And especially to Denny I really hope that Puppers settles down, it must be hard when she finds a new home and the other dog is jealous.

Morning Sudoluland! Coffee is on.

I have daffodils! I found them yesterday and picked enough for a small bouquet for my table. The daffodils have naturalized and are hiding, so I have to bring some in to enjoy them! SPRING IS SPRUNG, now what will be next to sent up new growth? I did see green shoots of the irises, hope they bloom nicely for me this year. Nothing yet from the day lillies, so still early spring I guess.

Next 3 days will be around 60's (16-20C) for a high and flirting with freezing ( 0*C) nights. Not bad for February.

anyone else seeing anything fortelling spring?

Good morning all! Missed everyone yesterday, so I hope everyone had a very lovely Valentine's day! I see that some people don't celebrate, but we do here. My hubby has always been into Valentine's day and for 30 years he has been buying lots of little gifts and hiding them around the house. It's always so much fun to find them, in the dryer, a cabinet, on the computer... (It's too late for him to stop now!) We also give the kids gifts and candy. I sent boxes with the kids when they went back to school. They called yesterday so happy with the candy and little gifts. The feeling is mutual. It feels good to give and recieve!

ah Stella pleased to hear that you enjoyed Valentines. As stated before we do not celebrate but I have nothing against anyone who does. Do you manage to find all the gifts straight away? Or is there some that stay hidden until you use certain appliance?

Hi MizT I found tulips flowering in my garden last week, strangely my daffodils are still tightly in bud. I suppose a tell tale sign spring is on the way are the 'frisky' activities of some of the birds which come into my garden... talk about the birds and bees Oh and have seen my first bumblebee and butterfly this week.

MizT., I also have daffodils up and ready to bloom. Crocus bloomed last week. Pearl bushes will be next.
Brenda, did you see the Westminster Dog Show? The English Cocker was beautiful. Check the web site, if you missed it.

Another sign of spring:

We went to grocery yesterday, just to pick up icing for the cake I had made. Out front, they had blooming dianthus, and pansies and one other, forget the name, another early bloomer. They looked a little sad, cause early morning yesterday it had been well below freezing! I resisted the urge to buy some, althugh I shall get some dianthus soon, they only bloom early spring here, as summer gets too hot for them. will not buy more pansies, I have two long containers of them that have bloomed and rebloomed all winter, they sure kept me company. But they will die out late spring, early suummer as it gets hot here.

Hello all...Glad those who celebrated Valentines Day had fun...My celebration was nice but I didn't get my flowers...however the card and dinner were great. We do celebrate often....we call it our 'just because' day...that's always nice because you never know when it will happen until it does.
Stella, I like the way you guys celebrate....do you also hide little gifts for hubby?
I have noticed my Crocuses and daffodils starting to sprout, but they have not reached any true growth as of yet....they won't reach any real height and bloom until late March or early April in my corner of the world.....even though we have had a mild winter...so to speak....no real sustained cold. Off to have dinner, so hope all enjoy their weekend if I don''t get back.

Our garden is very sad and exhausted from all the heat, looking forward to autumn. When I was a child in UK, loooooong time ago, my grandfather said that Feb 14 was the bird's wedding day and on Feb 21 they were back from honeymoon and building a house. Update on Chella, my old lady, so far so good, she is responding to treatment. I truly don't think she would have made it if you all hadn't been willing her to get better. She daren't not!!!

Hi everyone. Sounds like everyone who celebrates Valentine's Day enjoyed it. My hubby went to Vancouver Island to buy the truck and isn't home yet. He left Tuesday afternoon. I think he will be back this evening since he didn't call this morning. I guess we will celebrate it when he gets back.

All this talk of spring and flowers is making me jealous. I have months left of winter. Still have lots of snow with no end in sight since it is snowing right now. Can I come visit someone who is having warmer weather?

MizT, hope the gremlins are gone for good.
Rolanda, I hope November is cooler than now. That heat sounds unbearable.

Today is Flag Day in Canada. Our flag was first flown on Parliament Hill on February 15, 1965. Flag Day was instituted in 1996 and is officially called National Flag of Canada Day. Wow, I learned something new today, did you?

Lynda, I'm happy to hear that Chella continues to show improvement and am happy that God saw fit to let her enjoy her old age for awhile longer....We all wish for second chances to reach out and touch our loved ones, but it doesn't always happen. Give her a sugar cube and a pat on her nose from me.

Oh shoot....not signed in again!!!! Now I'm getting a little tired of signing in after I've been away from the site no matter if its a short time or long. This has happened before, but just for a short period, and I've heard of it happening to others...my concern is how to fix it! Do I bother Gath with it, after all that he's gone through? Is it possible that it will right itself? Any suggestions out there ladies?

Hi, Rolanda, I hope your weekend is very enjoyable and relaxing (and cooler) for you and Peter! Hi Gail, Cyndi, Broni, MizTricia, Mamacita, June, Stella, Brenda, Ruby, Lynda, and Rena! Rena, I think Stella, Becky and I are with you on wishing for spring. It would take some mighty strong shoots to push up through all of the snow we've had. Predictions are for another 8 to 12 inches this weekend in this part of Illinois. We've been told there has been more snow this winter than we have had in 29 years.
