Heidi - let's hope he turns up when he is hungry. If Jack is scared of people it might be a while before he shows himself.
Nola - my heart goes out to you.

Hi everyone!
Sorry I haven't been around much. I've had a relapse and been back in bed since Saturday. I'm worrying my mother because it's a virus and they can't treat it with anything. Mothers!! She checks up on me every day. I have told her that I will be going to work tomorrow. This is our busiest week of the year with a trad show this weekend (I won't be going this year). There is so much to be done and I need to be there for at least a few hours each day.

Nola, I'm sending prayers for you and Judy.

Heidi I hope Jack turns up soon. That is such a worry when he doesn't know the area and also is afraid of people. Poor fellow!
I'm glad that Robert took his sacking so well. It could have been really difficult otherwise. Will you try to get a new employee?

I must go. We are having tacos for tea and I need to start organising. They take no time to eat but so long to prepare all the sides to have on them.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Heidi, big {{{HUGS}}}.

Vicky, hope you feel better soon.

Back to school today. I really enjoyed my 3-day weekend except for being stuck in the house with the beastie boys.

Hubby and I are not long back from an evening 'gail'! It is not very often that we get to go out of an evening, makes it seem so much posher and nicer than going out for lunch. Hannah stays at a friend's place quite often during the week as it is a lot closer for college, so she was out tonight, and Tuesday Beth goes to someone's place to watch some ditzy show on cable! What does one do when one has the chance? Go out instead of cook! His suggestion :) We have now tried two different Indian restaurants within twenty minutes drive, and it is hard to choose between the two which is better, so we shall divide our custom.
A little more of the painting has been done, another small section of the woodwork in this room (our lounge), the main room (Kitchen/living room) and I have started painting the cupboards in the kitchen. Will upload a couple more photos once I have posted.

I too was hoping to see that Jack was home.

Foot Clinic appointment went well. Hubby took time off work to drive me. Circulation is fine, nerves are fine. The doctor thinks the pain is because my blood sugars have been kind of high ... who knew that that could cause foot problems that way. I have another appointment mid-September. She 'made' me an orthotic and wants me to wear these shoes as much as possible, and then when I go back next month she can judge which 'man made' orthotic I should purchase. Really nice group of people. The receptionist also does manicures and pedicures and she told me that if the weather is bad on my next appointment, she will come and pick me up!!! How's that for small town service? I also found out for the first time in 60 years that when I stand, my toes do not touch the ground. I have an insert in my shoe to stretch the foot so that the toes are forced down. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? She trimmed my toenails. All I paid was the initial $70 assessment fee and no extra charge for the toenails or the home-made orthotic. She also filed down my toenails because they are very thick. Wow, I'm impressed!

So... How are the feet feeling now, Theresa? Have you gotten the blood sugars down yet? (We always knew you were extra sweet.) Bean thought it was the blood sugar level that was causing all that foot pain. The Bean knows whereof she speaks!

Jack doesn't know that this is home. He won't return here on his own. Our Rescue leader told me that this has happened to her before, too. She was very surprised that Jack pulled it, though.

Heidi, I can soooo relate to how you must be feeling. Hopefully Jack will be found safe and sound and returned to you. Fingers crossed.

My feet are still killing me!!!! I still can't walk much right now, but hopefully in a few days it will settle down. At least I know it's not an infection or nerve damage or anything like that. My late sister-in-law died of complications due to diabetes and started having toes of one foot amputated, and then eventually amputated just below the knee ... then the toes of the other foot got involved and before you know it it was game over. I had that in the back of my mind, so I am somewhat relieved, even if the pain is still there. A lot of it is just how you look at it. Yes Gail, it is what it is!

I also came here looking for news of Jack.

Theresa, having your blood sugar go haywire is not good. It caused eye problems for my mom before she got her blood sugar under control. When her blood sugar was regulated, her eyes went back to normal. She is really strict about what she eats.

JACK RETURNED!!!!!!!!

I am ecstatic! I have him in the house now, and he won't go outside for a few days without a leash until I feel really comfy.

Don't keep us hanging Heidi, did he return on his own? Did he come to your door, meet you outside, did someone drive him over? Inquiring minds want to know ... or at least I do.

HEIDI, so happy that Jack came back on his own. Don't you wish you knew where he had been? Do you think he jumped the fence? Was Gil home around the time Jack left? I can imagine Gil letting the dog out accidentally, through his negligence with closing the gate.

Gil was out of town when Jack first arrived. So he is innocent of this. No, Jack jumped the fence. I've never had a collie jump it before, but it is physically possible. It's only a meter high. I have found that if a dog is very determined, they can climb fences twice that height. I have seen 2 of my collies do that, but not to escape. Just to get into mischief.

Off to bed. Jack is asleep in my bedroom right now, and I hope he accepts my presence. IH is going out of town tomorrow morning, and will be gone 2 1/2 days. I'm gonna enjoy this.

Such good news, Jack is back!!! What a smart dog to do the unexpected. Hope he settles in so well that he never considers leaving again.
Theresa - so pleased that your foot problem is diagnosed and on the way to being sorted.

It's done!! WooHoo!
I have finished the album for Karin. I just submitted and paid for it so now all I have to do is wait for it to be prepared, processed and sent to me in 10 working days max. Plenty of time before her party on 22nd Sept.

He made it through the night with no accidents inside, though he wouldn't stay in the bedroom when I was in there. This morning, after going out on a leash, he's hovering in my vicinity, which is a good thing. He does want to be my friend, but doesn't know how. I think a few tidbits, like warm bacon, might help let him know that I think he's special. It's obvious that he's never been a house dog, but with his brains, I think he'll adjust. It took a year for Timmy to approach anyone but me. And IH.
