'Put on some lipstick, pour yourself a drink and pull yourself together' - some good advice from Elizabeth Taylor. there's been times in my life where I needed this advice.

G'afternoon...

Not getting far with reading comments.. your unerring observation has got me Tricia. Have to comment.

Feelings..yep..the poverbial understatement. Have known him for more than half my life.. we married in 1981 and knew each other 2-3 years before then.. not sure now.. so long ago that it is hard to recall a part of my life where he isn't playing a major part.. for the first couple of decades it was wonderful and we sailed though many a storm with ease.

When the $hit started to hit the proverbial and I knew that we weren't going to be together for ever it nearly broke my heart. That was over a decade ago. I've been patient [too busy with family demands..L'ie, BF, FIL, mum, MIL, brother..to be otherwise.. so much grief!!] and allowed him the time to realise what he needs in life. We were inadvertently destroying each other in the end. I didn't like the person that I was becoming.. in a nutshell I was dying inside. Partly due to him.. partly due to the toll that the grief and loss in my life has taken. Not to mention my health.. We don't always love people in life that are good for us.

Tricia I will probably be seeing about the same amount of him.. he takes Lachie flying most Sundays. We have all suffered because of the final wedge that drove us apart.. but probably none more than him because he also has had the guilt to deal with. I hope he learns from it so his next relationship is enriched because of it. he is far from stupid so I am sure he will.
I certainly have been. I can't say I have no regrets about how I have handled things but wouldn't change the learning journey I have been on. I'm in a pretty good place now and the future looks good.. lonely at the moment but good.. Life is love..

Time to get back to work and finish reading later.

Greetings and Salutations, Fellow Sudokuaholics! It has been a BUSY day here today! I spent the day doing laundry, updating membership data for the woodturning club, preparing things we need to take to the weekend symposium, getting a package ready to send 2 T-shirts to a couple from Texas who visited at our last meeting, etc. Hubby has been turning pens the entire day. Between us, we have 225 pens to donate for Pens for Troops. (I made 10 of them.) He made a pen from alabaster as a collaborative project with another member (who doesn't make pens) who turned an alabaster sphere and made a base for it to be the pen holder. He also has 3 or 4 pens and stands or cases to be donated to the 'Pen Pals for Paul' fund raiser to help a former club president who had a massive stroke a year ago and wasn't expected to live. (Paul is now walking with 2 canes.) We also need to get the house cleaned and organized, as D, SIL and new puppy may be staying for a few nights this weekend, not that we'll have much time to see them.

Gail, you and Nissa have the right attitude. Watch the Grand Prix with the 2 Scotts, even if you might 'rest your eyes' during part of the broadcast. I hope they were able to get to your house on time for dinner before the GP started. How was dessert?

Gail, I was going to hit the like button about Scott making bread, as well as the dessert!

To keep track of the two Scotts, you can't exactly call them senior and junior. Do they have different color hair or eyes? They could be Scott Brunette and Scott Blond or Scott Green and Scott Blue. I hope they don't both have the same last initial. One year when I was teaching, I had 3 Scotts in the same class, so they were Scott H, Scott M and Scott P. You could also address the younger Scott by his initials, as S.T. or S.W. (or whatever his last intial is. (My Mom and her mother were both Genevieve. We never thought to ask how they dealt with that.)

Heidi, you are amazing! You know exactly the right way to impress IH! Amazing! He was so impressed that he actually helped! Is there another store where you can buy the cement? If you don't have enough, will you need to only partially fill the holes and then go back when the store gets more to fill the holes? I hope tomorrow goes smoothly with you and Robert setting the posts and attaching the panels.

Theresa, no wonder you're aching! Three hours in a car in one day would be enough to do it to you. Add on the time at the fair with your grandies, but no shade and nowhere to sit! (I think girls tend to bicker more than boys, so I can't say their behavior is a complete surprise. However, it's quite annoying and tiring to deal with, I'm sure! I hope the Tylenol will be enough to help you get some restful/peaceful sleep! How are your in-laws? Have you worked out when you will be moving to help out with your FIL, if that is still the plan?

