Good morning everyone.

I looked up Rockets on Wikipedia, and indeed they are called Smarties in the U.S. When I think of Smarties I think of the ones that are like M&Ms. Hmmm ... starting off the day thinking about chocolate, that can't be good.

Tami, so glad your friend is moving back to Florida. You had mentioned the other day that you had some things going on in your life right now, so it will be nice for you to have your friend nearby and perhaps help you sort them out.

Can't remember what I've read and if I go back I'll lose my post. Will have to read again with my coffee. TTFN.

Cyn, licorice allsorts - YUM - my daughter usually gives me some at Christmas.

Sorry about the gout, Heidi. Feel better soon.

MizT, good news about being able to use your left hand to turn the stove on and off. Things like that may seem like "baby steps", but it gets you to your goal!

Suzy, wife and mistress meeting up at the mine? Not good. Boy, is he going to have some "splaining" to do when he gets out.

Still under a heat/humidity advisory here. High in the low 30's today; don't know what the "feels like" temp is. BUT, tomorrow it's going down to 19C. Go figure. That will be a big change in temps, but I am looking forward to it even if it is supposed to rain this afternoon and tomorrow.

Well, time for my second cup of coffee which I will take outside before the extreme heat/rain starts. See you all later.

I was here earlier, writing a post and a bit of excitement interrupted me. Of course I lost the post. Of course I forgot what I had written, but I did think of each of you.

I began to smell this medicinal, hot smell, the kind that is associated with electric motors or wires getting hot. I called AL back here, it was strong around computer, so he did an emergency shutdown, which closes within seconds and NOTHING is saved when ya do that. Still had the odor, around computer, but also over by closet, and back in that direction. It dawned on me, the AC was blowing air from that direction, but no smell around the unit, so I changed the directional vanes to blow to other end of room, and yep, the odor went that way. So, the bedroom AC is now OFF, no more odor, and still no idea what was happening. Hubby said leave it off today and try it again tomorrow, or whenever it is hot enough again, tomorrow is forecast to be coo. If it happens again he will probably have to swap out AC units. We do have one more that is not being used, IF it still works.

Soooo glad i was home and here in the bedroom when this happened, I cringe to think what if we were gone? That AC stays on, and if motors or wires get hot enough, well you know.

I have come to the end for paperwork and phone calls I had been working on, for now anyway. I feel at loose ends, as if I should be doing something, know what I mean? Perhaps a nap is in order.

Hugs and extras, till later.

Rolanda, we do want photos of the new caravan, please. congrats, so happy it will be home with you tomorrow!! When is it's maiden trip?

Theresa, thank you for the holiday wishes. yep, Labor Day is Monday official end of the summer vacation season. I am wearing my white pants, both pair this weekend, no more white after Labor Day hehehe. Hubby asked just who made that rule and why we here in south paid attention, since we will have summer weather another month or two.

Yes MizT, as Heidi said, that was scary. When my niece was in high school she had a makeup mirror that she left plugged in. She turned the lights off, but left it plugged in. It was only a few months old when it caused a fire that did tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage to their house. I always worry about things plugged in.

Just got back from my daughter's place - I cleaned out her coat closet where all the kids coats, shoes and boots are, as well as D's and SIL's. Boy what a job! Have 2 small bags for the Sally Ann of kids shoes. Time for a break for me.

Just reading about the 7.2 earthquake at 4:45 local time Saturday causing significant damage. I imagine the DUGS will wake to news of this one, as new Zealand is not that far away. Epicenter 19 miles north west of Christchurch, in a suburban area, half of downtown without power, roads and bridges damaged, water and sewer lines ruptured.

Sound familiar Suzy?? Know you lived through one in CA.

We are under a severe thunderstorm watch with winds possibly gusting to 90 km/h. I think I will go outside and make sure the kids put their toys away. So far the sun is out, but the power has gone off once for just a few seconds.

MizT, will have to check the news for the earthquake. Mother Nature can be scary.

Morning all!
MizT, I haven't heard or read any news yet this morning but I'm heading over to see.. I'm glad you were warned by the smell before anything bad happened! Do you really stop wearing white on labor day weekend? I don't follow any clothing rules - whatever feels good.

Theresa, I think of 100 kph as the damage line. Under that things just seem to get blown around. I hope that's true for you!!! We have the same forecast by the way.

Rolanda, enjoy!! When are you doing your test run?

Gail, I love the movie Wall-E. One of hubby's friends wants to go to kids movies in the theatres but his wife isn't interested. He is worried about looking like a pedo if he goes by himself so has asked to borrow Ally!

