Afternoon all!
Hmmm, I was nauseous yesterday too. No escapees though, just feeling yucky. Looks like I got off lightly!

One hour until we have to head off and I will spend some of it making sandwiches for dinner. I'm sure people will want to buy sausage sangers too, but this will add selection...

MizT, I went to the Tylenol page and saw how few lots of the medication you take were recalled. How unlucky do you have to be to get one of those?!!

Hi everyone!
Hope all who are vsick feel better very soon - that's not a good start to the New Year!
We were supposed to go to a Greek bbq tomorrow, but it's been cancelled because it's supposed to be raining - so I don't have to worry about cooking some delicious treat. Lucky really, as we're still stocked up on shortbread and caramel and all the other Christmas goodies - I don't think they eat as much now as they did when they were little!
The two older girls are heading off to a New Year party in the country, the boy, and his girl, are in Tassie for a holiday, and Laura will be partying somewhere I'm sure, (though not doing said Greek bbq)
It's stinking hot today, with a nasty wind.
Rob has torn himself away from his virtual farm to watch a loud music DVD. He joined Facebook to help me with my Farm, but has already found MANY people he knows - it's kinda fun, we keep running in to each other's rooms to look at what's going on ... rather silly really, but then, so are we ... ;)

It's been raining all evening here. Tomorrow we're supposed to have rain, freezing rain and snow showers. New Years day is supposed to be snowy. I think winter has arrived.

Very quiet here. The topsiders are asleep and the others are probably starting to party. Hubby asleep in from of the TV with some stupid show on that neither of would watch and if I change the channel it will wake him.
Grand neice is a little darling 9lb 4 oz and a head of black hair. We went to the hospital to find they had decided to go home early.

Just watched the 9pm fireworks on TV. Quite spectacular. They let them off so that families can then go home and do not have to wait till the main ones at midnight.
We have been in to watch them on quite a few occasions but not this year. One year there was low cloud and the smoke could not get away and we were down wind so we could not see the Harbour bridge for smoke.
If I walked up to the top of our street and along to the top of the next street I would be able to see the fireworks but quite a distance away.

Hi Judy,
A little bit of cloud but a lovely night outside. I see I am not the only one filling in time till midnight. Hubby has gone to bed. He has a cold so not feeling the best. Not much on TV unless you want to watch Human Nature at the Opera house. It is not turning me on I am afraid.

Happy New Year - now it's official! Raining cats and dogs here ... or is that bears and frogs? There are fireworks, but we can't see them, and I'm not going to stand in the rain ...
Hi Ditzy Dizzy Lizzy, Stella and June and anyone else who's still up.
"Hair" is on tv - don't think I've ever really seen it before - looking at one young guy - thought he looked familiar (so young!) ... he grew up to be the chief bad guy in "Dark Angel" ... he should have stayed with the hippies! :)
Well, that's the thing about New Year - you stay up till midnight, then ... you go to bed! Good night, good night ... sleep well everyone, may your 2010 be wonderful! :)

Happy New Year to our mates down-under! Bing.com has the Syndey Harbor bridge fireworks on the page today - spectacular!
June - how sad about your friend and how nice of you to stop in on her. Hope visiting your new grandniece lifted your spirits.
Judy - I'm so glad you guys are getting rain. Hoping for lots of it rather than fires for you guys.
Oh how I wish I could have all that snow that is being deposited all over the states. Oh well - guess we'd better finish our house, sell it and move north! I know it's what we wished we would have done - but the new year is no time for regrets!

Greg - thank you for the card - I, too, love those!
Heidi and Cyn - so sorry you guys are both under the weather. Keeping well wishes for you both.
I'm taking one of my friends from The Friendship Club to lunch and a movie today. She has graduated and is going to college at Notre Dame in the SF Bay Area (a private college). Her mom and her are on their own and on a very tight budget. She worked hard to acquire scholarships and grants so she could go away to school. I just love this kid and am so proud of her.
We are either going to seeing Up In The Air or Did You Hear About The Morgans...her pick.

Promised the Beastie boys that they can stay up until midnight. They both managed to last year.

I got a note from Sharlene (Madby3) where she mentioned that her and the kids were doing their countdown at 8 pm - so adorable! That is pretty much what will be going on in our house this evening. No way we stay up until midnight...maybe I'll need to get up to go to the bathroom then! hehehe!

