'If you are feeling low, devote some time to something you're good at. It will help you face your next challenge with confidence.'

Not sur what I will do when I have used all the pages in my little book. There are now a lot of pages with a 'dot' ie ones that I have used.

Broni, hope you are soon feeling brighter. Also best wishes for the 'little fighter' to be OK. I thought once the boat was sold things would get better but you seem to have new obstacles thrown at you.

Brenda, with all the trauma and injuries that dog has suffered I am afraid my feelings are that it should have been put down. I hate to see animals suffer and that is what that poor thing is doing. Of course those people that did that to the dog should be put down as well!
Heidi, that fence is certainly progressing, but keep out of the extreme heat because we certainly do not want you in hospital.

I just picked up the final 55 bags of concrete for tomorrow morning's work. We're so far behind schedule because of this heat. This is getting frustrating. At least the tummy and intestines are feeling a bit better. The problem with having Robert help me is that I can't take the kind of breaks I like to.... half hour on, half hour off. Robert does require supervision and help.

Broni - sorry that you've had such a sad time of it lately. Big hugs to you. Also, to Teresa and her little grandie - I hope that he will be alright. (My niece was born in the same circumstances and it was touch and go - she is now 39, has a brilliant career, a couple of uni degrees, a couple of kids and is happy and healthy.)
Theresa - Happy 36th Birthday to your daughter. Mine turns 40 in September, so I'm starting to gather photographs to make into an album for her, like I did for her brother when he turned 40, 18 months ago.

Hi everyone! Not much happening here : dog is at day-school today, son-in-law is here most of the time. Did a bit of gardening yesterday (dog enjoyed THAT!) And I've been reading a lot ... Sun is shining today. :)
Hope you are all well and happy.

((((( HUGS ))))) to all who need and want them. I think that includes everybody here.

I've just put a tarp over the concrete and tied it down. We have a storm front headed here and it should hit in about 3 hours. After buying all of the fast setting concrete that Lowe's had, I can't afford to ruin this. It will be 2 weeks at least before they get more... next week they're doing inventory. (I told them that I made their job easier today by buying ALL of this concrete. One last thing to inventory.)

YEAH, I have electricity again, my computer that would not come on is back on, the modem that was not working is working again. I am cool, I have a cup of coffee, all is getting back to normal.

Power went off just before dawn today, Ought dark thirty hehehe. I thought lightning had got home phones, computer and modem, guess it was just WATER, rain did blow sideways. Once they dried out, they worked again. All except computer, took some inventive giggling.

I could not get it to work by giggling the connection that is the problem, unplugging and re-plugging that had worked for Joy last time did not work, so I tried something different. I hit the ON button for computer at same time I plugged in the connection, and I had computer again. hehehe.

OK I am tired, closer to exhausted. Twelve hours of no power, 3 or 4 of it in extreme heat and humidity (inside temp was 86, with humidity the feels like was probably 96 or more) just wiped me out. You know, some Gatorade might help, I lost so much fluid, and the electrolytes along with it.

I got so over heated once, going out to small dome to find kerosine for the lamps in case power was not back on by dark. I started the car, sat with 3 AC vents blowing as hard as the fan would blow. That was a big help. While car was running, I also put my cell phone on charge. I could have gone to sister's house, but was OK here till after lunch. Then I decided if power was not back on by 7 pm, I would go to Joy's for the night if it had not cooled down considerably, and with sun out, it would not have cooled much. Power company had estimated they could get a crew out here by 5:00 pm. I saw their truck make a run down our street and back at 5:15, power was back by 5:30.

I really did not want to have to drive anywhere, too tired, to hot and sweaty, to hurty and to much under influence of pain meds. It all worked out fine.

YEAH, so happy to have power again! It could have been so much worse, if more people had been without power, if it had taken them longer. You really do not appreciate the simple things of life till you are without.

