Gail, hope your daughter makes the most of her time in South America. we have not been there and I do not think I would cope with the high altitude at MP. I also hope D2 enjoys being independent. My first two left home early (although did come home for awhile later) but Sharon was with us until she got married, aged 24. (Gail and Suzy, it was her first husband who read the Scouts Prayer)
Julie, you live such a busy life but still get the time to come here and comment on all our doings!
Mamacita, hope all those problems are now sorted and life is on a more even keel. Lovely to have you back and so pleased that the music was to your liking.
Viv, I will be in touch if you have to come to Sydney for the Doc. Although the back still gives me some problems I was like you 4-5 years ago so understand your pain.
Hope your neighbour will be OK.
Suzy, a couple of years ago the police found our purse and wallet in a stolen car (cards had not been used) and they came and knocked on our door at 12.30am. (Taken from our house earlier in the evening and not missed by us). They probably got about $200 and my good digital camera. We got all our cards etc back which saved us a lot of hassle and extra expense.

Morning friends, up with my coffee and breakfast. Must soon start another busy day, but so nice to have time with computer and all my friends who live there

I read some, forgot a lot, my mind goes in so many directions, always thinking what must be done next. Best wishes and prayers to the neighbor who has the face reconstruction ahead. That sounds tough.

Gail, hope daughter can make best decision for her concerning staying or going home. Congrats on another offspring flying the coop! Do you have an empty nest now??

June, sounds like you had a great time with Laura. It is good your MIL was able to join you at the park. You are really sandwiched between caring for grandchild and caring for MIL, it has to be hard.

Must go, sister is to ring soon to go over my shopping list. I e-mailed it to her last night, she replied she had questions. She and hubby will do the big Wal mart shop for me, yeah! Just not enough energy or time for that now, do not want to leave Al alone either. doc said later I could, but not this week.

Hugs to all, sorry if I did not domment on your post, but I did read! Beginning to feel a part of the group again, would rather read all the posts and not reply, than to read and reply to only a few. I do enjoy your news.

OK, here is my call, later, hugs,

Try and get some 'You' time today, MizT.
No, we are not empty-nesters yet, Hannah is still at home. She is still only 17, and is finishing her final year of high school this year. Next year she hopes to go to TAFE (trade college) to do a year-long course, so she will stay here for that year too I should think.
Officially, Chloe still lives at home too.

Why did I think Chloe had already left home and you only had two living with you.
As Gail said Mizt make sure you have some you time. You will be no good to help Al if you burn yourself out. ((HUGS)) to you both you have a lot going on.
I'm trying to get myself motivated to do something but for the life of me I cannot remember what it is supposed to be I want to do. We have been sitting here watching the grand prix and now watching cricket.

Hi everybody. Woke up early in massive pain. My back and left leg were in so much pain that I was crying. I've taken the maximum allowed amount of pain meds, and the pain has eased up enough to allow me to function a little. Only 3 days to go until the epidural!! I don't think I'll be getting much done in the next few days.

MizT.... I wish I could be there to help you and Al. I hope the surgery gets all the cancer. It would be awful to go through it for nothing.
I've read all the posts, and would like to comment, but my brain is to fuzzy to remember what I read. I still care about all of you, even if I've said nothing.

Gail, having my "me" time now here at the puter. I told Al I was off duty till 6 pm, when next meds, feedings, and cleaning of trac site are due.

Earlier when I might have sat a while, my sister was here and we put away the groceries and shopping that she and her hubby did for me, cleaned out a set of drawers for storing medical supplies and moved them, did some straightening in my sewing room, and some in the junk room, got some of the paperwork straightened. Nothing finished, sorry to say, but we made a big dent in each.

Al has gained another half pound, yeah! His body is sucking up these extra calories I am pushing, storing them away. It is good to see him gaining.

Theresa, I love lentil soup! Can you share a bowl? Now, once I had some canned, did not care for that much, but love my home made.

Vicki, I feel for you, starting your weekend off feeling so tired. Try to get some extra rest if you can.

Broni, bet the possums on the roof could make enough noise without their football!! What's with you giving everyone else more hugs than me?? (go back and read your sentence, it just struck me funny) I do hope you get back to sleep for a while, I hate being up in the wee dark hours. You are right, being here is a good thing, gives us something to do till we can sleep again.

