lot of antibiotics. I'm quite down at the moment, missing Rick terribly and I guess not working and feeling not well isn't helping at all. The days are dragging. We are hoping he will be back not next weekend but the weekend after. I'm not letting him out of my sight for ages after that....lol...

Hi Debby, the picture of the church on Hard the other day is where I work in the mornings! It was built in 1873, glad you like it.

Graduation is over and she is registered at college.

Debby - I'm losing it! I found this message I wrote to you posted on my OWN page - DUH! So here it is copied & pasted for you now. Sorry about that!

Debby - I had to pull out a map of Michigan to refresh my memory on where Pontiac is! Rob's brother lives in Chelsea & has a sailboat he keeps at a marina in Whitehall. I also have a cousin who lives in Lansing. That's where we went to the graduation party. Next time we go to Michigan I'll let you know. Did you see Jane's recipe for rhubarb pie with the ''press in'' crust on the recipe page? I think I might even be able to handle that one. I like that it's made with canola oil, too.

Debby, hope you're having a good day! Here are some flowers to brighten it! I missed how everything turned out with your mom in the winter. Just trying to figure out the next step with my mom. It was a difficult winter and my brother who is near her is moving in July. If you ever want to chat, stop by the SA2 page(under clips). Cheers!

Hey Debby - Yes, Emily is the baby. We have a son who is 22 and is going back to school to get his paramedic certification. So we will have 2 kids in college this fall! Emily will be the farthest away at about 4 1/2 hours north west.

Congrats on getting 5 kids raised!

The church really is very pretty, stained glass windows all the way around the church, beautiful on a sunny day. If you could see through the bell tower, you would see me hard at work!

Hi Deb....well the Dr has given me until Friday off. Go back to work on Tuesday which is good I need the money!! He also advised (as I am so depressed, lonely and missing Rick so much) to fly to Mackay and spend a couple of days with Rick. I am a very fearful flyer and will need medication to calm the nerves but I leave here in 2 hours for the hour and half flight (I know not long). I am sooo nervous but also excited about it all. The things we do for love

Hi Deb. I am remiss in visiting your page, but I'm glad I did today. Wonderful photos of your family and the musical instruments. I assume you are a bit of a collector (instruments that is, or maybe family too?). Plans for the summer? Staying south of the border? Cheers!

Hi Deb...Well, it's 10-30pm on Monday night and I have just arrived back from Mackay after seeing Rick. It was wonderful!!! I am off to work tomorrow. Hopefully Rick will be back sometime in the middle of next week. I noticed while I was away that a recent pic of Kiarah came up on the parent's page on Saturday 30th June.

Hi, Debby! Where in Lake Michigan did you spend your beach day? My brother lives just outside South Haven, but I have yet to visit him there! My family lived in the Chicago area, so I got used to the chilly Lake Michigan water. In fact, the water here gets too warm for my taste by mid-July, so then we head down to Fernandina Beach where the water is deeper and, thus, cooler. One good thing about our beach on St. Simons is that there is never any undertow to speak of. I guess because of the sandbars off shore. So we don't have to worry about ripcurrents like we do at other beaches.

Debby, I think your photos are just fine. If you want to improve your photography you can get plenty of help from books and magazines on the subject. Don't worry too much about the deep technical aspects because most modern digital cameras will take care of that side of it for you. The only time you need to know a bit more is when you are taking photos in difficult circumstances. Keep your eyes open for the unusual and pause for a second to ask yourself how you can improve your photo - better background, different lighting or different angle. And then go for it. I hope this helps.
The bird is an Australian Rainbow Lorikeet - one of the many spectacular members of the parrot family native to this country.

Debby, thank you for your kind thoughts. I know this must sound confusing but it is my son (the elder) who leaves for Germany next week, not me. His will be only a short trip to help his girlfriend settle in. Anne and I will be visiting Germany later in the year on our way back from her mother's funeral in Wales. Now we get to the confusing bit - our younger son (the one who marries on Friday) has been offered a job in Germany and he leaves in a couple of weeks. Our visit to Germany will be to see him.
If you can figure all that out, please let me know because I am a bit confused.
As for missing me, I am touched and a bit embarrassed that you think so highly of me. I'll be hanging around for a couple of months yet, it was just that the next few days will be chaotic and I thought I should warn my friends. Thank you for your concern.

Hi Deb....Yes, Rick arrived home last Saturday. He surprised me by getting home late on Saturday night when I expecting him on Sunday afternoon. Everything is great and back to normal.
I haven't been keeping up with the posts of late. Did Rocko (Nal's rottweiler) pass away. I heard he had gone to the vet for something simple and ended up with a broken leg and he was going to need an operation. If he did, how sad and unexpected.
