I don't know about the rest of you, but I could do with some distractions right now. I've been wracking my brain for a daily anecdote, so here it is...

Daily anecdote: Yesterday at the talent quest the first performer promoted his next gig - he and a mate are doing pre-carols at Carols in the Park. I told Alie because I thought that was a coincidence. She asked me the boys name and ended up working out who he is. Turns out he was in the rock band with her at music camp and is in a band with a friend of hers. Small world! In another twist, he is in my roll call! I talked to him about the first coincidence. Later in the day he posted a hand drawn pic of Alie on her facebook page!! Not knowing that I had spoken to him at roll call, and not really knowing him that well, she was surprised to say the least!

Julie, what's worse is the teacher had been out for 4 or 5 days before I got her classes! I have worked out what they are all up to and only really have to work hard on working out what to do with one of them...

Suzy, it wasn't me!! I rarely do any of the lotteries (there are so many going now that it would take a small fortune to do them all. The shop where the ticket was bought is less than a mile from me, but I never go in there. In a way I am pleased that no one claimed the prize as it is now going to charity. Nobody needs £64 million, a couple of million could and does change lives forever.

Brenda, I'm the same. I buy a ticket in only one of the many variations we have... just enough to say 'when I win Lotto'. I've stood behind people who spend almost $100 for a weeks worth of tickets though.

Thanks Hawkmoon, for the update. ''As well as can be expected'' can be good. I hope the results of the biopsy come out benign, and Judy has a complete recovery. You both deserve it.

Another blah day here. It's raining fairly heavily right now, and is supposed to continue raining to various degrees for the next 4 days. We did need it, though.

Uh, oh. The surge protector/backup battery for my 'pooter has gone bad. I'm gonna have to get another one today, or I won't have any use of my 'puter. I won't use it without one. We have a LOT of power surges here, and IH fries at least one PC a year from not using a good surge protector. Since a good surge protector costs a lot less than a good computer, I think it's dumb to economize that way.

Mamacita, it's sooooo nice to see your posts again. Please take care of yourself.

It is a greyish day here, but no rain so far and the temp seems quite reasonable. I just got back from getting a few groceries, only to find out when I got home that there were other things I needed. So I will have to go back. Just wanted to drop in here first.

Today is my cooking day for hubby to have food to take down to his dad's tomorrow. They will be having spaghetti with meatballs, and a beef noodle casserole. I also have the grandies after school today, so I don't have a lot of time. They were not in a terribly good mood this morning, but I only had them for three-quarters of an hour.

Thanks Theresa....you take care not to overdo but I know you will do what must be done.
Heidi, I 'm fine...taking things slowly, but still want to do more and will not feel better until some kind of Christmas tree and stuff goes up to help feel like holiday time is here. It'll happen but trying to speed it up. Now get your surge strip so I can keep reading. Glad you had a great vacation too.
I'm outter here....

I stopped off at the computer repair shop on the way out to buy my Christmas tree and a wreath for the front door. I described what my surge protector is doing (I have a fancy one with a big back-up battery) ... beeping like a hyperactive cricket and flashing a red light... and he said that it means that the back-up battery needs to be replaced. He also said that the batteries cost more than the surge protectors themselves, new. He also said that these surge protectors usually only last 2 to 3 years, especially if they get as many hits as we do. I've had this one 6 years. So it's due to be replaced. I'll have to go to an Apple Store to get a new one (1 hour drive each way) , so he sold me an inexpensive surge protector that he said will take a few big hits safely, and I'll use it until I can get to the Apple Store. I really shouldn't go to theApple Store, though, because I do need to get a new iMac soon.

I really got a nice tree this year. Thick, full and perfectly symmetrical. I'm glad I didn't wait any longer to go get one. While I was still in the garden center (they had already tagged it as mine) several different people approached me and begged me to let them have that tree. There were quite a few other trees available, but this one is special.

I heard from Nola this morning. Her sister Judy is not in any pain. Nola doubts if she knows them now. She opens her eyes and smiles when they speak to her and squeezes their hand.
Loving thoughts going your way Nola.

