Nasty weather here. We have snow on the ground and it is currently freezing rain. I was supposed to have the girls before and after school, but the busses are cancelled. I don't know what they will be doing, but I already said I wouldn't take them for full days. Ooooops.

I decorated the tree yesterday. Hubby had already set it up and put the lights in. I don't think I will be doing much other decorating ... life is just too hectic. Besides, I just hate undecorating. Today I hope to get the cards done.

I got a letter from a dear friend who turned 80 this year. She used to be a neighbour until she moved away (about an hour's drive) about 10 years ago. She had a heart attack and was diagnosed with diabetes this year. I sooooo want to see her because I miss her very much. With hubby spending so much time with his parents (weekends and one day per week), I can't get around. When did life get so complicated? I will include a nice long letter in her Christmas card. Sigh ...........

Busy day. Tomorrow is our Bowls Christmas party. I made 4 plum puddings last week and have bought the ham and turkey (already cooked).I had also organised a competition and had to buy the prises. As I am in charge of entertainment I wrote a short script and organised all the costumes. No singing and dancing this year!
I do think I am all organised for tomorrow.
I have posted my cards (about 80). Laura put all the stamps on yesterday. My tree is up and over half the presents are wrapped and under the tree. Still have to buy for the immediate family.
I also have to make a cake and pudding.

Judy (Nola) and Judy from down south have both been on my mind a lot lately. Also thinking of Marlane and I do hope things work out for her.
Off to bed. Just hope I can get to sleep and not think too much about tomorrow!
(Just remembered I have not cut the puddings into slices...something I will have to do in the morning!)

I just found out that my appointment with the oral surgeon for the broken root removal, implant and bridge work is early tomorrow morning. My mouth may be a mess for the Cattlemen's Christmas banquet tomorrow night. I don't care. I really want that broken root out of there. It traps huge amounts of food, can't be cleaned out (my breath right now is nasty, though nobody will say anything), wobbles the whole bridge so I can't eat on that side of the mouth, and it hurts.

Hi folks.
Just passing through.
Hope your day is a great success June.... you amaze me.. This Christmas here may be no different to our last... cards not sent, cake & pudding unmade...

My goal is to finish off a few more rooms... or have a flushing toilet and handbasin in the bathroom.. The usual festive activities scarcely get a thought with everything else on the agenda..

Had a long chat with Dino yesterday... so good for helping me gain my equilibrium.. Sudoku folks are tops..
Have a good day everyone

I haven't purchased my cards yet, either, Bean. Whenever my mouth gets toxic it just makes me lose interest in everything. Hopefully, I'll start getting more inspired after tomorrow.

Hi all. Had a good day at school. Found out that several of my 'little darlings' have been given 10 days of extra vacation time. This was for causing a major disruption of school activities. Usually means fighting. They come back on the last day of school before winter break

Still waiting to hear about Marlane's surgery today. She is in California which is 3 hours behind me. Surgery is about 5 hours so I may not know anything until tomorrow. I wore her mom's scarf to school today so I would have a part of her with me.

Heidi, depends on the teacher. I don't give tests this year. My kids are all working on the computer. I usually do not give a test that day as a lot of kids are absent. If parents are going away, they will try to get an early start.

IH left for the plant around dawn, and was supposed to come back home early evening. It's 9 pm and he's not back, so I'm just gonna toss a pizza in the oven for myself. He makes it so hard to plan meals. He doesn't know about my oral surgery tomorrow, either.

Greetings friends, thoughts and prayers to both our Judies, and for Tami's Marlean, Wishing the best for each of them.

It is turning cold here, temps were in mid sixties all through the rainy day, then started a steady drop, down to freezing tonight. Tomorrow's high will be lower than any of last weeks low, at 47F, My house has not cooled down, so I will go to sleep without turning on heat, if I find it cold when I get up for bathroom visit later, I can turn on heat then.

Second night in a row I have had soup for dinner. Started about 3 days ago with nausea. No vomiting thankfully but came very close several times. I shall be calling doc tomorrow, this started soon after I started antibiotics. ///////////while at his office about my power chair, I showed him this red hard knot on my breast bone. I had thought it was an insect bite, he did not think so, did not know what it started as, but said it was infected, hence the antib8iotics. Looked up the drug today, first on list of side effects, nausea, and stomach upset. Drats, I need to finish this 10 days of antis, but cannot tolerate the nausea. I have had oatmeal, coffee ( I am strange, coffee with milk stays down when other foods will not) diet sodas and the soup and crackers. Cannot finish the soup even save it for tomorrow. Nausea is a little thing to complain of, especially in light of what some of our members and friends are facing, but as Heidi can back me up on, it can be darn annoying.

I have made one of the gifts for Christmas. We were to bring a $10 gift for dirty Santa or take-away. I thought of something to make.

Missed the caroling choir tonight, just did not feel up to making my way down to commons for it.

I did my laundry here yesterday. First time to use front loading machines, boy they use a LOT less detergent!

I did read, forgot most of what was said. It is after 10 pm here, time I can go to bed. Might be a good idea fore these meds wear out.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

The temperature has dropped here, too, MizT. It was high of 70, low 50 yesterday..... and today was high of 42, and it's just below freezing right now.
I hope you get over the side effects soon, MizT. Nausea is not fun.

It's approaching 1 am, and I need to be up at 7:30, for the oral surgery. IH never showed up, nor did he call. Unfortunately, I don't believe that I'm lucky enough for him to have had an accident. I would have been called by someone if he had.

Hi, Everyone!

I like your TOPP, Suzy! Very clever - and true!