Mamacita has put a link on FB to her uncles dancing in the movie HI De HO. My connection is slow again so I'm downloading it in the background.

I wasn't supposed to be here this morning - Ally was supposed to be singing all morning. Unfortunately a few of the girls are sick so it was called off. Now I can go for coffee with my friends - drat it.

Morning Everyone.
We had a look and a sit in the new Van last Saturday, (there was some remote chance that we could pick it up last week, alas it was not to be).
Plans are to be away next weekend, just to the local coastal Park, 23ks from home, 1/2 hour drive.

Just a quick pop in to say hello before flinging food for dinner/supper (the evening meal here). I hope everyone is well! BTW, growing up, we usually called the evening meal dinner, except on Sunday we had the big/majore meal around noon or 1 p.m and called it dinner. Smaller evening meal was supper.

Sending {{{{{HUGS}}}}} to everyone, whether you think you need them or not! I've been trying to read a few pages, and it seems that more of you need them than might admit.

Apologies for missing birthdays! One great big and birthday cake for those who were missed!

We had a quite heavy thunder and lightning storm last night, and today has been a DELIGHT! It almost seems like fall/autumn with temperatures in the 70s and a breeze most of the day. The windows are OPEN! First time in too long, but the house smells fresh and at least one of the cats has been sitting in window or doorway most of the day! The breeze and cooler air are a bonus for us, as we had to clean one rug and spot clean a couple of places. WARNING: do not read the following if you are fixing a meal or about to eat or have a queasy stomach! While we were away, one of the cats didn't make it to the litter box on time and one or both had hairball/food regurgitation. We'd been planning to buy a carpet shampooer and this confirmed that the need was imperative!

Sorry, but must run, as a meal must be flung! I hope to be back later!

Forget who mentioned Sweet Tarts but there is a candy by that name also. They are usually a little bigger than Smarties and come in little foil packets or in big foil rolls. I love black licorice but never did like licorice allsorts. My dad loves them. There is an ice cream parlor that sells a lot of old fashioned candy and they sell licorice pipes. I have to buy one every time I go. It is called Jaxson's and I took Brenda there when she was in Florida last year. It is a one of a kind shop.

Suzy.... very sad story, all right. Like you, I am worried about what will happen to these children after they turn legal age. If this story was from Kentucky, I know what will happen. I had an in-depth experience with Social Services a few years ago when I helped a friend who was falsely accused of committing a crime done by her (then) 16 yr old daughter and her husband. The daughter was deeply disturbed, a compulsive liar and habitual criminal (with no excuse such as abuse for her behavior) who spent most of her time in State Juvenal facilities. The Social Service people were court ordered to have her on psychiatric treatment and medications, but since they moved her from one facility to another almost monthly, there was no consistent treatment. She could be sweet and angelic one minute, and physically violent the next, with no warning. When she turned 18, they announced that they could no longer hold her for juvenal crimes, and just turned her loose. She has been in trouble since then, but nothing yet that could require imprisonment. It will happen, unfortunately. The girl, now 19, is a drug addict and alcoholic.

Rolanda, e-mail received, thank you!

Suzy, I read reports of many minor injuries only, but an unknown number trapped in collapsed houses. Five or more buildings in downtown with walls collapsed into the street, many streets closed. I am glad that still no major injuries found, that is hopeful.

Suzy, enjoy your day with the new plans, glad you can escape for coffee with friends. Sorry some of the girls were sick nd the group could not perform.

Teresa, my daughter in CT just e-mailed me, said so far, EARL is a non event, just a few sprinkles and very high humidity, although the temps were lower than last few days. I hope EARL continues to behave and only cause minor damage.

Julie, so happy for you that today was a delight. Ours was a bit warm, but without the humidity, it was good. I actually got outside to mow front yard just before dinner. Tonight first forecast low into the 50's, 59 for a low! Often happens around labor day for a night or two.

Suzy, way sad story. Like HEIDI, I fear that here, they would be turned loose with little or no supervision or support and soon would find their way into adult jail and prisons. But they would NOT have been that carefully monitored till 18 either.

Heidi, enjoy your movie tonight. What ya watching???

Good morning all, just taking a quick look with my morning coffee. Off to get the groceries as soon as the store opens. I like to get it out of the way early in the day - this is what I call our big haul.

We had a storm last night with heavy rain, and today it's nice and cool. More rain this afternoon apparently.

June, Earl seems to be not as bad as they thought. I'm just waiting to hear how the Maritimes fared.

I'm off to dry off a lawn chair and sip my coffee. I have the grandies this afternoon while my daughter and SIL finish off the last of the back-to-school shopping, so I better relax now while I can. See you all later.