SUZY, "they" did not find out about the Tylenol being the cause of my problems, I happened to see the recall story on the news online. I read the story, my bottle has the same musty smell they describe. I thought something was wrong with it, but AL kept telling me it smelled just fine to him. Same stomach pains, nausea, diarrhea, but never did I think it might be Tylenol hurting my tummy. Neither did doc. It was not take a pill and immediate tummy pain, so it was hard to connect the two. The makers say it is only the 100 caplet bottles of Tylenol, that they have all been recalled, and that new product, made at a different facility will be in stores by first of next week. I surely will sniff fore taking any more hehehe.

Heidi, currently, only the Tylenol arthritis formula, in caplet form, in the red capped easy open 100 caplet bottle ( not child proof) has been recalled for contamination with 2,4,6 TBA. This is one step in breakdown of an anti fungal that is sprayed on the wooden pallets on which materials are brought into the plant. It seems other Tylenol is made at other facilities and not contaminated. So just taking Tylenol should not put Gil at risk, unless the drug companies are lying to us and we all know they would not do that!!

CYN, I doubt there will be litigation over the Tylenol, not enough injury, and hard to prove that any tummy pains were caused by the TBA. For a successful litigation, you must show neglect by the company, injury to those suing, and a direct link between the negligence and the injury. Then, tummy pains are not worth a lot in a settlement, so lawyers would not want this case.

MzT - that was pretty scary - the fact that you took most of the bottle. I sure hope that ends up being what was upsetting your system and that now you will feel much better.

TAMI, the boys managed to stay up last year, but did you?

VICI, you can always do the count down from Times Square, that would be about 9 pm your time? Perhaps you can stay up that long hehehe.

I HOPE yesterday and last night is the last of the tummy upsets for me! I had taken Tylenol the night before, 2 tabs when usually I only take one, and would you believe I took it for tummy pains that were running through to my back? Ironic, the "cure" was the cause of the pain in the first place. I will be joining CynB with weak tea or coffee and lots of sitting in my recliner today.

OK, I must go and see if I can find something to eat that will be gentle.

Hugs to all and

Tricia

VICI, it is pretty dumb that I took most of the bottle! I keep asking myself just why I did. Even though Al could not smell anything wrong, I smelt it.

Morning and Happy New Year to all!
June, congratulations on the first 2010 post on SA9A! It's a bummer that you missed your new grand-neice. I remember my mother freaking because Ebob and I came home in less than a day, now some go home in just a few hours!!

MizT, I read that you can get a free replacement bottle - at least I think I did. I read it last year so my memory might be a bit off.

Vici, your Friendship Club friend sounds amazing. An incredible young woman. I am sending snow-thoughts to you for some snow this season... Now I have an image of you peeing in the new year!!

Tami, you cheeky devil!

I am starting the new year with a whopping head ache - shame it's not for the usual reasons! Actually, I've had it in varying degrees for over a week now. Peeing me off (sorry Vici, you put that in my head!) We did see in the new year with friends though. First with the younguns singing, then at a friend's house.

Funny story. Last night I was 'stage manager' again. One of my jobs was to liase with the fire fighters so our 'shows' didn't overlap - they also used one of our microphones because it was better than the one they had. That worked out really well. The whole night, however, was arranged by a local Rotary club, and it wasn't possible to liase with them, they just did their own thing. I understood - we were entertainment, they were the organisers. I tried a couple of times anyway, including ... at about 8.45pm, our main show was over and they had done some pirate presentation thing earlier than expected. I passed onto them that the girls had a few more songs they could sing to take the show to 9pm and fireworks if they'd like. Great idea they said - go for it. So the girls climb back on the top of the truck and start to sing. At which point the same Rotary guy who said it was a good idea to sing said he had to move the truck. Huh? He actually took the steps away etc etc, and they moved the truck! With the girls in the back of it!

Party game to share:
Cut out 6 horses from paper and stand them up using clothes pegs. Divide a table into squares using string - 6 lanes and about 14 'rows'. Assign 6 people to a horse and ask them to name their horse - if you're game! The judge throws a die. The number on the die is the number of the horse who goes first. The rider throws the die, and rides along that many spaces. He/she throws the die again which tells which horse goes next etc etc etc. The judge calls out a running commentary using the given horse names. The first horse to the end of the table and back again wins. It is obligatory to scream out in joy when your number comes up, to moan when you miss out again, to chant the number you want to come up etc etc etc.

Heidi, they sang from the back of a truck in the middle of a showground. Most of the other people sang from there too, though a couple chose not to risk the rickety steps and used a radio mic on the grass.

Suzy, have played that game on Melbourne Cup Day. You can also do it using people if you have enough room.
We did see the baby. They live not far from the hospital so we went to the house to drop off the gift and have a quick nurse.
