What Suzy said, Theresa. You can't help everyone who needs it, no matter how much you want to.

Greetings friends. Baby it is cold outside, and we are feeling it more cause it was so sudden.I went out to the car for wrapping paper, even with heavy coat and 'boggin, it was cold!

Doc said stop the antibiotic, I had 5 days of it, and watch it. Since everything, redness, hardness, size, soreness was improved, perhaps I had enough antibiotic to knock it out. I am to use a local antibiotic cream over night every night till it is completely gone, if it gets any worse, call him. I feel sooo much better already with just missing one dose today.

Joy is coming over after work for dinner. We are having ham and sweet potatoes and corn. first real food in several days, it at least sounds good and I feel hungry

Theresa, the gift I made is a dozen ball point pens with a flower on the end, stuck into a small vase filled with green and blue marbles. Easy to find a pen when you need it that way, even if you leave it lying on a table or desk. Roger gave me one such last year, and I have enjoyed it. Bought the various pieces at the dollar store, spent about an hour gluing the flowers on. cutting the flower stems was the hardest part, I needed a larger pair of cutters. I have 2 other gifts I hope to make and one I need to find.

I bought some tiny whisks for my sister, back in October when I took my trip. She has been looking for one since her old old one became rusty many years ago. I found them at the variety store we visited, bought them and myself some red kitchen towels. I know the package got home, I am using the towels. No idea where I put away the whisks.

Heidi, I do hope they clear up your bone infection, that does not sound good at all. Here is hoping you do not have side effects from the antibiotics.

The gifts I need to make are throw pillows, or cushions. I made joy 3 last year, had fabric picked for 4 of them, would like to get that fourth one donw. another pillow for my sister, she found some bird fabric helping me clean out my old sewing room. she has several bird fabric pillows in her blue bedroom, this would make a good addition. OH, I made most of the bird cushions for her, if not all, over the years.

Theresa, I am sorry to hear about your neighbor. It is not your fault you did not know she was ill, someone could easily have told you. Do something nice for the husband next month when most people have already put him out of thier minds.

Heidi, glad it was not your water main also. Hope whomever it belongs to gets it repaired soon.

Need to make some iced tea, just have a hankering for some tonight. then to get supper ready, Joy should get off work soon.

Hugs to each of you, with extras. Special thoughts for Judy and Judy and Marlane.

Tricia, the gift sounds lovely. I also make flower pens but I don't glue them. I leave about 2-3 inches of wire on the flower and use green floral tape to wrap it on the pen.

Surgery went well for my cousin Marlane. Waiting to hear the results. We are all hoping that they got all of the cancer and that it did not spread.

My dad recently went for a biopsy and got the results today. All was negative. I am so relieved.

Supervising a class who are 'working' independently. I'm pretty sure that's not what I'd find if I walked around the classroom... so I'm putting it off for a few minutes while I share another daily anecdote with you.

Coincidence 1: 7 or 8 years ago Mum decided to move to a little town or 500 people in the middle of nowhere. She had no links to it, she just drove through it when looking for something else. After the house was purchased and the move planned she found out that a friend of my brothers' (and the whole family) was moving to the same place with his young family!! Weird, huh? She babysat his kids and they became her family away from family.

Coincidence 2: A few weeks ago I was teaching a math class and met a girl with the same first and middle names as Alie. Same age, same names...

Coincidence 3: This girl is now in my roll call and in that roll has a hyphenated name. The same name as my bros friend. I asked if she knew a **** *******. That's my Dad.

So the man in the first coincidence is the father of the girl in the second coincidence - and I didn't even know he had an older daughter. I was so shocked I even asked her to confirm the small town bit...

Surprisingly most of them have made progress...

MizT, really hope the 5 days have done the trick and you don't need to go back on antibiotics, or at least those ones...

Mamacita, if you have enough energy to read and do the basics of life (eat, shower, sleep) then you are doing really well. The rest will wait and you shouldn't hurry to try to get to it.

Tami, glad to hear the surgery went well. The wait for results is tough I think. I wish we got results in real life at the speed they do on TV and in the movies...

I'd love to see photos of these flower pens! I'm thinking of gifts for next year..

Thank you all for your kind thought. The biopsy results are back, it is benign. We still need to talk to other specialists about the next steps. This will probably mean radio and chemo, but this is good news.
Once again thanks and best wishes everyone else out there who is suffering.

Our local pharmacy makes those flower pens to fit every season. They keep them on the checkout counter for people to use. They're so big that nobody ever pockets them accidentally, so there are always plenty of pens for customers. And they look so cheerful there in a vase filled with colored marbles.

Just going through my TO DO list... have been out enjoying the pool ... it is wonderful to have a pool when it is heating up outdoors.

Jai has done a wonderful job getting it into a swim ready state... it has been beyond me over the last couple of summers because of my hip.... which hasn't been good because it is the best exercise out

Finishing with the final details on the forms... names and numbers of contacts for discharge, emergencies. Although Lachie is listed as my NOK that is laughable when he is asleep all day and will NOT hear let alone answer a phone... I am lucky to have such wonderful friends. Did NOT want to ask Pete but would have... they won't let you go home alone...

Maxine's boyfriend's trial was postponed today because his lawyer was disqualified due to a conflict of interest. His partner is engaged to one of the social workers the boyfriend assaulted. So the trial is rescheduled for sometime in January. Maxine was told today that she will have to testify, and that terrifies her. So I reassured her that I will be by her side. That means a trip to North Carolina in january.

