Theresa, my sister had to do same as others suggested with her daughter. Told her she would be on the bus no matter her state of readiness. She went one cold day barefoot and without a jacket. Nope, she did not get sick and she got better about being ready after that. But you cannot tell them you are going to do it unless you really will, and every time. consistency is what matters.

Ever hit "enter" and they sit here wondering why the message did not post? FB friends know what I mean, I just did hehehe.

A miracle just happened!!! Hollie has decided to fight. She just stood up on her own, and stayed up for nearly a minute!! I have her swallowing water now, too. At this rate, i might get some food in her tonight. She may make it after all.

I had to tell someone who was complaining about another parent sending her kid to school in his PJs that I thought it was good parenting and recommended by many childcare experts! She and another gossiper were criticising everything about this woman!!

Woo Hoo - way to go Hollie!!
I agree - send them in their PJ's or barefoot, carry out the threat!
Vicki - Emily was fine the other night and has been since the seizure the previous week. She may not have another one for months or more.

Just had a long visit from Dana and her bf. He's nice, a bit old fashioned which is good.

On the subject of kids taking too long to get ready. Yesterday I yelled at Alie for 15 minutes to get her out of the door because she was going to be late to school again. In the car I continued to rant - how vain are you that it takes an hour an a half to make yourself beautiful for school???? I then chose to drive well within the speed limit and took the direct route instead of the little detours that shave time off the trip by avoiding slow lights etc. She was late. She got ready on time today!

Heidi, what great news about Hollie. SA vibes even work for dogs.
Suzy, glad you had a nice chat with Dana. Hope things work out between you.

I have been lucky. Both my boys get ready for school, with just a little prompting.

Nite, Nite all. See you tomorrow.

And now...
The Importance of Walking!!

Walking can add minutes to your life.
This enables you at 85 years old
to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing
home at $7000 per month.

I like long walks,
especially when they are taken
by people who annoy me..

The only reason I would take up walking
is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I have to walk early in the morning,
before my brain figures out what I'm doing..

Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise',
I wash my mouth out with chocolate, or wine.

The advantage of exercising every day
is so when you die, they'll say,
'Well, she looks good doesn't she.'

If you are going to try cross-country skiing,
start with a small country..

I know I got a lot of exercise
the last few years,......
just getting over the hill.

We all get heavier as we get older,
because there's a lot more information in our heads.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

AND

Every time I start thinking too much
about how I look,
I just find a Happy Hour
and by the time I leave,
I look just fine.

Hello everyone!

Heidi, I'm so glad to hear that Hollie is putting up a fight!

Had a lovely time with my Sudoku friends yesterday - fish-and-chips and lots of chit-chat, plus I have a tidy house! (whoo-hoo!) Even baked Rob some ginger biscuits for the first time in ages. I asked for his critique and he said they weren't quite as good as they used to be, but keep practising ... !

June, still sending hugs - wish we could do more ...

Good Evening, Everyone! Still reading back on page 107, so my news is out of date! I think of all of you every day and send my love , prayers, positive thoughts and {{{{{HUGS}}}}}!

Hoping all who have been unwell or injured are improved. Especially thinking of June and June's friend and all they have to deal with! Hopefully the draining of fluid from around the lungs helped ease discomfort!

Congratulations to those who are doing well or outstanding: Maddie, Mitchell, Dylan, Vicki's son and Aki!

Have read many well-stated comments and well-wishes, to which I say, "Ditto!"

Just thought I'd mention that driving more than 4 hours for hair cuts may sound a bit silly, but my sister is an excellent hairdresser. (She started cutting my hair in high school.) Plus, it gives us a chance to see her and her hubby (and sometimes her sons) every 6 or 8 weeks or so. Because my family is rather spread out, I haven't seen my other sister or any of my brothers for months.

Evening All...It's almost morning but I've made it by the skin of my teeth... To all of the 'likes' above, I'm smh....lol!
June, Hope things move for your friend and a great time to the family being together for the next few days.
Theresa...I agree that 'tough love', while tough, usually works if it's consistently applied by all.
I always told mine that they could do what they wanted once they were no longer living and accepting my support, food,etc...now I smile when I see them repeating things I did with their kids.
Heidi...Holly has been both a blessing and has been blessed in return..I wish her peace and a pain free transition...but not just yet, if she wants to keep going...you will know and make the best decision for her.
Glad the Aussie lunch meet was fun...but we all knew that it would be...
MzT...I took your advice and used the Benadryl as I went to bed...and slept well, but was still dopey hours after getting up at 9:30 in the morning.Just had two episodes of hives today and they didn't last long. I wish I could do it again tonight, but I will be baby sitting Angelique all day and need to be alert and awake too early.
Rola, I had a mountain of clothes to be ironed here too and added to by yesterday's wash...and I hadn't been away..just didn't feel up to doing them...but I finally got everything done...just wish I could do every thing in the nude for awhile to keep it that way...but I'd scare myself when ever I walked by a mirror...
Had a bad TS that lasted for about 20 to 25 minutes, and dropped the temps 20 degrees in an hour...much more comfortable now. and tomorrow promises to be nice..I'm looking forward to the lower temps and dry heat it has been pretty bad.
Better get myself off to bed so I will be in shape for the little one ..Take care all. Peace!

Morning all.

Gail, am I to assume from your post that you are happy with the new car?

So glad that Hollie is fighting. She is obviously not ready to leave the love she is receiving from you, Heidi.

I can't send the oldest grandie to school in her pj's and bare feet as the school has a fairly strict dress code. I hope to talk to D today about yesterday and how her first day at work was.

Coffee is ready - help yourself. Will be back in a bit ....

Happy Gail?
What about D is she happy not to have to be picked up from school in a fourby.
Lexus went yesterday. He texted to say he was on his way at 6:20pm next I heard from him was at 8:20 saying he was on the train and could I pick him up at the station. Had said I would do that the other day but he decided to drive with his wife. Picked him up at 8:45. Must have been 9:15 when he left with the car. Now we have a big empty space on the drive. Not for long though, should have our 'new' car in just over a week. Private sale, but guy is in Sweden at the moment but will be back next week.

Hollie has improved since last night. She's still unsteady, and will be for a while (acts drunk), and has a decided starboard list, but she's drinking on her own now and just asked to be helped outside to relieve herself. She'll make it. I feel like someone has just lifted a 16 ton block off my chest.

Shampoo alert!
As I was conditioning my hair in the shower this morning, I took time to read my shampoo bottle. I am in shock! The shampoo I use in the shower that runs down my entire body says "for extra volume and body"! Seriously, why have I not noticed this before? Now I understand why I am so "full-figured"!
Tomorrow I am going to start using "Dawn" dish soap. It says right on the label "dissolves fat that is otherwise difficult to remove."
It pays to read the warning labels, my friends!

things got moving for my friend and she left the hospital at 7pm and came straight here for dinner. I think it is a while since I have had all my family and no one else sit down at the dining room table for a meal. It is also probably the last time it will happen. I did not take a photo as I wanted it to be a happy event and not focas on reality. I cannot put the light on as Laura is asleep in this room so please excuse the typing.
