Hello all.

Thinking of everyone!!!

Mama, sometimes bland can be kind of nice.

Hubby is working and won't be home until around 7:30 this evening. SisIL just called to vent about FIL ... he is one stubborn man. I guess we will be going down again on New Year's day, and D and her family will be going too. Then hopefully all holiday obligations will be over and we can get back to normal. With hopefully some blandness thrown in. I like your sense of humour, Mama. I am behind in reading, but know that I think of you all regularly.

I've gotten transportation issues lined up for next week. On Wednesday afternoon, I take my truck in for new tires, new brakes & suspension and a full servicing. They'll rent me a vehicle to drive to North Carolina in the following day. I think I'll return too late on Saturday to drop off the rental and get my truck, so I'll get the good-as-new truck back on Monday. If I have to go back to North Carolina for the abusive boyfriend's trial on the 17th of January, I'll take my truck. I expect him to be jailed, so Maxine and the baby will come home with me.

Got some not so good news about my cousin Marlane. They got the reports and the cancer has spread to a few lymph nodes. She will be meeting with an oncologist soon and look at all options.

IH came home last night, then went back to the plant this morning, telling me that he'd be home by 9 pm. I told him that I was making corned beef and cabbage for supper tonight. Which I did. It's midnight and he still isn't home. He makes it so hard to plan meals.

Sure... send him up here. He'll die of shock. Everything is covered with snow and ice, and more snow is expected today.

Heidi, I actually thought of sending him to you for a few days. He needs to know what hard work is. He had a fight with his dad and told him to 'shut the f*** up.'

OK.... I'll lend him to Gil for a few days. He'll be put to work shoveling out goat pens for close to nothing. IH is cheaper than Jack Benny's radio persona.

And the teenage 'fun' continues for Tami. Oh how I remember those days and I am so glad they are gone. One time my D called me a bad name ... I was so angry I slapped her across the face (not something I had ever done before and never thought I would do) ... she slapped me across the face too. We both went into our separate bedrooms and cried.

How does a 16 year old feel about shovelling? Last snow storm we had it took hubby 3 hours to clean out the driveway. It's snowing again and we could sure use some help ... hint, hint, hint.

No time to both read and write, I was in a writing mode, so here goes. How to keep the blaaaahs away after Christmas! KEEP BUSY!

Hi Cathi, Just a little note today, Saturday. I feeling better today after a bad day of fibro flare Thursday afternoon and night, into Friday. Could not get to sleep or stay asleep long when I did, would wake up hurting. I hate when that happens. . Not sure if Thursday's Ai Chi class in pool, or the weather (cold, rainy, cold front approaching) did it.
So happy to feel better today. I have a list of little things plus laundry that need doing. I still cannot wrap my head around laundry at the laundry room. After 50 years of having my own washer, I am accustomed doing that list of small chores while the washer or dryer are running.
I did feel good enough to go down for birthday party Friday afternoon that EP gives for residents having birthday that month. they had little sandwiches, ham in a bun, about the size of 'sliders' if you know what I mean, and tortellini on a skewer, dipped in spaghetti sauce, olives, cheese cubes and pepperoni on another. They were passing out extras, I brought one up and had for breakfast today hehehe.
Each place setting had a plastic drinking cup with ranch dressing in the bottom, veggies arranged in it, celery, broccoli, carrot sticks. They use that a lot I think, I have seen it before. Cute and nutritious. always a center piece of some kind, this one I had not seen before. a glass base looked like an island rising off the ocean colored plastic table cloth, long slender 'stems' of wire that could move some, and flat rounded over circles of colored glass, each glass a solid color but many colors, very festive.
It seems we have a talented piano player, Barbara, as resident who has been absent, probably sick, I have not seen her play at any function since I have been here. she has in the past had 'sing along with Barbara' entertainment for residents, and did one again while we were eating. Did not go over well, I know I cannot sing and eat same time. I think eating won the contest for everyone hehehe. but they have sheets printed out with the words of the songs she knows. I am wondering from the way she plays with flourishes and runs, if she had played in a lounge professionally at some time. she seemed very talented, possibly classically trained. many classical musicians will stoop to playing for a lounge when they get older and money is tight, you know??
Cold again here, wind chill is below freezing, brrrr. Cloudy, misty, forecasters say there are snow flurries in the area. I have not seen any, but have not been staring out the window either. You know, it is so strange. In that trailer, I could hear any rain. I really could hear it sprinkle and sometimes perhaps even hear the mist hehehe. Here, I do not hear anything, not even thunder. Well I heard thunder once, one of the storms this last week, but it was really a strong storm. Nope, did not even get rain on my windows most

Ahhhh, it did not fit! and you can see, I first sent this to another friend who is not on here. I was supposed to change that hehehe

Nope, did not even get rain on my windows most of the time, and there is not a big overhang.
I have one more gift to open, Tanya had one that she had to mail herself, she and her father did not get to the mail store, they do not use post office, gee what are those places called?? You know what I mean. Anyhow, they did not get there early enough for it to arrive by Christmas. Most of her gifts, she and Joy both make sure I have several gifts to open, cause Al always did. they know how I LOVE getting a package to unwrap. Edna and Joy even wrapped them for Tanya, once they arrived, so they were pretty under my tree. My girls and sister take such good care of me, I am truly spoiled and I like it :).
WHEEEEEE!!! the pain med is really working this time! I feel floaty, bit light headed, but NO PAIN, so I will be careful, walk with walker or better, just sit till it wears off. I need to get back to my list, have laundry to do, want to finish the alterations to bathing suit so I can wear it Monday. It is a one piece, and I feel the straps digging into shoulders, as if it was too short. I have ripped the seam at shoulder, and intend to insert elastic about 3 inches long, so there is some 'give'. NOT pretty, but this is Lakeshore. There are many people with disabilities who need clothing and other things altered from the norm to accommodate the disability. I want to make a rice sock for a friend, Sue, whose birthday was yesterday and who also has fibromyalgia. Might as well do both when I have the sewing machine out. Another thing I have trouble wrapping my head around, a sewing machine that must be taken out, a table that must be cleared of place mats and decorations, before I can sew. Second time I have drug it out in the last 2 weeks.
Hugs, love and fairy dust,
Tricia

Tami, it's -18C with the wind chill here, so tell your son to make sure to wear warm clothes and mitts. Also, I guess the mitts should be washable for after he finishes shovelling at Heidi's place.

