Gail - very impressed with you having the link for drop bears on hand!!!
Rena - how long will you be over this part of town.
Puffing Billy is a lovely way to check out the Dandenongs and local terrain - have made the trip numerous times and never got sick of it. While you are in the Dandenongs I recommend a visit to William Rickets Sanctuary [http://www.ozshots.com/20001014_William_Ricketts_Sanctuary/]
Healesville sanctuary will satisfy a lot of your needs re Ozzie fauna. You will prob even manage to get to do some touchy feely stuff there as well. You need to allow a full day for around there and the Yarra Valley for a drop of wine tasting some of the wonderful vineyards.

What a day Stella! I hate driving in pouring rain let alone fog. Even normal rain can make old road markings show through whatever they cover them with and make unfamiliar places dangerous to drive around.... Glad you're back safe.

Stella, just reading about your never-ending horrendous journeys exhausts me! Please tell me your children appreciate it.
How did Brendan go with his driving in very trying conditions?

Gail, Brendan did ok driving, but his inexperience showed when drivers cut us off, or when the road started to flood and you get pulled by the puddle or when cars didn't have there lights on and were driving slower than the rest of the traffic but you couldn't tell until you were right on them. Other than that, not bad. I offered to drive several times, but he wanted to continue. A little nerve-racking for me not being in control, but then again, I didn't get the usual pain in my neck, back and leg, so that was good.

We're supposed to get a snow storm tonight, but it could miss us if it hugs the coast. New York City is supposed to get it. That will probably paralyze it until the "snow plows" they have melt it.

Well, off to get some stuff done. Youngest has to have his hair cut today because he has an inspection tomorrow. (Although, he's praying for a snow day. I don't think he'll do what the girls used to do to get a snow day - wear their pj's inside out!)

Trivia from the BBC news site:

Beginning school at the age of five was established with the arrival of compulsory education in 1870 - and researchers say that it was not particularly influenced by educational concerns.

It reflected concerns about protecting children from a bad home environment from an early age - and it appealed to employers' expectations that starting early would mean that children would also leave school early and be ready for the labour market.

But then again, the more things change, the more they stay the same. They started head start program here for early intervention for children at risk for pretty much the same reason. They hope the kids will stay in school, but because of the home environment, many do end up leaving early and working in the lower paying jobs.

Welcome home, Rolanda. Get used to hearing about the crash. It was an event.

Rena has a fabulous trip planned to Oz.
Little Ethan had to return to the intensive unit. Let's all send positive thoughts that direction.

It is cold and colder this week, where has our summer weather gone? We went from way above average temps to below average temps. I think thoise " average" temps really do not happen so often, we always seem to be above or below, and adding them together and dividing is how they get that elusive temp called " average".