Hi, Everyone!

Thanks for you TOPP, Suzy! Interesting coincidences at the Carols program.

Hawkmoon, we really appreciate your update on Judy! Our prayers for her and you continue! {{{HUGS}}} Keeping everything crossed as you await results of the biopsy.

Bean, what an interesting menu! I hope you enjoyed, since you'll be returning to healthier eating. An occasional splurge can make it easier to maintain the healthy part. Take care of yourself! {{{HUGS}}}

Heidi, hurray for the rain! I hope you get a good replacement surge protector quickly! I'm glad you will have something in place until you get to the Apple store! (We are thinking about a trip to our nearest Apple store, as our Mac is barely chugging along. It's about 8 or 9 years old, I think. We haven't been able to update it for several years, as it doesn't have enough memory.)

It's good to see your post, Mama! I hope you're continuing to feel better and more rested!

Theresa, don't you hate it when you get home from grocery shopping only to discover a few more things you REALLY need? I hope the cooking for your FIL goes well!

June, thanks so much for Nola's update on Judy. As Heidi said, it's good news that Judy is not feeling pain. Wish the same could be said for the rest of the family! Warm and gentle {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for Nola and family!

Heidi, I'm so glad you were able to find a very special Christmas tree this year! Enjoy it and the decorating process!

It's time to start considering bed-time preparations. Please feel free to share these {{{{{{ H U G S }}}}}}, positive thoughts, healing vibes and prayers! You are all so very special!

So much sadness....

Thought you could do with a bit of a light relief so I'm going to share something I just saw on facebook. But apparently I have to be careful since it got me banned... A new kids store is opening in town, toys and clothes. Great for me with a widdle grandie.. The location is the funny bit. There is a plain door right next to the shop which I'm not sure they realise is the entrance to the br0t3el upstairs. There are no identifying signs, 'everyone' just knows number 10 is a br0t3el. (Legal and regulated in Australia for the topsiders). Hubby found out almost the day he arrived in Australia, my brothers told him about it. Nice brothers huh? But that's another story...

I'm just imagining the blokes knocking on the door - and running away when a little kid sees them knocking imagining the kids knowing what they're up to!

I think I told you the story of Dana embarrassing a guy. I kind of told her off about it, but it was kind of funny (don't tell her I said that). She saw a bloke knocking in the middle of the day and so wheeled her pram up to him and said, 'sorry man, we're not open yet'. The poor bloke turned bright red and RAN away. She said she had been wanting to catch someone and say it for months! My kids have no shame! Alie has pretended to be g@y to embarrass the religion teacher... He deserved it, he brought guest speakers into a class with an openly g@y student to say that h0m0s3xu@lity could be cured through prayer.

It amazes me that there is still so much ignorance in so-called civilised societies, Suzy.

That was a brilliant joke Dana pulled! Br0th3ls may be legal there but they're still slimy and demeaning to women. Men who frequent them need to be embarrassed and humiliated. I don't understand why you told Dana off over it.

Hi all. Had a great time yesterday with the kids. They were really well behaved. I had fun on the way home. After the stop for dinner the Assistant Principal was making a few announcements on the bus. I went up to him and whispered, 'did you remember to remind the kids about the 2-page essay do Monday?' He said no. As he finished the announcements he reminded the kids about their homework. They all groaned. A few kids asked which teacher do they turn it in to? One even asked if she would get extra credit (they started to realize it was a joke) The AP promised anyone who really did it would get extra credit. I told him he better email me and tell me who actually did it. The person in charge of the trip told me I am already on the list for the next big field trip

Heidi, how many people do you think that guy will tell that Dana works at number 10 if he sees her in town? It makes her a target.

That's 6 little calves so far in the past few weeks. I'm thinking of them more as early calves than as late Fall calves, since moms won't be bred back until May, with the Spring calvers.

Suzy.... I don't believe that he thinks Dana works there. I think he just embarrassed him. Men who spend time at brothels are scum, anyways. She just drew attention to him, which he apparently didn't want.
