Christmas Cake Recipe
You'll need the following:
1 cup of water
1 cup of sugar
4 large brown eggs
2 cups of dried fruit
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of brown sugar
Lemon juice
Nuts
1 bottle of whisky
Sample the whisky to check for quality. Take a large bowl. Check the whisky again. To be sure it's the
highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer, beat one cup of butter
in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar and beat again. Make sure the whisky is still OK.
Cry another tup. Tune up the mixer. Beat two leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried
fruit. Mix on the turner. If the fired druit gets stuck in the beaterers, pry it goose with a drewscriver.
Sample the whisky to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something. Who cares?
Check the whisky. Now sift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Spoon the sugar or something. Whatever you can find. Grease the oven. Turn the cake tin to 350 degrees. Don't forget
to beat off the turner. Throw the bowl out of the window. Check the whisky again and go to bed.

Gail.... by the time I scheduled a flight, drove to Louisville, caught a plane, flew out there and found your place after getting lost repeatedly AND got stopped by the cops for driving on the wrong side of the road..... all the trifle would be gone.

I had to make a trifle as well but they did ask for it to be made with no sherry,
not as nice, the sherry makes it.
heres a yummy one to try when you get a chance.
fresh pineapple diced, and peri peri sauce, let it marinate overnight, and serve, knock your socks off yummy.

Hello lovely people - I was amazed that I had so many pages to read - I haven't been here since Christmas eve. I guess you're all much more organised than I am, to be able to even turn your pooters on. Mine sat lonely and unattended for nearly 2 days. Sigh!
Sounds like everyone enjoyed their Christmas - except poor Gil being so sick. Will you do it another day, Heidi, or has the moment passed? It's not the same, is it?
Our Christmas was wonderful and I have to report that Broni's beer-in-the-butt chicken was well appreciated and Gail's (sorry, I DO remember now that you gave the recipe to Suzy) Choc ripple dessert was wolfed down by everyone. Only Col, Andrew and I had and enjoyed the Christmas pudding with rum butter and brandy cream - we like to mix our spirits - Yummmmmmmmmmm!

But, I am sooooo exhausted today - so it's either computer or catch up on IQ recorded TV programs with feet up. Air-con is on. But so is washing machine, sorry for swearing, but time and washing waits for no man.

I always have to make my trifles non-alcoholic. I'm on one med. that does not go well with alcohol. I'm told that it could kill me..... so NO drinking.

Suzy - so sorry to hear about the tragic circumstances surrounding the loss of your brother's grandchild and, I guess, your Mum's first great-grandchild. My heart goes out to the parents and, indeed, the whole family. {{{hugs}}}

Decided to change my avatar to the next milestone - New Year! What will 2010 bring?
It is 5 years ago today since the Indonesian Tsunami - so many people lost, it was staggering that Mother Nature could be so brutal.
Heidi - sorry you can't have alcohol but, after all, your health is far more important and I've had non-alcoholic trifles that were still delicious and you wouldn't even know!

Tami... I'm crazy enough to wear them in public. I used to have a turkey one, that gobbled, but the dogs ate it. They found it irresistible.

Hi everyone! Hope Christmas was,or is,wonderful for everyone! We had all the family here, but not at the same time, and they left early, so by 8pm we were alone again, which felt really weird!but some came back after midnight, so we had another chance to chat for a while.
Got lots of lovely pressies, and ate too much yummy food, it was a lovely day - hope everyone else had as much fun. :)

All shops closed around here today. City and Bondi Junction were the only shops open today. Tomorrow will be the big sales.
I have already bought two packets of 1/2 price Christmas cards for next year so another 4 packets and that is about all the bargains that I am after.
I hope Ebob survived!

Evening all!
Finally got the kids off the internet so I could have a go...
Ebob survived! I didn't mention my stay in line earlier... The lines were very long so I was there for a while. The couple in front of me had a trolley with groceries in the bottom - purchased at Woolworths. They had a few things in the part kids can sit in and a pair of shoes on top of the groceries, which they casually covered with a jacket. When they got to her I mouthed at Ebob 'check the cart'. She did, they lifted the shoes WITH the jacket and she didn't see them. But the supervisor saw our exchange, or heard me tell Ebob after they left that the shoes were under the jacket, and they got caught! Don't like paying for shoplifters so I was happy.

Actually that goes for everyone except Heidi, but I hope you do get to have a yummy dinner soon!
My in-laws have been checking out Ally as Freddy Mercury on fb. Hubby thinks she was better in her other 2 songs so I'm uploading them for them to see too. Problem is it takes over an hour for ever 100MB...

I got some clothes June. I like the sound of your day! Ebob is working from 8.30 to 4.30 tomorrow and I think I will read in between if I can. I got the Dexter book for chrissie.
Judy, I wonder what it will be like when our girls are grown and gone on christmas. Hopefully we will live close enough to get together.