Yep, Heidi, it would be terrible to go through it and not have good results, but I did not think it would be for nothing. It is giving him hope, and that is important. He said he would never do this, but when that is your only remaining choice. . .

Tami, yes, it helps to know that you have us in your thoughts and prayers! Keep it up please, it is a good thing.

Theresa, we all could go up to Heidi's, and hire us a nurse to help us all hehehe. He should be good looking, and able to give aches a massage.

Heidi, so sorry that you are in such pain with that back and leg! There should be something to relieve that severe pain. Sometimes you are just tempted to take more than the allowed dose of pain relievers, huh? Three more days, we will count with you. Have you tried alternating heat and cold to the area of back where pain originates? sometimes that confuses the path of the pain message and might help. Other thing is relaxation and visualization, but hard to do when the pain is so severe, I know. thinking of you and wishing your pain away.

Hugs to each of you, and a special hello and howdy to any I might have missed today. Till later.

MizT, it was canned lentil soup. Maybe you could invite me for a bowl of home made some time???? I see what you mean by Broni's statement - sounds like everyone gets more than you!!!! Gave me a chuckle when I re-read it.

Tami - 9/11 did indeed change the world. We were just talking about that last night at dinner with Andrew and his girls - Emily was born in Nov 01 and I told her she was born into a different world than the her parents, grandparents, Hayley and her cousins. The enormity of what happened is just dawning on them as they get older.
Well I have dropped Hayley off to her Volleyball tournament and am back here for an hour or so before I leave to meet my friend for lunch. We have been friends for 46 years since we worked together in a bank after we left high school.

I have to share this. I found it on the other site and I am sitting here with a tear in my eye.

‎9/11 Remembrance at the Rainbow Bridge
On the morning of September 11, 2001, there was an unprecedented amount of activity at the Rainbow Bridge. Decisions had to be made. They had to be made quickly. And, they were. At issue, not often addressed here, is the fact that many residents really have no loved one for whom to wait. Think of the pups who lived and died in hideous puppy mills. No one on earth loved or protected them. What about the many who spent unhappy lives tied in backyards? And, the ones who were abused. Who are they to wait for? We don't talk about that much up here. We share out loved ones as they arrive, happy to do so. But we all know there is nothing like having your very own person who thinks you are the most special pup in the Heavens. Last Tuesday morning, a request rang out for pups not waiting for specific persons to volunteer for special assignment. An eager, curious crowd surged excitedly forward, each pup wondering what the assignment would be.
They were told by a solemn voice that unexpectedly, all at once, over 4,000 loving people had left Earth long before they were ready. All the pups, as all pups do, felt the humans' pain deep in their own hearts. Without hearing more, there was a clamoring amount them - "May I have one to comfort?" - "I'll take two, I have a big heart." - "I have been saving kisses forever." One after another they came forward begging for assignment. One cozy-looking fluffy pup hesitantly asked, "Are there any children coming? I would be very comforting for a child, 'cause I'm soft and squishy and I always wanted to be hugged." A group of Dalmatians came forward asking to meet the Firemen and be their friends. The larger working breeds offered to greet the Police Officers and make them feel at home. Little dogs volunteered to do what they do best, cuddle and kiss.
Dogs who on Earth had never had a kind word or a pat on the head, stepped forward and said, "I will love any human who needs love."
Then all the dogs, wherever on Earth they originally came from, rushed to the Rainbow Bridge and stood waiting, overflowing with love to share - each tail wagging an American Flag..

Ahhh, Tami, made me shed a tear also. Thanks for sharing, so special.

"That other site", ooops, I have not been there since we got internet restored. perhaps I should check it out??

Heidi, according to daughter Joy, there was a really good looking, smart, and kind male nurse taking care of her Dad on the night shift. Could we recruit him, even if he is not George? I really need the massage tonight.

What is one way 9/11 changed each of you? I will go first.

