Never went on that drive. I walked out to the barn and realized that I was too tired to go fetch Challenger from the far end of the pasture and hitch him up. So I went back to the house and fell asleep for a good many hours. I'm gonna try to get up early tomorrow and hitch up Challenger. I don't know why I'm so sleepy.

Hello to you all, my lovelies. Hope the weather for you is not as bleak as it is here, but after the twelve year drought we have had, I no complain about the rain!

Well, why have I not visited for a while...I would love to say it is because nothing much is going on in our lives, but that would not be strictly correct!
As you all know, Chloe, my jet-setting daughter, is in Sth America at the moment. We have not heard from her in a couple of days, but that is ok, she said she was going to be without the internet while she was on the trek to Machu Picchu, how envious am I! I asked her to say a little word to the appropriate gods while she was there...can't hoit!
We have some other news to add the current family excitement...D#2 HAS MOVED OUT! Yes, shouting with happiness! All very sudden, but that seems to be the way we do things around here. She came home from work one night and said 'Now I have something to tell you and you are either going to be deliriously happy or extremely angry'! It seems that a girlfriend knew some people that have a rental house vacant for four months until they are ready to put it on the market, so they have it for that long, but I feel (hope) once out she will not want to come back home and it will only be the start.
She moved out yesterday! :)))))))))))))

Lucky you Gail. I hope D#2 enjoys her independence so much that she finds somewhere after the 4 months is up.
Hope Chloe is enjoying her trip. How long is she away for?

June, I hope you get to go to Vietnam! Everything crossed here!!

MizT, so glad to have you back!! We have ENTs here too. The surgery sounds pretty radical..I hope it works so there is no need for more chemo and radiation.. though I suspect they may tag some more on there anyway, just in case. Three cheers for the neighbourhood boy. I agree with others that it makes no sense that a boy with no male influences can't join scouts because there are no male influences!! A policy that needs to be brought to light and re-examined I think...

Julie, this is 2011, if you want Skype you can have Skype regardless of what your hubby says!! If it was a big expenditure I could understand why he might revolt, but not when it's free and will probably save you money in the long run!! If you don't know how to download it, I'm sure you have a friend or neighbour who could help... My 2 cents and worth exactly that..

Mamacita, SKYPE is a free download. You can buy a web cam for $20 or so. It is not an expensive investment.

Had a busy day. Went to my visit my brother at his jewelry store today for some needed repairs. Then went shopping with family. After dinner we met some friends for dessert. Harley came with us as they have outside tables. I have been eaten by mosquitoes. I am itchy and have just gotten out of a shower to try to help.

Mamacita, looking forward to hearing about what is happening in your life...

Cyn, congrats to Col. I hope he has a wonderful time and doesn't spend all of his time bashing heads with the old guard. He might even make a huge difference with this troop!!

Gail, how did D2 react when you were deliriously happy? And why on earth would she think you'd be angry???? That was tongue in cheek of course! I Hope Chloe is having a fantastic time! I suspect it may be a couple of days after she has finished before you hear from her because she will be asleep.

Suzanne, I am planning on buying one of the OFF fans. I will need it for Dylan's baseball games. The shower seemed to help. Mosquitoes love me. I am usually the first one to get bit. I must have gotten 10 new bites tonight.

No, no, hubby and I were as subtle as possible. I think she may have thought we would have issues with the suddenness of her proposal, but I asked her if she was happy about it, and she was, so we took our lead from that...until we had driven away after dropping off her bed etc, then hubby and I gave out a WHOOP and high fived! lol

Now, it's funny you should ask about Chloe and how she is enjoying herself and how long she will be away. I finished writing my post here then went to FB and there was a very strange message from her. Originally she was staying till the end of November, then that got brought forward as she decided she didn't want to do the animal sanctuary volunteering that was on the agenda...shovelling sh!t just isn't her thing, after all you might break a nail!...
Anyway, the msg this morning sounded very instant, that she was coming straight home! From what I have read, the trek is extremely difficult due to the high altitudes, and I think it was a kneejerk reaction to a particularly difficult section. Withing the hour, she said that she would contact us after MP, so at least she is going ahead with that, and she will be going to Bolivia and Argentina, but on a very tight schedule, so it sounds like she will be coming home within the next couple of weeks, rather than months.
I told her that here is forever, there is just this once, live with no regrets. Luckily we got the chance to have a brief chat, but I will be getting in her ear once she has been to MP! I hate the thought of her coming home when the opportunity is at her fingertips.

'Rash decisions' is Chloe's middle name!
MP is Machu Picchu...couldn't be bothered retyping it each time.

Don't get me wrong everyone, I love D#2, after all, loving them is in the parent's rule book, just there have been times when I haven't particularly liked her very much...

Greetings friends, I have enjoyed reading this page! Back with my friends again. I will catch up with all I missed sooner or later. Just not enough time.

I did get a break today, between 2 pm and 6 pm. I chose to read and doze in my chair, in same room with sweet hubby, and no one coming and going, most peaceful. He even had his hiss whirl machine off, the moist air that goes via large tube to his mask over trachea opening. Moist air helps keep the gunk thinner. Joy is still grossed out with the gunk. told her, it is like a baby with a cold, they have boogies on their nose, on their face, he has them in his tube. Warm water works wonders!!