Theresa, I'm sorry you have started with winter weather. I don't want to jinx anything about our weather here, so will only say the shovel is hanging in the garage. I assume your D and grandies figured out something for the days when buses can't run. What a shame you aren't able to visit your friend. Maybe there will be a way to arrange it in the spring? I'm sure she'll appreciate a long, newsy letter from you!

June, you never cease to amaze me! I don't know how you get everything done. I'm sure the Christmas party at Bowls will be a huge success, thanks to your organization skills and the many things you do yourself! I hope you can sleep well tonight and find time to enjoy the party tomorrow!

Mama, I'm glad to hear that you're feeling a bit better!

Heidi, I hope the dental appointment tomorrow goes smoothly and painlessly! Enjoy your Cattlemen's Banquet tomorrow night! (Did you save any pizza in case IH got home?)

Bean, I hope you are feeling better and your chat with Dino helped with your thoughts about the delayed procedure. Please remember that you're the only one who can take care of you! (Oh, sure, we can remind, cajole and nag, but you're the one who must schedule and follow through. Our shoulders are available for you, too. {{{{HUGS}}}}

Tami, I know you'll miss the darlings while they're gone! I admire you for being able to deal with such difficult 'students.' Still keeping positive thoughts for Marlane.

MizT, I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well! Seems you need the antibiotic, but who needs those side effects? Hopefully the remaining days on it will produce fewer side effects! Good for you for finishing a gift in spite of the nausea!

It's a few minutes before midnight here. Hooray, an earlier night for me! Take care everyone, whether I remembered to comment or mention you or not. Enjoy these {{{{{{ H U G S }}}}}}, positive thoughts, healing vibes and prayers and pass them on to anyone in need! I hope to 'see' you all tomorrow!

Evening all,
Jumped on the computer as soon as I got home to see what had been happening during the day. I think about all of you, especially when you haven't posted in a while, and especially if I know there is something going on causing that: Hugs to everyone but especially our sickies and their families!!!

June, how did the Christmas party go? You worked hard getting ready for it!

Mamacita, good news that you are improving! My Xmas wish for you is that you continue to improve...

Heidi, I hope you get to your appointment okay without help! How will you get home?

Tami, I was going to ask if you knew if you were having the little darlings again next year, then remembered the different school year... oops. What a great idea about the scarf!

Theresa, what happened with the girls?? You can keep your cold weather, though on really hot days I wish we could average our days together.. It has been cool enough for a jacket most of today.

MizT, sending gentle hugs. I hope the side effects lessen with time. I have a front loader now. Mine uses a lot less water too...

fingers crossed on Marlane's surgery.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself. Still have not had an update on Marlane. I know with the time difference and the length of the surgery, it would take time. I was hoping to wake up to some news by email. I am hoping no news is good news.

Heidi, it is not that I am a nice teacher, if I schedule a test on that day, I would just have to give make-up tests when we get back. A lot of kids just don't come on the last day.

Hawkmoon, thank you for the update, I check regularly. With these diagnoses it has been my experience that information received quickly is always worse... I hope that holds true here.

Tami, that sounds very sensible to me! The school I'm at right now is not handing out end of year reports until the last day of school - on purpose to make sure the kids are there! As if they care about their report...

Morning.

MizT, I am wondering what the gift is that you made.

Suzy, the girls went to their other grandmother for the day. I don't want to have them for full days when I am alone with them. The oldest is such a hand full that it leaves me very very stressed. I end up raising my voice with her sometimes and that upsets her. As I've said before, her favourite word is NO and she uses it almost any time I ask her to do something, like brush her teeth, brush her hair. It has to do with her anxiety disorder and for now she is not on any medication. The last meds put her to sleep at school twice in a few weeks. So it may sound mean that I won't look after them for full days, but it's just too hard when I'm alone.

I will grab a coffee now. If Tami's pot runs out, I have a fresh pot too. Help yourself.

Thanks Hawkmoon - I hope Suzy is right and that the news will be good!
Theresa - I find it hard to deal with my son's youngest 2 on my own and only do so if there is no other possibility. A lot going on there at the moment but too detailed and long-winded to post here.
Just back from dinner out at Sizzler with the family for Chloe's 7th. Those same girls were on an absolute sugar high from the dessert bar when we left. Lucky Chloe was going back to her so-called mother afterwards.
Thinking of Judy and Nola, Judy and Hawkmoon and Marlane.

I'm back. They couldn't do the procedure because I have a bad bone infection. I have to spend the next week on a couple of different antibiotics before they can proceed. They will then have to rebuild the bone before they can put in the implants.

One of the neighbors just stopped by to tell me that we have a break in our water main, and it's spewing water. Once he told me where the break was, I was able to inform him that we had no water lines within a quarter mile of the area, so it isn't ours. It's either backed up tiling or their line, which is within 20 ft. of the spew. I love it when it isn't my problem.

IH just checked in!!! He's still not home, but he called. When I reminded him that he told me that he was going to be gone only Monday morning, and would be home Monday afternoon and all of Tuesday, he said 'Oh, I must have gotten my weeks mixed up''. So much for his communication skills. He still hasn't told me where he was.

Feeling kind of glum today. We just found out this morning that a neighbour of ours passed away last Friday. I did not know, and I did not know that she had been in the hospital for the last month or so. I should have made more effort ... I see her husband pass by almost every day. That's what happens in a small town, people pass away and unless you are part of a gossip circle, you don't hear things. I know I could have done more ... so why didn't I? Is lack of time and being wrapped up in my own problems really an excuse?