About 4 or 5 years ago, Al and I were driving across the bridge over a creek, headed for town. I saw a couple lengths of pipe lying on the road. Asked hubby "Could that be a pipe bomb?" Would not have thought of that before 9/11, pipe was just pipe. Turns out, IT WAS 2 pipe bombs, that seemed to have fallen out of some vehicle. They did not have a detonator, but were otherwise complete.

September 11th.
my MIL's birthday.
10 years ago, MIL was out and about all day, and came back to our place for Dinner without going home first.
My Mum came as well (she was still driving and being a Tuesday at my place for dinner as usual).
After Dinner, mum went home (she declined to stay overnight), Peter took his Mum home, and my cherubs went to bed zzz, and I tackled the dishes.
Mum rang when she got home, to say that 'something bad' was happening in America.. I said nah, nothing on the TV to indicate that..
Moments after the phone call with Mum, the 'something bad' came on the TV.
Meanwhile Peter rang, his mum's place was broken into during the day, they were waiting for police etc etc.. and I said..hey in Americia... Peter ' Don't know anything about it.. we are waiting for .... ~ end of that conversation.
Meanwhile Uncle in America rang MIL and said his Daughter was OK.. MIL goes Umm what are you talking about.. Uncle said, if you still have TV turn it on.. (his Daughter is a Flight Attendant only been in the job a couple of months).
In the end, MIL came back to our house and we watched till early AM, watching the HORROR as it unfolds. The cherubs found out in the morning..

Rolanda, on that day, one of the first things I did was phone my friend Cathi to see where she, her husband and many of her family members were. they were all people who flew for a living. Cathi was home, her hubby was diverted to Canada, a female relative was in Paris and had to stay 3 extra days, poor dear. Other family members were not scheduled to fly that day.

I did not know my own sister was in New Jersey, just across the river from the trade towers, and she lost members of her corporate "team" that day. The survivors rented a car to get back home to Georgia.

Hello, Everyone! (It's so much better than getting here after midnight!) Finally hope to read and comment, starting on page 212.

Terrific TOPP, Tami the T!

Heidi, what a great idea to have a separate font for sarcasm. You could definitely have used it! You must have a tremendous amount of patience to deal with all that you do! I'm glad you were finally able to get signed up for the parade!

June, so glad to see your posts! I hope you are feeling much better since seeing the doctor and getting some appropriate meds. to counteract any nasty bugs, etc.! I wish I had a magic wand that could magically de-bug/de-frag all of our computers and update them so that they worked perfectly and quickly! I think it would help many of us! Only a few weeks until your MIL goes home! I'm so glad you'll be free to join Ken for a trip to Viet Nam and Cambodia in October!

Mamacita, it's nice to see you posting again and so glad to hear that you had a wonderful musical trip! The part about the drama, though, doesn't sound too great! I hope it wasn't too bad!

MizT, I'm delighted to see that your internet has returned! {{{{{{HUGS}}}}} to both you and Al. Huge thanks to Al for getting the internet working! Also sending silent thanks to the teen who lives near you and has let you know that he'll be taking care of the yard and other small chores you might need to be taken care of. Also, great news that you have worked out a schedule! With all that you are doing, it will help to keep you on track and organized! You can even use it to "check off" items when they are completed, so that you don't inadvertently skip something or do something too frequently.

Cyn, what a great observation - that thinking of MizT and Al and ways he can help them may help the teen get back on track. I hope all went well when Col got reinvested as a Scout leader! How wonderful that Lachlan and Madeline could be a (surprise) part of the ceremony!

MizT, will be keeping you and Al in my prayers! The procedure sounds involved. No wonder it needs to be at a big teaching hospital with funds for the doctors and equipment. Since it is what Al has chosen and others concur, I hope that it can be scheduled - and as soon as practicable!

Read your question about scouting's requirement for a father figure. It's somewhat understandable, but sounds like the guidelines are being adhered to too rigidly! If your neighbor's grandsons can't be involved with scouts, perhaps there's a Big Brother kind of program in the area - or perhaps some kind of program through a local church?

Theresa, I hope each day gets a little easier to deal with the cravings!

Tami, how fun to hook up with the cousin via phone - and ultimately in person! I hope all goes well with the visit!

Cyn, your comment about the "old guard" in scouting reminds me of what we're coming up against in our wood turning club. "The way we've always done things" isn't necessarily the best way.