Al has already gained a pound! Lost 7 before going in to hospital, he was working so hard to breathe. Lost 7 more, cause hospital could not get his feedings there when he was ready for them before surgery, then he was nauseated and did not want them. Oh well, I will get some weight on him.

Below is a long AL discussion. Pass on by if you want, but I was asked just what happened for Al to get to hospital.

What happened was, at the time we knew something was making him more and more tired, weak, able to do less and less. Took two trips to doc to get going in the right direction. Oncologist thought he was just not gaining his strength back after chemo and radiation, and his low blood counts. Counts were almost back to normal, give it a few more weeks to see. Three weeks later, Al could hardly walk to bathroom, lay unmoving in his recliner all day. I called for another appointment, got him to see doc, and they were shocked to see he had lost 7 pounds in 3 weeks. Al asked if they thought it could be his heart, and they referred us to cardiologist. I saw the appointment clerk phone to get him an appointment, and cardiologist office was to phone me when they found him a time. I was not happy with that, got home, phoned cardiologist and convinced them of the urgency of his being seen. Got a next day appointment, almost unheard of with a specialist.

Well, we never made it to that doc appointment. I had Al there at the hospital/doctor complex, went to get wheel chair to get him to office, cleared up who had an appointment at that time ( someone recorded wrong name). Doc got and looked at his chart ( they are shared electronically in that complex) , sent his nurse down to say, take him straight to ER, need tests I cannot do in office. Six hours later, she came by, said preliminary tests indicated heart OK, but she wanted 2 other tests, would we prefer to come back tomorrow?? or have him admitted. ADMITTED PLEASE, and could we also see the ENT doc? She did a consult with him, ran her tests on Wednesday, and Thursday morning ENT came in and did a scope. Said not sure why, radiation damage or cancer back, but his vocal cords were functioning poorly, shot really. almost paralyze. Vocal cords must open for us to breathe, his were so nearly closed. Said it was like breathing through a straw instead of a garden hose. They needed biopsy to see cause and know what to do next, but they would have to do tracheotomy before they could do surgery. That happened Friday, and you followed his progress pretty much after that in the AL Updates my sis sent out and Heidi passed on .

I must say thank you to Heidi and everyone who helped with that UPDATE system, it sure did save me lots of time phoning or e-mailing. Most efficent.

Again, thank you for the cards and the birthday messages, Bit moral booster for Al, he always gave a grin, showed me the cards as soon as I came in to visit!!

OK, that is my book for tonight, hugs and thoughts and prayers to each of you who need them.

Suzy, like Gail, I have had my card compromised, the number used by someone while card was still in my possession. A LOT of questions by the bank, but no police ever came to interview me. But the card being stolen, they might, I think. That was a REAL crime, not an internet crime.

Greetings to all of you! Wow! It's later than I thought. We did our 4+ hour drive to & from my sister for a visit, hair cut and lunch (not necessarily in that order). We haven't had much time to chat since D's wedding. She informed us that her youngest son (who is about 25) got drunk at D's reception, which we hadn't noticed. He attended with his new girlfriend. They had another wedding this weekend, and my sister reminded him not to get drunk again, as his GF was embarrassed and uncomfortable because of it. The only good thing was that he was old enough to drink and didn't need to drive anywhere afterward - just walk back to the hotel where his family was staying.

I have quickly read through page 212 and am SO pleased to see that MizT, Mamacita and June have all posted. However, I can't seem to get what I've read straight, so don't think I'll attempt comments now. It will be better to try when I'm more awake.

Sending huge amounts of positive thoughts, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} to all! May your day/evening/night be pleasant! All the best to each of you in the coming day!

Hi everyone.
Great to see you posting again MzT and I wish Al all the best.
My neighbour had a fall on her concrete path on Friday afternoon.
She broke her nose and has chipped her cheekbone in 3 places.
She looks like she has been in a car accident.
The right side of her face is a mess and her eye is nearly closed shut.
The bruising is horrific.

Sorry to hear about your neighbour Viv, that sure sounds nasty, and it knocks your confidence too.
When I had a severe back spasm after I had Hannah, I was using a walking stick for quite some time, it certainly made me feel more secure and supported.

We have had Laura all weekend. Today we went to a miniature railway and she had a couple of rides, then we went to a large park for a picnic lunch. MIL sat in the car at the trains but was able to get out at the park. Laura had a great time.
My cough as almost gone. Feel the best tonight than for the last couple of weeks.
Hope it has been a great day for you Broni.
Tricia, worrying lots about you and Al. Cancer is a b*gger of a thing. Ken had a cousin who had his voice box removed nearly 15 years ago. With the machine he had it was a bit hard to understand him at first but he soon got proficient and easy to understand. They have probably improved since then. (He was older than Ken and has since passed away)

Viv - not good about your neighbour but don't hurt your back any further by trying to help out too much.
June, I've had a weekend full of grandies and still have one here overnight because she (Hayley) has an excursion to another school and I'm dropping her there in the morning, then off to lunch with a friend.
Exhausted now, so off for an early night.
Broni - hope you day was enjoyable.
MizT & Al - big hugs!
Suzy - was the ATM question hypothetical?
Hello to everyone else... sorry gotta go!
