Sigh June, I suspect a bit of that and a bit of a dad not as attentive as her mum was... I don't envy you at the moment as letting her get away with stuff like that is not good for her in the long run (or you), but with everything else going on saying anything at all would be tough. I wish I was confident that I would know how to handle that as I am that you will work it all out.

Suzy, it is hard when I find things after she has gone home. I sit and try and talk to her about it. Her father is quite strict with her and when home she has school etc so not as much time to get into things. Next year she will not be allowed to watch the TV in our bedroom if she is going to touch things and I will have more time to do craft things etc with her.

Well done June, kiddies need boundaries set, especially as she is seeking attention. Your room is a no-go zone unless you are in there with her.
Speaking as an expert in child psychology (!) she is showing the exact behaviour one would expect being so young and losing her mother.
My thoughts will be with you tomorrow, I am sure you will have some beautiful moments, but there will always be a but, an elephant in the room if you will.

My thought was I hope Dad gets more organised and drops her off when she is supposed to be dropped off because I think not knowing what is going to happen wouldn't be helping her at all, especially tomorrow.

The elephant will be huge tomorrow but I'm hoping it will be quiet and friendly and you will feel her wishing you all peace and love.

I will be thinking of you three and Laura tomorrow and hoping it's not too hard a 'first'..

Watched the Carols tonight. A bit of nostalgia. Memories of Sharon singing Alleluia Chorus in the Sydney Opera House. She was in the school choir. They always had speech day at the Opera House and always sang the Alleluia Chorus.

Hi everyone. Just popping in to wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS. A very lean Christmas for me as far as food goes but that is okay. I am determined to lose the 8kg.

June, wish we were going to be in Melbourne at the same time.. though you will be busy with family so maybe it's just as well.

Hubby has been looking at the area around our hotel on google maps and every other map and it looks like we'll be doing a lot of walking and a lot of eating... should be fun!

Dana is really looking forward to us going away as she is going to house and pet sit and really wants the time away from some of her most annoying friends.. She's become a very good liar in the last couple of years but all indications are she really wants to separate herself from some of the losers in her life. Let's hope there's some truth in there and wishful thinking isn't colouring my thinking.

I was thinking earlier today and I thought: if I wasn't a part of SA I wouldn't have lost friends to cancer this year, I wouldn't have had friends in pain, I wouldn't have had friends dealing with family hassles that are a different kind of pain and and ... and you know what - you guys and the good times are so worth it, I'll be here again in 2012 no matter what!!

Merry Xmas to everyone celebrating!

Morning all. I made a big pot of coffee so my friends down under can be wide awake for Christmas Eve. I truly wish all my friends a very Merry Christmas.

Suzy, I agree. I would rather share the hard times than not have met any of the people here. I will also be back, to cause trouble, in 2012.

I told IH that if he picks up dog food for me this morning, he can use my truck all day. The car repair shop owner told IH that his truck needs to be towed in, not driven. They won't be able to start repairs on his truck until Monday, so he has no transportation for awhile. I'd rather just sit around here instead of run errands, so my back comes out ahead on this deal. All I have to do now is to take the bucket off the front end loader on the tractor and put the hay spear on, then feed hay to the cows and horses. With the spear on the front, as well as one on the back, I can feed 2 rolls at a time. This afternoon, IH and Don (and maybe George) will fix the busted fence.

The cows and horses are a LOT happier. I put out 6 rolls for the cows and one roll for the horses. Now I can crash the rest of the day.... except for making supper tonight. Don and Barb have invited us to their place for Christmas dinner, so that's easier for me.

IH just got a court summons. He is being taken to court on Jan 5th for not paying the company that supplies us with diesel for the tractors. The last load they dropped off was contaminated with algae (we didn't know that then) and we filled up both tractors with it as soon as it was delivered. Both tractors broke down and required a lot of work to clean out the fuel lines throughout the engines. It cost me over a thousand dollars. The company that sold us the diesel sued their supplier because the same thing happened to half the tractors in the county. But they still expect us to pay for the contaminated fuel. I contend that if we have to pay for the fuel, they have to pay for the repairs. The good bit is that they're only suing IH. IH was under the impression that both of us were expected to show up in court.

Good Morning friends, and a Merry Christmas or Merry Christmas Eve to all.

I am a bit concerned about Scooter. I know I told you about her falling from the computer tower, falling in her sleep, the other night. Last night, she fell off 4 or 5 times. Kept waking me, usually just when I had got this cold settled enough to get to sleep. Falling occasionally was comical, but that many times, I do wonder what is happening.