Tricia, I'm glad you were able to get the boil taken care of and get some relief!

Heidi, how are the lovebird babies doing?

Tami, I should remember to thank you for the coffee every day, but since I don't drink it, I tend to just scroll on past. I know that cyber coffee means a lot to many of our fellow Sudokuaholics, so I'd like to go on the record right now as thanking you!

And now, over to page 213!

Oh yes, I think that is one of the reasons I stopped being on committees. If I heard, 'but we've always done it this way' one more time, I was ready to strangle someone! Like a pantry, sometimes you need to go through these things and get rid of anything that has gone past its use by date! Be that the traditions or the people that hold to them...whatever!

Cyn, your TOPPS on page 213 are great!

Happy Birthday to Broni (and Jane) and also so dear Dizzy Lizzy! I hope you have all enjoyed a spectacular birthday!

Heidi, I think you made the right decision on postponing the ride with Challenger. I hope you had a beautiful day today and were able to enjoy the ride!

Gail, so pleased for you that D#2 has moved out - and will hopefully find that she truly enjoys being on her own! Seems like you handled it very well!

Suzy, so far I have "picked my battles" with hubby over Skype. He's feeling like I'm spending too much time at the computer again. About a month ago someone started a "closed page" on facebook called "I Grew Up in S______ and I Remember". My sister got me on it. There are now 933 members, some of whom I know or knew through one of my siblings, but many of whom I don't know, but feel like I'm getting to know through their posts. So, yes, I am spending more time on fb.

Tami, I hope all of your mosquito bites are healing and no longer itch!

Oh, my, Gail, your tales of Chloe are interesting. Here we all are drooling over her opportunities and wishing we could see MP - only to hear that for some reason she is ready to come home. Do you suppose something has happened that she hasn't yet shared with you? Or do you truly just think she might be disillusioned because things aren't as easy as she anticipated? I hope you are able to talk her into staying longer than she has recently indicated! It's such an opportunity!

Suzy, I hope nothing too serious has happened with your bank card!

MizT, so glad to hear that Al is already beginning to regain some weight! What a struggle breathing must have been for him. No wonder he was exhausted! You and Al have been through the wringer, but it seems you are on the right track now! Keeping fingers crossed that he can be seen soon at the teaching hospital! Thank you for persevering to get things done in a timely manner for Al!

Viv, so sorry to hear about your neighbor! Adding her to my prayers and positive thoughts! I hope the surgery went well - and hope she has others besides you who can help her. Remember to take care of yourself, too!

June, I hope Laura enjoyed her time at the miniature railway and at the park for a picnic lunch! Very glad to hear that your cough has improved!

June, what a great "almost TOPP" for this page! I'm glad your MIL was able to interact some with Laura at the park & picnic.

MizT, I think we all agree that we would rather have an occasional post/update than have you worry about commenting on each of our posts. You have SO much to do, and we expect you to set reasonable priorities!

Gail, I hope Chloe makes the best possible decision as to whether she stays longer or comes home sooner!

Brenda, that sounds so like something I would do - remember that there was something important that I was about to decide to do, but forget what the important thing was! Did you remember yet?

Heidi, I hope all of the pain meds. continued to ease the pain at least a little bit! I hope the days until your next epidural just fly by! And I hope it is an absolutely HORRIBLE one! Take it easy and get as much rest as possible in the meantime!

Vicki, we're glad the weekend is over and you are back posting!

Tami, what a cute picture of Mitchell and Harley!

Broni, possums playing football! Very imaginative! Of course, it must be quite loud!

MizT, you and your sister got a lot done! The organizing will help make things much easier to do/find! Keep up the good work on increasing Al's calories!

Love the idea of getting us all together on Heidi's farm and hiring George C. as a nurse/masseuse! Shall we have at least one more? How about a chef? We don't want to forget having someone to naelc and do yrdnual! Isn't it amazing how each of us can think of ways to "improve" the Surreal Farm Rehab, Spa and Sudoku Center?

Tami, thank you so much for sharing the 9/11 Rainbow Bridge! I had to wipe tears, as well!

Gail, I like your "Use By Date" and pantry analogy for committees/organizations!