CynB, I'm so glad you and Col are feeling better! I can't imagine getting up at 3 a.m. on a cold winter mo

Stay tuned for part 2!

CynB, I'm so glad you and Col are feeling better! I can't imagine getting up at 3 a.m. on a cold winter morning. (Come to think of it, my Dad did that when he needed to work 2 jobs.) At least he has blue skies and nice weather to deal with!

Cyn, thanks for sharing Elizabeth Taylor's advice for the TOPP! Sometimes, that's what it takes!

Bean, it's no wonder you have had such a hard time. You have quite a history with your ex! In spite of all of the hard times you have dealt with, it's clear that there are strong feelings! Would it be easier for you if he met Lachie away from the house when they meet on the weekends to go flying? Would that make it any easier to deal with? I hope sometime in the future you both find someone to love who loves you, supports you, and complements the person you have become!

Good luck with the packing, Bean!

Time to head to bed! Sending lots of , positive thoughts, {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}, healing vibes and prayers for all to share!

Thought I'd have a read while I have a drink.
Heidi impressed with your plans, surprised & a little shocked at the 'help' you had.. nothing is impossible in this strange world we live in.

Hmm.. no post yet about Scotts souffle..just as well..probably should have a full stomach to read that..

Cyn.. the 'date' worked out as I hoped.. providing he was sincere about being friends..have received 2 emails since then so I suspect he is.. nice to have someone to have coffee and chat with .. I was feeling better today until I read Tricia's post above .. it was a blessing because it was cathartic. I have bottled so much for SO long.. it has made me physically ill. We will NOT go anywhere near my mental status.. No comment from the Dag's ..ok? no need to state the bleedin obvious!

Heidi I'm glad to hear that you have are not suffering illeffects after the work..and that you have some solitude.. 24hrs is better than nothing..

News is on.. owner of pitbull that mauled a toddler to death received a $11,000 fine.. what a joke! Laws were quickly ammended and today he could have ended up with a 10yr sentence.

P 477 here I come... after I've rattled some pots and pans.. BRB..soonish...

It is easier when Lachie spends the night over there and they leave from his place.. not going to be a regular happening anytime soon tho while he is still working 6 days a week.. he has so little time at home.
Now I am outta here..

Hi everyone, I've read but couldn't even follow everything as I went let alone remember what I want to say... I know there was a lot of productive stuff, a lot of fun, some semi-sad stuff...Big hugs to those who need them, and another batch for those who just want them!

Today was the last day of my block. I made it through with the help of good-old Sudafed. I'm kind of deaf in one ear which made it very hard. I told the kids they had to yell when I called the roll so I knew they had answered me. Some couldn't bring themselves to do it and the second time I called their name they waved at me instead.

My speech thing happens every time I get over tired, and sometimes when I'm not. It has since the stroke and I haven't really talked to anyone about it. I suppose I should, though I don't think there is anything they can do.

Alie is doing a lot better. No pain killers so far today, which is fantastic since a few days ago she was doubling up with both panadol and nurofen (acetaminophen and ibuprofen for the americans) and still crying in pain, so she is going to try school tomorrow. I will be home so I can come and get her if it doesn't work out.

Dana and Tahli are doing better too. Still a bit snuffly, but nothing like last week!

Suzy, no fun having everyone ill. Hope you can get better now you have a few days at home. Suggest no one answers any early morning calls in case you get called to school for a day. Can happen with so many cold about.
Bean, leased you have been able to 'open up' here. We are a great group of people and it gives so much release. You have all helped me through hard times.
Gail, So pleased it is good news coming from Cockatoo. How about just Scott and Scotty?
You are inspiring me to start and get out my paint brush again.

Julie, you make me tired just reading all you do. You also seem to survive on very little sleep.
Heidi, that fence is a big achievement but at least I know you work like me and space yourself. You also drop by the computer when you need a break, much the same as I do.
I must tell you Laura's comment when Belinda told her that her dog Inca had died. 'That's OK Auntie Belinda. Inca is now in Heaven with Mummy and Mummy will look after her'. It was enough to just about bring Belinda undone. Fortunately they were talking on the phone so Laura could not see Belinda upset.