Well, Joy will get 3 pillows for Christmas. My trip to pharmacy and to meet recipient of the medical supplies took all spare energy yesterday. I have some de-cluttering to do this morning, and that is gonna be it. Want to feel up to going out to dinner tonight with Joy.

June, I hope the problems with Laura are soon resolved. She had to have some reaction to this tragedy in her life. We had commented here that she seemed just a bit too good in handling it. Now there are a few symptoms suggesting she was not handling it as well as we thought.

Heidi, I hope your staying home and resting do wonders for your back today.

Morning all,
Nola!! Good to see you! I hope you have today off but if you don't, I know you will help make some other people's Xmas while you work...

Julie, I hope you have a wonderful day and that you soon have time to come back to us..

Rena too! One of the things I love about the holidays is catching up with old friends.

MizT, I hope Scooter just has a little cold like you and is otherwise okay.

Heidi, I agree that you guys shouldn't have to pay for the contaminated fuel. If you bought something in a store and it was faulty you would get a full refund so why is this any different?

June, I think your first visitors of the day should be arriving soon. I hope you have a wonderful day sharing love and memories with your family.

How old is my good friend Scooter, MizT? If she's elderly, it might just be a touch of senility. I've seen that in other cats. I wouldn't worry much.

dear friends.
Julie I look forward to your posts as I don't have time to read either...need your summary..
But..I have read this page.
June I've been thinking about Sharon and it is good to read your posts to touch base with how & where things are at.

Suzy I certainly hope we can share a drink while you are down.. need to chat to Miss Cockatoo to find out what you are up to..unless I can find your phone number.

Won't repeat my big post on easy but Lachie & I are in 'chill out' mode. Off to find another coffee and maybe a gingerbread [yum..also made by Lachie] and put my feet up... maybe even snooze after that sugar hit!!

My new year resolutions will be rather drastic... to put it mildly. Need to have a 'little procedure' and I am scared of the 'gas-man'.. need to get myself as fit as it is as humanely possible for a bean to be before I do that..
Hmm..there is also a 40 year nursing [& school] reunion coming up.. how could we possibly be that old???????

Hi Tami.
Thank you. I know he would and mean it whole heartedly but like all that have seen and dealt with some of the things that we have he will also understand. I was pretty 'gung ho' about it all until I was on the receiving end of 'one of those incidents'... both as the care provider and the recipient. I'm opting for the the fully equipped facility with all bells and whistles working instead of a the little private abode where you get treated like royalty.. Would rather do without the glitz with my history.

In the mean time I'd best stop eating these pistachio nuts..I'm sure they aren't good for me!!

Ok, well we're totally full of roast turkey and other goodies, and now Melbourne is being hit by storms and huge hail ... all in all a good day to be sitting around eating and drinking way too much! Hope you're all having a wonderful day. :)

Evening all,
It has been a nice day here. Quiet, just the way I like it since the lead up is always insane...

Tonight we've had leftover Turkey etc for dinner and are drinking margaritas - a blast from the past, part of my Xmas present to hubby. We've just finished watching Hairspray and Alie then danced and sang around the lounge room which was as much fun as the movie. Now I'm trying to stay awake long enough to watch Little Shop of Horrors. Alie too as she is acting in it next year and wants to see what it's like.

Is Alie acting in the musical version, or the original? The musical has some of the best music ever! Whoever plays Audrey II had better have a super strong voice. Following in the vocal cords of Levi Stubb (of the Four Tops) is suicidal.

Haven't opened presents yet. The puppies and big dogs got theirs and are happily playing with their old toys. Just like kids. IH is at his lab working with his worm cultures. As soon as he gets back here, in half an hour, we'll attend to presents and stocking stuffers.

Merry Christmas topsiders. I do hope your day is all you want it to be.

We did gifts last night, made cookies watched the grinch steal christmas once again, Joy's christmas tradition. We had a lot of fun. We did not go out to dinner, she brought in Mexican food for us, and I could taste it hehehe.

Slept longer at a stretch than I have since this cold moved in, woke with a lot of congestion and coughing. I am not going to BIL's today, I do not need to share this, and the weather is miserable, I do not need to be out in it. cold cold rain, gonna rain all day. forecasters missed the forecast by over 12 hours, rain was to start tonight, not fore daybreak today. What will the parents of all the children with new bicycles today do with kind wanting to go ride??

I need to make coffee, later I will make biscuits to go with the fig preserves I saved just for today. but first to put the coffee pot on, need coffee, need coffee bad.

Best wishes of the season for each of you today, with hugs thrown in for good measure.
