Woo Hoo Heidi and Mama! I'm seeing that Obama is predicted to win. Such good news for the rest of the world. And Mama, the rich people here want to control Australia and unfortunately already control our media and so many people will believe anything they see on TV or read (if they can) in the paper.

Sorry went over the page and had to find an appropriate quote!
'Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for ... we are the change we seek'

Col has to do that trip. I am not happy, he will be away 2 nights. Worse than that, he only agreed to do it yesterday because the usual ones who do the longer trips didn't want to do it or had 'commitments'. So did Col, but he agreed to do it, now he's being blanked by the others because he got the it. Honestly, whoever said women were the b!tchier ones obviously never worked with a lot of men!!

My neighbour's neighbour will be very happy. Mary-Lou had her 'Obama' poster on the footpath.

I'm glad he won too!

Judy, my husband turns on the TV before he goes to work specifically to watch Ben 10!

Cyn, he needs to get stuck into the men who turned it down and then turned on him! Wake up their brains for a minute...

I think it disgusted and shocked a lot of people how everything was blocked so ultimately Obama would fail (Reps hoped!), and surely will not allow nor accept that happening again...I hope...

OTS a guy was ranting because the UN were going to monitor the US election. They have no right he said! I said: So they can monitor other countries but not the US? Either they can monitor elections or they can't, we don't get to choose which elections. I didn't say: From some of the news stories I've been reading, monitoring sounded like a good idea to me!!!

Just popping in to say Hi to Everyone! I am relieved that the election is finished, and must admit to some worry over the last few weeks. Let's hope the citizens (AND politicians) of the U.S. can come together and work as a unit to accomplish much of what was promised during the months leading up to the election! My concern is that we have become so deeply divided that little progress will be made. I hope I'm wrong! I think our country needs a lot of prayers and self-less actions to make necessary changes and improvements!

Sending lots of {{{{HUGS}}}}, , positive thoughts, prayers, and healing vibes for all.

Julie - wise words about the citizens coming together. I hope it happens because what happens in the US ultimately affects the rest of the world.
Suzy - Col's co-workers are the type who are there for the pay packet, not to actually work.

Woke up to good news for the world! That other one just scared the bee-jeebers out of me!

I had my appointment at the foot clinic yesterday. Got my feet massaged, moisturized, nails clipped. All seems to be well, and I have to say my feet have been pretty good ... the pain really only starts if I have been on my feet a long time or if I have been walking on concrete (even shopping). I am a happy camper. Now, if only the rest of my body would start cooperating ........ one step at a time. I have a feeling my 'cavorting' days might be over.

What??? No more cavorting? What a bummer! I am glad your feet are doing better.
I can only begin to imagine what diabetics go through with their feet, and I hope I never experience it for myself. I had a diabetic friend whose feet got so bad that they both had to be amputated. Horrible!

My bull, Rede, went through a fence at the back of the property, and got in with the neighbor's cows. He had a fun time breeding them before he was spotted. I've got him back home now, and in with the horses. Their fences are bull proof, I hope.

Hubby has gone with D to pick up the oldest grandie at school. She fell asleep and when they woke her she was very listless. D said she has been sleeping well lately, so she figures it was either a seizure or her new meds are affecting her adversely. I see a doctor's appointment in the near future for her. Poor little tyke!

Heidi, I will now only cavort in locations where people don't know me!

MizT..your health seems to be up and down and still you are cheerful and getting about.Glad you are settling in ok,cooking and socializing.

I dont know a great deal about Aussie politics let alone the US.Good to hear that most of you are happy with the outcome though.

Judy had an naturopath appoint.then an optomitrist appoint who organized an emergency Eye specialist appoint. for today. He thinks she has had a bleed behind the eye causing blurred vision and headaches. I will let you know the outcome.
I take Sonny in for injections and micro-chipping this morning. Never a dull moment.

THE NEW JOB. I saw 9 patients, the first 4 with another nurse.Had computer probs.Just when I felt a bit of confidence, the bgl machine needed new batteries (where do I get them from)and I kept forgetting where to find things on the program that I have never seen before. The scariest was calling patients into the exam room. hehe.
I just hope I can remember when to right click to transfer the patient to the waiting area for the Dr. Oh my goodness. I will get there.