Morning friends. I have read and thought about each of you, not sure I can remember to comment. Hum, perhaps a cup of coffee would help??

Joy came over yesterday afternoon. we spent 4 hours sorting and tossing. I sent 3 large plastic trash bags, the 30 gallon sized, out of my house. Will make that last minute packing much easier.

Joy has taken 3 vacation days around her birthday, August 22, and offered her services for the weekend and 2 of the days, but not her birthday hehehe. It would be great if moving day could be Monday the 21st. We would have the weekend to finish last minute packing, and then Monday afternoon and Tuesday to get me set up where I can live as I finish unpacking boxes. I must see what Linda at EP has in mind for my move-in day.

June, what a sweet thing for Laura to say, but oh how hard for Belinda to hear.

SUZY, happy to hear that Alie and all of your sick family seems to be better. No is your time to rest and recover. Take care of yourself, your family needs you.

HEIDI, hope you enjoyed your 24 hours of peace with Gil gone. I am amazed he helped with the fence panels, he surprises us all like that on occasion. Can you photograph the new fence when finished> I cannot picture it in my mind.

Theresa, glad you are feeling some better, No shade and no place to sit does not seem very inviting, you did good to stay as long as you did.

CynB, I cannot understand how some siblings seem to get along without bickering and others, it is constant. Be glad at least 2 of your grandies do not biker.

OK, coffee is ready, time to have a cup and get awake and ready to do something. Still so much to do.

Neighbor came over last night bringing me a couple of eggplants and some okra. She left with a box of books both sister and I have read. I think that was a good trade. I might make eggplant lasagna soon.

Did I say that I found a small drop leaf dining table and 2 parson's chairs and a bookcase online that I want for apartment? Here, my bookcase is built in, and I do need a place for books and other things. I need to see why my bank card is not working, I think I will go by bank and check that out today. These things are order online have sent to store, Target, and Joy will have the job of putting them together for me. I have never ordered furniture online before, something new for me. I read all the reviews and did not see any major problems with the items I want to order. I guess there is a first for everything hehehe.

Hugs to each of you,, with extras. Till later.

Can't share this on facebook as I am friends with a woman in this kind of situation. I told you about her. She genuinely fears for her safety and yet he could get out after serving 6 months of a 3 year sentence. They are working with her on security - they think that's necessary but are still going to let him out??? I have tremendous respect for her for pressing charges against him in the first place, but now she is at risk because of it! Wrong wrong wrong!! She has an AVO, waste of paper!

MizT.... I do most of my shopping online. I recently bought 2 new shelves for storing DVDs... each holds 150 of them. They were fun to put together... just like doing a jigsaw puzzle, but you get something useful afterwards. I wish you luck with the bank card. I refuse to have one, or do my banking online, because I worry about someone accessing my account. I try to make it as hard as I can for the lowlifes.

Suzy... I know I sounded unsympathetic when you mentioned Dana's new friend in the abusive situation. I wasn't putting down her danger, and it is massive danger, I was just concerned that Dana has gotten involved and could be putting herself, and possibly even Tahli, in danger from retaliation by this unbalanced man. You hear about cases when these men attack everyone around their targeted victim. Innocent friends can get killed as well.

We have just got back from the vets with Callie, fortunately nothing was wrong. We thought she might have had a hernia following her op last week.
Whilst we were sitting in the waiting area one of the receptionist was on the telephone to one of the local councils. She was trying to get someone to take responsibility for a puppy which had been brought into the surgery that morning.
Two women were out horse riding in a village near were I live. They saw someone stop a brand new BMW car and throw something out of the car, then drive off. They went to see what it was, to their horror it was a badly beaten up Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Somehow, I'm not sure how, the got it to the vets. The pup is about 4 months old guessed by the fact he still has lots of his puppy teeth. He is in deep shock, has a broken leg, broken teeth and probably broken ribs. The vet has operated on him and he is in intensive care sedated with morphine. The next 48 hours is crucial. What disgusts me is that the RSPCA will have nothing to do with the animal, apart from saying they will pick him up and take him away to be put to sleep. Fortunately our vets have told them where to go, and have actually spoken to the newspaper. 1.They are asking if anyone knows who these monsters are and 2. Highlighting the stance of the RSPCA who are always trying to get money out of us to help these unfortunate animals.
Both my daughter's purse and mine came away a lot lighter than we went into vets and another customer added to what we had given to help care for the pup.