Friend Eddie came by to bring me some more boxes, found out I had not had any coffee, took my travel mug with him, heated water on his gas stove and brought me back a cup of coffee! Best coffee I had had all week, cause I had wanted it so long. Really a good cup, could not tell it was instant, he had the formula just right. Now that is a GOOD friend.

OK, tired as, sleepy too, missed a lot of sleep with the first storm that went through. Wind blew so hard, it broke more than half the very tall stalks of my pot of coleus, broke them off at the root! Small tree branches about the property, but I see no trees down, no damage. So much lightning, you would not believe, a real light show.

I will get caught up on reading tomorrow, or later tonight. Hugs for today, with extras.

Forot to say, there was a second and then a third thunder storm that went through. the second one is the one that knocked out the power. Lightning probably fried something essential.

I am really gone this time, hugs.

So much on the pages since I posted last night...

Broni BIG hugs and lots of love. Thinking og you.

Heidi I hope the cement is wrapped securely.. what a disaster that would be if it got wet!

Glad to hear power is back Tricia. So not good. How did we ever manage before.

June..what to do when you getto the end of the book.. start all over again.. they will still be relevant and some of the best gems in life are more revealing on ones second visit. Not surprised that we are on the same wavelength here re the pup.

Good to see you Judy :)

Too many interuptions happening today..completly lost the plot on what I was saying [started this post nearly 4 hours ago]. Will return.

I'm still only absorbing snippets! I want my brain back! And my hearing! (I wonder if losing my hearing is why my brain isn't working right?)

Had a little discussion with Dana today - came to me while I was hanging out Tahli's clothes that I had washed and I realised she was sitting on the lounge playing with her XBox... I came inside and said 'Tahli is asleep and you are well enough to ask me to take you to buy KFC so I think it's time you took a break from being a teenager and be a mum - huh? - pick up the mess and put on a load of washing. Well, she picked up 3 things and then woke Tahli so she didn't have to do anything else... She also didn't get her KFC as the last thing she ate, she lost. I said she needed something like toast. Well, did she throw a tandy over that! Grrrr

Broni, I am sending vibes for the little one. That was one that did catch a hold of my brain. That and Cyn's niece doing so well after being born the same way. I wish that for this little one

What else caught - MizT in thunderstorms and then humid heat with no power! Yikes! Glad that is over...

Heidi, hope your concrete stayed dry! Or is cement, I can never remember which is which..

June, more hugs for you, Belinda, hubby and Laura..

Midge, I think MizT needs to make you one of her trademark avatar thingies so I don't miss your posts! I'm not sure if she can anymore with the changes to her computer set up though...

Theresa, did I say happy birthday yet? It's in my brain that I might have, but I might have just thought it! If she won't think it's creepy, please pass on my birthday wishes...

Greetings to Everyone!

June, Laura is an amazing child and must really think about all that is going on around her!

Theresa, keep up the good work on the stationary bike!

MizT, you're getting more packed up and sorted out every day! Great progress - and without too much harm to your body, I hope!

Suzy, I hope you - and all family members - are recovering! Take it easy and get as much sleep as possible!

Brenda, so sorry to hear about the puppy. Hopefully he will survive and find a good forever home!

Theresa, what terrific news about your MIL! Progress is being made! Sure wish there would be more progress on the renovations to their home! BTW, I hope your neighbor's cat is found!

Heidi, I'm glad to hear that you're pacing yourself and keeping aware of the temperature! I hope Robert reports to work promptly at 9 a.m. so the maximum can be done in the 'lower' temperatures! So sorry about the food poisoning! I hope you'll be feeling better in no time!

Hi, Nola! It's good to see you dropping in here! Good luck to your son in looking for a place. If he finds something, will he help with the sprucing up of the investment property?

It's nice to see you visit here, Midge! You need to take some time for yourself, but maybe not TOO much, so you don't need to fire yourself.

MizT, I hope the storms passed around you and you were finally able to get some sleep!

Bean, I hope the Telstra technicians finally arrived! You really seem to be in a much better place. Keep up the good work!