Meeting to decide foster babys future on hold.Close family member killed in car accident.
Honest to god,I could write a book and no one would believe it.

Take care all.

Nola, I believe before the 17th century all carrots were purple. they tasted really good.
We have been out in Breda this afternoon and evening and had a meal in a Sushi restaurant. We could have had at least another two rounds from the menu but we were stuffed to the gills on what we had. For some reason while we have been here we haven't woken up until 9:30, tomorrow we will have to set an alarm as we have to leave for home. We are calling in at Carrefore (big French supermarket)on the way home to stock up on wine etc for xmas. Hopefully will find some gifts too.

Brenda..that is really interesting about purple veg. As a child we had purple beans that my grandmother grew which tasted very good. Now you see purple cauliflower, sweet potato and a few others that I cant think of.
Talking about tasty things, have you heard about the benefits of grating a whole frozen lemon, skin and all onto your salad and fish. It is meant to be very beneficial in the diet for fibre and nutrients.

Good morning all! For some strange reason I woke up at 5:30am. Maybe because hubby had to be at work at 6 - he had already left.

Cyn, you asked about our trip to Tassie.
We started with 4 days in Hobart (venturing south to Huon Valley, day trip to Bruny Island and a trip to Strathgordon to the Gordon River dam) then on to Port Arthur. We went on the ghost tour (highly recommend it) and visited the memorial there (very uncomfortable feeling and couldn't stay - Kevin felt the same).
We then headed north staying at Swansea and St Helens and visiting Wine glass bay (beautiful), Bicheno (I wish we had stayed there) and the Bay of Fires (similar to the coast south of there so it was a bit ho-hum).
Then it was on to Launceston (we did the washing and didn't see much except the gorge which was beautiful). From there it was on to Devenport via Cradle Mountain - what a truly divine place. It had snowed in the previous few weeks so our trek around Dove lake involved snow fights and slipping on the boardwalk. We are definitely going back there. We then went via Wynyard (tulip festival was held on 13th October so still lots of tulips around) to Stanley via a trip to Arthurs River on the west coast. Stanley is beautiful - we went up the nut on the chair lift but had to walk down. We also did a penguin tour later that night. Beef cheeks at the pub for dinner were magnificent. I'm trying to find a recipe for them.

Tassie Pt 2.
After Stanley we headed south to Straun for a trip up the Gordon river - magnificent. It started to rain and didn't stop until we had been through Queenstown and stopped at Derwent Bridge (mid Tassie). At Derwent Bridge we went to Lake St Claire (apparently there is a mountain at the end of the lake but the clouds were so low we couldn't see it). We also visited 'The Wall' where there will be a 100 metre wood sculpting of the history of Tassie. It's still a work in progress but is absolutely magnificent - due to be completed in 2015.
From there it was back to Hobart, last visit to the Salamanca markets and then home.
The weather was wonderful most of the time. Nearly always sunny by afternoon and anywhere between 3C (at 7am on the top of Mt Wellington) to around 20C at St Helens.
So that was our holiday. Definitely not long enough. Next time we think we'll start at Launceston and at least do an overnighter at Cradle Mountain, stay a day or 2 at Bicheno and then travel the main highway to Hobart. We need to visit MONA and go back to The Wall. Maybe next year!

Hi all, Where to start...well, for one I'd like to say how wonderful it was to have so many of you following and cheering us along as we went through the election process here. It was also so good to know how supportive the international groups were of the final results...so...Thank you all.
Nola, So good to read your newsy post and to learn that Judy was getting the emergency eye doctor to find a possible reason for her blurred vision and headaches...hope all works out for her..I know it will make you feel better too.
Vicki, your trip sounds full and busy...glad you had great weather for the most part that allowed the holiday to go so well. I too am a bit envious. Please tell me what are beef cheeks? and how are they prepared? I like beef but never heard of that particular cut before..perhaps we call it something else.
Heidi...perhaps your neighbor will share if any caves are a result of your bull's fun escapade. Hope he will stay home and take care of those you select in the future..lol.
I stayed up most of the night watching the election outcome so will call it an early night tonight I think.
Suzy...I now have Steven Pinker's book on my kindle..will let you know how I find it once I get around to it..Of course I bought several books and I know I need to stay away from overloading my reading to just the current read since I already have about 15 hardbacks unread...seems I'll be spending more time reading than the computer to catch up....I just couldn't resist...lol! Take care all, and stay well and happy if possible...Peace.♥

Along with several other kinds of carrots, we have planted purple carrots this year as well...tell you what they are like in two months!