Sorry if I'm doing a bit of teasing, Tami. Having gone through what you are going through now, it is not fun! When D was a teenager, I would sit at the kitchen table and cry after she left for school in the morning because we had a fight just about every morning. Then around 3:00 PM I would sit there and cry again because she would be home soon and we would start fighting all over again. Just remember, it may take a few years, but it does eventually get better. Come and vent any time you want, sweetie! Sending you strengthening vibes and great big bear hugs.

My day has turned lousy. I left to go to the pharmacy a little while ago. The truck started right up and we headed down the road. After a couple of miles, the truck started shaking, then losing power. Then the ''check engine'' light started flashing. We crawled over to the mechanic's safely, and I gave them the keys. The truck was scheduled for a full servicing and a bunch of work on Wednesday, but is now there early. They had no rentals available, so I had to call IH to pick me up. They may have a rental available on Monday. If not, IH will have to drive me to the next county to rent a vehicle there. My truck will be in for quite a while.... at least a week. I'm looking at a bill for $2-3 thousand right now. The new illness will be adding to it.

Hello all...Looking out of my window I see a beautiful snow covered neighborhood...hate to see the plows come to mar the beauty, yet they are going to be needed to clear the roads so we can travel safely...sigh...snow is still falling though so they won't be here for awhile.
Tami...Just keep telling yourself that this too will pass...I remember telling my kids that my wish for them was to have kids who acted just like them...and they did...When they would complain about something...I'd simply smile and say' I Know'...It felt good, and your day will come. Hang in there.
Have a great weekend...or what's left of it all. May rest and fun be part of your time spent. Be as good to yourselves as you are to others. Peace.♥

I would never say that word in front of my parents, let alone at them. I know he will outgrow this, but he is a real pain in the backside right now. I also know that by the time he outgrows this, Dylan will be acting the same way. I should stock up on hair dye now as they are going to make me prematurely grey

Oh Tami - the teenage years are the absolute worst for a parent!! And while tempers are high it's no use trying to tell him what he did was wrong. I always found that letting things settle down and picking my moment (the next day) to have the talk about recent behaviour meant that the teenager was more likely to listen. You have brought him up well, he must know deep down that speaking to his Dad like that is not acceptable in your family! He just needs a reminder.

Hi everyone. One more day of this year left.
I will be glad to see a New Year start.
Are any of you doing anything exciting for New Years Eve?
We will take our chairs and pull our car up on the grass over near the river here.
The carnival is in town, as it is every christmas for 3 weeks or so and they put on fireworks about 10.30pm.

Our NY's eve - my sister, brother and I and our spouses get together every year, have dinner and play board games (Balderdash, Articulate, Quiddler and such)- it's good fun and this way we avoid baby-sitting duties! lol

Great news - I finally finished the granny square afghan this morning. I washed it and it's currently in the dryer. Hubby is going to see his dad today and he will take it down. YAHOO!

Suzy, D and her family, and hubby and I are going to see hubby's parents on New Years Day - I will get D to take some pictures of the blanket then and email them to me. Hopefully I can at least post them on TOS ... if not I have your email address. I think it will be a while before I tackle another large project as my arm and shoulder are just killing me. Even being on the pooter right now hurts.

Take care everyone and Happy New Year to those celebrating today. You are all in my thoughts.

Happy last day or next to the last day of the year to all...
Tami, glad things have settled down at your house..I knew they would, and felt like Cyn, that you'd have time to let Mitchell know just how disappointing, and he'd respond in the manner you would want. Parenting is hard, but try we must!
and inappropriate his actions were
Theresa, I know the joy you must feel at finishing the blanket for your FIL, I'm sure it will be most welcomed and appreciated. Looking forward to the pictures to come. Now that you have finished this project, you are wise to give your arms, hands and shoulder a rest. Hope time will help diminish the pain.
Viv...love the new avatar!
..I have given up on finding, downloading, etc any new ones for myself, but love the ever changing ones you ladies share.
Nothing exciting going to happen for the New Year...just giving thanks for being here to celrbrate and hoping to be able to stay awake to see it come in...yet not really caring either...Adding my voive and message to all that we will find the New Year filled with more joy and blessings than challenges..but rejoice in the strength and courage we will find to face that which will come no matter what.May all who travel remain safe and to all...God's Peace be yours.

I slept in, and am now vegetating inside. I really should go outside in the cold and snow to check on the horses and cattle. I'll probably do that in a half hour or so after doing the puzzles. I just feel frustrated knowing that I have no transportation, even though I wasn't planning to go anywhere.

Viv, I lost my avatars and my page when I lost my computer. I am on Al's old computer, and I could get to this older page I had, but no membership, no avatars or smilies. I have actually forgotten how to do them, it has been so long I had tones on my other puter hard drive, could have just resubmitted them. they are just gone now, so no avatar.

Ethan left this morning about 6am with 3 mates to drive to the Gold Coast for New Years Eve. Hate the thought of them on that highway but at least Ethan is not driving this time.
He got the licence back but back on red P's for the year so he cannot afford to make one mistake.
Hope whoever is driving is responsible, you know what young 19 year old males are like.