Brenda, that is so sad. I wish those people could be found so somebody could throw THEM out of a moving vehicle!!!

Julie, my inlaws are about the same, except my MIL has taken 60 steps with a walker, so that's wonderful. Once she can dress herself and get to the bathroom by herself, they will let her go home. Hubby has put in for a transfer to a location closer to his parents' place. I will not be going anywhere until there is a door put at the top of the stairs and one of the rooms upstairs cleaned out. It is full of furniture that is being stored for hubby's sister, his nephew, and others. I need the door so I can bring my cats there; the cats can't go downstairs in case they end up tripping my inlaws by rubbing up against them while they are walking. I think once his parents are gone (and I hate to think of that day) we will move back to our home that we're in now and just go to the farm on weekends. It all depends on the transfer and when renovations can get done. The powder room downstairs needs to be renovated to include a sit-in shower so my inlaws don't have to go upstairs at all. Things seem to be moving very slowly. Veterans' Affairs (federal government department) is paying for the renovations to the downstairs bathroom, and things seem to be moving very slowly. Hubby's dad was in the navy during the Second World War and he is entitled to assistance in order to be able to stay in his own home.

Brenda.... I become infuriated over people treating animals that way. If that had been a human instead of a dog, the public outrage would be deafening. But that poor pup also has the stigma of being a ''pit bull'' (no such breed, only a type) so people don't care what happens to it. There is no such thing as a dog being born vicious. They have to be abused to be that way. Yet people then say it's the dogs fault and want to destroy it just for being a breed that is commonly abused. It makes me sick, and ashamed to be the same species as those people.

Hi all.
Another very cool but beautiful day coming up here.

I also find it very upsetting to hear of animal abuse. It makes you wonder how they treat people too.
Unfortunately, the RSPCA probably dont have the funds to pay for the treatment for many animals, except for putting it out of its misery.Kind Vets are out of pocket with all they do and then have to find it a home.More time and money.

June...what a beautiful little girl Laura is!

MizT...you seem to be getting a little bit done each day and making a dent in the packing and tossing without over doing it.Buying the furniture online must be a bonus as you dont have to go out shopping from store to store for what you want.

Bean..it was lovely to read your posts.I hope you find a companion and can settle happily together.

Gail..as June said, your achievements make me want to paint as well. Not my place though but the rental.Son is hoping to buy his own place soon and he rents our investment property.Either we sell it or rent it again and it will need some sprucing up to do that.

Suzy...glad the family are getting better and that you have finished the block with the help of sudafed. I hope Dana's friend will stay safe!

Cyn...pour yourself a drink and pull yourself together was good. The lipstick. I couldn't be bothered. hehe

Mama..I do hope the eczema itch has improved and each day,you feel a little stronger.

Heidi..add diplomacy and psychology to your many traits in getting IH to help with the fence. Wishing you a cooler day to get it up but doubt if that will happen.

Got to go as I am cold and I have much to do that will warm me up. See you soon.

Fortunately the people who found the pup have shown an interest in taking him on. If not one of our friends is on the committee of a Staffie breed club, they will help with the vets fees and would find a home for him too. So sad that some humans exist! It is very possible that the pup was used as a fighting ring bait, given that it was thrown from a new vehicle, apparently dog-fighting is a very lucrative business :(
I really don't want to get into the dangerous breeds debate because my view of pitbulls and staffies will differ to most, but we have just had a court trial wrap up here yesterday fining a dog owner $11000 after his animal got out and mauled a toddler to death. A pittance for a life...