Broni, so sorry to hear about your difficult month! Prayers for your friend Teresa's D's baby! Give yourself a break when you can, as you're obviously working LOTS!

Happy Birthday to your D, Theresa!

June, another great TOPP! Don't worry about running out of quotes in your book. I'm sure many of them could be recycled and be just as meaningful as the first time around!

Judy, it's good to 'see' you and 'hear' that things are going well!

MizT, that's too many storms for one day-night! How awful to be without power and therefore AC! I'm glad your power was restored and you didn't need to drive to Joy's or Edna's to get some relief! What a friend Eddie is to realize you could use a cup of hot coffee!

Heidi is right! Once you are moved, all of these problems (AC, power, etc.) will be someone else's!

Suzy, I knew you meant Alie's 'fiance' when you posted Go get some sleep, young lady!

And that's exactly what I need to do! Sending lots of , positive thoughts, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, healing vibes and prayers for all who can use them!

I'm up and almost ready to start work. Robert is on his way, too. Last night the radar showed a big storm heading our way, so I covered the concrete. To my surprise, once it was covered, the storm magically dissipated and never arrived. I know full well if I hadn't covered it, we would have gotten a downpour.

Heidi, that humidity will get you. Be careful. Working in the night is cooler. do you have lights for working after dark? WoW for getting all the posts concreted in. when is it that serenade arrives??

Good Night Broni, hope you have a good sleep. Sending prayers and good wishes for the little one, Meconium Aspiration is such a serious thing to happen to a newborn, can cause so many problems, some with lasting consequences. I do hope s/he recovers 100 %. If you or grandma Teresa wants more information, that is what to google, the medical term.

Theresa, good for you on the bike riding. Glad you are increasing your times. that is one thing I cannot do, cause of a fractured pelvic bone many years ago, me and the 'saddle' do not get along. so I doubly admire anyone who can, you go girl.

Suzy, I agree, a 16 year old should not be out at night, after a concert, riding the trains alone. needs adult supervision. And you may tell her i said so hehehe.

Julie, I agree, I think that was the nicest thing anyone has done for me in a long time, going to make me a cup of coffee. To each of you saying I will not have to deal with such once I move, I agree, I cannot wait till I don't have this to worry about. but i do need to ask if they have a back up generator, or what they do if they have a prolonged power outage. Luckily I am only on second floor, I could get down and out one flight without elevator.I would worry if i were up on 5 or 6 floor.

I was exhausted after dealing with heat and humidity yesterday. so tired i could not sleep last niht, got to sleep around 3 am and slept till 11 I got in my eight hours of zzzzz's, just not my regular hours.

About the avatars I once made, I have forgotten how to do them! It has been so long, and would take me so long to relearn, sorry Midge I just do not have the time with moving to do this now. HEIDI, you find great avatars, how about sharing one with Midge??

OK, time to do something else today. If I did not comment on your post it was not because it was not worthy of comment I just ran out of time. Love every one of you, and so enjoy all your posts.

hugs, with extras. till later.

Our County Fair started off with a bang. The head of the carnival was setting up rides and was standing on the top of the water slide as it was being moved into position. He ended up hitting 2 electrical lines, was knocked off the slide by the shock, fell and broke his back. The accident also fried the main transformer and the fair was without power the first night and had to be closed. It can only get better there.

That's kind of you Heidi. A dog would be good. I cant concentrate well enough to do this sort of thing. The drs tell me my head won't be so confused when I am on dialysis full time but I am trying to keep off that for now - stable at 9% kidney function for nearly 2 months - whoopee!! This is all thanks to a local private hospital and misdiagnosis so I now tell everyone to get a second opinion. How lucky for the head of the carnival - could have easily been worse.
Good luck Suzy with your 16yr old. When my D was 16 I took her and 2 friends to Sydney to see HIM at Luna Park - met them after the ferry ride back to Circular Quay. We did the same trip for another 2 years running - it was great and became our 'special' time away.MizTricia - I don't envy you having to pack. I am trying to de-clutter and my house looks like a bomb has hit it. There hasn't been anything done to the house since I became ill and no-one else seems to notice the junk lying around. I actually filled 4 large bags for the op-shop from the linen press and think I could probably do even more! Outside the dog has run rampant, the weeds have taken over, the pool is the wrong colour and work beckons - it never ends!