Thank you Hawkmoon! Good news - what a relief. I hope whatever the next step is, it is easy on Judy. Give her a big hug from me please.
Tami - pleased that Marlane got through surgery well, I hope her news is as good as Judy's.
Tricia - those pens sound very handy.
Suzy - that is an amazing streak of coincidences!!
Theresa - I agree with everyone else, it's not your fault that no-one told you about your neighbour. Good idea to wait a month or so and then do something nice to help him.
Heidi - hope the bone infection clears quickly.
Mama - take care and just relax until you feel better.
Nola - no news for a few days, hope you are coping. {{Hugs}}

The problem with this bone infection is that it has already eaten away a bunch of bone in the upper jaw. The bone will have to be reconstructed and rebuilt. It's been sore for quite a while, but I didn't realize that it was as bad as it is.

Great news about Judy - her Christmas present has come early. Hope you are feeling better Heidi - your infection sounds awful. Went to visit a friend who had a triple by pass last Wednesday - he is going so well - home today. He was overseas for 5 months travelling and was so lucky nothing major happened to him before he got home. Best wishes to Bean, MizT, Mama, Judy and Marlene and all who are under the weather.

Tammi, pleased your dad's results were good and Marlene's surgery went well.
MizT, pleased you are feeling better. The pens sound really nice.

It is cold here this morning -4.5c The trees and shrubs look lovely with the frost on them. Yesterday we had mist all day. I had to take D's car for it's annual MOT, boy was it cold sitting waiting for it to be done. Took 2 hours, pleased to say it passed with flying colours with nothing to do to it.
I actually went out and bought some xmas presents yesterday too! Busy day for me. Today I have a pile of gninori to tackle. I'll be having a quiet time today as R has his works xmas do tonight and all the kids will be out tonight too. I'll get to watch what I want on the tv.

Gekko my friends,
Just took me two hours to catch up on two days reading (had 3 long phone calls in that time too)
Busy working and looking after two cats and two dogs for Teresa still have a day and a half to go. Decided I do not like cleaning out kitty litter, give me a dog any day.
Dinner is calling so no time to comment, just know I am thinking of you all and care.
Love and Hugs.

Evening all,
Took me about 2 hours to sew the hula hoop into the Xmas tree dress I'm helping Alie make to dress up a teacher on Friday. That was after I drove Dana around the world and back to pick up her Xmas laybys and return the ones she had changed her mind about... That took more than 2 hours! I quit for the night! At least I got something for hubby to unwrap on Xmas Day. He got a little TV for his office for Xmas and is already using it..

Hawkmoon, that is fantastic news! I was hoping because we heard from the oncologist before we heard from the surgeon when mum had her brain tumour removed, but I couldn't know for sure, and was so very happy to read your update!!!! Sending wishes that Judy's recovery moves along quickly... I am so relieved! Big hugs to you and Judy!!!

Midge, I was holding my breath just reading about your friend who was travelling for so long before his triple bypass!! That was a close one! I've heard a few times from people who feel 10 years younger once they recover from the surgery. I wish the same for your friend.

I heard from Nola earlier today. (I'm lucky enough to be included in the family emails with a couple of extras) Things seem to be up and down for Judy, but she finds Nola's visits reassuring and is able to sleep peacefully when she is there. Later she doesn't remember her being there, but seems to do better while she is there. Nola was at the care home with her until 5am and then worked all day in the clinic! Right now I think she qualifies as Superwoman!!

Tami, what fantastic news about your Dad! And you kept it to yourself when you were probably worried sick! Big hugs!!!

Broni, no kitty litter for me anymore.. I said when we got cats that the condition was that I never scooped litter! That didn't happen so we got a kitty door instead...

Brenda, although the frost sounds lovely, I won't swap you.... I will swap you for your quiet time though! This time of year is always busy in our house with Alie's Carols and stuff but this year I'm working too so it's more tiring. I will survive but feel very sorry for myself sometimes!

Daily anecdote: (I know I already gave you the coincidence one, but have another so thought I'd share it) Today I had a year 8 all boys class and boy are they loud! I was having particular trouble with a bench of boys at the back (science lab so they are sitting at benches, not desks) so told them to move to the empty bench at the front of the room. They refused - three times. A student at the front asked if I'd like him to get a deputy for me.. (The person I'm subbing for has all of her classes in A block - where the Principal and all of the deputies live) I tried one more time and then said yes. After that student left the room I told the boys at the back that the deputy was on his way. I've never seen students move so fast in a class room!! They were all at the front desk in less than 30 seconds!

Good news today.

Tami, glad the surgery for Marlane went well, and that your dad's biopsy was negative. Suzy is right, you must have been really worried.

Thanks for the update Hawkmoon. Give Judy my best wishes.

MizT, thanks for the explanation about the pens. What a nice idea!

Hubby is off today and we are going to the city (Ottawa) to do Christmas shopping. I dread the day on my feet, but it will be good to get it done or nearly done. Then tomorrow morning we will get a big haul of groceries. Two days of shopping ... be still my heart! (I am one of those women who actually hates going shopping.)

It's cold here too, Brenda. With the wind it feels like -10C, but we are expecting a high of +2 today. Bring on the warm weather ... woohoo!

Suzy, I couldn't open that YouTube link.