Mama, beef cheeks are exactly what they say, the cheeks (facial) of a cow. They are slow cooked, VERY in many cases, similar to oxtail or lamb shanks, and become melt-in-the-mouth.

Good morning all
Vicki - thanks for the Tassie travelogue. We did almost the same in reverse order - driving down that hideous mountain into Queenstown. We didn't get to Bay of Fires and I was disappointed. If it was ho-hum that's good. Arthur River is near where eaa lives. What a lovely wild area - but couldn't live there, I'm a city girl! lol
We stayed with friends for a week at Kettering, where you would have got the ferry to Bruny. They are on top of the hill and command a great view of the area including the little harbour.
Ahh, makes we want to go again. Our friend down there is 50 soon and his party is 18/11. We wish we could go back for that, party is at the Asian Gourmet restaurant on the Pier at Hobart. Where better??

Theresa - he scared the beejeebers out of the rest of the world!!
Nola - best of luck to Judy, I hope they sort out her vision problem. And, don't worry, first few days of a new job are always the worst. This time next week you'll have it all under control.
Heidi - having a smile about Rede having his wicked way with the neighbour's cattle. Naughty bull!
Brenda - sounds like it's been a great time in Holland. I'd love to visit that store on the way back!
I've seen purple carrots in Coles, especially while Masterchef was on and they were using them in their cooking (as well as the varied coloured cauliflowers).
Powerball $20 million tonight - maybe we aimed too high on Tuesday. $100 million is too much, I'd settle for the $20 mill.

My Hayley has a boyfriend. OK, they're not dating, she's only 12, 13 in May, but they went to the school graduation dance last weekend and held hands and he bought her drinks (soft, of course). It's bad enough that Lachlan has had a girlfriend for months now.

Afternoon all,
Almost typed morning but looked at the clock first. I'm pleased with today. I got the shopping done and unpacked, the dishwasher loaded and I finished the Lighthouse! So I got ffuts done and something I enjoyed - a perfect morning.

This afternoon I'm meeting Alie in town to try to confirm her work experience, then Dana is driving us to Albion Park (she still needs over 40 hours so asked if she could drive) for Alie to try out a second singing teacher. Fingers crossed but I think we'll be looking for another one...

Re all the election comments. I read a comment under one of those meme things... this woman almost couldn't vote because they kept asking her to prove not only that she was who she said she was, but that she lived where she said she lived, she made it by a few minutes. The twist - the person who turned her away lived across the road and had known her for about 20 years!

I love that other meme that's going around - the one about moving to Australia - no guns etc, and the atheist unmarried Prime Minister. Helping the poor does not make you a weaker country!

Theresa, you'd be miserable in our house - it's built on a slab, you'd never escape the concrete! I'm glad your feet are feeling so much better, being able to do normal, every day things must be wonderful!

Heidi, your neighbours will be happy with their calves and Rede is probably feeling pretty happy with himself too!

Theresa, sorry to hear about Grandie. From what Cyn has said before it could have been a seizure. Big hugs for her! For some reason I forgot that both of you have grandchildren who have seizures! Just hit me in the head with a big stick to get my brain working again..

Nola, I hope Judy gets good news - as in there is something they can do to help! Big hugs to both of you!

Tami, I wonder if they think if they count slower it will come out the way they want it to???

Brenda, I'm thoroughly enjoying your vacation vicariously through your posts... Hubby would love the sushi restaurant!

Vicki, I enjoyed hearing about your vacation too! And yours is closer to something I might get to do one day..

Cyn, Powerball is all yours. I only enter one night a week and the last two ozlotto draws were a rare exception. I'm going back to my usual minimum number of games on one night. Just enough so I can say 'when I win lotto I'll fly you all over here for a sudoku meet'... Yay for Hayley, a confidence boost for her I think. This is the good dating time, you don't have to worry about them yet!

Mamacita, please do tell me how you like the book. I'm going to try the second hand book place today to see if they have a copy..I'm absolutely stunned that Angelique will be 5 soon. I remember when she was born!
