Well, the birds are all fed and watered, and stocked up on fresh fruit. IH is happier than he was earlier today. The heater in his truck went out, and it never got above 34℉ / 1.1℃ today. The next week is supposed to be the same, with the lows in the mid 20's℉ / -3℃ at night. He doesn't want to drive to the plant in a vehicle that cold. So I got on the 'puter and bought him a portable heater for cars that plugs into the cigarette lighter receptacle. It's being sent priority, so will be here at 7:30 am on Wednesday. There is no way that he could get the truck heater fixed that soon, or for anywhere that cheap a price.
Off to bed.

To all my friends waiting to welcome in the NEW YEAR 2013,I wish you good health and happiness.
we are having a quiet night, just watching TV (Edinborough Tattoo and last night at the Proms). We will listen to the noise of the firworks in Sydney harbour and watch them on TV. We cannot see the city from our home but we will hear the noise and see the reflection in the sky.

Wishing you all a fantastic 2013!! Your best year ever!

Finally got my internet back and I'm too tired to read or comment...

I'll catch you on the flip side..

I'd like to say I have abstained from my vices for all of this year, but it wouldn't be true!

It looks like the New Year is starting off right. I still can't find a rental, but it looks like it'll be a moot point. They think my truck will be ready to go on Wednesday afternoon, so I can take her instead!

to all you lovely people.

I was asleep way before midnight.
Now what NY resolution can I make to break?
One will be to have a holiday, but when and where is
undecided.

A bit overcast here this morning and as yet, not too hot.
I intend to do some housework (sorry), colour my hair and visit the neighbors. The noise from a party next door,to celebrate the New Year, made Greg, close the house and put the a/c on. They were having a great time with karaoke, but us 'Oldies' need our beauty sleep.
Judy's memorial,is tomorrow. Not Tues the 2nd,as I got the days wrong. From then on,I can reflect, and then look forward.
This year, the girls start school, and the boys do their last year of primary school. All 3 of the boys will start high school together in 2014 due to a change in the school system.

2013 to all my friends. I hope the new year brings joy and happiness to all. My parents are coming over for dinner and we are just going to hang out. I don't go out tonight, too many crazies on the roads.

Way too many crazies Tami.
I stayed home and went to bed earlyish, house nearby was having a party, it was great they had a singer and at least one other guitarist who sounded great, playing music that I liked. Just lay back relaxed listening to them and the happy sounds of people having fun. I dozed, got a few phone calls then had a great night sleep. Good start to the year that will be good to all of us is my wish.

Must shake a tail feather and do a little bit of swearing, friends coming down from Noosa and staying overnight. Haven't seen them in at least 6 months since Liz cut my hair, it is now down to my shoulders but with my stubborn hair it kicks up and curls like a 1960's teenager hehe!

Good morning to you all. Onward and upward! This will be a year of many changes for us, some new challenges we weren't expecting, but we both have our best friend by our side so really it's all just part of the journey together. It is also a year of many milestones for us. We have our 30th anniversary coming up, my 50th also looms, hubby will turn 55, and our youngest WILL pull the digit out and get a job and become independent.

Gail - 50 is good compared to the milestone I am facing in a few weeks. I will officially be old enough to claim a pension! Yes, I will be a senior citizen! But I don't plan to act like one!
Nola - tomorrow will be hard for you and we will have you in our thoughts.
Heidi - hope you get your truck back.
Had a good night last night, didn't travel too far, only to my sister's, about 8 minutes drive.

I had a bit of a smile yesterday.
My kids would never consider spending New years Eve with us unless they're desperate and both were waiting on a better offer. Yesterday, independent of one another, I got a message from each of them - 'What are you doing tonight? etc etc'. Sorry, your mother has made her own plans. You want to spend NYE with us, organise it earlier not when all other avenues fail!
I think Karin and family stayed home. Andrew was luckier, he found a last-minute babysitter for his girls and got to go clubbing with his friends.

I'm hoping I get my truck back in time to run some errands before I have to leave. I will NEED to get cash for traveling, I NEED to stock up on dog and cat food, and I want to get a musical mobile for Maxine's baby Holly. She's old enough to need and want stimulation..... she just turned 3 months old.

Happy New Year everyone. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and wishes over the past month.
2013 - our it will our 35th anniversary (and the 40th anniversary of meeting each other).
I was planning on spending NYE at home with the TV, but our son and his g/f invited me to his new house to join his small party, it was a great night.
Looking forward to Thursday and having Judy home again.