Some sad reading on this page today!
June - That is sweet that Laura put her Mum and the dog together in heaven, probably made her feel a bit better - but also heart-wrenching for Belinda to hear.
Suzy - thanks for the link, it's disgusting that fellow could be out after only 6 months and domestic restraining orders aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Time and time again it turns into disaster.
Oh Brenda - that poor puppy. I hope they find those people (or oxygen thieves as my hubby would call them)!

Suzy, I watched the video and read the article on the link you provided. Sadly it doesn't say anything we didn't already know. I guess some women fear for their lives so much, and the lives of their children, that they stay with their partner. What a sad state of affairs indeed.

Heidi, a friend posted a picture on Facebook of horses running and it said, 'Horses are like potato chips, you can't have just one.' It made me think of you.

I was helping a neighbour trying to find their cat - a dark grey male named Pippy with only one eye. She thinks he got out last night when she let her dog out for his final business before bed. I have wandered around our property and looked and called him, and I guess I'll be doing that until he's found. The neighbours know I feed feral cats, so whenever a cat goes missing they come to see me.

Well, it's only just after 8:00 PM but I think I will soon head to bed. I am aching so badly I can barely walk right now. I'm thinking a good night's sleep will certainly help.

Brenda -good on you for helping that poor puppy and shame on the RSPCA - they appear to be treating animal welfare as a business rather than a charity. Our laws here on animal cruelty are so ineffectual- we should be like some states in the US where the offenders are actually jailed. Bean - keep it up - one day at a time - my brother and sister have both been in similar situation to you and it does get better. Suzy I watched the show on domestic violence and was apalled to find out for 'intent to murder' you can get jailed for 12 yrs but for actual murder, you can get out in 6 yrs! Also the lack of refuge assistance - absolutely disgraceful. Theresa - what a big job you are taking on - good on you! Had better get back to work or I will have to fire myself for wasting office time. Cheers to all.

It is 2:30 am, and a severe thunder storm is headed for us, under severe thunder storm warning for the next hour. I see lightning all around me, but so far, the storm is dissipating as it enters our county, it is OK with me it this continues. I do not like thunder storms in the middle of the night, especially now that I am here alone. I have candles already lit, do not like to be in the dark if power goes out, either. Hi folks.
Frustrating day..waiting for Telstra technicians all day.. we were told 24 hrs on Saturday...

Suzy that link although not surprising is disturbing... I could write a book on my reaction and why but will spare you all.. I really do NOT know what the answer is other than filling our jails.. there is little disincentive for perps but do believe that if someone is determined or hell bent on homicide then they will find a way.

Nola & Midge..thank you but I am happier and in a better place now than I have been for a decade. Life is good. Not in a big hurry to make any major changes on the relationship front... despite being sick of always paying the single supplement.. Would love someone to travel with..

Brenda I am disgusted and think people like that do not deserve the right to breathe.. Gail and I have both alluded to the case in our courts yesterday. What neither of us informed you, for those that don't know the story, was that child was in her own home clinging to her mothers leg as she was attacked. The dog broke free and ran straight in their front door.. most people feel safe in their own home..

I am concerned that no amount of care and TLC will undo the imprinting on this poor pups psyche..will it ever be truly trusting of mankind..will it retaliate to 'stress' in a viscious manner when older. What do you think Heidi..you know more about dogs than I.

Impressive amount of trash you are getting rid of Tricia. Well done.
I will return..

Evening all,
Brenda, how awful! I'm glad you were there to help. I'm not surprised about the RSPCA. Our local pound is run by the RSPCA and I used to work with some people who had as a part of their job dropping animals off there. They used to sneer cynically about the life expectancy of male animals there. I was shocked as I had thought of the RSPCA as an organisation that was there to save animals, but apparently not. I know the people I worked with wished the RSPCA would lose the contract!

Dana has brought yet another bug into the house! It's a stomach bug!! Nooo!!!

I didn't get enough rest today and although I've read, my brain is not working well enough to do you all justice.

((((( HUGS ))))) Broni

We worked until it hit 90 F, then gave up for the day. I'm going to rest for a few hours, then go pick up the rest of the concrete. We're planning on setting the last posts at 9 am tomorrow. This heat has really slowed down the job. But I can't enjoy my animals if I put myself in the hospital.