Rolanda - I had the fortune to visit Perth in July - and was very impressed. It was for business but I had time to catch up with some cousins who have been pressing me for years to visit. They are from Mandurah and Esperance and we met in the city and did some sight-seeing - a thoroughly enjoyable time. My sister and I plan to visit again in the next couple of months before my wings are clipped. Perth is such a lovely city - so laid back compared to Melbourne.

Midge...sooooo cold! And what am I doing I hear you ask? Defrosting the freezer! 8-I

My hubby has been on dialysis for over two years now and has never looked back. He had the fistula done preemptively a year before.
He got so sick, and it was sort of up to him as to when he started dialysis as to how ill he felt, and he was just about ready to 'give in' as he thought of it then, when circumstances took the decision out of his hands. He got so ill and so full of fluid that he ended up with pneumonia, and his creatinine levels soared so he was booked in for dialysis the following week. After his first session of haemo (only two hours at the beginning) he came out of the unit a different man! I had not seen him so full of life in a long time. Now he is doing it at home, mainly nocturnally, and we get on with our lives.

Hi, Fellow Sudokuaholics! Before I start reading tonight, I thought I'd mention that the seminar we're helping with starts officially Friday morning, but set-up and registration completion starts around noon tomorrow. I don't want anyone to be concerned if you don't see me. I'll pop in when, and if, I can. We've been working our fingers to the bone in the house this week so far, as D and SIL (and new miniature schnauzer puppy) may be here for a day or 2 of the weekend. (Well, mostly overnight, I think.) We may pass each other coming and going, but it will make their weekend much easier and less driving if they can stay here with us.

Heidi, I'm glad you had the concrete well covered, as I'm sure you're correct about heavy rainfall if you hadn't! I'm also very glad you and Robert got an early start this morning so you could avoid the most intense heat and humidity! You certainly got a lot done today to have all the posts set in concrete and some of the panels attached!

MizT, I'm glad you got your 8 hours of sleep, even if it didn't start and end at a more standard time.

June, have fun at the 4-day carnival at the bowling club! I imagine you (and Laura) had fun when you joined her for lunch at school!

Heidi, how unfortunate about the injury to the head of the carnival. While a broken back is certainly not a minor injury, it could have been SO much worse coming in contact with electrical wires! I hope he was taken to the hospital you prefer and wish him well with his recovery.

Rolanda, I hope the lunch with your Auntie and your sister went well! Did you spend time reminiscing and sharing memories?

Midge, it's great getting to know you! I'm sorry for you medical issues, especially if they're due to a missed or incorrect diagnosis! You must be carefully following a diet to remain stable at 9% kidney function!

I am headed off to bed now. Sending lots of prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} healthy vibes, , and positive thoughts for everyone!

Gail, we prefer to defrost our freezer when it's cold. That way we can just pile things from the freezer into boxes in the garage. Once the freezer is defrosted, we refill the freezer with frozen items that haven't even begun to thaw. Unfortunately, we didn't get it done over the winter. That's partially because we have the top layer of D and SIL's wedding cake in the freezer. (Their first anniversary is next week.) They had no idea when they got married that they'd be living here now.

Good evening folks.
Today I met with an amazing massage therapist. I'm really hoping he will be able to work wonders with me.. he is optimistic. Went through a VERY detailed medical history. Need to get my foot assessed to check alignment before he works on that. I think it will really help with my hip.
Only problem is his practice is out of action.. repairs and his out of hours appointments are fully booked. He does have time for day visits once I have room to set up his portable table in my front room. At the moment all the furniture is on one side of the room awaiting Telstra tech. I hope I don't have to wait another 6 weeks now I have found someone I want to work with.. Keeping fingers crossed for a cancellation