Well I'm feeling quite intimidated. After days of being limited to my phone for internet access and knowing that I am charged some horrendous rate if I go over the usage (and forgetting how to check my usage..) I am now pages behind with my comments. I really want to acknowledge what I have read, but it is a daunting task...

Heidi, going away for even a day is a big deal when you run a farm! I don't know that I have what it takes to take that responsibility on, but thank goodness many do or we'd all starve!

Theresa, it's a shame the neighbour with the snow blower doesn't feel inspired to clear your driveway for you every day! I can't say I blame him, but wouldn't it be loverly... (I love that movie)

Nola, I hope I read that you are feeling better as I get further along with the posts... With Mum's things I found it was easy to give things away and really really tough to throw things away. I could hand over a priceless memento with happiness at how much it meant to the person I was giving it to, but throw away a half used bottle of shampoo and I was a total mess. I am sending vibes your way.

There's something about eat pray love that is peaceful. Although I wouldn't take the same approach to find peace in my life, I did for a brief moment feel peace and believe it was possible for me...

Vicki, my e-reader is now loaded with free books that I hope I get a chance to read. A week at the beach with no interruptions sounds like bliss! I hope you have a wonderfully relaxing time...

Rob, I saw the news about Judy on the other site and was over the moon. Kinda sorta only 2 days to go!! How wonderful! May I be really presumptuous and suggest some kind of counselling? It was suggested for me after my stroke and I didn't really understand what they were talking about and so didn't do it, but should have. There's something about the new reality that is very disturbing and at times very very difficult.

Tami, big hugs for you and Marlane. Every time I read about C I remind myself that many things are possible now that weren't possible not too long ago and many people beat it... Too many still don't, but anything is possible!!

Broni, I hope you've had a respite from the hot weather. Hubby looked at me with a serious face about an hour ago and said he was really sorry he had to leave me on my own tomorrow... (he gets to go back to his air conditioned office tomorrow and was rubbing it in.)

oooo Tami, has he apologised yet? Mine has been gone over 24 hours and in deep p00.

MizT, I hope you haven't had another fibro flare up since your last post! Hugs!! How thoughtful of Joy and Tanya making sure you have gifts to open... wonderful people.

Theresa, I can't imagine living in those temperatures. I think I would hibernate!! Warm hugs... Congratulations on finishing the afghan!! I can't wait to see the photos...

Viv, this was our first new years without the kids since they were born! Our plans were very flui

Well that's what happens when you don't post in a while...

Viv, this was our first new years without the kids since they were born! Our plans were very fluid as a result. Every year we stay home, dance to the concerts on TV, watch the fireworks on TV and throw confetti everywhere - I find it for months afterwards no matter how well I clean up. We told Alie that since she was leaving us alone we would throw the confetti in her room, and we did! I'm still waiting to see what she thinks of that... We decided to walk up to the race track (about 2.5km each way, but walking is much safer at this time of year) to watch the fireworks at 9:30 and regretted not going up earlier. They had a really cool rock cover band that I would have loved to have watched for longer! I hope Ethan made it home safely. I haven't read anything on the news that I could link to him so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

Nola, I know where you should have a holiday!!! Here here... You would be home from the memorial by now I think. Big hugs xoxoxoxoxo

oooooo, hubby is telling her so I'm staying out of it.

Gail, sending strength you don't need and hugs that are good at any time...

I'm 46 this year, again. And no I won't deny it, there's nothing wrong with 46 :D

Happy Anniversary Rob and Judy!!

Yay! We have MizTricia1 back! Avatar and all!

I hope I didn't miss anyone. Love and hugs to all...

I do hope you have all enjoyed your New Year celebrations. I get very nostalgic. Thinking of all the people and things that are left behind and wondering what the New Year will bring.
Hubby asked if I would like to go to the movies. We saw 'Quartet'. Lots of fun and laughs but I found it depressing. All these talented people, some in their prime 50 years ago playing themselves in a fun retirement home. I was never talented musically but the whole situation was too close to the truth.
When we arrived M/IL her daughter and neice were at the earlier session. MIL had had her hair permed yesterday and definitely did not look her 98y 7m age. So different to what we thought would be the outcome a few months ago!

I need to go out, lock the horses up, and move the cow herd into the horse pasture. At 11 am, help arrives, and we move the herd into the holding pens and sort the cows from the calves. We're only working the calves today, and it's safer for the calves to go through the chute without the danger of a cow behind them overcrowding them.
